Days Inn uncleanliness, inaccessible areas for disabled, racism

Re: Days Inn Hotel - 1825 Lorain Blvd Elyria, Ohio

I have stayed at this hotel MANY times over the years while visiting family in the area, and never had any problem. However, on this visit, I noticed immediately that the hotel was "under new management" and the quality of everything was the complete opposite of all previous stays.
We experienced uncleanliness, inaccessible areas for disabled guests (serious fire hazard!), and rampant racism from the new "owner." It was unbelievable!
First, upon entering the lobby there was a foul/musty odor which permeated the entire hotel. The common areas were littered with trash (as well as the parking lot), and it appeared as though it hadn't been properly cleaned in weeks!
Secondly, I am a disabled veteran. We were given a floor on the 6th floor. There were only 2 elevators in the hotel, and 1 of those was out of service the entire stay...and I never saw anyone working on it. The 2nd elevator was obviously just barely operational and wait times were ridiculous because 6 floors had to use 1 elevator. On the 2nd day, I experienced a situation where the operational elevator (barely) was out of service for a period of time as well, and the only way to exit our floor was by stairs. Because of my disability, I have a very hard time with stairs, and after 6 flights of them, my pain was unbearable. In addition, after making it to the ground level, we discovered that the exit was blocked off and had to then go back UP one level to enter another area of the hotel and find an exit. This was an obvious fire hazard, and scary for someone with a disability who might have to exit quickly if there was an emergency.
Secondly, our room on the 3rd day was different (because we weren't planning to stay but ended up staying another night) than the first 2 nights. The card reader on the door was literally duct taped onto the door, the room was not clean at all, and there was no microwave. When we asked about this (again, probably stayed at least 12-15 other nights over the past 18 months and each time the room had a microwave) we were told by a very rude front desk woman that "microwaves were not guaranteed" and if we wanted one in our room, we would "have to request it from the front desk and they would have maintenance bring one to the room."
Thirdly, the phone in the room did not work at all (not even a dial tone...had to call the front desk from our cell phone).
And lastly, we encountered some of the most blatant and shocking racism I've ever witnessed. My husband had a heart attack while we were in the area and was admitted to Metro Hospital (which is why we ended up staying another day...but then went to stay with family after the incident occurred). The doctors told him he needed to be on complete bed rest for 3-4 days after being discharged. The morning of our last day, I went downstairs to get something to eat from the breakfast area. I immediately noticed that it was completely different than previous stays, with 2 out of 4 of the juices being "out-of-order", bread and bagels literally just thrown on a cookie sheet with some plastic wrap over them instead of being in the pastry case that was there before, and out of 4 cereals, only 1 was filled up (frosted flakes - but no milk available). I proceeded to make a plate for my husband and as I was getting ready to leave the breakfast area to take it to him, the same rude front desk woman told me that we weren't allowed to take food back to our rooms (although people were having pizza & all kinds of food delivered the night before). I explained to her that my husband was on bed rest due to doctors orders, and that he wasn't supposed to be walking that far. She told me (with attitude) that was too bad, he could either walk to the breakfast area, or not eat. She then made me throw away the whole plate of untouched food. When I went back to the room and told my husband what had happened, he insisted on getting up and walking down to the breakfast area (even though he wasn't supposed to). With his hospital bracelet still on, we stopped at the front desk to express our dissatisfaction with the employee to a manager. At first we were told that the manager wasn't there, but upon requesting that the front desk call him, a man came out of the back room and indicated he was the "owner." We explained to him the situation, as well as all of the other things we had noticed while staying there. He told us if we didn't like it, we could go somewhere else, and then asked for our room number. When I told him our room number, he said, "ok, now I've blocked you so you can't ever stay here again." Then my husband questioned how he could be so insensitive being that customer service and hospitality are supposed to be the #1 goals for any hotel. At this point, he actually threatened to call the police on my husband (who had just got out of the hospital 12 hours earlier, and who was in no way hostile towards the owner or anyone else, and who was only being treated the way he was by the owner because of racism). As I witnessed the interaction between the owner and my husband, I was thoroughly shocked at the level of racism on display, lack of empathy, absence of concern for a paying customers' well-being, and total disregard for any form of proper customer service.
This "owner" needs to be fired, and all of the employees need to attend diversity training as well as being trained on laws regarding disabled individuals.
This hotel is a huge stain on the Days Inn brand, and will continue to bring in bad reviews and complaints as long as the current staff are allowed to continue running the hotel this way.
I am holding off on blasting every hotel review website with our experience until I give the corporate office a chance to rectify the problems. I think it's fair to let you know first and see if anything is done about it before putting any negative reviews out there.
What we experienced in terms of racism, access for disabled individuals, and disgusting/unclean rooms & common areas is just unacceptable.
I would appreciate a follow-up email from someone letting me know if these issues will be addressed.

My email address is : [protected]@hotmail.com

Elizabeth Whitsel

Days Inn reservation of 2 rooms for 5 days not honor

04/16/2018 I had made a reservation over the phone, pay with my credit card.
this is a business trip when the employees got to the hotel tired from all day work David, say to my crew you can't check in. and cuz. the owner of the card is not present. And did not bother to tell me this when I made the reservation this is not the services I expected from a hotel

So a business owner has to travel with the crew so they are present to pay for employees rooms?

Days Inn filthy rooms

On Saturday, April 14/18, we checked into the Days Inn, in Renfrew Ontario. we were exhausted, having almost completed our journey across Canada. we stopped in Renfrew (my home town) and were surprised to see such lack of accommodations, but the Days Inn looked quite acceptable from the outside, so we checked in. There were two cars in the parking lot, but were told that all rooms were booked and we would have to be put on the 4th floor. upon entry into the room, we were greeted with a huge bleach stain on the rug, and terrible filth. we were far too exhausted to consider leaving and heading to Arnprior, and especially with an ice storm looming.
when the lights were on for a short while, the bugs came out. all over the ceiling and the carpeting. we killed as many as we could, including some unknown types on the bed. we had to scrape the filth off of the sides of the toilet. we were disgusted and left as early as possible, feeling as if we were carrying their filth with us.
we were always under the impression that Days Inn had a standard to follow. shame on you.

Days Inn collins ave, sunny isles, fl

I just spent 4 nights at your Thunderbird Days Inn location on Collins Ave. in Sunny Isles, FL. The only reason I stayed here was because of the participation in the Wide Screen Film Festival, which was also a disaster because no one at the hotel knew anything about it.
Upon an 11:00 PM check in on Thursday Arpil 12;
- the bathroom towels were stained
- the carpet is stained, moldy and disgusting
-BROWN water came out of sink AND shower head upon turning them on, (it was obvious that no one has stayed in that room in a while)
-that night, the room next door to me was occupied by 4-5 people having a party
-marajuana was coming through the adjacent door and didn't stop until 5:30-6:00 AM
-the walls were so thin, I heard every conversation and the yelling
- I believe them to be "hookers" working the area as I can hear their conversation and they in and out of the room
-I called the front desk a few times, they sent security, but they did not enforce any of the rules and I got NO SLEEP.
Upon approaching the desk in the AM, the "manager" told me that I, and he, were victims of the area and there was nothing he could do. He somewhat affirmed that it was a party and he knew what was going on. NO apology, no offer of a credit or anything. I walked away disgusted.
I received a Breakfast coupon and took it to the restaurant on premises. The coupon reads "continental breakfast" but its only good for toasted bread or bagel. The restaurant told me to take it up with management at the hotel- a complete SCAM! The restaurant was not very clean and very out dated.
Friday night, the music coming from the bar by the pool, was loud every night until 12:00 AM. The front desk informed me that they have nothing to do with the bar, but they would call, they didn't and I was up much later than I had liked. I also noticed that there was lot of children and families were there, I cannot imagine that I was the only one complaining.
There are a few more issues that I encountered but it's not worth my time anymore. I plan on writing reviews on all travel web sites and gloving this hotel ZERO STAR rating. You should do everyone a favor and demolish that building! I will NEVER even entertain having my crew and staff staying at a Days Inn ever in my life.

Days Inn services

I stayed at Days Inn Columbus Airport the address is 750 Stelzer Road, Columbus, Ohio 45822. The dates were April 12-15. I have a lot of problems with the stay.
1. There was a fire on April 13 at 4:00 am in a electrical closet across the hall from my room. The fire alarm had to go off twice and me calling the front desk before the fire department was called.
2. I mentioned twice to the front desk people that my stuff smelled like smoke from the fire. They not once offered to clean things up or helped to make things right.
3. It is now April 16th my $400 dollars worth of luggage is ruined from smoke damage that now I need to replace.
4. They did give me a new room, but the bathroom toilet did not work correctly I reported that to them. It still wasn't fixed correctly so whenever I had to go to the restroom I had to go all the way to the first floor to use the bathroom.
5. My 2nd day in the new room I didn't receive any new bathroom towels so I had to go to the front desk to get some so I could take a shower till I did.
I would like to get my money back for at least the first night also I would like to also have my luggage replaced. As of right now I will not be doing any business with this Days Inn.

Employees doing drugs which the smell went to the whole 2nd floor. Dust everywhere. They don't vaccume. After we entered our room we it was a no brainer. Don't use the pool or eat there breakfast. I do have a video but it won't let me post it.

Days Inn charge for non stay

I was booking through Expedia for a hotel stay for a road trip from FL to NJ (3/30-4/9). We stop in Fayettsville NC (1/2 way) for a nights rest. I usually use Expedia for these hotel stays as I can compare rates and read reviews. I booked a few motels then cancelled after comparing prices. I booked 2 Days Inn's in Fayettsville and my husband had asked me if the 1st one( NW Fort Bragg Area, #[protected]/Conf #83815EC006090) was close to I95, it was not, I was sure I cancelled this stay as I had cancelled @ least 2 other locations for this same reason. We had also booked and stayed at Days Inn and Suites in Fayettsville which was close to I95 and we did this directly through the hotel. The first Days Inn near Fort Bragg charged us $78.26 even prior to a pre-noted check in time and, refused to honor any cancellation charges (vs full room cost amount) or to reimburse us at all even though we were staying at another Days Inn for $67.24.
My husband and I are retired and on a fixed income. $78.26 is a lot of money to us. We are quite upset about this. We ask that as a company you reconsider and refund us the $78.26 amount. We would be most appreciative.
Regards,
MaryBeth Farrelly

Days Inn service and facility

This has been by far, the worst experience that I've ever had at a hotel. I normally would never complain, I'd just not use the services anymore. But this experience definitely deserves a complaint. I have a reservation from 4/9-4/12 however, I refuse to stay for its duration. The first room (#210) that was assigned to me was decent at first sight until I actually walked into the room. The blanket on one of the beds had two huge burn holes in it, the mesh on the computer chair was completely ripped off and merely laying on the back of the chair and there was hair in the bathtub and on the walls of the bathtub area. I decided that these things were unacceptable but tolerable. Not staying wasn't an option because I'm coming from Houston and both of my sons have the flu. Then the next morning, the toilet began to run and wouldn't stop so it overflowed on the floor. The maintenance man came to check on it and when my 12 year old son opened the door, the man said to him (and I quote) "what the hell is all of this water doing on the floor?" After he left I went to the front desk to express my dissatisfaction and that I wanted to cancel my reservation. The clerk said that since it was after 12p (it was 4p) I wouldn't be able to cancel for today. I was upset but I didn't want any problems so he agreed to place us in another room. That Was fine for the night. Upon entering the new room (#205), I immediately noticed that the chair was broken and the remote control was split in two. I also noticed that the room was a little chilly. Towards the end of the day (around 9p) I noticed that the warm air had turned cold. I increased the temperature however the cool air continued to blow. I called front desk and the clerk said that maintenance was not on duty not was the manager and there were no other rooms available. He proceeded to volunteer and say that he "couldn't issue any refunds or discounts" (I didn't ask for a refund or any discounts). I felt so insulted like he was implying that it was about the money. My children both have the flu with documents from Children's Hospital of Michigan to prove it and sleeping in a room with no heat in Michigan with 30° weather is extremely unacceptable.

Days Inn days inn savannah room

116$ no phone, no hair dryer, no coffee maker, disgusting room ( see photos) loud domestic disturbances all night, shots fired, bathroom filthy, vents, air condition, mold on ceiling, by far one of the worse rooms I have ever stayed in in all my travels. I held with card wanted to pay cash, they charged my card. So very disappointed in this company. I would not even let my 5 year old take off socks, sleep under sheets or use the bath tub. I cleaned toilet with baby wipes for some sense of feeling it was clean enough to use. I asked for a blow dryer said they would bring one up, never happened. There was no phone to even call down to the desk and no way I was going back down there with all the commotion going on outside my room. My husband stayed up all night due to the disturbances and our safety.

Days Inn conditions of the room and property

I booked online and was totally disgusted of the room and property. When I got there in Fort Worth, the hotel premises looked like section 8 or druggies lived there. I asked for a refund from the management and they said that no refund ! I didn't even stay there lol. The bed comforter had burn holes in it. The bathroom had drywall damage(cave in) and no toilet paper holder. The room lights didn't work and the carpet was nasty, like nobody vacuum in months. I won't have my dog stay there lol. The outside parking lot had down and out people just hanging out. Some of the cars look like been thru figure 8 race.

Days Inn room unsanitary

My kids and their dad stayed at the days inn in nashville tennesse. They arrived to find their room with stained bed sheets, and holes in the walls. The room looked to not have been cleaned in a very long time. My ex husband complained to the manager who refused to refund their money so they could find a sanitary hotel to stay at. They couldn't afford to pay for another room on top of what they had already paid so they stayed. The first night my girls stayed that they felt like bugs were crawling all over them when they slept. The atmosphere outside the hotel had prostitution, and drug deals taking place next door. They began itching over the duration of their stay, and one of my daughters developed what looks like bed bug bites on her body. When the arrived home from their spring break trip to Tennesse they were still itching. I proceeded to check them and found they were both infested with head lice. I have so far done three treatments on their hair in two days and they are still infested. I have found bugs in there luggage that they traveled with. Now I must completely steralize my entire house and try to combat the after effects of deplorable conditions of your hotel. I will be in contact with the Better Business Beruae. I'm also going be filing a complaint on the website that we booked the trip on. There is no reason why anyone should have to have such an experience on vacation.

Days Inn bed bug bites

I stayed at Days Inn Hotel Broadway in NYC with my older kids. My son woke up with lots of bed bug bites on his arms and lower shoulder. There were lots of brown speckles all over his sheets, perhaps fecal matter. We moved the beds and found it was filthy, never vacuumed. The office manager would not believe us. We showed her my son's bites and the pictures of the sheets. She sent someone up and because no live bugs were found, she said she has to send in a professional. I'm still waiting to hear from her. I could not stick around on that day for I had an important meeting to attend. I've sent her emails, and now I'm still trying to contact the residential manager. Still nothing.

Days Inn motel stay

We stayed at this motel for 3 Days. The first night the desk clerk was beating on our door at 1 am asking if we knew who owned a white truck in the parking lot...it was a semi...I was a grandma with 3 kids. The hot tub was dangerously hot. My granddaughter burned her foot checking the temperature. I alerted the desk clerk who told us to leave the pool area. The hot tub remained dangerously hot our entire stay. We were locked out of our room for 45 minutes as the lock didn't work. The toilet didn't flush and overflowed on the floor. The room smelled of cigarette smoke. Our room was not cleaned our entire stay and when we asked for clean towels the manager refused to give us any. We were allowed 3 bath towels for 3 Days and 4 people. We had to go to Walmart and buy bath towels to shower and a plunger before we could use the toilet. These rooms were $118 a night, it was my grandkids Spring Break and our stay was very disappointing. Had some little kid jumped in the hot tub they would have suffered burns and I spent 3 days trying to get the manager to check it...we were not the only ones...no one used it the entire time we were there. The managers response was "some people like it that hot" even though he never checked it. I have never stayed in a motel that cared so little for there guests and were not concerned about safety.

Days Inn my stay at days inn

I checked into a days inn one day last week to share an experience with my new girlfriend being that this was our first time being alone, i chose days inn over red roof which was her choice. immediately upon entering the room it smelled like the room has not been occupied. I go downstairs and get ice and batteries for the remote{ i will not repeat the remark the receptionist made but i dont like jokes that are made at the expense of the customer its unprofessional} no ashtray no problem...now what really pissed me off was that {the bed was on the floor} room 289... my guest left. i slept alone only to be waken up by the smoke detector, the receptionist asked me to shut it off but i couldnt get it open. she came but she could not get it open, but she did get it to stop churpping but i couldnt go back to sleep... I cannot take her back to that hotel so either another hotel or a full refund would be appreciated.

Days Inn bad customer received today from clerk at front desk 3/24

The clerk who attended us treated my husband and I like trash.
He was bothered by us asking him an explanation about charges from our bank account that we did not understand. He said we were stepping on him and he was not going to allow anyone to do that. Also he said "I will explain to you guys, we are not stealing money from you." At the end I told him he should not treat customers the way he was talking to us, he replied "maam to late to be arguing about this. We are staying at the Bonita Springs location. We feel like checking out before our due date. We no longer feel comfortable after experiencing this today.

Days Inn extremely filthy, disgusting

I went for the weekend to watch my son play baseball. I needed the most least expensive room I could find. So I went to Days Inn. There was rat poison behind entertainment center, Dust so thick on furniture I could write my name on it, baseboards were black with dirt, cobwebs hanging from ceiling. Our feet were black from walking on the floor. The furniture was falling apart, TV had limited channels, etc. I was going to leave and go to another motel but everything was booked due to baseball tournaments, and the ones that weren't booked, I could not afford. And they would have charged me a $60 fee for leaving and still charge me for the two nights. I feel I should be remorse's for the entire weekend. I would fire my employees if they cleaned like that. I will be telling everyone I know to never stay there, and will and already have told people in Burl's Tex about my experience.

Days Inn not honoring price on confirmed confirmation

I made a reservation for April 19-23 in Cedar Rapids Iowa at the days inn. I have a confirmation email stating my price is $54.95 plus tax per night. The next day I receive another email with a significant price change. When I contacted the manager of the hotel to inquire about the change, he informed me that I am not able to receive the initial $54.95 quoted rate even though I have a written confirmation. I would like assistance with resolving this issue in a timely manner.
Thank you. Shellie robertson.
