Have a BOA credit card which I pay off each month and pay no interest as the card agreement states: "We will not charge you any interest on Purchases if you pay your entire balance or your Interest Saving Balance by the due date each month. That was all fine until I took advantage of a cash advance offer for no interest until July 2027 if paid in full by July 2027. Much to my surprise, I started getting charged interest on new purchases made with my "no interest" credit card.
Talked to BOA two different times and they state that interest immediately started being applied to purchases as soon as the cash advance was transacted. So, I have a card agreement that says no interest on purchases if they are paid in full by the due date each month AND a cash advance that stated no interest until July 2027 yet they are charging me interest.
They say that when the a cash advance is taken, it is considered an addition to the balance due on the credit card (even though it is not due until July 2027) and that all merchant purchases are incurring interest.
This is extremely deceptive in my opinion.
Recommendation: Be careful, they changed the rules mid-stream!
