I recently bought a NEW KIA Sportage Hybrid on 9/26 from Value KIA Philadelphia
On the ride home from the dealer, the check engine light came on and I had to return to have a MAP sensor replaced.
The car seemed to sputter while getting up to speed but I thought this was part of the transition from electric to gas in the engine so kept driving it for a few weeks.
Then on 11/4 the check engine light came back on and took it in for service. Didn't hear anything so I called on 11/13 and was told it needed a new transmission, after only 1330 miles and they would put in a claim with KIA to get a new one.
Didn't hear any update and called again on 11/21. Was told it would be another two weeks. Service agent said there only one tech to work on cars.
I am paying $750 a month on this new car and it appears that I will be without it for a full month, after only 1,330 miles. I believe after 20 days in the shop it may qualify for a claim under the lemon laws in Pennsylvania. I Don't recommend a KIA or buying from Value KIA as one technition is a weak service department.
Claimed loss: $750 finance payment, pain and suffering working without a quality car.
