I purchased an LG Model LFC S 27596 S refrigerator in 2021 from Lowe's, paying around $1750 for it; approximately six months after the purchase, the push-button opener for the "door within a door" broke whereupon I notified LG c.s. While some of the details of how the service was handled are hazy, I do remember after much back and forth, they finally sent me the ENTIRE door handle, not just the push-button, which was a bit over the top, but anyway, at least they covered it. Approximately 5-6 months after this, both roller assemblies on the bottom drawers broke, by the time I got in touch with their c.s. dept again, it was after the one-year parts guarantee deadline, but I pursued it anyway, even contacting an assistant to the CEO ombudsman who seemed to take interest in my case and promised me they'd send the parts, well I waited and waited, contacting her after another month passed, my calls were forwarded to v.m. and I never again got a return call from her. I tried going to the regular c.s. complaints dept but kept getting the runaround, telling me they'd try and get them, but they never came. I tried intermittently over the next year or so to get back in contact with the ombudsman but no luck, so for 2+ years I gave up. Just recently I contacted them again, they found the records but informed me they would not cover the some $25 worth of parts because my claim was out of warranty, after explaining again that the problem started before the warranty period was up, they still would not budge off their position, they did offer a 15% discount but it just stunk to high heaven to me because of the issue and I wasn't going to pay the exorbitant cost of a few plastic parts. I've tried appealing this to a higher authority w/in the company but have had no luck. This kind of failure to stand behind some shoddy plastic parts which even if it were 3 or 4 months after the warranty period it seems they'd cover it to preserve the integrity of the name LG, but it seems they don't care, even after I warned them I would blast this all over social media, they still didn't care. I am a retired U.S. Army veteran who lives alone and has no kids or others who would ostensibly abuse any part of the refrigerator, in fact, I am very careful with expensive items in my home.
Recommendation: Make sure you observe closely anything on an LG product, if it looks like it's going bad, notify them immediately and caveat emptor when purchasing anything from them.
