Macy's leather sectional

I just bought a brown leather sectional and to our complete dismay it just didn't fit in the room. So...Macy's charged us $610.00 to have it returned! Pleae know that before shopping there.

After mailing our new bill to a wrong address we complained that it was their fault so they took off the late charges. After another month, they charged us for insurance which the whole family remembers the sale rep telling us to make sure we do not press yes on the payment screen when we were purchasing out sofa. My dad asked for them to send us in paper where we signed after we were clearly instructed not to and told why. Maybe other customers complained about this before too.

I had a dining room set delivered 4 days ago. The table already has scratches on it...I also contacted them and got the same response...I am sorry but for the price I paid I expect better quality...we have used the table twice and it is only myself and my husband...I told them I would exchange it for another set...even more expensive and still was told no. I have had better customer service from much less expensive stores...the merchandise I received is inferior and they want roughly 300.00 for me to return it and pick out something else..then pay full price and delivery again! BAD BUSINESS...and by the way most furniture stores will take back merchandise if it is too big for your space, no questions asked.

Please read your salescheck carefully. Why should Macy's take something back just because you didn't like it and it didn't fit in your home? If Macy's takes it back then they can't sell the furniture again as new. Macy's then has to absorb the cost of your negligence. And then guess where that cost is passed? Directly back to the consumer. It's not fair for those of us that take the time to carefully measure our homes for furniture to take your hit. Grow up! Just be glad they are taking it back at all. And consider the fees to be a learning experience.

Macy's charge 10% to return furniture if there is no damage to it and they keep the delverly fee.so you must have paid over 6, 000 for your itemS?
the information for returns are on the back of your bill of sales.

Macy's high interest rates

I have a Macys credit card, which I use only occasionally. I went shopping there yesterday, over the Thanksgiving holiday, and made several purchases, amounting to around $200.00. While there, I also paid my previous credit card balance in full, which was only about $33.00. When I looked at my Macys statement upon arriving home, I was SHOCKED to see this written on the statement: "A finance charge in the amount of $1.00 will be added to your revolving account balance if you choose to pay less than the full balance by your due date. If that happens, the actual ANNUAL PERCENTAGE RATE charged on that account is 51.84%". There were many folks doing their Christmas shopping while I was there and I'm sure they will also be shocked to discover that they have to pay for their purchases IN FULL or their interest payment will go to just under 52%...this is absolutely ridiculous, especially in these troubling financial times. Isn't there someone who regulates this type of thing?

Thanks for sharing this with us. I had no idea they would charge you an interest like that if you did not pay in full. After seeing this I plan to get rid of this Macy's Amex Card. It looks horrendous. I checked my interest rate and it is less than yours but still phenomenally HIGH.

DO NOT PAY THE INTERST! I clearly states on the bill "If you pay your New Purchase Balance of $"Whatever" by "Date" your Initial (And I love how they put that) Interest charge of $"Whatever" on your Revolving Account will be refunded on your next statement". This started happening a couple of years ago, and I called Macy's but so far nothing has happened and more customers need to make the FTC aware.

Please Go to the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) website and file a complaint, https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov

I am also contacting the BBB and Reporting it as Mail Fraud, but I cannot find an enforcing agency for my state.

They are ripping off Unaware customers and judging by some of these posts some of you are paying these charges for fear of a bad credit mark. DON'T PAY IT, it is NOT DUE. Even if they reported this balance unpaid to the credit agencies, you can dispute it and it will be taken off because they are ILLEGAL CHARGES and cannot be enforced.

Hey! Macy's can do whatever they want! And, what they want to do is take advantage of the customer with un-earned interest. So now, they have no grace period and now they can double-cycle bill! Oh, but we were advised in the small front notice that was sent out three months ago in legalise. So, what can you do? I just closed my account (a Marshall Field's account opened in 1977) and I urge you to do the same. As customers, we have rights, too!

Had the VERY same stuff just happen. I called a supervisor to complain about an "interest" charge of $10.67 due BEFORE I had accrued any interest as I always pay my balance to Macy's in full. The supervisor gave me such double speak I was nearly laughing! Basically I think he was waiting or me to ask "Do I have to pay this?" It was as if he was paranoid to tell me the same words. When I finally told him I was going to pay my balance in full WITHOUT the felonious interest he said "That is correct Madame. That is just fine." Whew! So what they are hoping is that you will go ahead and pay this interest in advance but it is not required.

I was also sent a Macy's Visa without requesting it. One of the clerks noticed that my standard Macy's card was expired and she said "I will take care of it right now." I had a worried moment when she asked for my SS#. Now I know why. When I had the supervisor on the phone I canceled this account (never called to validate it) and requested a new normal Macy's card.

The lesson folks, do NOT purchase anything on a card that you cannot pay off before interest is due. The corporations are ravenous rats who will screw you every which way and the small print is getting smaller!

Same thing happened to me when I opened my bill. The front page said annual interest rate of 22.90% but second page in small print said "$1 added...annual percentage rate charged...is 30.48%". When I called Macy's, the supervisor told me the annual percentage rate is actually 24.5% and will be going up again. In other words, they are charging whatever interest rate the feel like charging.

Also when I opened this account, Macy's went ahead and opened a second credit card, a Visa, with a different account number without my permission. I paid the account in full and canceled both accounts. Never again will I have a Macy's account. Good thing I set the money aside to pay this in full. I feel bad for anyone who charged a large amount, they'll be getting a nasty surprise.

My wife was suckered in to opening a Macy's account last month despite our agreement this would never happen - but they offered her such a gosh-darn deal!

Got the bill, new balance of $93.60, similar statement to above, but this was the text (I add no emphasis- the caps are as printed):
"A FINANCE CHARGE in the amount of $2.00 will be added to your Revolving account balance if you choose to pay less than the full balance by your due date. If that happens, the actual ANNUAL PERCENTAGE RATE charged on that account is 256.08%."

Then when I went online to set up a web account to pay the bill through checking account transfer to make sure it got there, it said our balance was $95.60. So the $2.00 was already added somehow?

Not risking it - I paid it, I am then going to cancel the account, and if they give me any trouble at all, I'm going to file a complaint with the BBB and attorney general.

I found this page while Googling, so I thought I'd add my story to help others find that their story is not unique, and they'd better cancel the account as soon as possible.

Yes - its called the Federal Trade Commission,

Make sure you know which company is actually responsible.

JCP, Lowes - use GE Money to handle their credit cards and the stores have no control over how GE Money handles their customers accounts. GEMB is highly abusive of its customers and have reduced everyone's available credit to $100.

JCP is notorious for this as well. Going to talk to my US Congressman about this. The best way to go is to shop online with the various sites that are out there now offering great deals AND pay cash out of your debit card. Then you get the good deals plus don't pay interest. The online sites may take a little longer to process your order but it is worth it. This is the Millennial way to do things. Don't get screwed.

Macy's misleading

Whoever came up with the $10.00 off every $25.00 for Macy's with the fine print "does not apply to morning specials" should be ashamed of him- or herself. This coupon was made available on 11/26/08 and 11/27/08. I am a long-time customer and have always looked forward to deals like this to shop at Macy's. On this Black Friday, I was at South Coast Plaza's Macy's and have seen so many customers disappointed and felt cheated because their coupons were not honored. If many of the shoppers had read the fine print, they would know that the coupons are really worthless since most items in the store were morning specials, and probably would not have even bothered going to Macy's. Maybe this is Macy's plan, to lure customers into their stores, but I think Macy's has lost many customers this past week. It's stupid advertising, especially during an economy crisis like the one now, when there are so many people looking forward to deals who came with great disappointment. It is just too sad.

The writer of the complaint about the $10 off $25 purchases coupons was right on the mark. I was going to make the exact same comments. I went to the Mission Valley store intending to do a lot of Christmas shopping in addition to whatever bargains I could get with my coupons, but was so disgusted (as were many other people trying to use the coupons), that I left the store vowing not to return. Furthermore, I intend to tell all of my friends and relatives about this deceptive practice. Macy's you have lost a long time customer.

Macy's unapproved charges

I applied for a Macy's credit card in-store and did not receive my first month's statement. On my second month's statement, I had a late fee and a charge for "credit protection" service in which I never enrolled. When I called, they took off the late fee, but wanted to charge me to pay by phone. When I refused to pay that charge, they did waive it, but I had to be assertive. The worst thing was the credit protection scam. They had charged me for two months' worth, saying I signed up for a 30 day trial when I applied. Well, that's not true. I had the clerk do the application for me and I just showed my ID and other credit card. I never enroll in those stupid programs, so I know I didn't authorize it and I remember her asking me about it. However, they said I was past the trial and had to pay anyway. I was charged $12 over two months for an unauthorized enrollment in this program. The only recourse I had was to have them send me proof of my enrollment, which I'm still waiting on.

The solution -- don't get a Macy's card and MAKE SURE YOU CHECK YOUR STATEMENT to contest the crap they try to pile on!

Is the Macy's credit card handled by GE Money Bank?

IF yes - it GE Money tacking on the extra charges - they like to pad their bills as much as possible. They are also lowering everyones credit limit to only $100.00 just before Christmas.

I'm sure the stores that have GE Money handling their credit accounts are not aware of this and those stores are counting on these customers to come in and shop - but can't now because of GE Money.
JC Penney, Belks, Lowes, Old Navy, Banana Republic among others are going to have a very bad Christmas season this because of GE Money.

Macy's product charges and fees

Well, I thought it would be a good idea to get a card from Macy's after all they were offering a huge percentage off of my purchase. Let me tell you it was a rip off! The people that work for there card company are either incompetent or they just like to mke ridicules charges in order to swindle people out of money. After giving the correct address for my account I had not received a bill and then finally it came in the mail forwarded from a very old address and was the final notice on the account from a $46 dollar charge to now over one hundered dollars from late charges. I called to complain and they said there was nothing I could do but pay the charges. Needless to say I paid off the charges and then a few months went by and I went back to macy's and made some purchase. The same thing happened I noticed to another person I noticed they charged the macy's card instead of charging the credit card I gave them, the only reason I wanted use the card was for the discount (which after 20 minutes they finally found out that I still had the wrong address on my account). When I recieved the next bill they were charging a reasonable amount and I thought nothing of it but now they are charging me exessive fees and if you are not but a day late on your payment they charge you $25.00 dollars in late fees and there customer service # is worthless for working out what went wrong with your charges. Sorry so long winded but I guess the moral of the story is the discounts on the credit cards at Macy's are to bring down the prices on their overpriced merchandise and they are generally not worth getting.

They stopped sending me statements and only when the collection company contacted me was I aware. They insisted they emailed me a statement and they go no undeliverable message so they refused to remove the bad mark on my credit report. I have emails from the order being placed, processed and delivered, but no statements. They refused to believe me and said it was my fault. I should have made payments regardless of whether I received a statement or not. It didn't matter that I paid them I full the first time they notified me through their collection agency. Nor did it matter that they could see I have never had a late payment on my credit report. I have been doing business exclusively through them for 30 years, but never again. They are and always will be the only company to ever submit negative credit against me. I have closed my account and I will never buy anything form their store again.

This is still going on, as the same things are happening to me right now. Don't use a Macy's card. I thought I paid it off right after I made the purchase, but something didn't go through and then they "had my address wrong" and I didn't hear about it until a few months later. Tried to pay it off again and that didn't go through, so now I'm just going to the store as their customer service line is less than worthless.

Now that Obama will re regulating credit cards be careful! Macy is about to file chapter ! and to get funds are really putting the screws to their account holders! If you are one day late on a payment, they are raising your interest to 26.99%, placing your account with collections and hitting you with late fees every month!
I have called them every other day to get this fixed and they do not wanr to hear it!
This is why our country is sinking into financial failure! Consumers cannot afford the double payments and these card companies are raking in the money!

Pay off your Macy card before they raise your interest to cover their own financial issues!

In response to Madhu, the reason Macys asks for a credit card during the application process is so they can verify your credit. It does not mean they will charge it on that card. Obviously, if you get a savings by opening up a card with them, its gonna get charged on the new card. Otherwise what would be the point? And you can even pay it off at the register right after. Seriously, that's just common sense.

Not trying to defend Macys. I actually work there and I hate the credit card aspect, but I just had to reply to that.

Can we all get together and file a case or something..? I had a very very good credit score and I worked hard to keep it that way. Macy's ruined everything in a month. Now I don't even get a credit card accepted now...I am planning on buying a new car and I am worried ! I opened a Macy's account for some discount of I think $10.00 or less than that...they asked me a credit card during that process and I thought I would be charged to that account. I had to make an international trip for like a month and thought even if the Macy's card comes home..it would have to be activated like any other credit card...it was when I came back, that I realized they applied charges to the macy's card and they charged me all the extra money for late fees etc., etc., I called them and made an instant payment as I was worried about my credit score...after like 2 months, I applied for a credit card. That got rejected and the reason was that I missed paying some outstanding payments. I feel so helpless. Can anyone suggest what I can do? I am very young and I need to buy things on credit in the future. I do not even own a car or house. I work hard and never miss a payment. How long does it take for that to go away from my credit history? Any response will be appreciated.

I will never shop Macy's again. I think there is a lass action suit here. I do not advocate attorneys or law suits in general. However, I have had it with corp relying on me not scrutinizing my bill each month and then adding extra charges. They told me I should have looked at the electronic signiature pad to see this extra charge. Do you read anything more than the total and where you sign? I will from now on. I am pissed.

I don't understand people. Why would you ever continue purchasing from a company if they ripped off the first time. If people would stop buying from them then they would stop ripping people off but as long as you keep going back why should they change. Wake up and be smart. If you get ripped of quit going back. The consumer only has purchasing power. The legal system is not made for the average person and is no way just or fair anymore. The only way to stop companies is to stop buying from them and you need to get as many of your frinds to stop buying from them too. This is the only hope consumers have to stop company misconduct.

Macy's rip off company

Mattress was defective, so they tried to charge me $130 for the return of the box spring + 10% restocking fee and they were sold to us as a set! After they took it back they charged my credit card. They took my regular macy credit card payment and put a portion toward the mattress payment leaving my minimum credit card payment below the minimum payment amount resulting in a tacked on late fee of $28.00. Check your statements and make sure when dealing with them you are sure to Read everything carefully and let them know right away if you are not satisfied.

MCCS called my land line at 8:35 on a Saturday morning. An automated recording instructed me to hold for an important message. I did hold because I wanted to talk to a live person and have my number removed from such an appalling system. After 3 minutes and 45 seconds the system disconnected me!

I looked, on line and found out that is was Macy's collection agency. I DO NOT HAVE A MACY"S CARD and even if I did, I couldn't have resolved anything because they disconnected me!

I tried to resolve this issue by calling the number back, Macy's customer service and so on. The live people I did speak too couldn't do anything without my account number, WHICH I DON"T HAVE!

Macy's recently sent an email to me thanking me for my payment. Two days later I received another email that the first email was a mixup. I promptly paid my bill (2 days late by now due to their initial error that confirmed I had paid - I usually pay online so figured I scheduled it and didn't write down my confirmation). Now they are billing me a 39.00 late fee even though I have talked to 2 agents and supervisor. They provide the worst service ever and I am making it my mission to share

I bought a sectional, the salesperson wrote down the wrong info in the order sheet and they delivered the wrong piece. I had to call several times to clear that. When I contacted the sales associate directly he told me he was going to call me back and I waited and waited. I had to call him again and explain that I was buying the expensive sectional because of very important guests coming from out of state. I asked him if they could re deliver the soonest posible and of course he never got back to me and my guests are already gone. After two weeks of waiting the delivery arrived just to see THE FLOOR SAMPLE delivered when I paid the price of a new one. Macys does not care about customer service. When you are buying and before your credit card is taken they are so so nice but once you paid forget it!

Take responsibility for yourself. When you sign for a credit card, all details are available. There is no bill and the company you're purchasing from is not obligated to send you a "bill." You make the purchase, be aware you owe on it in the next bill period. If you don't make the payment, whether they send you a statement or not, you are late. You can save your receipts and calculate your own payment, go to the store and enquire, or call the company. If they give you a store account and a major credit card account, you need to be aware of the two different account numbers, and where and what your are charging on them. Don't moan and groan and accuse company's of cheating you when you blithely ignore understanding the details of your credit accounts, borrow money by using them, and then fail to make proper payments. Grow up and take responsibility for your own actions!

I bought a watch of other brand and went to DKNY counter to adjust the chain. Two customers were there besides the counter waiting. I came over to ask where to adjust the chain. A male rep told me where the line is. One customer left with her watch adjusted minutes later, so I came over to give my watch. I don't know which rep works for DKNY and which rep is responsible for chain adjustment. Now a female black rep pointed and yelled this was DKNY counter, DKNY customers went first, you had to wait. She was extremely rude and loud to clear the area at the front of the counter. How do I know the other customer is DKNY customer? (She may be choosing watches or waiting to adjust watch chain too) If customers came over to fix chain, where are they supposed to stand then? I saw one standing closely by the counter! And she was gone when I was waiting! Stupid rep just doesn't know how to say in a nice way and respect customers.

I have been charged hefty $ 25 fines for my payments bouncing. This after I had asked them to close out the account by providing my bank checking account details. They say they could not get through. However they were able to debit $25 dollars from my bank checking account to for the fines. They did this after i contacted them again 2 more times. The last time they said I would get a refund. but now I get billed again. I have'nt been to Macy's at all since this started. They are not a legitimate business. I purchased a chair in the fall of 2017. The chair was delivered and I signed for it. The store made a mistake and put the purchase on my regular account. Which I paid before the bill was due. 3 months later I received another bill saying I owed for another chair that was purchased on my large purchase account. I did not sign for 2 chairs just one. I have asked them from the very beginning to show proof I was delivered 2 chairs. They have not been able to do so. What they have done is destroy my peace by the constant phone calls, my faith in a store that was once a great place to shop. And the worst part is my credit is destroyed, which was once in the 800's. I will never purchase anything from this store again. There are much better stores to shop than Macys. Their customer service department sucks, there are no cashiers when you need one, unless you speak 3 other languages other than english, you are not going to understand the people on the floor.

I recently got a Macys credit card. When I went online to pay the bill there was no way to pay it with my bank card. I called customer service and was told that there are 4 methods of payment:
1. mail a check.
2. pay by check over the phone ( $10 service fee)
3. pay by credit card over the phone ( $15 service fee)
4. Drive to the store and pay in person

This Credit card will be closed on my next day off, after I go to the store to pay the bill. It is easier and cheaper to use my bank card.

Ordered Macys Gift Card for niece on December 13, 2017 waited until December 22nd and still no gift card. Called Macys Customer Service they informed me the card had already been used in their Hearld Square store on December 20th. This could not be my niece who lives 300 or more miles from this store. Customer Service would not let me speak to supervisor but lady said new gift card would be mailed that day.She also would not tell me where gift card had been mailed. Well December 28th and no card called again and they said ten business days. This time she let it slip and said the gift card had been mailed from the Hearld Square store, where it had been used, very interesting. I emailed complaint on Macys.com and got another phone number to call. On January 7th called got a very nice lady, not same place I had been calling, she said I had to wait ten business days i have waited over ten business days. Still no gift card has been mailed out. Lady was trying to help but they were giving her the runaround. This gift card was for $75.00 Macys is acting like I'm some sort of thief when they have the real thieves are working in their own stores. I paid off my credit card for this card and will never do business again with such a bad company that cannot handle their own employees who steal and lie.

I don't think that there is a real need for any more negative comments, since this website is already filled with customers complaints against Macy's. If the HR Dept. and the Customer Relations Dept. of Macy's reads all these comments and still does not take any necessary steps to fix these types of issues, it is clear that the end of Macy's is not too far.

Macy's customer service reps - don't speak english well

Macy's Visa Customer Service reps do not speak or understand English very well; actually... I shouldn't generalize... but the two I spoke to (2 months apart) were damned awful. I believe they are outsourced to India, as many companies do these days.

-Both times I was asked to repeat myself 2 or 3 times through the whole conversation.
-Many times, they asked me to spell out a word and even a numeral more than once. I mean, if I have to spell out the number 2 (two), there is something wrong here! Especially when you are dealing with my money and credit rating.
-Very long and silent pauses between each answer
-In this recent instance, they called me on my cell phone requesting payment information, and when I called back with the information they requested, they couldn't locate my account by my cell phone number! Really? You JUST called me on that number. After 10 minutes on the phone trying to locate my account, he asked me more questions and I just hung up!
-The first time I called, I didn't have my account number in front of me and they also couldn't locate my account, either by name, address, SS# or cell phone. They finally found it but since I didn't have my card right in front of me they started asking me security questions. I had to get 3 answers correct before they would do anything with my account. On the one hand, I'm glad that they are that secure but I couldn't answer all of them.
-They asked me questions like, my first boyfriend's name, how many cities have I lived in, the color and type of the first car I had (the one my parents let me drive or the first one I bought?), my first elementary school! I couldn't believe it! For my car answer, I said "tan Chevette". My original answer must have been "beige Chevette". Of course they didn't understand that "tan" and "beige" are practically the same color! Ugh...
-Anyway, I am going to call back several times over the next few days, requesting my balance, next payment due, last payment paid...and record each and every one of those calls and find someone to give them to!
-I would suggest that if you need customer service go to your Macy's store and work it out there. Otherwise, beware.

I completely agree that Macy's customer service is horrific! I called about a payment and spent over an hour and a half on the phone with a woman who was telling me that my English was poor and my issue has gotten worse after I notice she took the payment amount! I'm usually very tolerant and patience with thick accents, but she was beyond rude after she started yelling at me. This was the worse customer service I have ever received in my entire life. I gave Macy's feedback, but I just got the generic 'We apologize and Thank You for your feedback'. Some of the service at the stores has also deteriorated. I try to avoid going to Macy's and if I go, I avoid using the Macy's credit card.

i disagree with the perspective that they do not have good service. I think they have excellent customer service, but only based on my only two experiences calling macys visa customer service. both times, i got reps who understood me and were very clear. they did not sound foreign at all, very American in fact. i am sure they were americans, but i want to mention that i am not bias, as long as the employee does a good job. they answered my questions perfectly. i never had to wait long at all to get customer service via the number on my card i dialed. i have enjoyed using the card and this is one of the reasons.

Mayc's has outsourced their customer service to perhaps the worst group of people EVER. It's appalling because even though their English is serviceable, the nuances of American English is LOST on them. A call that should have been resolved in 10-15 minutes...is STILL going on 1 HOUR 29 MINUTES LATER! I am CLOSING THESE ACCOUNTS. I don't know why in the world these people even bother answering the phone because while they are trying their best, their best simply is not sufficient.

Macy's took money from a credit I had in my account

Beware Macys Credit Card holders. Macy's will take it upon themselves to take your money if you have a credit on your charge card! For the last six months I had a $1.00 credit on my Macy's Credit card. I have not used the card, nor do I care to shop at Macy's. I continued to receive credit card statements showing this $1.00 credit. This time the bill was different in that it had a statement saying; "NO PAYMENT IS REQUIRED ON YOUR REVOLVING ACCOUNT. THIS CREDIT BALANCE CAN BE APPLIED TO FUTURE PURCHASES. HOWEVER, IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO OBTAIN A REFUND CHECK, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CALL OUR CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT THE PHONE NUMBER LISTED ON YOUR STATEMENT OR RETURN YOUR PAYMENT SLIP IN THE ENCLOSED ENVELOPE." I decided to call the customer service number at [protected] and spoke with Kathy. I was astonished to hear Kathy tell me that my account now had a 0 balance and Macy's removed the credit. I asked her if they issued me a check and she said ; "NO." I laughed out loud and said to her you mean they removed the dollar and kept it? She said that they did! She said she would place the $1.00 in the account and issue me a check. She said their system automatically removes this money! IF ANY OF YOU HAVE ANY CREDIT ON YOUR MACY'S ACCOUNT, GET IT OUT! Even the states have to place monies that are not accountable in Unclaimed Funds, BUT NOT MACY'S! What a joke! If I knew this wouldn't ruin my credit, or bring my credit down, I would cancel my credit card! I never intend on going there again!

Last night I wrote a letter to Macy
s in Des Moines, Iowa requesting that no more catalogs or sales events be mailed to my Post Office Box address. With all of the mail received by them there is very little room left for my reguluar mail. Although Macy's states they don't sell their customer listing; I am getting all kinds of catalogs from companies that I have never ordered from before. I am very upset and, needless to say, so is the Post Office. I can receive sales on line - once again, I don't understand why all of these other companies are sending me catalogs if my personal information was not sold/or given to them. I feel very betrayed!

Macy's mattress salespeople

I visited Macy's Carle place yesterday with my husband to look for a mattress. As my husband wasn't feeling too well, he waited in the car while I went in to see what I found comfortable and he said he'd join me in a little while. The first salesperson seemed annoyed that I was asking him specific questions about indentations, comfort in the store vs. when one has it for a while, etc. Seeing that he would rather bark at me, rather than answer my specific questions, I asked for someone else. The second sales person helped me for a while, and then my husband came in. He told me from afar that he wasn't feeling well and that he'd wait for me in the car. This salesperson had the nerve to say, "I'm not answering any more questions because if your husband makes the decisions, you'll walk out without buying anythng, " and then returned to chat with his fellow sales people. There was only one other couple looking at mattresses and they were being taken care of, so it wasn't a matter of them being busy.I tried to tell him that my husband wasn't well, and he had the nerve to deny that it was true. All I can say, is that I would NEVER PURCHASE ANYTHING AT CARLE PLACE! The sales force at Carles Place, although on commission, are representing Macy's and they should be forced to go to school to learn how to treat customers, or better yet fired. They're lucky I'm not pursuing a discrimination complaint.

Macy's macy's is a rip off!!!

I opened a macys credit card with promises that I would get 15% off at the register and 10% off my bill (which I never saw). Ok whatever, I let it go. I've had credit cards for almost 5 years and NEVER had a late payment except for now with macys changing the due date on me and sending me the statement AFTER the fact and slaming me with late fees. I dont have time to call and complain so I just paid it - whatever.

I've only had this card for about 6 months and about 2 months ago they sent me a letter telling me that they were lowering my credit limit, why you ask? get ready... their sole reason was... I only made minumum payments. I know what you are thinking... what on earth?!?! are these people insane!?! the answer is YES! I've actually paid more than the minimum payment but not according to them. About a month after that, they sent me another letter telling me they CLOSED my account for the same reason. WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH THIS COMPANY!? I dont appreciate the fact they are treating me like a delinquent customer and they are ruining my credit because I didnt pay them more than I did.

Moral of the story? STAY AWAY FROM MACYS AT ALL COSTS! Tell everyone you know to stay away from macy's. You will regret the day you ever signed up.. I know I sure do!

I will never shop at Macy's again. They sell 3rd party merchandise and if you want to return an item purchased on line they make it impossible.

I just had a harrowing experience at Macy's in Santa Rosa at the Coddington Mall. They had trouble finding the order and told me they could do nothing about it. I had the order receipt. They should have called a manager to help with the situation.

Macy's has gone so far down hill that it is now a joke! I will shred my card and never step in a Macy's again!

Thank you,

Completely unethical practice - Macy's also lured me in to getting a credit card for the discount when I made a $100 purchase. Then I never received the card or any statements in the mail. I completely forgot about the card until 2 months later, when I got a notice that my credit score (previously 830) dropped to 703. Why? Because of 2 delinquent payments for my stupid Macy's purchase! They claim they didn't have the right address, but they did, because I actually returned the item (it was defective) and they replaced it by mail to my home!

Now my credit went from exceptional to good - and the customer service reps were incredibly rude and unhelpful. I will NEVER shop there again, nor will I allow anyone of my friends or family to do so.

Thank goodness I have only made small purchases with my Macy's card. Twice in the past year I NEVER received my e-mailed statement. The interest penalty is STAGERING. If and when I use this credit again I will watch it like a hawk. I don't know if it's uncaring employees or if they seek to rip us off.

I've had Macy's horrible credit card three times in the last 15 years and they screwed me over each time. The employees are miserable and the products are mostly cheap Asian junk. What few quality items they have can be found on Amazon for much less. The store's credit practices are abusive and probably illegal. It's a mystery why anyone would work for Macy's--you'd be better-paid and -treated working as a cashier at Costco or Starbuck's or even delivering pizzas. Be wise and close your Macy's account or better don't open one in the first place. Take it from someone who made the same dumb mistake three times.

PS- also failed to mention that upon reading the fine print when signing up, its on a tiny little box where you sign your name, when questioned what I was reading because I could barely see it, the employee lied. I was depending on the employees honesty in informing me of the terms. A Macy's employee is a representative of that company, and as such should not give out false information. When I told a few friends about what happened, each had a similar Macy's credit card scam story. Macy's is in the business of retail, and also making money off of interest rates scam. Employees (from a story I read, after the fact) a pressured to do this, or they get scheduled lousy hours. Do the research, the information is out there.

A Macys empolee approached me with the discount if I applied for the card, I said no I don't want the interest rates. She actually told me to apply that day at the register and I could close it the next day or next week. The employee lied and told me there were no interest rates, no fees for signing up, etc. I was very thorough in asking her these questions. A month later I get a bill saying congratulations on your new card, which I never received, and in same letter declining my application for an American Express card. The employee signed me up for an Amex card without my knowledge. a $50 pair of jeans is now up to a few hundred dollars in interest rates as I try to get to the bottom of the matter, wasting my time dealing with rude and aggressive phone reps, harassing calls, etc. I googled Macys credit card scam and it seems Macys employees are encouraged to do this to boost sales. Im up for a class action suit if there is one!

Macy's is a greedy and unethical company. I have never paid a bill late. I pay every credit card in full every month and do not pay interest charges. In November, I was in a bad accident . Coincidentally, Macy's sent no bill that month, or I would have been alerted that there was a payment due. I acknowledge that whether billed or not, it is the consumer's responsibility to pay debt owed.
My complaint is the 1st day of a missed payment, Macy's reports negatively to the credit bureau without giving a hard working individual a chance to rectify what should have been considered extenuating circumstances. (in my case, being injured and hospitalized)
Like a writer above, I received the late notice AFTER the they had already sent negative reports to all three credit bureaus. Hmm..
My credit score from this single incident of ONE late payment (although paid in full on the 33rd day or 3 days after it was due) went from good to weak - dropping 86 points. ( I have a credit monitoring service and this was the Macy's was the only negative report on it!)
After a lengthy conversation, they told me that would turn in over to their resolution department and they I would get a report. (It's been three months - and no communication from them whatsoever.) I asked for a direct phone number to resolution and was told they didn't have one.,
I strongly suggest that you encourage your friends and family to boycott Macy's because of their unscrupulous practices (not mailing out bills, trying to collect extra fees, and having no mercy with credit reporting practices). The only way for this evil to persist is for good men and women to do nothing. Cancel your card's and do not step foot in their door of the monster called Macy's. There are plenty of other places to shop.

I am troubled by your comments Pittsburgh, PA regarding your mailed in payment. You state in your epistle that you allowed enough time (how do you define on time ) for us to process your payment... how much time did you allow for statement delivery. I inform customers that you should allow 7-10 business days.. Why is it Macy's fault... Do me a favor and take responsibility for your actions. . Regarding late fees everything is spelled out in the disclosure and it's on the back of the billing statement as well . Your comments regarding the merchandise are erroneous too.. and we have exclusive brands as well... Your statement does not seem credible.

Recently I received a bill with a late charge of $30. My check was mailed on time, but for some unanswered reason by Macy's customer service, it was received late. I said either cancel the late charge or cancel the card. Customer service said they'll cancel the card. I pay my bills every month, sometimes late like any other busy body...I'm not perfect, but I know that this one was paid on time. Macy's need customers. The internet is a great influence. I don't need Macy's. There are a glut of department stores selling the same Chinese-made garbage out there.

Unfortunally, I also felled in the deceptive advertise of Macy's I bought a very expensive item in the jewelry department. my husband did not agree with such purchase, I went back to the store a week later and they denied the return saying that because I have made too many? returns on the same month this particular piece would not be taken back. I spoke to every supervisor, the store manager, (Felicia) and very unprofessional told me that I was going to be reported to CB, The item is still in its original box tags attached. Because I did not wanted to have my credit ruin I send some payments once my savings were wiped out I stared to get in real trouble. How could Macy's claim to be a reputable store is they ripped customers, harass me calling 24/7 demanding money. My account limit was only $500 but to get me into debt approved the stupid purchase. (my daughter graduation gift ) What is worse is that my income is SSA because of my emotional and physical health. Please if you have a thought about this I would appreciate your response. I do not have anything other that my SSA income. sales personnel is so relentless in making you to make a purchase. that day there were 3 girls practically brainwashing me to buy it. I need help. my credit is ruined. and Macy's is getting away ripping off another customer. I have been a loyal customer for the past 20 years never missing a payment in full when i was working, but now things are different because of my mental and emotional health.
please share your comment. From the bottom of my heart I will appreciated. Nina

Macy's poor customer service

To whom it may concern my name is mr gilmore. I was shopping in your security square mall store on sat afternoon may 31 and your sales rep in the mens casuals area could not find the time to ring up two shirts. As she was just standing and not doing anything. She then sent me to your sales rep junique who was working across from the mens accessories register. I have worked in retail for several years and I dont think thats what customer service is about.

Macy's credit fraud

The credit office of Macy's called me from India because I was behind on my bill. I made a payment, but it took twice as long as normal business over the phone does because I could not decipher what the agent was saying to me. After that, no one in the Macy's credit office in India or Ohio could find my payment even though I had the confirmation number. The electronic check was cashed by Macy's, though. Struggled with this situation for a couple of months while still making payments. But that other payment had disappeared. I finally found out from the credit office at Bloomingdale's that the payment went to that account. And Macy's put in a negative comment on my credit. I have now asked for Macy's to explain what happened to the payment and to rescind the credit agency negative strike against me.

Just had to let folks out there know about the Macys in Henrietta New York. BEWARE. There is a woman there (still) after I called and complained to the store manager about her return habit. Twice now I have returned items that I purchased online, with a receipt mind you and TWICE she has asked for my social security number. Now I ask you why would she ask for that information? The store manager said it was company policy that she would ask for that. In plain language I said bull **** no one in their right mind would give that info for a simple return. I am a long time Kaufmanns customer and now Macy's and the manager gave me no satisfaction in this matter. I now shop at BonTon. This woman still works for Macy's. Look out folks.

Macy's macy's furniture/bedding issues

I am a furniture and bedding customer service representative for Macy's. All of the complaints I see here do have some basis. First, the stainsafe/worry-no-more is basically insurance. It is not a warranty. Insurance is something that covers you in case of accidents not from normal wear and tear type issues. Second, the technicians that Macy's sends to your home are subcontractors, THEY ARE NOT EMPLOYED BY MACY'S! They don't care what happens to your furniture. All they are there to do is make a report and give the findings to Macy's. Only Macy's can give you a resolution, no tthe technician. Third, PLEASE use a mattress pad on your new bedding. We get lots of complaints about Macy's not living up to warranties. Well, whose fault is it when a kid relieves themselves on a mattress or something is spilled on it. Is it Macy's fault? NO! Take care of your investment and it will take care of you. Fourth, we have to abide by the rules that the manufacturer's place upon us when we agree to sell their furniture. It is not Macy's that won't back up the warranty, it is the manufacturer. Take your complaints to them! Fifth, if you want to speak to a supervisor in the furniture and bedding customer service department, you have every right to. Call, [protected]. Tell the person that comes on the line that you do not want to talk to them, you only want to talk to a supervisor. And don't verify your information with the rep. You don't have to do that. That stall tactic gives the rep time to see who you are and decide how/if/when they will help you. Just say I want to talk to a lead and I do not want to verify my information. Sixth, if want definite help, ask to speak to Stuart Stockton. He is the Vice-President of Furniture/Bedding Customer Service. He will do anything to keep your business. Or you may want to talk to Kim Taylor. She is a step below Stuart Stockton and will help you as well. And one question from me: why do you buy furniture from a place that does not specialize in selling furniture. You need to go to a furniture store that only specializes in furniture and bedding. That way the sales people can give their utmost attention to you.

We had A leather chair sagging in two places, they replace it, after A month it did the same, so they sent A technician out to take pictures even though we had sent pictures. He barely spoke English, and said it was abnormal for the sagging to be in the same place, and checked the other furniture, and said he understood our situation, it was A hot day so we gave him A bottle of water, he smiled as though he would take care of it, he reported it as normal wear, we have purchased Natuzzi furniture from Macy’s twenty years ago that was made in Italy, it was Great. This is Chinese furniture that is very inferior to standard built furniture at the same price. The supervisor said that they would refund our purchase, later we got A call saying they would send the same chair out, and they knew nothing about A replacement. They record all conversations, but only pull up what they want to hear. It’s very sad that there’s no protection from these bogus companies.

Macy's furniture is the worst. Their warranty service 'worry no more' is oainful.

Here are the facts.

Fought a sectional for 5000$. Bought additional warranty for 500$.

A recliner opens out refuses to close making sectional virtually unusable.

Reported you to 'worry no more. Three weeks in many phone calls later we are told that we don't know what's happening and that I have to go to the store to get any action. 2 hours of argument in the store revealed that 'worry no more' and Macy's are not taking to each other.

Spare you the details. Hours and phone calls later number stories have been given none of them consisten. One of the macys representatives actually told me 'don't be impatient, it normally takes 4- months to get service on this 'worry no more' warranty.

I was told just now it will be another 2-3 weeks before they know anything. Meanwhile, I have a useless sofa in my living room.

My advice is stay clear of Macy's.

I wish I had seen how many complaints there are against Macy's, I would never have gone there.

Macy's is selling junk furniture at high prices. My 15 month old leather sectional is defective and they claim its wear and tear and 3 months out of warranty. I know I should have called earlier but leather should not wear out in 15 months. They are not standing behind their product. I am out $2700 but they just lost a very loyal customer who spends monthly in their stores. Good bye Macy's!

I am not accustomed to using the vocabulary that would best describe Macy's Furniture and Bedding Customer Service. The information provided by the "representative" in the original post is useless - it is either out of date or invalid, and the Macy's operator is unable to identify the persons referenced. Meanwhile, in my own case, I have told Macy that I want no further interaction with them for any reason, and want a refund of all extra warranty, service contracts, coupons, undelivered furniture, etc etc. I found out that they had tacked on nearly $1200 in "extras" to my original order, and would refund that amount - but I had to sign a form they would send in the mail. Two weeks have gone by, and no mail. So I called them again, and this time they said I was entitled to a refund of only $285 ! And they still haven't sent the letter because...uh.. they are still trying to figure out the amount of the refund owed me. I would be surprised except for the many months I have already spent as a victim of Macy's Customer Service.

What a load of b-----t. I bought my furniture from a Macy's store and have had nothing but trouble just trying to GET my furniture. Its be months since my order, and they are now in the process of delivering it - one bed rail at a time. I am supposed to stay home all day, time and again, *possibly* to receive another piece of my order. They "confirm" the delivery time the day before, and most of the time I get a robo-call instead telling me to pick a new date! When I call "customer service", I usually get disconnected before a human answers. When I get through to a human, they often know nothing about me order, or give me more conflicting information. I HAVE LEFT INSTRUCTIONS IN MY LIVING WILL TO SHOOT ME IF ANYONE SEES ME APPROACHING THE ENTRANCE OF A MACY'S FURNITURE STORE.

I complain to Macy's about a mattress set I just purchased in 2014 around March or April, the mattress is all dented in and it has my back and hips hurting so bad that I have to have shots in my back and both hips. I also informed Angel the customer service representative that my box spring is Crack down by the foot of my bed, they sent a specialist out here on Tuesday Sept. 15th 2015, he informed me that my mattress is off the normal requirements and to wait two days before I called Marcy'S back . He also warned me that Macy's might give me a hard time in replacing my Mattress, he never reported that my box spring is cracked on the foot of the bed. I was told by Angel that there was nothing that they could do for me. I got my Mattress from Macy's because I thought that they were like Sears and live by their name. But I see that they are not. Today I am receiving my third bed railing because it keeps braking down. My sister in Atlanta GA, was going to spend over $2000. For a Mattress from Macy's but I know once she see what has happened to me and I am going to send her the negative posting that Macy's is getting about their Mattress I am sure that she won't be spending her money at Macy's. The railing I purchased was a life time warranty and they have already including today replaced three times. Macy's has really came down, they use to be number 1. Not in my book and I am sure with reading all these complaints. Also I told the sales rep. In the store in Orland Park that I was looking for a soft bed and she lied to me. When I told the warehouse what she said I was told it takes ato least two weeks before the bed would feel soft. Now I am being told that I ordered a firm mattress. I had a knee replacement in 2010, what do I need a firm bed for. Also it's a shame that I have to go to a Hotel /Motel to get some sleep and it is really a shame when the Hospital bed is more comfortable then my bed. My name is Donevette Evans

I bought a sectional from Macy's, along with the manufacturer's warranty. Within days of delivery, a pillow zipper broke open. I threw it in a closet because I was in the middle of a house flip and had no time to address something as inconsequential as a broken zipper. Five months later, with a clearer schedule, I went to Macy's to see about getting a replacement pillow. They told me to call the warranty company - who kept me on hold for 20 minutes. Their resolution? I was S.O.L. because I didn't report the problem within 15 days of the occurrence. Stupid me. And stupid them. I won't be buying anything from them going forward. I mean seriously...they can't fix a broken zipper?

It looks like I have owned my living room furniture for ten years plus.
I have owned it for sixteen months.
This furniture is an embarrassment considering the price I paid.
Shameful, non lasting furniture.
This living room furniture is pure crap.
I buy furniture meant to last years.
It was poorly made.
Worst decision in my life was to buy furniture from Macy's.

Macy's visa

March 2008 I tried to place two orders online at Macy's, I got an error msg, after a few attempts of nothing I decided not to bother with making the purchase, but Macy's charged my Visa for all of the items and this was done twice, and they claim that they didn't take any actions as such. I got a Detailed Transaction Data Report from Visa Transaction Research Service that gave me a documented copy of the time, and date that Macy's took the funds off my visa. I have been thru countless emails of constant back and fourth with absolutely NO PROGRESS from Macy's. Their Customer Service LACKS in great detail any degree of PROFESSIONALISM, this document was sent to them as proof in a pdf file, they claim that because of Virus I should send it via text, this was also sent via text, and they still refuse to put my funds back on my visa. Now they say there was no purchase, meaning if there was no purchase they would not take funds off my visa. I feel violated, frustrated, disgusted, and dissapointed with Macy's, one would expect a certain level of class with a store as such, that is considered the largest or one of the largest stores in the U. S.
I strongly advise any and everyone NOT TO EVER MAKE A PURCHASE ONLINE AT ANY MACY'S LOCATION! Something has to be done, this company needs to pay for ripping off hard working honest customers!

I have to agree with you. I have purchased many items on Macy's.com and when I check on them they are on sale. I call they agree to credit back the difference, they don't I call again they appologise for the inconvenience, again no credit. Then to add insult to injury when I (stupidly) order again, they do not include a UPS return label. I call they appologise etc etc etc

I ordered a REAL nice (looking) pair of boots from Macy's. I thought, that I could trust this name to send me only the BEST of quality boots. They sent me a pair where the left boot was mal-formed and facing out to the left. I sent them back, and then they sent me a bill for $21.67. I, of course, refused to pay it, and got it reversed, but the fact of the matter is, they did NOT include a return policy for faulty products sent. If you got a faulty product, YOU had to eat the cost of sending it back. It is deducted from your refund, also, they fix it (to where) if you try to find out how much it would REALLY cost to send it back, (on your own) they have it fixed (to where you can't.) You get charged what THEY want to charge you in shipping, whether it costs that much or not.

I felt that, because I ordered these boots online, they probably sent me a pair that had already been sent back, with the hopes that I wouldn't go thru the trouble of sending them back, and, if I DID, they'd still make money off of me.

Macy's sales ad 12/12-12/17/07

I received a sale's add from one of Macy's Christmas sales event for 12/12/07 thru 12/17/07 that had three children on the front cover. The children were all dressed nice and festive, except that the child on the right was a boy, because he was wearing a santa mask, however, he was dressed like a girl. I thought that was inappropriate attire for a young boy. My own children remarked when they saw the add, and one of them asked, "mom, why is this kid dressed like a girl". This type of advertising is confusing our children or I think a subtle way of trying to brain wash our children into believing that it's okay for boys to dress like girls, etc... It's wrong!

Macy's suspicious finance charges on macy's credit account

I just got off the phone with Macy's Credit Customer service. I called because I had a perfectly proper $120 charge on my store card .

My bill was due 2 days from today. Payment’s already processing at my bank so they will receive payment on time (like they usually do).

But get this – they actually posted a $2.15 finance charge to the account, even though it was not yet past the due date..

Call me picky, but aren’t finance charges supposed to apply *after* the bill due date?

I had a 0 balance before the $120 charge, so this “finance charge” was not related to any prior past-due amount.

So I call up, and guess what – Macy’s saw fit to “proactively” apply a finance charge to my account. Per the US call center rep – “This is our way of letting you know what the finance charge *would* be *if* you missed your payment”. What?!

Apparently, this is their “standard procedure” for all customer accounts.

If you pay in full, on time, the finance charge is struck from your account. Which is fine – everything balances out.

Here’s the catch though – when Average Joe look up his account balance on Macy’s website, he sees the amount due *including* the finance charge – in my case $122.15 ($ 120 in purchases, $2.15 in finance charges)

So one could very easily send in a payment inclusive of the mystery finance charge, which Macy’s then allows to sit as a “credit” in the account.

Which is also fine, but suppose 10,000 customers (conservatively) send in an extra buck or two in alleged finance charges. These will all sit as credits in their individual accounts – and guess who picks up the interest on that ~20,000 Dollars – yep – Macy’s. I wouldn’t mind having a conversation with someone over there about what APR they pay their customers for these “credits” in their accounts.

This reeks of a scam, even though I’m sure it’s somewhere in the fine-print of their credit agreement.

I’m gonna blog this everywhere I can. Can you tell I’m peeved?

I agree, post it on Facebook. I am the latest victim of Macy's scam. And they lowered my Macy's AE credit limit by $400, and my Macy's card by $600.

Apparently there's a clause in Macy's agreement which states that customers cannot bring a class action lawsuit againt them, and vice versa.

So, we have to pay a $2 fee forever?! Time to cancel my card.

I had the same experience as others above. I have had a Macy's American Express card for over 10 years and never have had problems until recently.

I had a $0 balance, pay off purchases on time each month. In October 2014, I had a purchase of $132.00 due on November 6, 2014. The payment amount of $132.00 cleared my bank on November 5, 2014. Today, November 20, 2014, I receive a bill from Macy's indicating I owe $138.69. They applied a "late payment fee" of $5 and claim I owe a finance charge of $2.09. THIS IS FRAUD!

Now I have to spend MY valuable time squabbling with them to resolve the issue, and confirm that this does not appear on my credit report. If others on this board can advise how this FRAUDULENT ACTIVITY can be stopped for others, or Macy's somehow penalized, I would be willing to expend even more effort pursuing it.

Dear Macy's/Bloomingdale's credit customers, I work for the call center in one of the departments for these two companies. I deal with their credit accounts and I hate to be a traitor but my advise to you is RUN! I and my other coworkers are disgusted by the craziness that we see. All the scams, loopholes and sneaky ways to make an extra buck are appalling. For instance, if you typically make minimum payments on your account and then one month you decide to pay off the total balance before the coming due date, the company will wait until about 5 days after you pay that amount, leaving yourself at a zero balance, and then place "remaining interest" on the account. Trick is, you won't know about it because it is placed on the account AFTER you pay it in full. You can even ask the amount needed to zero out your account before making the large payment. They'll tell you that amount. But the "remaining interest" goes on AFTER the payment. And it's so conveniently within the same billing cycle that you made your payment. So you won't even see that there's a new balance until your next statement arrives. Assuming you even check it considering you just paid your balance off. If you don't catch this before your next due date you'll get hit with a late charge and another interest charge. I could go on and on about this.

Secondly, you may notice that you make payments in the store to your store account, and the receipt says the payment was properly applied to the correct account. But the system "accidentally, somehow" puts the payment your Macy's/Bloomie's American Express account for purchases made outside of the store. You know it was properly applied. But you don't think about it. The collection calls start but you can't be reached. So there's late and interest fees piling up and unless you are reached to put the payment where it should have gone, your balance will grow. Now, say this goes untreated for 2 months. You'll report to the credit bureau, get two late charges. If you finally have it straightened out, one late charge will be credited. Not both and most likely not the interest charges. And that's usually only if you ask.

As I said, there are SO many sneaky ways that they mess things up to swindle customer's out of money. Purposely NOT sending new customers their bills, not applying discounts from the store, lying about credit card terms, creating a separate account for purchases made outside of the store, and not telling you about it, changing the minimum payment amount but not sending notice. We are all disgusted. I personally, try to credit fees and help these customers as much as I can. It looks bad to my superiors but i'm human and I have a conscious. I hate working for such a slimy, unprofessional company but as hard as it is to find a job, I must stay where I am. Hopefully i've helped some people by coming out with the truth.

So do your research and realize that signing up for an account to get a 20% discount on your purchase may be the biggest mistake of your credit history. Macy's/Bloomies will screw you one way or another. I can honestly say I will never have any interest in EVER having a credit card with either of these slimy companies.

This is about a mattress Macy's sold me that is CLEARLY defective to the tune of $1000; I toss and turn all night long, and wake up in the middle of a crater! I am tired of talking to them -- I agree w/Macy's boycotter, their customer service is HORRIFIC at best and PATHETIC in truth! They think that by avoiding this issue, it will go away!
I will NEVER buy anything ELSE at Macy's again and am going to do everything in my power to tell everyone about this experience and warn them NOT to shop at Macy's!

Oh My God. This is true. I and my friend have same experiences with macys. In the statement my total amount was $201+$2 interest. So noticing that the $2 were interest charges if we miss to make the payment, i made a payment of $201. But my next statement came up saying that there was a $2 due on my account and the interest for that is another $2. So the total due was $4. Heres where it differed between me and my friend. I paid off the $4 and then called customer service the next month and got it reverted to my account. But friend did not make the payment. She saw an amount of $38 due on her account. Which included late payment fee of $30 and an interest charge of $4 plus the previous balance of $4.

Well, I have a better story then the above. I opened a new charge with Macy's in Dec of last year. When I got my first bill it included a $2.00 interest charge. It said that if I paid before the due date then I would get a credit on my next statement. Well I paid the $92.48 that I owed and not the $94.48 that they were asking for. Well on my next statement it said that I still owed the $2.00. So I tried calling the customer service dept. which is a joke. I was told that it would wipe out on the next statement. I said ok, well got the new statement today, and now the total is $4.00. They just keep adding in the $2.00 every month that I don't pay it. So I called again and was told that I needed to pay the $4.00 and next month they would credit me, even though I don't owe them anything. I was going to pay it and then cancel the card. But I wasn't brought up to pay for something that I didn't owe. So I called back, spoke to a supervisor who said I was correct and put me to a $0 balance. I am so mad at them that I called later and canceled the card. With times being like they are can Macy's really afford to piss off their customers like that. I won't be shopping there anymore. I have plenty of other options of where to shop and not have to go through this to get what I want.
""FYI, IF YOU SHOP AT MACY'S DON'T USE THEIR CARD, BECAUSE IN THE END IT WILL COST YOU MORE THEN THE DISC THEY GIVE YOU IN AGGRAVATION!

I believe this is a situation where I feel laughed at by the visa corporation. I am going to pay my balance without the financial charges and they better not charge me interest over this "financial charges" that they decide to calculate ahead of time. And then I will cancel this visa macy's card.

I pay my bill by snail mail. I just looked at the New Balance which is written in bold letters. It includes the bogus interest charges. The actual amount owed I had to derive by reading all the lighter amounts listed above it. For someone in a hurry, they would just see the bold balance and assume that was what they owed. That's what I did and am now going to have to wait to get my $2 back. It seems there are a lot of us that see this as a way to extract a loan from customers. Reading the fine print at the bottom of the printed statement, you will find that with this proactive charge being applied, the "actual ANNUAL PERCENTAGE RATE charged on that account is 61.32%" ! They can have their card back!

Macy's account number scam!

I received a bill for items charged on my Macy's charge card. I paid the bill with my on line bill payer account. Macy's rejected the bill due to what they said was an incorrect account number. The account number I used was the one they sent me. Then they began to tack on finance and late fee charges. They said I should not have included the last two numbers on the account number THEY SENT ME. I told Macy's I would pay my original bill, they could cancel any finance and late fee charges, and they could cancel my account forever. Can you imagine how much money they could obtain doing this? I am appalled.

I purchased 4 tickets on my Macy's credit card to go to the
Indiana Black Expo for my husband's Birthday celebration.
During the purchase I was told by a Macy's employee the seating arrangements would be fl2 section row L seat 11, 12, 13 & 14.
Upon going to the concert on 7/19/08 @ 7:00pm the concert did not start until shortly after 9:00pm, We went to our seats as soon as we got there and was told by the security staff the concert has now been changed to general seating in which we was not informed of this in purchasing 50.00 tickets and an 8.40 service charge. If we would have known it was going to be general admission I would have never purchased the tickets. I feel this was false advertisement and I should be granted a full refund. Also at 11:00 all of the artist had not showed up.

I am not surprised. Today I opened my statement, and they applied my payment (which was received on time) to my "Revolving Account" -- which had no balance. My "Major Purchases" account, however, did not reflect the payment due so they hit me with a late fee. So here I am with a "past due" Major Purchases account and a $250 Credit Balance on an empty "Revolving" account. I assume they will fix the error, but I agree can you imagine how many people they scam out of their money? You have to examine everything like a hawk. Who has time to fix corporate scams all day?
