Enterprise Rent-A-Car unauthorized billing

The rental fees charged by the airport center are extreme. After the initial rental fee from the rental car company, there is:

1) "consolidated facility charge" — ok, every company's rent passed on the the consumer;
2) "transportation facility charge" — ok, the bus that gets you there;
3) "arena fee" — what is this?
4) "vehicle license fee recovery" — what is this? I didn't lose my license;
5) "concession fee recovery" — what concession?
6) "sales tax" — just more of the above but described with a little more honesty?

I recently rented a car in kc and these taxes added over $100 to the final bill.

FYI, license recovery fee is for the plates on the vehicle and usually is a flat per-rental fee of around $2.00. Most of the remainder of what you list is airport fees. If you don't like them - if they're too expensive - take a cab off-site and rent from a neighborhood location... Cab fare both ways should be less than $100 in most cases.

Are you completely naive or do you really think that you can purchase a service without paying sales taxes! Arena fees, concession fees, and sales tax are all local or state taxes. Why don't you do some research next time so you do not sound uneducated to the masses!

Enterprise Rent-A-Car discrimination

Before arriving at the Enterprise Car Rental desk I called from home to ask what I needed to rent a car and I was told a credit card. I was asked if my credit card was linked to my checking account and I said yes. I was told to bring two bills (utility bills) from home. I brought four or five to be on the safe side. Once I arrived at the disk I presented all of the information that was required of me. The agent went over to a another gentleman in the office and they began to whisper, the agent came back and asked if I had any proof that my bills are not past due. The bills that he had were current and had no past due amounts listed on them, that would have proved that they were not past due and were paid. I was the only African American customer in the office at the time, I was told that I had to pull up my bank account on line at one of their desk in order for them to see if I paid my bills. They placed me at a desk to do so. I was extremely insulted by this treatment. I am a Federal Officer (Law Enforcement) and I was treated like a criminal.

Instead of charging the $1.95 extra a day. I was hit for $800. Instead of helping when the need arose. They grabbed my Honda personal car unexpectedly. AAA tow guy tried and no arrangements were kept.

I'm out both my cars, mobility equipment starting out with my wheelchair. I'm trapped here since my don't work.

I think depriving a disabled senior citizen his mobility equipment, wheelchair cane and walker is beyond despicable!

There have been some major scams going on within this company. They have hired a team of investigators that are applying many stringent rental rules they never asked for or needed in the past. I think the changes they are implementing are very harsh and not very accommodating. The agents that are working there are not concerned about getting fired for being rude because they are not there to in reality to rent out cars. If you have to go to that branch again I would bring the cards they want now and your past rental receipts. If you have the option to go elsewhere I most certainly would.

I was discriminated against by the branch manager in Casa Grande AZ “Benjamin Paige” when I complained about another employee who refused to take my Citibank Visa. The employee tried to tell me that it wasn’t connected to a bank account and when I tried to complain to the branch manager I was told that he wasn’t going to rent a car to “someone” like me. Racism in the present day and age doesn’t always wear a white hood.

never again will I use enterprise! Ever! I made a reservation to pick up a car that I needed for a trip to my daughters college graduation. As I have done several times in the past I did the process on line and received an email confirmation. I went to the Exeter location on Portsmouth Ave to pick up the vehicle and gave the girl at the counter my valid drivers license and my debit card. She asked me for a utiliity bill of some sort or a paycheck with my current address as well. When I told her I didn't have that she explained it was needed because I was using a debit card. So I went home and got my electric bill and my paycheck from that week. When I showed her the electric bill, she wouldn't accept it because it didn't have a "zero" balance on it. I tried to show her on the bill that the past due balance was zero and the balance due (in 5 days) was $91.38. She said, "I was told the balance has to be zero" CLEARLY the policy on their own website says PAST DUE! also CLEARLY the policy on their own website says "ONE OF THE FOLLOWING" of which I had 2, but this women would not accept either of them. Then I asked to speak to the person to whom she kept referring to when she said, "I was told this and I was told that" and her reply was, he's on vacation. I have rented cars on dozens of occasions and have always walked in, handed them my drivers license and debit card, signed some papers and walked out with keys in hand. Never have I been denied or questioned or hassled in any way and don't understand how enterprise allows each location to determine what the requirments will be when their website is very CLEAR. Attached below is the policy for debit card renters that I have copied and pasted NON CREDIT CARD DEPOSITS -

Debit cards are accepted at the time of rental with a current copy of any one of the following (dated within the last 30 days and with no past due balances): proof of employment, proof of income, proof of insurance, telephone bill, electric bill, gas bill, sewer bill, or water bill in the renter's name, with his or her current address. The renter's name and address must match their driver's license, and their driver's license must have been issued from the local area of the renting branch.

Today I was discriminated against at an Enterprise Rental car location at the Peoria International Airport in Peoria Il. I had previously rented from this location several times, However upon approaching the counter and stating that I had a reservation for a vehicle I was immediately questioned as to wether my card was debit or credit I explained that it was a business card account connected to my American Express account.. he declined my card and denied to rent me the vehicle.. then he swiped my card for $234 and then pretended to search for a full size vehicle which was specified in my reservation.. He walked down to another car rental counter National another affiliate to speak with a blond caucasian women... and as he was returning she called to him as he turned to face her I also turned to see what was being said and I heard her say that there was a deposit on my card from the IRS... After he initially declined service he should have never taken payment from my card and that is theft... I was charged for a service that I was not provided I will be seeking legal representation in this matter..

I watched customers before me renting with no issues and getting paper contracts. The young lady who helped me said she was new while balancing an electronic device and operating the computer. The contract provided was on the device and I was told the contract would be emailed. There was something wrong with the car and was offered another but was told I had to go back to the office to redo the paper work. This time I was given a paper contract. Reading over the initial electronic contract, it indicates that returning a vehicle besides the rental location is prohibited and that they are able to give my personal cc info and demographics to third party agents. The terms and conditions were not visible on the device. I am returning on a day they are not open so apparently I'm being held accountable until for the vehicle until it is checked in. Which may be standard but I don't remember ever having a contract so strict. It also stated that the car would not leave the state rented. Usually covers all of New England. No one I saw received this electronic agreement. I feel I was singled out. Again, not my first time renting but feeling discriminated against.

I have read all these incidents about Enterprise rental car company. They don't only discriminate against blacks, they profile you once you walk into their store. I had an accident and reported it to my insurance company USAA and got approval for a rental car. Since USAA has a contract with enterprise I received my confirmation code and approval to rent a car. The time of the accident was close to there closing time of 6:00 on 9/12/2016. So my wife and I went to the West Saginaw Office in Lansing, Mi. I approached the counter and and gave the representative my licenses and confirmation number. Since USAA does direct pay to enterprise and I have dealt with them on multiple times at another location and had outstanding service each time before. After giving the representive my information he stated that I would need a credit card to rent the car and have $50.00 secured on it to rent the car. I asked why and then the assistant manager spoke up and said it was to cover the gas and any damage. I stated to him that I have had multiple rentals through enterprise under my insurance policy through USAA and have never had to supply a credit card to secure the rental for gas and any damages since USAA has a direct contract with enterprise. The manger then proceeded to tell me that this has been their policy for years and that I did not know what I was talking about. This manager was very rude and talked done to me. I stated to him to show me in writing were it says that and for him to give me the specific year that they incorporated this. He refused to do so and continued with his arrogant behavior. I explained that we just got into the accident and my wife and I were still shaken from the accident and at this time we did not have a credit card on us. I also stated that our vehicle was not safe to drive on the busy road that there location was on. Again he stated we need a credit card to secure the rental, and I told I did not have one, then he said how much cash do you have. I said what. You first told me that I need a credit card, now you say if I got $50 cash you will do it, I told him that I did not have $50.00 on me then he said what do you have. I said are you serious! And then said I was right about this and you just lied to me. He said he did not like my tone of voice and I told him I don't appreciate him lying to me. He said he did not, then I stated to him I am the customer and you are lying to me ask me for cash for this rental and calling me a Lyer. I told him I don't know what type of customer service course you were trained at but you just disrespected a long term customer. At that time the first associate I was dealing with stated that they could wave the 50.00 fee. I said what the heck kind of operation are you people running around hear. You just gave me a run around about this 50 dollar deposit and you can wave it. At that time the manger told the associate that they were not doing it and they were not going to rent me a car because the store is officially closed and I had to leave the store. I was pissed. My wife and I left the store and she could not believe what just happened. So, we left in my damaged hummer and went home. On 9/142016 we went to a different location on East Michigan Ave in Lansing, Mi where I usually get my rental cars from. After giving the assistant Manager me information I could tell that there was something wrong immediately. This individual was very disrespectful to me and my asking us if we called ahead for a reservation. I stated to him we were at the the West Saginaw store and did not have a credit or Debit card so we could not get a car. He I see that you were there two days and that I gave the manager a hard time. I told him I have never had to supply a credit card or debit card when USAA supply's the authorization to rent a car. So, he ignored us for awhile taking phone calls and dealing with them while he started our proses before the calls even came in. Once he did start to assist me he was very disrespectful and short with his conversation and defiantly had an attitude. It was obvious enough that the manager from the first store must of put some kind of a message act reached to my confirmation number. Once we got through most of the rental information he asked for our credit cars. We provide our government direct express card. The assistant manager said we don't take pre loaded cards and I stated to him it was not a pre loaded card. He then said that it was not a bank backed card. At this time he had an attitude and so did I. I stated that you obviously can read since this card is issued through the US Government and also Comerica Bank. Again with a condisending attitude he stated we don't except pre loaded cards and I told him it was not. Then he said we don't except direct express cards. He said he would call his manager, so instead of being professional he left the lobby and went into the office to talk to his regional manager. When he came out he stated his manager said they don't except this cards. I told him to show in there policy were it says they don't. He told me he did not have to. I then asked to speak to his manager. He told she was at lunch and did not want to be bothered but he would take my name and number and she would call me. I told him it was unacceptable and that I wanted them to show me where it states that that card is not usable. He said because it is a none account card. I then asked do you accept active military travel credit cards and he said yes. I told him that they are none account cards also so why do you except those cards. He said that the direct express cards are a non bank account card and because there are two many people with SSI trying to rent our cars and they don't have the funds to pay for them. I said are youn insinuating that I am on SSI. And the another associate stated that those cards are for people who can't get a back account. I told him that we would go to our bank and get our MSU Federal Credit Card. At that time he stared that I could not rent a car from his location because of my attitude. I told him so you are going to refuse renting me a car because I questioned you and asked you to show me in writing where it states that. He just said I am not renting you a car. I told him you don't even know what you just did. I said I am a Medical Retired US Army Major who was injured while serving my country I am a 100% total and perminate disabled veteran through the VA, I collect Social Security Disability SSDI because I am unable to work because I sustained traumatic Brain Injury, broken neck and back and sever concussion, and because I have a direct express card you are labeling me as a loser. And because I questioned your authority you are denying me because of my attitude. Well my attitude is a result of my disability from my TBI and chronic migraine head aches. I got there customer service number and called there disability department and told them what happened at that time another associate said out load I am sick of hearing about you being disabled you said that three times already and if you were a disabled vet/Major your retirement would not be on a direct express card. He then stated that I better watch out my statements because he would report me under the stollen valor law. He then said he was in the infantry and DFAS does not issue retirement pay on direct express I told him and the manager that they could shove there enterprise rental cars up there ###. I then took out my US Army Active Duty retired card my VA sercice connected card on on my licenses where the state of Michigan now Identifys veterans. My wife was so pissed that the lady from enterprise we were talking with was giving her a run around about these three individuals enterprise employees and how they have preconsived opinions of people who receive SSI as being losers and totally discriminate and violate the civil rights of disabled people. At this time we are waiting for Enterprise rental car disability division to email us the forms to do the formal complaint against these three individuals and there supervisor. I have contacted Fox News, CNN, NBC, CBS, ABC news about this issue and as I see this is a systemic issue with Enterprise and its employees on treatment of individuals with disabilities and also how they profile individuals. I don't like to use the race card but as I can see there are a lot of complaints on this site about the treatment of individuals who are black or non white. Well, I am of Native American, African American, and Westeren European. I don't Identify my self as any of these, I AM AN AMERICAN who Served over 18 years in the US Army and was severely injured and was totally discriminated by the employees at enterprise because I was profiled by my disability because I had a direct express card and as one of there associates said only losers have those cards people who can't get a bank account. And then maybe because my facial features are of African American and I have darker skin than a Caucasian. I have also contacted USAA about how Enterprise treats disabled veterans and for them to cancel the contract wit Enterprise. And since I started to write this blog I emailed the Oprah Winfrey show about this situation and they just emailed me with a contact number to get more information. This type of discrimantion towards disabled and racial people needs to stop business that employee these individuals need to eliminate these cancerest individuals from there payroll. Thank you for providing me with this venue to express my situation.

Sincerely,

Craig Lee Hummel

Enterprise Rent-A-Car empty gas tank full marijuana smell

My son and wife (who has with Multiple Sclerosis) were given a rental car last week which was completely empty on gas. They were told to hurry to the nearest service station to get their own fuel. The car did however come with a strong marijuana smell. They knew the smell was odd but not exactly what caused it.

I accompanied my son in returning the vehicle today. After confronting the assistant manager about why he let my wife leave with an empty tank and whether we would be reimbursed for the fuel, I got a ridiculous story about "company policy". My response to this was a simple and straightforward "#". The assistant manager then wanted to correct me and tell me how my language was inappropriate. I assured him that my language was absolutely appropriate and that his company policy was the inappropriate part.

I also discussed the consequences of what could have happened if my wife had run out of fuel upon exiting the Enterprise location and been hit by another vehicle, or if she had run out of gas and forced to leave the vehicle in 100 degree Fahrenheit temperatures with Multiple sclerosis.

Empty fuel tank + marijuana + company policy = #! = Enterprise.

Somehow I think you are greatly over exaggerating everything. You're telling me you called them and let the phone ring for 45 minutes? I've never heard of someone waiting past 10 rings... the phone rings on average about 15 times per minute, so you let it ring 675 times?

HA. Get out of here.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car worst experience ever

Micheal Goldstein threw us out of the branch and here is my angry letter to Darren Moon.

Dear Darren Moon:

I am Jean Henriquez and I have been am Enterprise customer for quite some time. I was very discouraged and disappointed by my last experience with Enterprise involving one of your employees by the name of Michael Goldstein.

I had made a reservation online for April 27th 2008 until May 1st 2008 to rent a standard car while I was in NYC for work for 5 days. With me was my general manager, Esther Garcia, whom I made the reservations under because I had misplaced my debit card. I had called the La Guardia branch two days before to make sure that I was going to be allowed to be added as a second driver to the rental. I was told that as long as I had proof that I flew in from another city that I would be allowed to be the second driver without any additional information but my driver’s license.

When we arrived, tired and with five bags of luggage, Michael Goldstein was the agent that was available to help us. Michael started asking us for all types of information, such as where we were going, contact information in New York, the phone number to the hotel we were going to stay in, my mother’s address, her phone number and the address to the hotel in Providence, RI where we were having our other conference.

I am lamented to say that I regret renting cars from Enterprise before this experience.in fact, two weeks before I had rented from Enterprise in Detroit, I did not have to give them any of that information Mr. Goldstein asked us for. Michael Goldstein was rude and upset me to an extreme. He had us there for 45 minutes trying to rent us a car. I had asked him to add me as an additional driver and he wanted my information in which I gave him my driver’s license, cell phone number, and home address. He wanted a credit card and I told him that I did not have it with me because I had misplaced it along with my debit card. He proceeded to tell me that he could not add me as an additional driver.

Michael continued harassing us for information. After a while, he claimed that his computer locked up and passed us over to another agent to help us. The agent, Alex, was again taking our information and moving along with the rental when Michael came out of nowhere and told Alex to cancel the reservation. I asked him what he meant and he said that he wasn’t going to rent us a car. At this point I asked to speak to the general manager. He came around the counter, got on his cell phone and circled the building outside and came in to tell us to go outside to talk. I refused to go outside because we didn’t do anything worth having to go outside of the store to have any kind of conversation. Mr. Goldstein threatened to call the police and continued taunting me with that threat. As you can imagine, I was very angry and felt utterly baffled with how extreme he was taking the situation that should never have reached this level of discourse. That was when another manager stepped in to try to diffuse the situation. Michael threw us out of the property and we had to pay for a cab in order to rent a car from another rental car company.

I called a few times to speak with you and you were never available. No one tried to help us. Mr. Moon, I hope that you will take the proper course of action in disciplining and hopefully terminating your employee Michael Goldstein. I will be posting this letter and sending it to everybody I know, letting them know of my experience with Enterprise and how they did not care. Tripadvisor.com, myspace.com, craigslist.com, and angryconsumer.com are only a few examples of the places I plan to present this information to the public.

I hope that this experience and my willingness to make it a public matter will motivate you to do the right thing. Know that you lost a valuable customer and will lose many more due to my efforts. I will not be taken lightly. I’m sure you will review your customer service policies with the rest of your staff.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car Unauthorized charges!

I was a victim of auto theft. I went to enterprise to pick up a car. Even though insurance paid up to 500.00 I was still charged a deposit and had to pay of the rental. After the 500.00 coverage was over I was being charged 25.00 a day. Only after they charged my debit card weekly they called and told me they charged my account. They left me in the negative weekly. With in a months time I spent over 500.00 out of my pocket, plus they got 500.00 from the insurance company. I told them if they could wait for an insurance settlement I could pay the balance in full when I got the settlement and a new car for myself. They refused to do that. The 1st dealer I went to only had one employee there and could not give me a ride, I told him I would walk (4.5 miles) he said ok if you don't mind because i'm the only one here and I cant leave. As I started to walk out he said that I could drop it off at another dealer and someone there could give me a ride. So now I am without a car and I have children that need to get to school.

I recently rented a vehicle from Enterprise in Las Cruces, NM, on May 18, 2012. I was heading to Phoenix, Arizona for my daughter's graduation.

I was given a VW Tiguon to drive, a little less than 200 miles down the road the vehicle broke down, I limped off of the highway because I thought it was too dangerous to stay on the shoulder, because of the construction happening in that area. It was about 100 degrees and I had no power whatsoever, so I could not run the air conditioner in order to keep cool. With me were my young daughter and an adult friend. The tow truck took about an hour or so, but in the meantime I had to call my daughter (the one who was graduating) to come pick us up. She had plenty to do (as did I) prior to her party that Friday night (May 18, 2012). Without hesitation she came for us making it a round trip for her about 75 miles.

In our haste to get our personal items out of the car (because by this time the tow truck driver had arrived) we left behind our phone car charger, and also left the vehicle 3/4's full. My daughter took us to the Enterprise rental facility in Sierra Vista, AZ and we were given a Hyundai Santa
Fe. I expressed to the service representative I did not trust these cars; he insisted this was the only available car in our class.

We made it to Phoenix however on Sunday when we got into the car for my daughter's graduation the check engine light came on. I had my companion read the information from the book and the descriptors on this and it said the vehicle should not be driven or it would ruin the engine (I am paraphrasing). Not wanting to be responsible for ruining the vehicle’s engine I called the 1-800 roadside assistance number and they told me they would get a replacement vehicle from Sky Harbor Airport. I thought this would work out perfectly since we were only about 10 minutes from the airport. I was told it would be at the hotel in 90 minutes. After 90 minutes I received an automated phone call asking if service had been completed, I pressed the appropriate option to indicate it had not been completed. I spoke with a representative who called the tow company (Allstate) who in turn I assume told her they were ten minutes from delivering the replacement vehicle to me. After the ten minutes passed I received another automated call, again I went through with selecting the appropriate option. I received no less than four of these phone calls over the next four hours. I finally asked to speak with a manager. Prior to speaking with the supervisor one employee hung up on me, this precipitated my decision to elevate this matter. I spoke with Leslie who told me the reason it was taking so long was because when they were originally towing the vehicle it got a flat and they had to return back to the airport. I was born at night, but not last night. Taking matters into my own hands, I called Enterprise at Sky Harbor Airport and they told me the tow truck had left more than an hour before my phone call (three hours after my initial call). I asked the representative who answered the phone if the vehicle had gotten a flat and he said, “no”. Again, the Hyundai that was returned was equipped with ¾’s of a tank of gas, having just filled it up in Tucson, AZ.

With all phone calls to the roadside assistance facility I was kept on hold for exorbitant amounts of time, so much so that I drained one battery on a cell phone and was halfway through the battery on a second cell phone.

I missed valuable time in preparation for my daughter’s graduation, I missed the first half of her graduation and in seeing her receive her diploma because of the promises I was receiving from the representative at Enterprise. I ended up having to call a taxi in order to get to the graduation ceremonies. These types of events cannot be replaced, or done over. I was told sorry over and over again over a four to five hour period that after a while they were just empty words to me, because of the lack of inaction and incompetence.

On my return to Las Cruces, NM when I returned the vehicle I asked to speak with the manager of the facility. A gentleman approached me and introduced himself to me, I began to tell him (with passion, since I was still upset) of the problems I encountered and he looked at me and smirked and said, “did I do this to you?” I had to explain to this young man it all originated here when I rented the first car that broke down. I further explained since he works for Enterprise he owns the problem. He abruptly left the room with no explanation, after waiting five minutes I asked another employee where he went, they said he went outside to speak with the manager. I said, “the manager?” I thought I was speaking with the manager? They told me he is the assistant manager. I am not sure how you train people, but when I make myself perfectly clear about wanting to speak with a manager, I don’t expect to get an assistant manager (unless of course the manager is out of the office, which in this case he was not) who was clearly not equipped to make a decision since he had to confer with the manager. Again, this was a big waste of more of my time, since when I finally tracked down the manager myself I had to repeat my story again. After speaking with the manager he told me maybe we should have called their local office to intervene in getting the third replacement vehicle more expeditiously. I had to explain to this “manager”, the second vehicle with mechanical problems occurred on a Sunday (May 20, 2012), their office is closed. I also had to explain to him that nowhere on my rental paperwork does it say to call the local office when/if I experienced mechanical problems, it clearly tells the customer to call the 1-800 roadside assistance number. The onus was being placed on me the customer, I was outraged yet again. It does not seem as though anyone wants to take responsibility for two vehicles breaking down and the total inconvenience on me, the customer.

On Tuesday, May 22, 2012, I received a call from a Leila (Area Manager - [protected]), I apologize I could not understand her last name when she left me a message on my phone. I returned her call and we spoke about these issues. It was decided that she would compensate me with a free rental at whatever point I wished to use it, if at all. Here we are on Thursday, May 24, 2012 and I have received no further communication from her.

Customer service is a dying art; I have lived long enough to witness this. Making promises that one cannot keep is a business destroyer. This would be a clear example of either Enterprise overworking their employees that they cannot complete a task as promised or poor training on the part of your company.

In this economy a company cannot risk destroying a customer's faith in their organization. This is a clear case of poor communication, follow through and taking responsibility for one's actions. I can take my business elsewhere, you and I both know this, I am just perplexed as to why you would want to lose a customer. I have given this issue more time and effort in the follow up and in trying to get this issue resolved, more so than Enterprise. I should not have to work this hard for your company, unless of course you are going to put me on your staff, then I would be more than happy to do your job for you. These problems seem to run rampant across the board, from service representatives, to upper management.

I was issued a rental car because I was hit from behind. They gave me a mini van and said that they would trade out for a smaller car. I called them on Wednesday October 24th and they said sure come on down we have a car for you. After work I traveled 20 miles to pick up the car. When I got there no one was there. We are in the middle of a gas shortage here in the southeast. They told me when I called them that they would not have anything for me until the next day. I was already upset bedcause no one was there and they should have called me. AFTER AL WE ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF A GAS SHORTGAGE HERE. Needless to say I was low on gas at this time! I returned the van that Friday without any gas because there was none to get. Now they have charged my CC $60.00 for gas when they know I could not find any. This is unexpectable and I will never do business with these people again and further more they will never get a CC # from me again. This needs to be taken care of. I do not have the money for them to charge my card. Now all of the checks I have out to pay bills will bounce because they took $60.00 that they never should have taken. I am on a fixed income and this is very upsetting becasue I do not have the money to cover my bills and the bounced checks. THANKS TO ENTERPRISE! They should be reported to othe betterbusiness bureau!

Enterprise Rent-A-Car overcharged

A deer hit my car and I rented a car from Enterprise Rental Car in Oxford, NC from Steve, the manager.

He told me I had to pay $25.00 for the car and I would receive the refund of that amount. When we walked out to the vehicle, he told me about the insurance in the amount of $17. After 2 weeks, I returned the car on Friday, May 9th. I
told him to make sure u send me my refund and he said ok. After checking my account, I had a checkcard transaction pending in the amount of $282.30 for Enterprise. I called Enterprise and talked with Steve and I told him this
amount was taken out of my check without my permission. He told me it was for the purchase of the insurance for the period of 2 weeks. I told him, maybe I misunderstood u. I thought the $17 was one time purchase just for that amount
of the insurance not for 2 weeks. He said he explained that to me. I told him if I didn't have to purchase insurance why didn't u tell me. He said he did, but he didn't. I asked him about $25 and he said that was applied to the insurance. He said this was on the contract, but I didn't read it. The copy was in the car and he got it when I returned the car. He didn't give me a copy of the receipt. I told him I want my $ back, he said he can't do that. I told him I don't have $ to give your company. He was not professional in explaining the
insurance information, didn't tell me this amount will be taken from your account. On the receipt the amount was $25 and this amount was taken out of my account. When I returned the car and checked my account on May 9th, this
transaction was taken from my account. Called him twice today to discuss my complaint and told me he would call me back, but he didn't. They owe me $307.30

I went to Enterprise to rent a car through my insurance company. I was accidentally overcharged by $100.00 from the get go. I caught the mistake and called the gentleman that helped refunded my card the difference which a debit card always takes longer for the credit to be issued. I received 3 overdrafts on my account because of this. I had made numerous phone calls and it took the next day to receive a call back. They went in and canceled all charges and credits. I thought that was fair enough but wanted them to okay the overdrafts as well. I went up to the local office where I rented and spoke with a different gentleman that told me that they have done all they were going to do. I called my bank and thankfully they adjusted my account and ate the NSF fees. I got home from work today which was 4 days later with a call from Enterprise wanting to charge me again for the rental. I can not believe after all that they put me through and it took me straightening out the NSF that they would have the nerve to call and ask for any type of payment. Will I ever use them again? ABSOLUTELY NOT come HELL or high water!

Entrprise did the same thing to me. Gabe from the San Antonio location, Tx location, located on Fredericksburg road and Huebner withdrew $122.15 from my checking account without my authorization. I was in an auto accident and my insurance was paying for the rental of thevehicle. as it was they were expecting me to pay $200.00 and did not want to accept my debit card for a deposit of $50.00 in which I was told that it would be returned to me. To top it off, i was still in alot of pain from the accident, and to walk to the van because they did not come to my door of the apartments. It was all a bad nightmare with that company from the beginning.

We also had a very bad experience with Enterprise car rental here in WI. I am warning you do not use a debt card from your bank to pay them. They make you sign your initials on a piece of paper, but don't tell you what it means. I told them we didn't have any money in our checking account because we were both injured in an accident and not working, they said they totally understood... then they started taking 100's $ out of our checking account and now it is at a -2k!
They would call and ask how everything was going and turn around the same day and try to take money out of the account. I told the bank many times not to honor the requests they made because I was going to have the lawyer/insurance make the payment to them...but they don't really care!
Now because of everything that happened we can not use our checking acct/debt cards...they would probably do the same to a charge card...but I can only speak for what happened to us. I really feel like they are a scam. We will NEVER use that company again!

Enterprise Rent-A-Car attaching my name to another's reservation and submitting the unpaid charges to a collection agency

I had been a long time customer of Enterprise Rent A Car in Franklin, TN. One day I started receiving calls from this local rental office as well as the corporate office of Enterprise Rent A Car. The reason being that somehow my name had been attached to another person's car rental agreement and now they were coming after me for $520.74.

I kept calling the local office and have made several trips to the 1207 Lakeview Drive, Franklin, TN office and was told that they had in fact made this error and was going to correct it. I believed them and went on my way. However, I still kept receiving phone calls from this local office as well as the corporate office in regards to this mix-up. Again, I went down to this Franklin, TN rental office and was told again that they had corrected this problem. I was also promised that I would receive an actual letter from Enterprise Rent A Car that this problem had been resolved. I never received such a letter and these calls have continued on for almost a year now.

This past March 2007 I received a collection notice from a Collection Agency out of Illinois and guess who is showing up as the Creditor? You guessed it. Enterprise Rent A car! Once again this issue is not resolved and my name is still showing under that person's rental agreement and now they are coming after me for the $520.74 that someone else owes. Plus, this is showing on my credit report as well. I have gone back to this local office in Franklin, TN and talked with the manager, Mary Ann, who is an absolute idiot along with Andy, Ben, Lisa, and everyone else who has promised me over the last year that they made this mistake and STILL HAVE NOT corrected it! Unbelievable!

This issue is absolutely ridiculous and showing a negative on my credit report when I AM NOT the person who signed this rental agreement and they have me mixed up with someone else. Thus, NO ONE from Enterprise Rent A car will do anything to help me regarding this situation. Also, the Collection Agency will not help me either... I am now hiring an Attorney and hoping to get a local television station to complete an investigation of Enterprise Rent A Car! I have never in my life seen a company that made a mistake as this and then goes "Oh well, sorry for the mistake but you're going to have to fix it yourself."

I will never do business with Enterprise Rent A Car again! I was a great and loyal customer with them for over 6 years and for them to treat me this way is CRAZY and absurd!

I understand this response may be pretty late since the article was posted in 2008. However, have you placed a complaint with the BBB. I don't understyand how enterprise has received the J.D Power and Associate Award, yet their customer service is horrible.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car - rental insurance!

I rented a car from enterprise on 04-01 in which the representative misrepresented the insurance when I requested specific information. When Asked if the insurance was the $11.99 package the representative replied yes, however, she failed to tell me not only was it for the $11.99 but it was also for $14.99 and $6.99. When I called in to speak to the Manager...

Enterprise Rent-A-Car scam and fraud!

About two years ago in May or June of '06 my automobile was stolen. My insurance company provided me with a rental car (Chevy Aveo) from Enterprise Rent-A-Car for about 30 days. Fortunately my automobile was recovered and my insurance company took care of the repairs. After my automobile had been repaired I took the rental car back to Enterprise Rent-A-Car. Upon returning the rental car we did a walk around of the rental car to make sure there were no damages. There was two Enterprise associates, my father, and I doing the walk around. One of the Enterprise associates noticed that the headlight on the driver side of the rental car was askew. The Enterprise associate then proceeded to get down on all fours and look underneath the car and behind the front bumper. The Enterprise associate then reached up in to the area and proceeded to pull out a towel that had been lodged behind the lamp apparently in an attempt to keep the lamp in place! I was completely surprised that someone had lodged a towel in there in an attempt to keep the lamp in place. The Enterprise associate then started questioning me if I had put it there or if I knew how it got there. I told him I had no idea how it got there and that I did not lodge a towel in there in an attempt to hold up the lamp or for whatever reason it was in there for. I did find it odd that the Enterprise associate seemed to find the problem rather quickly. Almost as if he knew, but I doubt it.

I denied any claim to the damages and told them I was totally unaware of any of it. They didn't care! Enterprise Rent-A-Car had the rental car repaired and when I was told that I owed 750.00 my father and I were outraged! We received an itemized report of all the repair work performed and were blown away that the whole entire bumper had to be replaced, the grill had to be replaced, the lamp had to be replaced, and even something about a new gloss finish! They want 750.00 for something I did not do! I did not, however, sign up for the insurance package and they told me that if I had signed up for that, that I wouldn't be liable for any of this. I understand this but 750.00? That's outrageous! I think they tacked on some extra repairs and thought that I'd pay for them!

So it is now almost two years later and it is now in collections. Today I received a phone call from Wakefield & Associates claiming that I have 24 hours to pay or this matter will be in the hands of the courts. They said it is my word against theirs. But I do not understand how an askew headlight amounts to 750.00 in repairs and keep in mind I didn't even do any of the damages. Why not go after the previous renter of the rental car or the one before that or every single person that rented that vehicle. There is no proof that I caused the damages to that vehicle and you know why there is no proof? Because I didn't do it!

I was almost going to pay them and get this over with but after doing some research on the internet about how horrible Enterprise Rent-A-Car is and listening to my father I believe this is a matter for the courts.

Enterprise recently did the same thing with me. They gave me a upgrade when I was renting so I was happy that I got a good deal but two days into the trip, the A/C stopped working so I called them trying to exchange the car from a nearby enterprise but it was Sunday and they said that everything was closed. So we cut our trip short and started driving to an enterprise location some 150 miles away from the place we were and 20 miles later the car's engine started heating up. When I called them again, they said that I could not drive that car anymore and it needed to be towed and suddenly they were able to find an enterprise location nearby which was open on Sunday (cheats!). In any case, 2 month later, I get a mail from damage recovery unit that I needed to pay up for the damage which I had done to the car (?). They explained to me that car heating and A/C problem cannot be related (I am not an expert on cars but anyways ...) so I must have done something to damage the car. They said that there is a dent in the grille, which was already there when I had rented the car (its in the rental agreement). Its a 2200 $ bill and when I read the bill closely, I see that they have charged me for A/C repair as well. I have asked my insurance company to deal with them but it seems I will end up paying atleast a part of it even though I did not do anything. ENTERPRISE is a big rental company but I did not know that they are even bigger fraud. There are so many similar incidents on the web. I just wish that I had read these before renting it from them.

Could you please post how the court battle went so that i could use wisdom to fight these guys.

Yes Enterprise did something similar to me as well although it was a small knick in the windshield. While doing the walk around I pointed out a few "small scratches" and the Enterprise employee was like "oh no we're only looking for MAJOR damages" so I was like 'ok... no MAJOR damages on this car, and signed the rental agreement w/o their rip off insurance. When I returned the car, they charged me $50 for the chip in the windshield! And then the next week I get a letter in the mail from Enterprise Damage Recovery Unit asking for my insurance information so they can file a claim, but I already paid the local store $50 for it! Those ###s. I mean ok $50 I don't really care, I am so sorry to hear about your $750 charge. Please let us know how the court battle goes so I can reference it in future conversations with people about how they should never rent from Enterprise again.

The EXACT same thing happened when I used enterprise while my car was being repaired.
When I rented the car the agent said I would have to wait for an Oil change/ the car was glossy/wet.
When i returned the car it had a smooth layer of dust on the right passenger side door. The agent came rapidly out of the office (I thought was strange) did NOT TAKE A WALK AROUND WITH ME, and went straight for the Right passenger side of the doorl; took the tip of his finger, made a small smudge and said the car was scratched...like he KNEW EXACTLY that it was there, WITHOUT LOOKING AROUND THE CAR FOR OTHER SCRATCHES.
when he washed the car (only in that area) I could see a whitish area, he stated it was a new scratch > When I told him I didn't do it, it was there he laughed and said there was no "record" of this new scratch. I said "if it was a NEW scratch how come it was as smooth as the rest of the car, that there was no indentation; roughness, irregularities noted ?
He rubbed and area and a piece of a compounding material came off, he didn't say a word? Not only that the scratch color was a grey mix, (the car was black) . He still said he had to file an accident report..I refused to use MY insurance for this.
HE IMPLIED SINCE I DIDN'T USE THEIR INSURANCE I WOULD HAVE TO USE MINE. NO!
HOW MANY OTHER PEOPLE'S INSURANCE WERE CHARGED FOR THIS SAME .. SO CALLED SCRATCH.

I also had a problem with Enterprise Rent-a-car. In July 2008 my family and I were coming back from a vacation and had a wreck. We needed to rent a car and got a Chevy Impala with about 28000 miles. The car was very nice and glossy looking when we rented it. We drove through a rain storm all day on our way back home. The rest of the trip was uneventful and no problems. When I returned the car to a local rent-a-car the next day it was nice and sunny. Well, I noticed that the gloss was gone and when I did the walk-around right there were 2 scrapes on the right bumper near the lights. I didn't see it on the walk-around when we rented but here it was in plain day. I know we did not scrape the vehicle but it appears that we will have to pay for it since I didn't get the coverage. I know it was a chance to take but it shouldn't have been a problem since I did not scrape that car.

My advice to anyone is not to use Enterprise Rent-a-car and if you must then make sure you are covered as they(or someone) seems to be very good at hiding scrapes on these cars. By the way, the Enterprise Rent-a-car was in Mobile, Alabama. I don't know if they were responsible for hiding the scrape but you never know.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car assessing charges without authority!

On Jan 7, 2008, at the suggestion of my insurance company (Geico) I rented a car from Enterprise car rental. I was told I could leave the car at the new car dealership when I took possession of my new car.

On Jan 15, 2008 the dealership (Scion-Marin) notified Enterprise that the car was available for pickup. The car was not picked up until the afternoon of the 17th. On the 18th of January, Enterprise removed $300.00 from my checking account without my OK or any notification, either phone, snail mail or email. I was not aware of this until Jan. 19th. Enterprise is Closed on Saturday and Sunday. There fore I was unable to contact them until Jan 21st. The Manager, Chris, informed me this was normal practice as they were unable to contact me or Geico. Further he indicated when he was notified by Geico that they would cover any additional charges, he would reverse the charges of Jan 18 and the original $100.00 deposit made on the 7th of Jan. This step was taken on January 21st. Because of the Martin Luther King Holiday, Jan 21, my bank has not received the reversal as of Jan 22nd.

I have been without funds from Jan. 18 through Jan. 22nd, so far. No Company should have the right to deduct funds from checking accounts, savings accounts or Credit cards without prior approval.

To say the least, I am very upset and will never deal with enterprise again or recommend them.

On Jan. 8, 2008 I was authorised to rent a car from Enterprise (350 Carriage Circle Hemet, Ca. 92545 tel# [protected]) branch manager Kevin Vandermeulen, while my car was being repaired from an auto accident I had in oct. 2007. From Jan. 8 thru March 31, 2008 I had the rental car. On that date (march 31 2008) Enterprise took the car from me and told me I could not have the car back. I walked til April 14th when I got my car from the auto shop. On March 17, 2008 I paid $500.00 out of my pocket to Enterprise, I paid with my ATM card. I did that so that Enterprise would not have to wait for the insurance company. By the way the insurance company name is: Sedgwick Claims Management Services, Inc. Phone no. [protected] Ext 13904 For Stephanie Natale Claims Examiner. On March 25th Enterprise could not wait for the insurance to pay so Kevin Vandermeulen decided to take $250.00 out of my account, it made me so mad that someone from a large company could do something like that I called the insurance company and they sent me a check for the amount of $751.00. In fact that was supposed to pay for the extra insurance @ $12.00 per day. Enterprise said they refunded my account with $227.77 they never did.
On June 6, 2008 Kevin Vandermeulen took it on his own with out authorization to deduct $250.00 from my account and then another $250.00 in the same day. So on that day he took out a total of $500.00 plus it cost me $33.00 each time for a total of $66.00 a total of $566.00.

No company should have the right to deduct founds from checking accounts, savings account or credit cards or ATM without prior approval.

On seeing a scratch at the airport, Enterprise told me they would notify me of the cost in a couple of days and charge my card. They predicted it may be as much as $300.

That was on November 29th 2007. On that same day, they charged an additional $800 on top of the $400 damage deposit they already had.

It is now 7th March 2008 and they have still not confirmed any costs, charges or anything other than, 'We'll get back to you'.

I have confirmed the vehicle was in use two days later after coming out of the garage so by 2nd December they would have known the costs.

So I have paid interest on $1,200 while they earn interest on $1,200 of my money without any communication since December 20th.

I have regeistered 2 websites to link all the car rental complaint sites and will lead with links to all the complaints to Enterprise and any companies/media that have given them any service awards in the past. I will also be sending some detailed analysis (I'm a Fraud Investigator) of what the total gains to Enterprise would be if they made this mistake with just 0.01% of their clients. Certainly enough for a class action law suit.

Just think, they have not credited my account not it seems several others long after the contract has closed. This means one of two things, they have NO checks and balances to ensure they balance out charges with clients or they know and do not care. We are talking millions of dollars of income.

On Feb 21 my dealership gave me a rental for warrenty work. They handed me a Enterprise Rental vehcile. I did a once look over and noticed only 1 dent. The sales rep for Enterprise suggested I purchase the x tra warrenty. I stated no, becouse if I had a accident I would use my insurance company. The sales rep then replied it is people like you that wish they purchased the warrenty. I then stated to him whatever and took off. The next day when I dropped the vehicle off at the dealership I was told to leave it and then enterprise will come and pick it up. Enterprise didnt pick it up till the following day. That following day I recieved a phone call from a representative stating that there was a pen tip chip in the windshield and I needed to pay $25.00. I told them that there was no damage and that they needed to call my insurance company. 5 days later I just recieved a phone call stating that they needed to replace the whole windshield. I had it with them and told them to do something with themselves. The claim rep told me from enterprise not to worry about becouse GIECO will take care of it. This is ENTERPRISE taking advantage of myself and GIECO. I will be taking this higher and will be notifiing local newspapers and tv channels that do local investigations. this is not the last that they have heard from me. send me a email if you want to be heard. this is ridiculas and maybe I will be getting my attorney involved.

I had Enterprise charge my credit card three months after returning a car loaned through my dealership for warranty work (Ihave a loaner agreement.)

No phone call, email, or any other notification.

It has been over 30 days and I still cannot get the charge reversed even though I have a signed letter from the dealership.

Way to go Enterprise, thanks for charging my credit card for your mistake (invoice was paid by dealership for rental) and then not being in any hurry to fix the error.

I sent an email last night that i hit the mouse by mistake before i was finished. The statement i was trying to make about being a former launch commander is that the man should come before the mission. They should not try to destroy the relationships with their paying customers, and should make amends for the disrespect a customer is showen. Now how will a big corporation handle this mistake?

Had a terrible experience with Enterprise as well. In fact, I am currently being harrased by their claim's representative. I as well dropped off my rental vehicle with an auto-body and was told that Enterprise would pick it up. Later that evening, I received a phonecall stating that there were two new scratches on the car and the person was asking how I intend to pay for them. They have since turned over the 'claim" to their claims representative and I am currently dealing with some dip-stick from the office harrasing me. He has sent me an estimate for $ 450. I have contacted a lawyer and put a cleim through consumers affairs. Best of luck to us all..I am going all the way with this... court if it has to come to this. Wondering if it would help to contact a local newspaper or a news station.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car scam and fraud!

It was the morning after I had been hit by an uninsured motorist who ran a red light. My car was totaled and I was really shaken up. My insurance company instructed me to get a rental car but definitely NOT get their insurance, because my own insurance was coverage enough. I clearly relayed that information to the rental car agent, which he acknowledged, and I signed for the rental car. After a number of annoyances, including limited hours of operation on weekends and unclear abbreviations and verbiage for particular charges on the rental agreement, on the 10th day I returned the car, and all was good. Except that when I was given the receipt for the total amount charged, it included rental insurance at over $200! Of course, upon closer examination of the rental agreement, I saw that I had initialed every box the agent pointed to — including the small print that states in pale gray font "Accepts DW" and "Accepts PAI." Roughly translated that means "renter pays for unnecessary and expensive insurance." I have learned a valuable lesson: read the agreement thoroughly (but have a magnifying glass handy) and have the clerk explain every single charge before you walk out the door. Looking on the bright side, I guess I should be glad they didn't have a box saying "Accepts RFBMC" — relinquishment of first-born male child.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car stolen items

That weekend I had gone christmas shopping for my nieces and nephews I had the bag in my car since I was leaving my car there I took my bag rented a car from enterprise that sits inside the mercedes dealer and placed my bag in the trunk. I then went to work forgot about the bag took the care back to mercedes because mine was ready and I forgot the bag. As soon as I remembered I called them a couple hours later and now there all just telling me "we did not see anything" in other words im out my gifts about a $200.00 value. If you cant trust them with $200.00 worth of xmas gifts at the mercedes dealers how can we trust them with our cars with thousand of dollars. I am very very mad and also sad at the fact that my family is not going to have xmas gifts. Thanks alot enterprise and mercedes in fresno

This sould be covered under your car insurance - submit a claim against them - or if you have receipts - take them to small claims court.

But man, if you can afford a Mercedes, then $200 is not what you should be spending on Christmas presents for your family...

Enterprise Rent-A-Car terrible experience!

I rented a car from enterprise at 2301 W. Sample Rd. Pompano Bch, Fla.33073. On Sept. 28,2007. I returned the car back on
Oct. 1,2007. The amount for the car were $135.01. Enterprise failed to credit my account with the remaining balance of my $250.00 which they with held for the deposit. I contacted enterprise on Oct.5,2007 to see what the problems were concerning my credit. I spoke to Andy the assistant manager he inform me he were going to take of it it were never done. I spoke to John Savino the branch manager, he inform me he were going to take care of it and give me a call back. Nothing were done. I never received a call from John. Until I reported him to there corporate office. I called and complained to there customer care center [protected] nothing done. I called Jaime Pages at the corporate office to inform her of the problem she also said she were going to need a copy of my bank statement I faxed it over to her On Oct. 29,2007, never received a call back from her. I initiated all the calls concerning my money. Jaime Said she were going to speak to John. Nothing still not taken care of. John left me a message on my home phone on Dec.4, or 5th for me to call him. I called him back he pretended he had no clue as to why he needed to contact me. I began to tell him that Jaime Pages the secretary of the ceo told me that she see that the transaction were done indeed wrong. He stated he were going to contact her at get back to me, no phone call as of today from John. He totally ignored me and my situation. I left numerous messages for him to return my call he never did. I spoke to Stephanie one of the Managers and left my contact number. He never called. I called him On Dec. 5,2007 to see what the status he inform me to contact there accounted and that Jaime had no glue as to what I were speaking about. On Dec. 7, 2007, I contacted the customer care center again for the 4th time, I wanted to speak to someone on a higher level to get this resolved. I spoke to Don one of the customer care mangers he then got enterprise on the phone, we spoke to Stephanie again she informed me she gave John the message, they were going to take care of the problem on that day. Nothing has been resolved as of yet. The account after I left her a message on Friday morning De.7,2007 she called my home and left me a message while I am at work. I left my work number on numerous accounts no one would ever call they would call the home when I'm not there. I would like for someone to take care of this problem I have been battling with them Since Oct. 5,2007. All I've been getting were the run around. No one seems to care or want to conclude this matter. I would like to be credited back to my account from the remaining of my $250.00 dollars. This is why I am sending this complaint against enterprise, because they have handled my situation in a very disrespectful manner and a lack of concern, concerning a customer. I have never gone through this with enterprise before. I have been renting cars from them for a very long time. This is the first time I ever ran into this problem. This enterprise does not have a concern for there customers. I think the company needs to review who they has working for them. These people are giving enterprise a ban name as well as a ban repretation. I will never rent a car from that enterprise again.

We found 2 memory sticks from a digital camera in a car we rented from Enterprise in Anaheim, CA on Jan 3/08. I viewed them and there are photos on them. The employee at enterprise said that there was no way to track down the previous renters of the car. They suggested that we keep the cards delete and use them ourselves. Well, I don't want to delete them or throw them away. If i could find the owner i would gladly return them.

I experienced this same type of situation. I went into Mill Valley CA to renew a contract for the airport. Instead of Mill Valley renewing my contract they Mill Valley office, Wendy Kastner rewrote a new contract so her office could benefit from my rental. She then charged an extra $1, 000 fee to my credit card. To date it has been worse than a circus. They are still holding my $1, 000 and I never agreed to have my contract switched. This office is vile. I never had the experience with the airport. They never thought up bogus charges to apply to my credit card. STAY AWAY FROM THIS ENTERPRISE CAR RENTAL HERE IS THE ADDRESS 35 REED BLVD MILL VALLEY. If you see Wendy Kastner RUN

I recently rented a car from Enterprise in Augusta, Maine. I picked the car up 10/06/2008. I kept the car for a few days and returned it. I was in such a hurry I forgot my tool bag in the back. $200 worth. I called the rental place [protected] the next morning. The tools were not found and the car was in Manchester, N.H. I called Manchester and asked what the procedure was when a car was returned. The man told me that the car was completely gone over with every return - front, back and trunk. So tell me, how did the employees of this very small Augusta location fail to see my tool bag. I am mad at myself for being in such a hurry that I left my tool bag behind, but even more upset that Enterprise would employ such dishonest people. There is no way in hell that those tools were overlooked, especially if someone was doing their job. Maybe they need a better manager at this store! The man who rented me the vehicle was Alec. So beware. If you are renting a car in Augusta, go to Budget. It is conveniently located at the Augusta airport. Prices are the same.

I know for a fact that on 9-11-01, the manager of the Birmingham location DOUBLED and sometimes TRIPLED "one way" rates. There were many planes deverted to Birmingham, because of the events, the airport became packed with paniced travlers just trying to get back home. Budget took advantage of the supply and demand theroy and hit those poor scared people with unbelivably high rates. If you rented from them on this occasion- please be aware that the rate they charged you was much higher than the day before, they are CROOKS.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car unauthorized charges

Enterprise is taking advantage of the consumers. Here's our deal. Our Insurance Agency arranged with Enterprise a rental car within the price amount to be paid by the Insurance, while our vehicle was getting repaired. Enterprise requested a card for file, which I can understand. They immediately withdrew $50 twice and credited us back that same day. Okay now they have $50 from us as a "down pmt" to be returned upon return of the vehicle. The rental was picked up at the Auto Collision place where the Enterprise representative met us and others with pre-prepared paperwork. When we returned the vehicle, the auto body shop indicated we leave the vehicle there. I asked that someone inspect the vehicle. The gentleman there did the inspection. I then immediately called Enterprise and told them we dropped the car off at the body shop where they told us to leave it and the guy there did the inspection and everything looked good. I asked about getting our $50 back; he said he would be on his way to pick up the car and once he got back to their place of business he would credit us back. Well low and behold, instead of crediting us back $50 - they charged an additional $285.97 without notice! When I found this out, I immediately called... took several phone calls, nonetheless they indicated we obtained additional insurance. We never requested addtional insurance! and further more, the Insurance made the arrangements. I am fighting with them now to get our $335.97 back. Plus they didn't even notify us of the additional charge. Do they think because they have a card on file, they can charge whatever the hell they want! I think their outta be a class action lawsuit! (I will check into this, my daughter works for a good lawyer).

BTW: This would be a second bad experience we have had with Enterprise!

When you sign the rental contract, you have to initial that you either ACCEPT or DECLINE the optional coverage. Check your contract. If you initialled that you accepted the coverages, you're on the hook for it.

I agree with everything everyone i saying because i have just been scammed by enterprise today. I am very disappointed in their service. the car they gave me broke down and had to be replaced only after i lost my temper and insisted vehemently that i needed a car to move around.
Now they are trying to charge me for insurance even though this car was rented for me by the insurance company of the insured who is the other party in the accident. the accident was not my fault and i have a police report. they know this and know that the insurance of the other party had accepted liability but still went ahead to accrue insurance payments even though this was an accident case and are now insisting very very rudely that i should pay this.
i agree that there should be some class action suit so we can all be heard.

My husband was forced to stop in at a branch office last night after being told over the phone our contract was null and void because we have had our rental for over 30 days (mind you be have been paying on time for the rental the entire 30 days). We were never told we would have to rewrite the contract at the end of 30 days. Last night Enterprise charged my husband's debit card $711.11 instead of the weekly $200.00, after they TOOK $150.00 without permission on Saturday, November 29, 2008. Our bank has given us a courtesy credit of the $150.00 but where does this extortion end? We need a car until ours is repaired. Something needs to be done about Enterprise. We did contact the district manager.

Ms. Steward, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. One thing that you have to realize when you are renting a vehicle is that you signed a legal document and like any other company Enterprise is in the business to make money not lose money. When you have a claim through your insurance company your policy might allow 25.00 a day what ever vehicle you chose the total charges need to be under the 25.00 anything after that comes directly out of your pocket. Make sure to always ask the agent how much per day will this vehicle cost. Also make sure that you dont exceed the days that your policy allow which is usually 30 days only unless you are the claimant. I am sorry that this happened to you but if you are still having issues please call and speak to someone in the Rental Management Division (Call Back Center).

Enterprise Rent-A-Car assumption of damage by consumer!

On 9/5/07, my insurance company provided me with a rental car due to my car being in an accident the day before. The rental car was given to me with less than 1/4 tank of gas. After work (a 15 mile drive), I got 10.72 gallons ($30.00) worth of gas at a gas station near where I work, so I would make it home. The car died on the way home, now they are saying it had 15 gallons of "contaminated" gas and are suing me for almost $700.00 worth of damage, when I only drove the car a total of maybe 18 miles. My position is that the 4.28 gallons of gas that was in the vehicle when I got it could have been contaminated and no one complained of bad gas at the station that I got the gas from. Enterprise is saying that "the renter is responsible for damage to the rental vehicle regardless of fault of negligence." Absolutely Ludicrous!

Mary... first of all... wow. I know some people like to complain, but I've never seen it taken to such detail...

But I digress...

While I agree that Enterprise's claim was a touch over the top, I mean, come on. It's not like Enterprise associates go into the car before you get in it and start messing things up. Obviously the first thing that Enterprise (or any rental car company, for that matter) is going to think is that you did something to mess it up. After all, you WERE the last person in the car.

Enterprise has a pretty extensive legal department, though. I'd call corporate and talk it out with them. but then, it's already been three years and I hope you've taken care of this by now.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car enterprise made me miss my flight

Enterprise Rent A Car - www.enterprise.com

After waiting with about 10 others for Enterprise to open so that we could check in our cars in order to make it to the airport, the young woman checking in my car thought that it would be nice to tell me about how she was being "punished" by being scheduled to work the early Sunday morning shift. While obviously unprofessional, her chattiness with all of the patrons held up many of us who needed to get to the airport. As a result, I missed my flight.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car charges

I rented a car 09/04/07 and returned the same day. The only outside damage was a mark on the front. I always look in the trunk and around it. When I returned the car ; the rep comes out of his mouth : I got to take your deductible. I said you are crazy. He found a less than 2 inch crack under the town car's bumper. Mind you I had just raised my ded to 500.00 and have used them for ever with no problems. They stole my money within 1 day. I got a bill for the balance of 677.90 and a picture of a bumper that was half eaten off. I have emailed; called cust. service and they pass it on. The corporate cust service [protected]) was to have a vp call me. I got the reg. manager who sucked liked the others. I just want my money back or this gone. I told Bret at [protected] if they would keep the 500.00 and erase the balance I would never bother enterprise anymore and hope they won't bother me. His response I can't do that. My response you know who could and he said yes he does, but he doubts they will negoitate with me. What kind of business is this. I also asked did anyone talk to the rep Nick. He said no. Nick had his own agenda that morn with another (female) coworker and this is in the emails and letters I have sent and no one is? him. But you are trying to get more money from me. I am now trying to get in touch with a lawyer. Why pay for something you didn't do. How did the crack under less than 2 inches becaome an outside foot long? Thanks for being there I just needed to vent again.

I rented a car for two days (April 16-18) from Enterprise and because I'm 19 years old I was charged an underage drivers fee. The total came out to $467.00. We agreed that I would pay the $67.00 in cash, and the rest would be charged to my credit card. Before I was going to take the car out, I decided to pay for the gas in the car already so that I wouldn't have to worry about refueling it later. So, they charged $15 to my debit card. Imagine my surprise, when this morning, April 22, I wake up to find my DEBIT CARD charged for $400!

These guys are scam artists! Now I'm overdrawn and HOPING they will do the right thing and refund my money!

WHILE MY CAR WAS BEING REPAIRED..THE WARRANTY CO. ALLOWED ME 10 DAYS RENTAL AT $30.00 A DAY...I EXPLAINED THAT I DID NOT WANT TO HAVE TO PAY ANY EXTRA...GIVE ME A CAR FOR NO MORE THAN THE $30.00...THEY NEVER TOLD ME I HAD TO PAY $4.OO A DAY FOR TAXES...IF THEY HAD I WOULD HAVE TOLD THEM TO GIVE ME A CHEAPER CAR SO I WOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY ANYTHING. I PICKED UP THE CAR 6/9 AT 3:00 P.M ..I RETURNED THE CAR 10 DAYS LATER ON THE 19th EARLY IN THE DAY SO THERE WOULD BE NO EXTRA DAY CHARGE...NOW I GET A BILL FOR $80.64 ...I CALLED THEM AND THEY SAID I KEPT THE CAR 11 DAYS AND EXPLAINED A CALENDER DAY...WHICH I WAS NOT AWARE OF
THE GIRL SAID IT WAS ON THE CONTRACT WHICH I TOLD HER I DIDN'T READ BECAUSE I TRUSTED WHAT SHE TOLD ME.
ALSO SHE OFFERED ME A INSURANCE BY SAING IT'S ONLY $17.00 SHE NEVER SAID IT WAS PER DAY ...SHE LED ME TO BELIEVE THAT IT WAS A ONE TIME FEE...I LEFT AND THOUGHT ABOUT IT AND DECIDED TO GO BACK TO BE SURE IT WASN'T PER DAY...SHE SAID YES IT WAS PER DAY SO I SAID I DO NOT WANT IT...IT WAS TAKEN OFF THE BILL...I TOLD HER THAT SHE SHOULD MAKE IT CLEAR THAT THE INSURANCE IS PER DAY...SHE SAID SHE DID SAY PER DAY...SHE IS A LIAR..WATCH OUT FOR THEIR TRICKS...THEY TRY TO TRICK PEOPLE WITH THEIR BIG WORDS AND LEAVING OUT IMPORTANT INFORMATION SO THEY CAN COLLECT MORE MONEY.

I rented a car from Enterprise in Sacramento, CA on Arden Way b/c my car is in the shop, getting work done on it. Their driver picked me up from the body shop in a red Chevy HHR. Enterprise gave me a Chevy Cobalt, which doesn't even compare ONE BIT to my personal car. I made it clear to the lady, Rachel, that I was not going to be driving that piece of crap car around. She then turns around, and asks me to take the car for now, and bring it back at the end of the day for a larger and different vehicle. She then stated that she'd give me the red HHR that I had been picked up in, but because the car needs "maintenance" before letting it leave their shop. Less than an hour later, I get a call from Enterprise. They said the red HHR was ready for me to pick up. Thinking to myself "wow, I've worked in the car business industry before, and that was some quck maintenance!" Anyhow, the HHR was better than the Cobalt. I get there to pick up the HHR, it's a totally different rep, he takes me outside, does a quick walk around on this HHR, and I was able to point out all the dings, scuffs, and marks on the BODY of the car. I'm 4'11, therefore, I am unable to see the top of this mini SUV. The guy who does this walk around with me doesn't even bother to mention it to me either. I take this car, the next morning, I get up and go to work, I have a flat tire. I put air in it. The next day, same thing happens, and that continues on for the next 5 days that I have this piece of POOP car. I finally call them and asked them to bring a car to me, as I will be at work during their business hours. Their response "I've had two people call off today, I'm short handed bring the car elsewhere b/c :we dont have any car on our lot." (this was at 7:31 am Tuesday morning; they open at 7:30 am how can they possibly already not have any cars for me?) I let it go obviously, it's not worth my time to disagree with these low lives, who work off of commission at Enterprise Rent A Car. I brought the Red HHR to their branch in Roseville, CA, on Sunrise BLVD. I get in, there are two employees sitting there, the guy comes up to help me, while the dumb gal sits in her $7.00 office chair and talks on the company phone with her friends. The guy and I go outside, do our walk around, he thanks me for replenishing the gasoline, asks for the pink carbon copy, they provided me with a week ago. I handed that to the guy. He looks at it, takes me back inside into their dinky little office, prints up this cheapy car thing (that they use so they can mark up all the dings and track the gasoline) on a standard white 8.5x11 in paper. He walks me out the new vehicle they're about to provide me with. We walk up to a WHITE HHR. Same everything, just different colors! I can care less though, at least, I now know I will NEVER purchase a Chevy. We do the walk around, and he sends me away. As I drive away, I see the idiot gal and the guy that just help me, out on the parking lot, looking at the red HHR that I just dropped off. I stopped to let the two cross the lot to get back into their "office." They both crossed and smiled as I drop off. I go to turn on the AC, one of the vent is broken. "Whatever" is what I said. I also, let that go, although it was 100 degrees out that day. 3 days after dropping that red HHR off, I receive a letter in the mail from Enterprises' Damaage something. They stated that I had put a dent on the roof of the car. "WTF" is what I said. For one, the walk around that was done at the first Enterprise, all we looked at was the body, no one mentioned anything about the "roof" of this car! Secondly, when I went to drop off this car over at the other Enterprise, it was not EVER brought to my attention that there had been any kind of damage on this car! And 3rd, I'm 4'11! SERIOUSLY?!?! How could I have possibly even looked at the top of this poopy car and document that crap!?!?!? (well, they figured they can try and scam the short Asian girl I guess!) As of right now, I can't even stand to communicate with idiots from Enterprise anymore! Once my car comes out from the bodyshop, Enterprise will have to pick their crap ar up from that bodyshop! I called my bank today and had them cancel my car b/c of fraudulent charges from Enterprise! NEVER AGAIN WILL I RENT FROM THEM! EFF YOU ENTERPRISE!

I rent from Enterprise fairly often and have always been happy with the cars, the staff at the local Enterprise store and the pricing. I rented over the weekend of July 1st, returning it on the 5th. As always the car was marvelous, the staff friendly and helpful. I was surprised when I returned it though, to be told that my entire deposit of $300.00 had been used and I owed $24.34 more. That was unexpected, as by my calculations no more than $230 to $260 dollars should have been used. Certainly $300.00 as compared to the $167.77 that was on my confirmation of order is a big difference. Please understand that I am not disappointed with the rental and if the charges were correct I have no problem with them, but it seems odd to me.

My wife and I went to the Enterprise branch office in Athens, Ohio where the staff there were not helpful, rude and service was not good. We won't go there for the service again.

My wife and I went to the Enterprise branch office in Athens, Ohio where the staff there were not helpful, rude and service was not good. We won't go there for the service again.
1) On Sept. 13 2010, when my wife whispered with me privately in dialect, the staff was rude and said that she didn't speak the dialect but only English.
2) The staff, when returning our car, told us the company policies that were not told to us when we rent the car. But the staff said that rules are rules and she had to follow up the rules. It was like that they knew the rules, didn't tell customer when renting a car, but charged the customers using the rules when returning the car.
3) we rent the car for 2 weeks. When we returned the car at 7pm of Friday, the office was closed due to weekend and the office would be open at 8am of next Monday morning. When we returned the car, we were told that we were charged with 3 additional days' rental, because of the office closure during weekend, even when a customer returned the car during weekend by slipping the car key to the office box. That's the company's policy. -- for this policy, we didn't complain about the staff though their service was bad.
4) when we asked for talking with the manager, we were given a phone number to call. When we dialed the number, we were told that the phone number is not in use anymore.

The policy was set in such a way that no matter when a customer returns a car during weekend, the customer will be charged by 3 additional days' rental fees, even though the customer didn't drive the car at all. --- this is the Enterprise policy that exploits customer.
A piece of suggestion to other customers: if you have a choice, don't rent car from Enterprise.

Enterprise are suckers, they have scammed me by filing a claim that I had damaged their rental car. This car was rented to me as a part of my accident rental by an Insurance company. When I returned the car, they had no employee on the premises to do the walk-around and I had to give the keys back to the receptionist. 15 days later received a call from Insurance company about the "damage". I am absolutely disgusted and will never rent a car with them again, will inform media about their illegal practice & scams. I see thousands of blogs abouth them online about $500 damage scamming.

ENTERPRISE RENT A CAR SCAM as of January 2010:
Enterprise Rent A Car---Florida has apparently entered into a secret deal with SUNPass and the Toll Road Authorities so that Enterprise can now POST CHARGE their customers for alleged Toll violations on "malfunctioning" Transponders that go through toll booths. Enterprise, which is now acting as the Gestapo Road Police, is quick and happy to charge its customers an "Administration Fee" of at least $10.00 per alleged infraction/violation. Enterprise says "we will remove the Post Charges if you can send us proof that your transponder was malfunctioning. Enterprise knows FULL WELL that this would be quite time consuming, and that 90% of the people will not spend the time for a simple $10 or $20 refund. It's a known fact that many of Florida's Toll machines continue to malfunction, as do their transponders. SO, good bye Enterprise, hello their competition ! This change in loyalty will also be directed to all of my employees as well.

I rented a truck from Enterprise in Texas it was checked out before and when I returned it we did have a flat tire. The Employee checked me in and everything was signed off as good. 3 to 4 days later I get a call from Enterprise stating that the tires were all damaged and we had to pay for all new tires around the truck. I said how can you call 3 to 4 days later after it was signed off as good and try to charge me for tires around the vehicle, he said that he could do it and sent me a bill for 526.54 to be paid by me. I am refusing to pay this bill because I did the walk around with them and they did sign off on the contract and neither the Employee or I did'nt see any damage to the tires at that point. I don't understand how they can all of a sudden deceide that the vehicle tires were all damaged when I did have a flat tire upon delivering the vehicle back to them and their Employee did look at the others and never stated to me that they were damaged while I was standing there. They did say not to worry about the flat tire that thats normal wear an tear. Does it take 3 to 4 days later to decide that they were all damaged. I thought that the whole reason that you do a walk around is for each the customer and the employee to agree to the condition of vehicle was acceptable upon the return.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car fraud

I rented a car from Enterprise in Killeen, Texas because I had to make an early morning appointment on Saturday morning. The rep advised me I should get the weekend special because the office was closed on the weekends anyways. I picked up the car friday evening and on Saturday morning proceeded to go to my appointment that was 50 miles away from my home. As soon as I got on the highway the tire was flat. I called the company to get the roadside assistance but they said it would be a few hours. I was told to put the spare tire on myself if I wanted to make my appt. On Monday I brought the car back and told them about the flat tire and being late to my appt. They could care less. The rep told me the tire had sidewall damage. He told me I must have parked too close to the curb that night. The thing is is that I parked the car in a carport away from any curbs or sidewalks. Then he calls the manager. The manager gets the tire and starts poking around with his key and tells me he found a hole and that someone must have slashed the tire. Now that they are claiming the tire was slashed, they tell me I am liable for that. I told them I had my own insurance but they said it did not matter because tires and stuff must be paid out of my own pocket. I tried to ask them if they could determine if the tire was damaged the night I picked it up but they wouldn't hear a word of it. They were extremely rude and accused me left and right about damaging the tire. Now they are going to try to notify my insurance. If anything, I don't feel I should be charged for the day the tire was flat and ruined the whole reason I rented the car.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car horrible customer service

I had never rented a car before and wasn't familiar with the process. I feel I was taken advantage of because of my inexperience. They didn't even walk me TO the car, much less around it to look for damage. I never signed saying I agreed to the condition of the car beforehand and now they're trying to charge me for scratches on the underside of the bumper. This never happened while I was driving, and I was the only one that drove the car. No one I have talked to will listen to my complaint. Sometimes they're even rude. They'll only say, "You have two options: 1) you can pay us now, or 2) we can send this to a collection agency". They also claimed that I WAS taken for a walk-around, which is an outright lie. No one I have dealt with has taken me seriously, but I am not letting this go. I know customer service - I've worked in the industry for years - and this is some of the worst customer service imaginable. All of their arguments are irrational and insubstantial, and they WILL NOT listen to my very legitimate and rational complaint, nor the plain fact that I never signed the portion of the contract agreeing to the condition of the car beforehand. I will never use Enterprise again.
