Regarding my Costco Citi credit card account XXXX 0001. From November 2023 on, I have always paid this card on time via automatic bank payments. But on June 2, 2025, City blocked my card due to suspected unauthorized activity. Since that date:
- My bank disabled automatic payments at my request.
- I have been unable to access electronic statements due to the Citi account block.
- I have tried multiple times to contact Citi by phone but only succeeded with the help of Costco customer service on two occasions. However, Citi’s record of my “secret answers” then had nothing to do with those I provided when I filed for this card in November 2023 and the calls led nowhere.
- After I alerted the CFPB, Citibank finally condescended to send me ONE paper statement on July 8 with a balance of $1,493.58 which I immediately paid in full by Check #102 cashed by City on July 11.
- In a certified letter of 8/18/2025, I clearly stated that since this credit card had been destroyed in June (and sent back to city cut in little pieces), any charge after June 2 must be fraudulent and that I will refuse to pay them along with any late fees and other charges.
- I received on August 15 a statement from Citi for $2,061.53 with no details of charges which prevented me from identifying and contesting the fraudulent charges.
I have sent prior letters documenting this situation (on 5/4, 6/28, 7/7, 8/2, 8/15) requesting mailed statements so I can fulfill my payment obligations. Citibank’s continued refusal to provide my usual detailed statements by mail unless asked by the CFPB may constitute a violation of the Fair Credit Billing Act and Regulation Z under the Truth in Lending Act.
Claimed loss: About $2,100
Desired outcome: Send my last monthly paper statements (August 2025) detailing all charges to my mailing address on record.
