A few weeks ago during a rain storm, the SNOW WHITE paint on my 2020 kia started to bubble. After the rain stopped it went away. Then a week later it rained again. We had some wind with this storm and it popped the bubble. Ever since the paint has been peeling off in sheets. There is no dent on my car. This did not come from rock chips or anything I have caused. I filed a complaint with KIA directly. They told me I was out of warranty. I escalated the issue and they told me to go get an estimate from a KIA dealership. It is an hour and a half from where I live. I did that, then I get another message telling me again it is out of warranty and they will not provide goodwill assistance to fix it. I am responsible for all repairs. This is unacceptable. I have talked to another collision company and he told me flat out that this was a snow white KIA problem. He had seen it over and over again. He told me eventually my entire will start peeling too. I REFUSE to eat the cost for this. I will hire an attorney if I have to. With the multiple complaints and lawsuits KIA should be issuing a recall for this paint.
Desired outcome: I want KIA to take accountability for their defective paint. I should be getting my entire car repainted, but I at least want the hood repainted where it is peeling off.

I have a paint issue as well. Fortunately not too widespread (yet). Someone suggested to file a complaint with NHTSA to help generate attention from Kia and hopefully get them to declare a recall for defective paint. I did this on 11-22-25. I found 5 other NHTSA Complaint cases for the same thing (same model and year) that I cited in my complaint. Do a search on this page https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls to see how many complaints currently exist. Click on the Vehicle search term (default) and then in the box on the right (VIN or Year Make Model) just type in 2020 Kia. All of the models will appear in a list and the number of complaints that have been filed (it includes all types of complaints, so you will have to the number in the matrix to drill down and see what each complaint is about). To file a complaint, go to https://www.nhtsa.gov/report-a-safety-problem#/vehicle and click on the button to Start Form. PLEASE add your complaint to the pile to help NHTSA start an investigation!
