After service was completed, the fun began. I was told the complementary oil change did not include sales tax on the regular charge for an oil change nor the miscellaneous charges for OSHA/EPA compliance (I assume that meant shop supplies and oil disposal). I was handed an itemized bill after requesting it. Those items totaled $16.22. My credit card receipt indicated a charge of $18.45 plus a surcharge of $.54 to cover the credit card fee they would be charged.
Since I was actually billed $0 for the oil change, which they rung up at $70.00 should I pay sales tax on a Zero dollar transaction? I would love to hear where the $2.23 extra charge went.
I filed a complaint with the Louisiana Attorney General requesting they audit all of this dealership's service transactions for the previous 6 months to determine if they overcharged all of their customers or they just decided to overcharge me.
I own a Toyota. Their complimentary oil changes are really free.
Also, Change your KIA's oil every 5-6000 miles. When you have a warranty issue on the drivetrain they will automatically tell you that you must have driven under the most severe of conditions as outlined in their maintenance manual and deny your warranty claim if you change the oil every 8000 miles as stated for moderate driving conditions.
Recommendation: Get a statement from your dealer that the complimentary oil change is really free. If not, check the itemized bill against what you are actually billed for or Pay cash in the amount of the itemized bill..
