so, where is the discrimination?

discrimination: treatment or consideration of, or making a distinction in favor of or against, a person or thing based on the group, class, or category to which that person or thing belongs rather than on individual merit

again, this is not discrimination. perhaps stereotyping, but that is still somewhat of a stretch by the sense of the word. in the end, they are preventing theft. even if your daughter had no intention, they stopped a possible attempt at stealing. absolutely nothing wrong with how they handled it.

It does not matter if she had money to spend. I work at Wal-mart and one of the people they arrested he had stolen things I don't know what amount, but he had a thousand dollars on him. That was a rare case to have that much money on you, but we get people stealing things and they have well over twice the amount of money on them as the items they sold, so the whole my daughter just got paid and had money to spend does not do squat.

Unfortuntaely many people use big bags to conceil merchandise. Don't blame the store blame the dishonest people.

I admit when my daughter was younger she did steal from Dollar General, but that was probably under the influence of her father, though he claimed he punished her. So because she stole before they are discriminating against her. She has learned her lesson now. I hope all of you die a horrible painful death, along with the dollar store employees. They called the cops on me when I wanted to talk about my daughter who is being discriminated against.

I would like to apologize for those comments. The last two especially, my daughter posted them. Yes she was caught stealing six months ago. I still say that I discriminated against because of something that happened previously. I had no idea my daughter posted those last two or three comments. Yes like I have said I have been caught stealing, but she has learned her lesson and because of her previous encounter she is being discriminated against. She is not even using the same bag, and like she said it was her father who probably pressured her to steal, though both deny it. The point is my daughter should not have been asked to leave her bag on the front of the store.

My mother said I have to apologize to you for posting rude comments, so sorry. But still you are discriminating against me because of my age. Grow up. Im not happy with you all. You are adults. Im just a teenager and you are picking on me, you bullies.

not only your comments, but your past actions just give more backing to the store that asked you to leave your bag at the front. its not discrimination if there is risk. you have displayed risk from having a record of it. perhaps you should be happy that they even let you in the store. businesses have the legal right to refuse service to anyone. as to your past comments on here, i dont feel bad for the trouble you brought on yourself.

someone had posted about the 2 different accounts with the same "dollar general store" name. one thing that i just noticed when looking through the posts by the supposed "mother" the last post on page 2, states

But, looking over the OP that has 1 complaint and 3 posts did not post the above statement that i listed. The account that has 5 posts, posted the above comment and is also the same one that is sending out the PM's.

seems that someone is forgetting which account they are using for certain comments. should brush up on your parenting skills

I received a rude letter as well.Whoever- mother or daughter- sent it seems to think I am a male, which is a bit worrying. No one deserves to receive that horrible letter that the OP/daughter sent. I was not judging, only saying that it is not good to write with the Capslock on and that I did not believe there was discrimination. I think the OP is showing discriminatory behaviour.

you didnt miss much. the best i could come up with as far as a comeback to it was to tell her to play in traffic.

Yeah I got one of those private messages as well. Yes the second person posting is another account. However I got a private message from both Dollar General Store users. One was the same message you got, from the second person registered under the username Dollar Store General, and the other was from the original which was more personalized and more like the first post of the second person with the same username.

I guess this ignorant person did not understand the point I was trying to make. (the original poster). She says she is not acting childish but well she is. However the fake poster and the real poster have many differences. For example the Original poster has poor spelling and grammar, and the fake one has close to perfect spelling and grammar. The personalized private message I got was the same writing style and account as the person first posting this letter saying the same things she said. Just ignore it. The original poster has anger issues(which could explain why she is divorced) and the imposter poster is trolling.

You guys this is the exact same person who would probably make a complaint to Boy Scouts of America and write about how they discriminated against her boyfriend and did not allow him to be a leader just because he is a pedophile. She would say that they are discriminating against pedophiles by not allowing him to become their leader. Seriously I doubt your daughter even cared they made her leave her bag with them. I think you are more concerned about this than your daughter and like Trevor said, with your attitude no wonder you are divorced.

You say people with money don't steal. They do I forget who this is but someone connected to Kmart who makes millions was arrested for shoplifting. Also if you make so much money why did your daughter steal previously.

i have to assume that maybe someone is forgetting to log out. But, with as much money as they claim to have, i would have to think that both of them have their own computer. either way, they are both just as ###ed as the other

I have been told to leave my bag at the register a few times as well... I happen to be Asian and I don't consider it discrimination against me.

Yeah she sent the same message to me about being a junkie. I think she meant alcohol foxfyre? The funny thing is some of her messages were sent from the original account and others from the second account.

I live in a town where shoplifting is rampant, there are some gas stations here that not only do you have to leave your bag in the corner, but also only a certain number of people are allowed in the store at a time... regardless of color, race or creed.

Most of our dollar and clothing stores have explicit signs on the door asking you to leave your bag with the cashier, regardless of size. Because of this I usually take my card and my Id and throw my bag in the trunk when I know im going out shopping. This stops me from being stopped and I can do my shopping in peace.

This is not a discrimination issue, unless you want to pull "big bags" into that category ( and if that's the case you need to be institutionalized) People need to stop pulling the race/discrimination card. It's that irrational thinking from any community that is keeping you down. You are a proud woman, be proud and be glad to be you. Didn't the African American community ask to have equal rights? Well, getting your bag checked and/or kept at the register or your receipt checked at the door is something EVERYONE puts up with. Welcome to Equal Rights.

Well honey, NO WONDER they called her out. I don't care if she only stole once and learned her lesson. She's proven she has no qualms about it and MIGHT do it again!

I so wish I was more prevalent in computers, i would send your response to every dollar store, your church, your family and also to the cops. I bet they called the cops because you threatened them. Just because you are behind a keyboard doesn't mean you cannot be charged.

@ Gino - Yeah, most likely not... you have a point. @Zachary, I almost believe you except I have met mothers like this who are so on the "everyone is discriminating against me" band wagon that them, nor their children or family can do no wrong. Plus the praying then wishing death on people... really pushed my button there. Can I still wish to send this letter to her family, church and the ex? :)

Don't blame the manger he or she ( I could finish reading because of the text) for asking your little girl too put the purse near the cashier, the store proably got robbed recently or had items stolen from employees, etc.

Very similar situation in my case: after hearing my accent, the clerk immediately asked me to put a small shoulder bag I was holding by the register. At the same time there were a few women in the store, with even bigger bags walking around. I had to call DG corporation and report it.
