Maytag maytag rebate cut off denies valid submission

I am writing this letter on behalf of my mother who, due to computer restrictions, is not able to do so (I am providing her with a copy of this complaint letter). On May 28, 2017 my mother purchased approx. $3, 200 of Maytag appliances - fridge, range, microwave and dishwasher from Earl B. Fieden Inc. in Clifton Park NY. I and my sister, both of whom do not live in NY state, assisted my mother in making the purchase. My mother is almost 78 years old, widowed and this was her first appliance purchase on her own. A critical part of the decision to purchase Maytag brand appliances was due to the double rebate being offered: one from Maytag ($400) and one via Neco Alliance ($300) for a total of $700. Such a rebate is a material sum of money for an elderly individual living on a fixed income.

Upon the completion of the purchase on May 28, the vendor indicated that the rebate forms must (not "may") be completed online (they could NOT be mailed in) and that the serial numbers must be provided at the time the rebate request was submitted. My mother took the vendor's instructions at face value and in good faith i.e. that the forms must be completed online and that they could only be completed with the serial numbers. She asked me to assist her in completing the forms online when she received the serial numbers because she was not able to do so and it was our understanding that they could not be mailed in. While a Maytag sale was on and ended May 31 there was no indication by the vendor or on any signs anywhere in the store that the rebate request had a cutoff date (which we subsequently discovered and which is the reason for this complaint).

Delivery of the appliances was initially scheduled for June 9 and which was subsequently changed by the vendor to June 23 because all the appliances were not available for delivery. On the afternoon of Friday June 23 the appliances were delivered and 3 of the serial numbers were obtained (the stove serial number was not provided by the delivery men). The following Monday my mother provided me with the serial numbers she had and also advised me that there was an issue with the fan on the microwave. I indicated to her that she should have the fan checked immediately and we should also get the stove serial number since it was needed in order to submit the online rebate forms. Keep in mind that we were working on this premise based on the explicit instructions provided by the appliance vendor.

Early this week a serviceman came to take a look at the microwave fan and was also able to provide her with the serial number of the stove which she in turn immediately provided to me. I then attempted to submit the rebate forms online and could not. I tried from my office and then from my home thinking there may have been a firewall issue. There was not. I finally reviewed the invoice documentation I had been provided to see if I had to access any other site as I could not understand why I could not proceed with the submission. Much to my horror and chagrin I read in the fine print of the forms that there was a cutoff date of June 30, that the forms in fact could have been mailed in, and most ridiculously, the forms could be submitted without the serial numbers which in turn could be submitted by August 29. The same held true for the Neco Alliance rebate. I felt sick to my stomach - $700 gone!

Yesterday late morning (July 11) I called your customer service center and spoke to a rep named Amanda and explained the situation. She repeatedly told me there was nothing that could be done. When I raised the point that it didn't make sense to me to be able to submit an incomplete rebate form by June 30 (i.e. without serial numbers) but that a complete rebate form (i.e. with serial numbers) could not be submitted on July 11 which was well before the cutoff date in the fine print of August 29 she again repeated there was nothing Maytag could do. I asked to speak to a supervisor/manager and she told me to call back after noon. I then called my mother to advise her to call Maytag as I would be in a meeting. My mother went to the appliance store (Feiden's) and asked for their assistance. They said, "sorry nothing we can do". She returned home and called the supervisor and again was told there was nothing that could be done.

This is utterly unacceptable. Maytag is a longstanding and seemingly reputable company and yet it appears to resort to shenanigans such as this. It is ridiculous to hide disclosure language in small fine print, have distributors of your products who don't know what is going on and provide false/misleading information, and have a policy that, in substance, doesn't make sense. Oxford dictionary defines "rebate" as "a partial refund to someone who has paid too much for tax, rent, or a utility" or "a deduction or discount on a sum of money due". The definition of "rebate" does not include a cutoff time and one within days of a sale end date. You permit an incomplete rebate form to be submitted by a certain date (June 30) and provide another later date (Aug 29) by which to complete that form, yet you do not accept a fully completed/in order form prior to that later date (July 11). How does that make sense? What if the delivery of the appliances occurred after the June 30 cutoff (but bought incentivized by the rebate), due to lack of availability, ? Would you then say "Oh well, too bad"? really? What if a purchaser was delayed in submitting the forms due to a personal matter (as in my case where I was notified that my father- in- law has colon cancer around the time of the cutoff date). Would you say "Oh well, too bad?". I work in the investment industry and am regulated/licensed by the securities commission. If I or my firm would have engaged in such activities of fine print and inappropriate/misleading sales tactics, we would be out of the industry very quickly and slapped with fines and penalties.

My mother made a significant and important purchase due to the incentive of the rebates Maytag offered. It is only reasonable and equitable that she be provided with the rebates that incentivized her purchase as an appropriate resolution to this matter. Nothing else is acceptable.

we have owened maytag appliances of some sort for 45 years living in the midwest thats what you do, we purchased this item for out lake home in okoboji iowa, we had it less that a month and the ice maker stopped working, fixed right away .. now after 2 Years the damper auto stopped working, seems very unusual for a may tag product to have this happened, like I said we currently have 2 washers and 2 dryers maytag and have for as will as a built in oven. and a inexpensive top freezer at the lake home for liquids,

we are having the product in questioned repaired by sears contract service in spencer iowa, just thought I would advise you of something that should not have happened, IT, S A MAYTAG

I purchase this piece of crap from Sears, it does not wash clothes at all, I am asking them to exchange but they said since it is more than 30 days they won't do it, I call several times some tell me to take it to the store and exchange it but the store don't wanna do it, now I am stuck with this useless washer, all I want at this point is my money back and NEVER AGAIN I WILL SPEND MY MONEY AT SEARS! Even the Maytag technician told me that the machine is useless, I spend$800 I want my money back !

Maytag maytag model medb200v21 series m13518517

We purchased this Maytag Bravos Dryer on Feb 10, 2012 from BrandsMart. We also purchased a 5 year extended warranty. This past week the dryer stopped drying and we contact Maytag Customer Service. They asked me if L2 was appearing on the machine and it was. I was instructed to turn of the circuit breaker for 2 minutes and turn it back on. I did and nothing changed. They then told me it was sounds like an electrical problem and I should call and electrician. I called our electrician and he thoroughly checked our breakers and the dryer connections including the outlet. He told me that Maytag should not have requested an electrician as it is the heater element that went out. This service cost me $125 and then required me to get a quote on replacing the heating element. After speaking with several appliance service companies, I was quoted $249-$325 for this job.
I am very upset with Maytag for leading me down a path that I should never I gone down. I am not faced with another $300 on top of the $125 for a dryer that is slightly over 5 years. I would like to be reimbursed for these costs and would also recommend that Maytag stops telling their customers to have an electrician check their dryer with L2 appears. It is also clearly stated in their warranty book under troubleshooting.

Maytag mhw 8200fc

We purchased our new Maytag washer 8200 and dryer on September 5, 2016.
10/1/16- pull out drawer replaced not working properly
1/10/17 - mold issues inside of pull out draw. I called Maytag. Dutch Maytag the owner Art came out and replaced the complete insert where you fill your detergent because it was full of mold.

1/12/17- I used my washer for the first time since the repair and I left the laundry room and thankfully I was in a room close by because I heard water running and when I opened the laundry room door there was waterall over the floor. I turned the machine off immediately and threw lots of towel on the floor. I am grateful it didn't flood my new wood floors
Right outside the laundry room. I called Dutch Maytag first thing in the morning and he came back later that day. He put new clamps on the hose and an extra one. He said he usually always checks his work but forgot to this time.
This was a real concern of mine because all that water that was flossing my floorwent through the inside of our new wash machine. During the process of him moving my machine the dryer vent came undone and he put a new part on because he said the original installation was
Incorrect. Only to find out in May I had lint all over my laundry room because he didn't connect the vent properly either. He was
Unwilling to come Tony home without a service call
Cause his warrantee was 30 days.
4/10/17- I called Maytag to document the visit with Dutch Maytag because I am still dealing with mold issues in the detergent compartment
And because I was concerned about all the water that ran through the inside of my machine when the hose were not installed properly after the repair.
They send Ken Moore from Appliance Repair Out to our home and he just documented ny concerns and didn't take anything apart to look at it.

Every time I use this wash machine I wipe out the gasket, take the liquid dispenser completely out of the unit because there is quite a bit of water thT just sits in the unit. I take a dry cloth and wipe out the dispenser Area every load and I still have mildew and mold in the rear where I can't reach.

Maytag maytag washer model : mhw3505fw and lousy customer service

We bought this Maytag washer to replace the broken washer (other brand) on Feb 28, 2017. My husband did a lot of research on different brands of washers, and that we decided on this Maytag washer which has such good reviews. The washer ran well and very quiet until there is a malfunction on its drain cycle on June 30 2017, which means its whole wash/drain/spin cycle would not complete properly. It just stops at the last 12 minutes and keeps spinning but not draining. I was forced to stop the machine by turning of the power. My laundry was soaking wet. We looked up the manual for trouble-shooting but it doesn't help. This is kind of frustrating! It is just barely used for 4 months!

But what more frustrating is your customer service for under warranty products! My husband contacted your customer service about the problem. The answer we got is : The earliest date for the technician to be available is July 20th! That would be 3 weeks before we can use the kind of new washer! Really? According to the lady on the phone is that there aren't too many technician for under warranty products around our area, and that is not much she can do. That's it! This is really ridiculous and frustrating!

So, we bought a new durable (according to most reviews) Maytag washer for 4 months. Now it sits in our garage for displaying only. Not for use. And I have to pay the laundromat to do my laundry. Ironic, isn't it?

If my friends or family ask me about Maytag products, I would say no more and no less of my experience, especially with its lousy customer service.

I understand not all products be manufactured perfectly, there is always a small percentage that have some kind of glitches, but one have to wait 3 weeks for the customer service to the problem - that is unacceptable!

I bought this washer only 3 year ago and now it will not agitate.
It just fills up water and drains it does not wash or rinse it takes 2 hours to finish and clothes are sobbing wet when finish.
I am very disappointed in this washer that I paid good money for.
I do not recommend this washer do not like the locking washer it takes to long to wash.
I am calling to repair this washer that I bought from home depot!
This maytag washer does not rate and not good do not buy this model
very bad appliance!

Maytag washer

I purchased a Maytag washer model MVWB765FW0 on 1/20/17 from Home Depot and on 6/20/17 the water wouldn't enter the machine. I called customer service and explained what was happening. I was given a service appointment on 6/23/17 Serviceman showed and said it was my fill valve which I had already surmised was the problem when I researched the issue on the internet. He tells me he can't fix the machine because he doesn't stock the part. How do you come to repair something when you know the issue without the proper parts. I told Maytag customer service and the appliance repair company what was happening. He had 2 days to order the part before he came. He told me it would take about 2 days for the part to come in once he ordered it. He then said they would schedule my service appt once the part came in. This is a brand new washer. I purchased a Maytag dryer at same time and had to have someone service it a few weeks before. These are not cheap appliances. I am very upset disappointed in the quality of these appliances and would not recommend them to anyone or would I buy this brand in the future.

Maytag various

Over the last 5 years we have replaced every single appliance with a Maytag. I am aggrieved to say that we have had problems with the microwave (the clock), the refrigerator (the ice maker), the dishwater (heat sensor had to be replaced), the washing machine (drum) and the gas stove top (sensor caught fire today). All these appliances were professionally installed. I am sad to say that I will never recommend Maytag or any of its sisters to anyone considering purchasing new appliances, nor will we ever purchase another Maytag or sister appliance of any kind ever again. All our prior appliances were whirlpool a Maytag sister company and never had issues with them. They were just worn out.

Maytag maytag bravos washing machine

First of all, bought the washer about two months ago. I am not happy with this machine at all, especially the agitation system. MY complaint is I followed instructions and poured 1/2 cup of bleach in the dispenser expecting it to be apportioned at the right time. When I took my white t-shirts out, new, I might add, two of them had holes where the bleach must have gone directly on the material. The shirts cannot be worn again. I put a darker colored towel underneath so the holes can be seen. Unfortunately, I only took a photo of the worst one. I will not use the dispenser again, but dilute the bleach myself.

Maytag washing machine 7 months old.

Purchased a new Maytag washer and dryer in November 2016 it is currently 7 months old. Stopped spinning called my warranty for service a technician called and four days later he appeared said the bells had slipped off put the belt back on which in my opinion was not a good decision in the first place if a belt falls off of a seven-month-old machine there's something wrong with the belt told me it was repaired and left I put my washing machine the following morning into a self wash because it had been sitting and he had been working on it. 2 minutes into the self wash the same thing it stopped spinning I called Maytag back again and was told they would give me an appointment as soon as possible well they got me one the next day, this morning between 12 and 3. At 8:30 a.m. I received a phone call from the tech who tells me he is ordering parts and will not be here till next Tuesday which means I am going to be without a washing machine for two weeks a new washing machine. This Tech also informed me that he's ordering parts although I have no idea why or what I was never given a ticket I was never told anything but that my belt came off and suddenly I'm getting parts why I don't understand why this wasn't done the first time he was here. I live in a very rural area I am 26 miles from the nearest city to do any laundry . This has been a very unpleasant experience it has gone on for over 2 weeks with a brand new washing machine this is not expected or acceptable behavior from Maytag on a new washing machine

Maytag washing machine

I have had service on my Maytag washer at least every 3 months or so. It is now broken again and it was repaired last Thursday, June 15, it broke the next day. I do not understand I have the service contract and according to it if the washer is able to be repaired we should get a new one. We are now having trouble with the service companies. Could you please help.

We got a new one after being without a washer for 4 MONTHS! The new one broke too so we are replacing this pos with another machine and will never buy Maytag again Recently bought a new stove and refrigerator. Made sure I stayed away from Maytag/Whirlpool.

We purchased the Maytag Bravos XL November/2016 from Lowes. We checked on reviews and it got 4 stars... Its June/2017 (7months later) and our, not even a year old washer, is broken. The error code is LF. (Low Fill) Which all of the screens and hoses were checked. Checked online and this is a common problem with these washers. It's the Water Inlet Valve electronic switch that has gone bad. I called the customer service(Saturday morning) and they said they could have someone here on Tuesday. I got another call Monday morning from a repair shop stating that Whirlpool/Maytag messed up and they don't service my area and I would need to call Whirlpool back and schedule another appointment with another maintenance shop... I'm extremely disappointed. All of our appliances have always been Maytag. When Whirlpool took over, Maytag is now "Whirlpool junk!" Our washer smells terrible and I clean it regularly with the Affresh. The washer does not fill with enough water to clean the clothes properly. We often have to rewash our clothes because the washer does not get our clothes clean nor does it rinse the detergent out. I have found hundreds of unhappy customers of Maytag/Whirlpool washers with the same complaints. Online there is a tutorial on how to completely disassemble your Maytag/Whirlpool washer to clean the bacteria and stagnant water that creates the foul smell that happens due to a design flaw of the washer. But, if you do this, you void your warranty... This washer is very expensive and we are not a wealthy family that can buy new washers every year.. I am very disappointed in the LACK of customer service and how they really didn't care. Unfortunately, my family, friends and co-workers will never buy any Maytag/Whirlpool appliances.

I am having the same problem...bought 1/17 and have already had repairman out for dryer and now washer. LF code and repairman doesn't show up with part to fix and I have to wait ? days for them to get part and reschedule service. I will not buy Maytag anymore and will tell anyone I know to not buy Maytag.

Maytag dishwasher — 3 years 2 months total lifetime

I purchased a maytag (l/c intentional) model MDB8949SBW in April of 2014. The touchpad started acting up after about 18 months and the system completely quit in May of 2017. "The parts are not under warranty" They wanted over $300 to fix a $550 washer. This is the last Whirlpool product that will grace my doors. German and Japanese appliances here I come.

Save your money -- Buy something else.

Purchased this washer on 5/31/16, it stopped working on 5/25/17. It really says a lot about what kind and quality of products thatbyou are selling Maytag. The washer lasted for 359 days before breaking down. I called for service on 5/25/17, my work order was given to Chattanooga Appliance, my appointment was scheduled for 5/26/17 between the hours of 8 am and 12 noon.I was called by Chattanooga Appliance and told that they could not service me on this day. Rescheduled for Monday 5/29/17, they apparently forgot that 5/29/17 was a holiday. Called Maytag back on 5/30/17, they called Chattanooga Appliance and they told Maytag that theytold me Monday 6/5/17, which was a lie. Maytag then told me that Chattanooga Appliance had an opening for Wednesday 5/31/17 which I refused because of the lie which they told and asked for another company. Was given Matrix Repairs for Thursday 6/1/17. They came out and determined that two parts needed to be replaced to get the washer fixed. It really sad that a new washer only lasted 359 days! You try to support an American company and you get what amounts to a refurbished washer! Instead of repairing it you should be replacing it! I get a one year warranty on a $20 cd player! It really says a lot about your company! And to speak with someone about a warranty one minute you're talking to Maytag, the next you're talking to Whirlpool, it's really very frustrating and I have no problem saying buyers beware!

Maytag dryer

My family recently purchased a home. It is no mansion, but it is certainly something to be proud of. Along with renovations, we updated the appliances in our home, including a dryer.

Our very first brand-new dryer. A Maytag.

We were ecstatic over the realization that our hard work could produce a luxury unavailable in our previous apartment-dwelling lives. We were so happy to buy an American-made product!

When one does not have to visit the laundromat every other day, life is beautiful.

Unfortunately, my family and I will be going back to that life, at least for a while. The dryer we purchased broke down less than two months after purchase and delivery, and the unprofessional nature of the visiting technician failed to assure us of a swift and effective repair. The felt liningsimply separated from the drum. We will have to wait another week, take off from work, simply to wait for a service that should have been completed with adequate information.

This information was provided via chat and phone.

I spoke to the dealer, Home Depot, and they could not do much at all other than give us Maytag's customer service number. As you can imagine, this can lead to a roller coaster ride of ingenuine bots, uninterested associates, and nonexistent management.

I posited a question to each live person and chat entity encountered, "If you purchased a Maytag product that malfunctioned in this manner after only two months, would you purchase one again?"

The answers from your employees were canned and confused them. I sensed a complete lack of empathy. Of course they would not buy from that brand again. No rational person would. (I am currently waiting for my new Maytag washer to malfunction any time now). One of your employees even stated that their dryer never malfunctioned.

That is nice. So why did mine?

I am seriously disappointed in the quality of your product, and the subsequent treatment received from your staff, who seemed to pawn me off on the next available department. I am seriously disappointed in the ridiculously short lifespan of your product. And I am completely disgusted with what I assume to be a third party repair service that came to visit as a technician. I really hated wasting my work day for that visit, and I dread wasting another day next week for the second visit.

What is really sad: I have lost faith in products made here in the US because of you. I remember my parents purchasing a used Maytag when I was a kid. They still use it decades later.

When and where did you drop the ball?

Maytag bravos xl washer, model mvwb700bw0

We purchased a Maytag Bravos XL Washing Machine (MVWB700BW0) on November 30th 2014 (that’s right, the machine is only two and a half years old!).

This past week the machine started making a noise during the spin cycle which sounded like a plane taking off. We called a repairman (highly rated on Homestars) who was extremely helpful in assessing that that the bearing was worn out and would need to be replaced. This Gentleman told us that while the parts would be approx. $200 CAD, the labour costs would run up as this repair could take a few hours (his hourly rate would be $79). He then informed us that the bearing should be covered by your warranty. All of his help was offered free of charge!

Expecting to get similar great service from Maytag (we had heard about the great machines and service which is what prompted us to buy your appliance in the first place), we called the Canadian help line. It was at this point that we discovered that Maytag is now owned by Whirlpool and that there is no Canadian assistance. All calls are transferred to America.

The first person my wife spoke with (Karen) offered no apologies for our stress and dismay at having to go through this with a machine that was only two and a half years old. She also suggested that the reason the machine failed is that we didn’t take care of it. My wife then asked to speak with a supervisor and was told that one would call back very shortly. I had to call back the next day as no one bothered to return the call.

My experience on the phone was even worse than my wife’s. The first person I spoke with (Messan) initially told me that this repair would not be covered by the 10 year limited warranty. He then asked me if I knew how much the parts cost (I’m not the one who works for Maytag/Whirlpool!). As the discussion went on he then changed his mind and said that the parts were covered but that labour was not included and the cost for that would be $112 + tax for the first 30 minutes and $23 per 15 minutes of service thereafter ($92/hour). He couldn’t even give me an approximation of how long the repair would take (surely ours is not the first machine that has needed this work done). I was quite confused as he didn’t seem to know what he was talking about and so I asked to speak with a supervisor.

I spoke with a supervisor (Heather) who, other than repeating the phrase “I know this situation can be quite daunting” ad nauseam, seemed only to care about confirming a day for a repairman to come out and start the work. She informed me that the cost for parts would be included but that the labour cost would be $89 for the first 15 minutes and $29 per 15 minutes of service thereafter ($116/hour). When I told her that this was different from what had already been quoted her answer was that she was offering me a better rate as a show of good service. When I informed her that her “good service” cost was more than the original quote her only response was “oh, I guess you’re right”. Perhaps calculators should be provided to your team! I then asked if she could just arrange to send the parts and I would have the repair done by the serviceman I contacted originally (so much cheaper) or perhaps, in the interest of keeping a very frustrated customer somewhat happy, offer a discount on the labour costs. Unsurprisingly her answer to both requests was “we don’t do that”! At this point I gave up.

Any company that honestly cared about their customers would understand the level of frustration at having a practically new appliance fail and make some attempt to show empathy and rectify the situation so as to keep that customer in the long term.

Due to the lack of care and customer support I can think of no reason why, even if we should choose to repair the washer, we would give Maytag/Whirlpool any more money (at an exorbitant repair rate), nor any reason why we would ever consider buying another one of your products again.

We were told by Home Depot (where we purchased your product) that your labour charges were outrageous and both Home Depot and the repairman I spoke with warned that we would not be happy with your customer service. They were correct! You have ruined the once good name of Maytag and have extremely poor customer service.

Maytag maytag bravos washing machine model no. mvwb75owq1 type 580

I bought this washing machine several years ago when my old Kenmore went out. I WISH I had my old machine BACK! This machine is the worst I've ever owned. The "low water - energy efficient" is just ridiculous. It DOES NOT clean my clothes! How can it be energy efficient if you have to wash your clothes 3, 4 and sometimes 5 times to get them clean? My clothes never look or smell clean. If I have a small stain on something, I always wet it, pre-treat it, and make sure to check to see if the stain comes out before I throw it in the dryer, because 9 times out of 10 - the stain is still there! My clothes never smell clean. In fact, they have an odor. Sometimes I can still smell body odor under the arms of my t-shirts and sometimes I can still smell my perfume on my clothes. This tells me that my clothes aren't getting clean at all. When I look in the washing machine and see that there is hardly any water in there while my clothes are washing and rinsing - my common sense tells me that there is no way my clothes are getting clean. This morning I put a sheet in to wash because there was a spot on it. I wet the spot and pre-treated it with SHOUT spray. When I took the sheet out - the spot was still there and it still smelled bad. WOW - it was as if the sheet had not been washed at all. I absolutely HATE this machine, but I cannot afford to trash this one and go buy another one, because I spent TOO much money on THIS awful washing machine. I have seen MANY bad reviews on this machine. WHY doesn't MAYTAG do the right thing and recall it? I would love the opportunity to get a new machine in place of this one! As consumers, we should be compensated for a really bad product.

And, oh, by the way, you pay for that gizmo that regulates the wash water temperature. And good luck. I think they ALL have those temperature regulators these days. Enjoy your 60 degree "hot" wash.

For starters, these machines decide what "hot" water means. It's usually way too cold to wash anything out - particularly the stuff & smells you describe. Junk-ola commie junk! You're stuck with that machine though. So, just hook up a hose to the hot water spigot in back of the machine (put in a "Y") and fill it with pure HOT water from that hose That's what I had to do with a machine I bought 6 years ago. They can shove that stuff. I work, I pay my energy bills and II don't want some green head yo yo telling me how hot my wash water is going to be.

Maytag bad product, do not purchase a bravo washer

I have a 18 month old MVWX655dwo that is now a utility room ornament rather than a washer.Stopped spinning out after the 1 hour wash and my clothes still have soap in them and aren't clean.Service is 75.00 per hour and wont likely be long before the next issue.I replaced it with a 20 plus year old performa that is rusty and actually works(costs 30.00).Clean clothes and no laundrymat, Thats what I am talking about.Extremely unsatisfied with this product and I will fill out every forum I can find about what a poor quality product this is and that still wont be enough.I am a 20 year plus Hvac tech and have never seen such a inferior product in my life.Any reimbursement would be a huge surprise to me, but something has to be done.Ser# c51344716
