casement windows 400 series
I built a new home in 2000. I noticed some discoloration on the inside of my andersen windows. Upon further investigation I found that they had been rotting from the inside probably from the first day they were installed. When I removed the trim board I found nothing but rotted wood that was basically dust. Even though it was obvious that the damage is from the window leaking water inside the frame, andersen windows will not do anything and say that the glass is warrantied for 20years and the rest of the window only ten.
My recommendations would be to avoid this company and buy elsewhere. They do not stand behind any of their products.
I have French doors leading off the back of my home onto a deck. When I built the house I ordered the Andersen doors at a cost of over $3000 because I thought they were the best.
Now they have been on my home for 18yrs. They are wood on the inside and vinyl on the exterior. Sold as maintenance free.
The vinyl clad on the outside of the doors is falling off. I called Andersen and inquired about it. They said they would send me a new door panel at a cost of $1000 each. They want another $2000 from me to fix an obvious flaw in their door and vinyl cladding process.
This company does not stand behind any of their products.
Pathetic, for the price you pay for supposedly the best windows and doors and you end up with junk. You would be better off taking your money elsewhere.
window
Such a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. Brand new house and one of the windows fails. Look out window one day and the sash is hanging off literally. Andersen is called and replacement window is ordered. Installer shows up and comes down and says he cant replace the sash until we removed the plantation shutter. WHAT? You want me to pay for this? Andersen's response was we added a decorative accessory (I cant make this stuff up - he actually said this) and we will not pay to have it removed to put new window in. REALLY! Let me be clear we spent over twenty thousand dollars for new windows not even 5 months it fails and I have to pay to have my decorative accessory removed ( I am still laughing about this like I bought earrings for my window). Andersen would choose to loose a reference and a future repeat customer over $200-$250 (guess) have shutter removed and replaced. BTW called a couple of other window companies and they are saying they would have stepped up to the plate and paid to have this removed and replaced. Great job Andersen
emco/andersen series 400 storm door
Bought and had installed on October 20, 2015 a storm door from Home Depot. Paid for installing too. Came out installed, within one month door not closing properly. Called Home Depot 11-20-2015 and they sent installers out to house on 11-30-2015. Installers said wind damage made the door bend at the top and it was bent. They did best they could to make door close but top still doesn't close completely. Called Home Depot as to see what they would do. They said I should report to home owners insurance for wind damage. Called Anderson Windows headquarters [protected]), talked to "Mary" said door not covered for wind damage. The door is only little over one month and its our fault if the wind caught it during note when we're sleeping? Are the latches that flimsy that wind will open? I thought Anderson was a good door, but obviously a very cheaply made door. Will never go back to Home Depot, will never buy another Anderson product.
Also having problems with Andersen windows & doors. Very large investment in our stick built 2 story home. Andersen needs to stand up and
be counted in these issues.
storm door
I purchased an Emmco storm door for my front door. The model number is [protected]. After a few years it looked as if someone had damaged the door. A closer inspection indicated the the shell of the door was defective and the inside of the door was coming out. This was evident on both sides of the door; the outside that was exposed to the elements and also...

We built a new house in the fall of 2013. During the winter of 2013 & 2014 we noticed major air infiltration coming from our patio door. Both upstairs and down. Contacted the supplier and they had both sets of door panels replaced. The door panels, due to lack of quality assurance standards were wider in the middle (across the door) than the top and bottom, causing the seal in the middle of the door to have a 1/2" gap, allowing air to blow around the seal between the stationary panel and the glider. The replacements are doing the same thing. They are going to replace them again. But what I didn't know is when the builders' painter finished the first replacements, he didn't get paid by Andersen. Now I am going to be held responsible for having the interiors of the doors stained and finished. It is going to cost me $400 for their screw up. It states in their warranty that painting, staining and installation are excluded in the warranty.

not tdi compliant
I purchased 2 of the Anderson Windows and Doors series 200 sliding glass doors with impact resistant glass from Home Depot. . I received them Monday and called the TDI (Texas Department of Insurance) windstorm inspector to set up the installation which they (or a windstorm approved engineer) have to watch to make sure it meets the state windstorm requirements. He informed me that the doors were not approved by TDI, and to install them would void windstorm insurance on the house. I called Anderson WIndows and Doors immediately asking about them. I was told that they did have to get them approved and that I could bring them back to Home Depot. When I called Home Depot, they said no I could not return them. After about 12 to 15 calls to each over 5 days, I did bring the doors back to Home Depot and I was charge a 15% restocking fee.
Anderson has a 90 day satisfaction guarantee hey don't honor, and Home Depot doesn't care that they sell non-compliant doors and windows even when they are in the zone of 60 miles from the coast that requires windstorm approved doors and windows. The store I purchased these doors at was Home Depot # 0526, just 10 miles from the coast line.
Save time, your money, and a whole lot of aggravation by buying anything but Anderson Windows and doors, and shop somewhere else other than Home Depot so you can get the right product and not get stiffed for 15% because they won't offer advice.
The same happen to me I bought $4, 000 door manager said it was my lost because I didn't asked it'sthere job to Iinform the customer

Ok, had 23 andersen casement windows since 1978. Worked well, no leaks ever, no drafts, for 15 years. Slowly, handles and cranks went one by one, weather seals, one by one. Finally had enough by 2012 with super storm sandy, lost lots of seals and gas. Over all, except for handle usage, i did not have any manufacturing issues. Time for a change. Had old...

We have lots of failing 9 year old Andersen double hung windows. Likely 200 series. In warranty.
Many are showing signs of dark discoloration along the bottom rail of the lower sash. Some may be soft to the touch or showing early signs of rot. The Andersen rep measured moisture content of the wood trapped behind the cladding as high as 90%. We all know what happens next.
The response from the Andersen territory rep was that as of now, they don;t intend to cover these sashes under the warranty. The excuse seemed hardly applicable, like a few might have been installed a little out of square, but that seems more like a standard response than what we have here, as somewhere around 20-25 sashes are showing water absorption.
I saw in an earlier blog that someone named Wendy from Andersen Corporate had reached out to a poster and was curious if any help was ever received.
Tips appreciated.

We were recently told by an Anderson Rep that 28 out of our 32 windows were defective. Unfortunately, this company will not extend their warranty. Even though their windows are defective. Now I've got a house full of defective windows - some of which are failing and all the company is willing to do if give us 50% off the price of replacement windows. This just doesn't seem right to me.
warped storm door
On 5/3/2006, I had The Home Depot store install an EMCO storm door. Recently, the door appears warped and cannot secure. I contacted the Andersen customer service and she indicated the door is still under warranty. She provided me with Refernce number 9083957.

andersen windows poor quality hardware
HI there folks
Please be aware when buying anderson windows, the hardware is not corrosion Prof, we purchase 18 windows, 4 Sliding glass doors, 2 swing doors. At the time of purchase we upgraded the handles on the sliding glass doors to antique brass instead of composite, handles looked great for first six months after that it all went down hill, one of the doors showed signs of corrosion so we called andersen windows and shared the problem and the representative told us that it would be covered under warranty, so they sent us one new handle for one sliding glass door, three months latter we notice that all handles were corroding on the exterior of the doors, including the handles and hinges of the 2 swing doors, amazingly low quality finish for upgraded handles.
Again I called them and explained the problem and I was told to send pics of the hardware, they return my call couple days later telling me that the hardware was not covered under warranty for corrosion, are you kidding me, less than a year and they are corroded, we live a couple miles from the ocean at 800 feet elevation, this is so frustrating I will definitely not use anderson windows for my cottage.
All I ask is how can you make an exterior handle that does not have a corrosion prof finish, even the $30 home depot handle that i have in my shed for 4 years is not rusting huge disappointment. PLEASE NOTE ON PICTURES THAT HINGES ARE ON THE INSIDE OF THE DOOR JAMB NOT EXPOSED TO WEATHER IMAGINE WHAT THE HANDLES LOOK LIKE.

Rotting wood in the windows
I spent a small fortune in 2000 with Andersen Windows on a new home built the same year. I just found [1/13/13] that 10 of the double hung windows in the home had rot on the inside wood-not the outside-all in the lower left corner of the lower sash. I contacted Andersen today to find out that the windows were manufactured in 1999 and therefore their warranty on the windows is only ten year-20 years on the glass- therefore there is no fix for these rotting windown other than to replace them at my cost. There seems to be a multitude of complaints ont he net about rotting Andersen windows and there is a law office out of California advertising for people to seek joing a class action lawsuit against Andersen for these windows. I have Andersen casement windows and they are not rotting and they work fine. The double hung windows are essentially junk and all in the same location. The other writings on the net indicate that the problem is how the window is constructed in allowing a water leak from the outside into the inside and therefore the rot occurring on the inside and not on the outside. The people at Andersen are polite but of no help.
My home is the same! Built our home in 2001 and many of our windows are rotting. We can’t afford to replace them all! This is Disgustig. Now they have renewal by Anderson. Sure there wi downs went bad! People who gave the money just pay it. We can’t !
Our house built 1993. About 12-14 years after, all the windows on south side were showing some rot on bottom sash. Andersen pitched their renewal to me then. Huh uh. I don’t reward getting screwed over by bending over again. Hell will freeze before I give Andersen another dime.
Hi, its Chad again. This is my last resort. I recommend you all do the same and send this boardto your State representative. Cut and paste the post address and maybe we will get some answers after all these years. Sorry you all have to deal with this. O feel for you. Good Luck.

My name is Chad K, ( KallioinenElectric@gmail.com ). Built 2006. 400 series double hung tilt. Minnesota factory. CIG-2.8 1-06 . 16 in total, plus 2 x sliding patio. All rotted by 2007. In disrepair with, (and no-exaggeration), mushrooms fruiting on more then one. Vented home with humidity regulation system, (even before Michigan’s mandate deeming such systems mandatory ). Reputable contractor now 26 years, 2113 homes built or co-built in total between them. 600+ positive on Angie (you see where I’m going w/this)...? Home humidity tested, and approved by 3 of 4 test sources. Three of whom consider 31% humidity well within structural standards and therefore “...IN CONCLUSION, IT IS THIS INSPECTORS PROFESSIONAL OPINION THAT THE INTERIOR HUMIDITY RECORDED IS NOT EXTREME ENOUGH TO QUALIFY AS A CANDIDATE IN THE DEGRADATION AND ULTIMATE CAUSE OF STRUCTURAL FAILURE OF THE WINDOW/WINDOWS IN QUESTION”. And we don’t have to guess who the minority vote belongs to. But after several visits, and even more accusations, not one thing was offered. I am a single father of one. I work hard but I am by no means financially “well off”. Quite the opposite and I’m not ashamed to admit it. Anyone in my shoes will tell you that just being able to build a home for your family at 23 is more than enough to be proud and thankful for. And as horrible as I feel about what those unhealthy, atrociously hazardous window are probably responsible for, in reference to my now eight year olds many health issues (mostly upper respiratory). I simply couldn’t afford to buy new windows that early into my mortgage. I hope no one has to feel that. What should be my second proudest accomplishment is forever stained with a constant reminder that I’m just too small to fight a corporation. Even if it meant the health of the ones I care for the most. I know that is going to sounds silly, or over the top to some of the people who read this. But I hope that’s because you aren’t in our situation, and by all means, purchase a set, you can see for yourself.
They only posted one of my pictures. I’m unsure why. If interested, I have many more. My daughter is out of town for two weeks so I used this opportunity to allow them to go unattended. But FYI, I’d never let them get that bad. Damn shame, use to be one hell of a great view. KallioinenElectric@gmail.com or [protected] I’d love it if my state had a C.A.L. I’d be all in.
Built my home in 1994 and have the same rotting problem on about 30 double hung window bottom sashes. Anderson relayed there is nothing they can do since warranty expired. Seems like a defective product should be made whole by a reputable manufacturer. Curious if there is a class action suit anywhere to get this resolved. I would be on board.

So many problems. Home built in 2000. Water damage to window sills (inside!).
Wood rot behind jambs. Rotten bottom sashes. Failed gasket that soaks up and holds water.
Replaced some sashes in 2015. One of those is rotten again. The problem will keep occurring. The window has a flawed design. It traps water. We have double hung windows with the grids between the glass.
We have 13 windows. We would have to replace them all with a different design.
Hi, I am with you all, and I need help before the windows need to be replaced. Can anyone give me some advice? The water appears to be coming in the bottom of the closed window in wet, windy weather. I am hardening and trying to fix the rotten wood, which isn't terribly extensive yet, but after that I would like to do the most I can to protect the windows. I removed the water-soaked foam "weather strips." I would like to replace them with something better (silicon tube, caulk?). But I feel that since this strip is in the middle of the bottom of the window, I should adhere another strip that will block the water before it gets to the replaced weatherstrip, like another strip of silicon. Also, I actually bought some gorilla waterproof clear tape and thought I might wrap it along the bottom edge of the window so the water doesn't move from the cladding to the wood so easily. Can someone help? Thanks so much!
Hi, in 2007, I bought a 1998-built home with Anderson 200 wood double-hung windows. I didn't realize until 2009 (just 1 year out of warranty) that several of the lower sashes were rotting (black wood at the inside corners of bottom sash and rot along horizontal surface of sash where it hits sill). The sashes rotted so much that as I raised some of the windows, the wood on the bottom sash splintered and ripped off. I've now had to replace 8 bottom sashes at my own cost. The cost for the replacement bottom sashes has been skyrocketing on Andersen.com. I live in Kentucky and would love to be informed of any class action lawsuit.
This is an update to the posting of Sept. 07, 2020. I ordered a new sash and found out that the weather strip for the upper and lower rails has been changed. The New weatherstrip is part number 9181571. I got 8 of them after talking to customer service. It was a very interesting conversation about the weather strip that is totally redesigned. It is now hollow and it is changed from white to black. The problem now is that they want too much money for it: $7.00 each piece. So it is $14.00 to retrofit the top and the bottom rails.
So I have now retrofit a number of my windows. In the process of doing the weatherstrip, my conclusion is that the corner joints of the sashes constructed for my house in 1998 did not have the corner joints sufficiently primed, resulting in any water getting in reached the end grain and rotting it out. So the sashes that I worked on got a dose of Zinsser oil based bond coat

10 years ago I built a custom home with 75 Andersen windows. 26 of them contained removable grilles for easy cleaning. The grilles have snapped repeatedly over the years. Most of the time I have repaired them; however sometimes I need them replaced. Andersen replaced the grilles on demand for the warranty period but made no improvements to the grilles for that 10 yr period. I am now nearly out of warranty time, and despite the replaced grilles being newer than the original window 10 yr warranty, they will no longer replace them and want me to buy them. Maintenance cost (and time!) should be a consideration when purchasing these already pricey windows.

quality
I built a new home in Illinois in 1985. We installed Andersen casement windows in the entire house. These were tripple pane glass with the terratone vinyl cladding. With in a few years, most of the tripple pane glass were full of moisture. Andersen did replace all the bad window panels with their new high performance glass panels. The replacement was free, but the damage to the interior wood trim around the windows had to be repaired/replaced by me, the home owner. Not cheap! I complained to Andersen about this and nothing was done. The HP windows seemed fine, for awhile. The glass began to suck in. My windows looked like the old circus mirrors. Some even filled up with moisture again. Andersen agreed to replace or repair the glass panels. They had their repairmen remove the windows so they could drill a hole in between the glass. This would allow air to enter the space between the glass and the glass was to relax to it's flat, natural position. This worked, but what about the argon that made these windows high performance? The argon is gone! These widows are now just double pane glass. I really got my money's worth. The wood window trim is damaged again, also from removing the stationary panels. My windows are just about to expire their warrenty. The Andersen repairmen were here just yesterday, drilling more vent holes in glass panels that have already been drilled and vented. Apparently the venting fix is short termed. He did agree to replace two panels, labor not included. I have had several other issues with Andersen Windows. The vinyl cladding on the window frames where the sun shines on them, has all come loose and has been repaired by drilling and injecting glue. The cladding has become brittle and cracks, allowing water to get behind it. The casement panels are individual sections that are fasted together to make one window. Andersen uses a plastic "T" strip that inserts between these panels to keep the weather out. The sun/weather causes the plastic T strip to expand and work out of the window gap. This leaves a crack for rain to enter. The bed room window, located on the west side of our home, had this happen. We didn't see it had come out at the top of the window. Everytime it rained, water was channeled down between the glass panels and it rotted ot the wood framing under the window, all the way to the sill plate. This repair cost $3600.00. I would never buy Andersen windows again. They have been good, to a point, about repairing their windows, but they should have just replaced the bad windows to start with, not just have made bandaid repairs that won't last. Andersen needs to do more homework on their window designs.
Slow or no response from Andersen, with six sliders and ten casement windows, I doubt I'll purchase Andersen windows again
defective storm door
Purchased storm door made by Anderson subsidiary, I believe in Iowa.
Door blistered by handle and turned out to be apparent lead or aluminum blistering all around handle, in less than one year. Unsightly.
Anderson referrred me to the subsidiary in Iowa called EMCO ENTERPRISES. I called them. They did absolutely nothing. They completely failed to honor their warranty which is supposed to last for the lifetime of the owner.
P.S. I'm still alive, but they didn't honor it. Breach of warranty.
I purchased this door at Home Depot...they refer you to Anderson who does nothing but refers you to EMCO Enterprises, who also do nothing to honor the warranty..
Frankly, this storm door is a complete piece of junk and is an embarassment to have on your front entrance.
Anderson and Emco's dismissive attitude toward their warranty is a breach of warranty and a disgrace.
They count on your not suiing them. I may do so nevertheless, I am so incensed.
TO THE PUBLIC: LEARN FROM MY EXPERIENCE.
AVOID ANDERSON AND ANY SUBSIDIARIES, SUCH AS EMCO ENTERPRISES DOORS, SOLD AS "EMCO" AT HOME DEPOT. IN YOUR PURCHASES, unless you want to be treated this way.
received in two packages at time of new construction did not open until this spring supplier will not replace free of charge
Last year we ordered an entire new house windows from the supplier that we purchased the entire wood, etc. that it takes to build a new house. When we received the windows the roof wasn't even on yet, our contractor counted the screens but did not take them out of the two shipping boxes. When we opened the boxes recently due to the warm weather we found four of the large screens damaged. They were packaged on the inside of others, that were not damage therefore it was easy to tell these screens had been packaged damaged not damaged after we opened them.
We were really disappointed after notifying the supplier, Brookside Lumber, that they refused to supply new undamaged screens instead they said they would repair the screens at a cost to us. This was unacceptable to me as the person who will have to clean the windows and screens. I just taped the screens and installed them, it looks so stupid in the window but I truly hope people will ask me why they are taped so others will here the story.
What I think would be the only fair, professional, ethic answere would for the company to have contacted the Andersen rep and request these 4 screens to be replaced. They are large windows so to have someone else repair them it will be a cost to us.

We built a new home in 2002 using Andersen 400, green, vinyl clad, double hung windows. We recently noticed large openings, some in excess of 1/4", in the corners both top and bottom on the exterior frames where the vinyl appears to have opened up (pics attached). This has occurred on all 29 series 400 windows. A neighbor who has Andersen green, vinyl clad windows recently showed me where many of his frames are "spongy" at the bottom from apparent rotting. The windows also started fading right away (after I was assured by Andersen that they wouldn't). After 9 years the fading is significant. Their solution was they would paint them. I bought vinyl clad so I wouldn't have to paint, so I have delayed any decision. Anyway, these problems are not good signs for "maintenance-free" windows. I contacted Andersen by email and we'll see how long it takes to get the right attention. Anyone out there with similar problems?

I have Anderson 400 in green vinyl. Window are about 12 years old, 2 years out of warranty. All of the exterior sills are cracking. I spoke to Anderson and they told me the only fix is to replace the frames. At this point, I am not sure I want to put more money into this product. Plus the windows have faded so much the frames will not be close to the older windows. Anyone else seeing this issue?
Hello - I have the same green Andersen windows and door and they are awful. They leak, the cluster flies seem to walk right through them as if they were open, drafts are unbelievable, every bottom frame is bowed up making a tight seal impossible. You couldn't hold a candle near the windows in the winter as it would immediately blow out from the wind coming through these windows. On the exterior doors, they were made for a 2x4 wall. If they are installed in a 2x6" wall, Andersen added an extension - which created a seam in the middle of the frame allowing large amounts of water through. It's a nightmare. Our builder said that this is absolutely normal and expected from Andersen and that's why they will only install them if the client insists - and then they have to sign a waiver.
I have the same 400 series, green, double hung vinyl windows. Installed in 2006. Severe separation and ice build up inside. The wood is ruined on all units and after being called a liar and blamed repeatedly over the last 12 years, my warranty has lapsed and now I'll be forced to replace all my windows. I am a single father with a 5 year old girl and can't afford to fix 12 year old windows. I complained from day one and was shuffled back and forth by Andersen. Even sent out a rep to insult me after 9 years of compaining, stating that my house was above the recommended 17% humidity level. Anyone from Michigan knows that that is impossible even in the winters. In my research overy the years I found out my windows were manufactured in Minnesota in January of 06'. Since there wasn't a class action suit available to join in Michigan like there was in New York, and Minnesota, I wasn't able to do anything about it. I'm afraid I will be forced to take the money my now decease parent's intended for my daughters college fund and fix windows covered with black mold and ice. If you are reading this and are thinking of purchasing Andersen windows for your home or new build, please reconsider and call or text me for pictures and more information. My name is Chad and my number is [protected]. Don't get stuck like we did. I should be enjoying the home I built for my family, not regretting it. I’ve been dealing with a Andersen window coloring agent problem.
Back in [protected] apparently the compounding Co that created the Forest Green color neglected
To include the UV protectant. I have windows that have lost over 50% of their color.
Andersen sent out a crew to refurbish in April of 2016 and are now fading again.
Their response to me was the warranty has expired. My response to them was, I was sold a product that was not 100% in its manufacturing process.
I have these same windows and after several years of complaining, Andersen sent me new windows but refused to cover installation. The windows have been stored in my garage for several years as I couldn’t afford the installation costs. I now have water damage to our wood floors and doors below these windows.
We installed Replacement by Andersen two years ago and now have a cluster fly problem inside. They sent someone out last fall who caulked but the problem is returning again this fall. We didn't have this problem before the installation of these windows.
I have Andersen double hung widows and have an insect problem. Cluster flies are getting through the screen! Worse, they are coming in via the widow! I have put up plastic to seal the widow off to see if the source are the widows. After several days, there were many flies trapped between the plastic on the interior of the house widow and the inside of the widow. Andersen sent a rep out to see about my situation. He took the widow apart and we found many dead flies trapped inside the vertical vinyl slots. He said, " I have never seen anything like this."
His report to Andersen was that the widows are functioning properly. Andersen claims all sorts of thinks. The widows were not installed correctly, the flies are coming in from another source. ( That is why I isolated 3 widows on the interior of the house to test this out). Our conversation was over 2 hours long. I explained my heat loss idea that attracted the flies. YES, IF THE FLIES ARE COMING IN, THERE ARE AIR LEAKS! The flies are coming in on the sides of the screen edges and then going into the vertical channels the widows open with and I think through a 1/4" gap at the top of the widow's vinyl. (see picture on previous complaint). They refused to give me the detailed plans of the vinyl structure that I planned to use to make the repair easier. I did send pictures to an email address that did not work which they gave me! They promised to call me when the report came in. I called several times and they did not call me as promised. I had to find out the news my phoning them. There is much more to this event but, I do not want to write a book. I feel that the widows are over designed(or poorly) and made of cheap vinyl that will rot out in the weather. I still remember olds 1920 houses with double hung widows that did not have this problem. The were wooden framed. I have a 1922 house, also that has double hung widows that does not have insects coming in.
The vinyl clad has separated and opened up at top and bottom corners
We built a new home in 2002 using Andersen green vinyl clad, double hung windows. The windows started fading right away (after I was assured by Andersen that they wouldn't). After 9 years the fading is significant. Their solution was they would paint them. I bought vinyl clad so I wouldn't have to paint, so I have delayed any decision. Today we were washing the exterior of the windows and noticed large openings in excess of 1/4" in the corners, both top and bottom, on the exterior frames, where the vinyl appears to have opened up (pics attached). This has occurred on many of my windows. A neighbor who has Andersen green, vinyl clad windows recently showed me where many of his frames are "spongy" at the bottom from apparent rotting. Anyway, this is not a good sign for a "maintenance-free" window. I contacted Andersen by email today and will call on Monday.

We also purchased Forest Green Anderson WIndows in 2005. ALL of the frames have faded and look terrible. After several years and many conversations with Anderson, they decided to paint them for us. Paint does not stick on vinyl. Even I know that! Their large casement windows frames are bowing, the mechanism is broken. The rep who came to look at the window and sliders tried to fix the slider and made it open but now it leaks. Don't they have a warrantee?
I also purchased the Forest green Windows and have experienced the fading. They 1st painted them with a Lifetime coating 4 years ago and they faded again, They repainted again this year and will not commit to stand behind the windows and doors aftewr the 10 year warrenty on none glass products. I am A Builder and will never install another Anderson product in any home that I build. I am fortunate though that these windows are in my home as I would replace them if it was a customers as I stand behind my work. Anderson apparently does not. In the future when they fade again I will have my Attorney file suit to have them replaced.

Hi, We built our new home in 2005 and our forest green colored anderson windows started fading a year after we had built and we have been going around and around with anderson and they also recommend they will paint them. When talking to the painter they sent out to my house he stated they have been painting alot of these windows because where ever they purchased there plastic for the cladding the manufacturer forgot to put in UV stabelizer into the product. If Anderson knew of a defect they should of pulled it off the market . I spent almost 30, 000 on windows for what I thought was supposed to be the best window on the market boy was I wrong.
My name is Wendy and I am a representative of Andersen Windows. I'm sorry to hear that this is happening to your windows. Please contact me @ [protected] and I will help you get this issue resolved. Thank you.
revise prior complaint submission
I wish to revise my submission of earlier today. After Emailing CEO of Andersen Windows, Mr. James Humphrey, I received a telephone call from Mr. Craig Hanson on Mr. Humphrey's behalf. Mr. Hanson researched my order prior to calling, as well he had listened to the audio recording of my earlier telephone call with Andersen Customer Service Rep, Dave. Mr. Hanson assured me that my issues will be resolved and he will see to it. Two of the three items were shipped to me today, and the final item will be shipped out as soon as possible. He will follow up the order personally. I cannot ask for more, and though initially annoyed with Andersen Windows, I now offer appreciation for the company's effort to make it right.

In March I ordered 5 A series windows from Anderson to complete the restorations and upgrades to this early 1900's house. When May rolled around and I had removed 3 of the old windows covering them with plywood anticipating their arrival, I was informed that the order had been re-written not once but 3 times and that each time my order was placed at the bottom of the factory order list. When the windows finally arrived, the color we chose was incorrect the quantities were wrong and one size obviously was for someone else's order. Once more the order was placed and again a tedious wait for the windows to arrive. This time the 4 windows arrived correct size and correct color it is now July hot, steamy and buggy just what I tried to avoid ordering them early. The large picture window was to be delivered later. When it arrived, the attachment fin (nailing fin) was not made to accommodate the exterior trim which snaps on. Likewise the Prairie grill work on the window was missing. A call to the factory person Jamie informed me that the area tech would be out to install the grill work. I asked to have the attachment strips drop shipped so I could continue applying the clapboards. No the rep will have them and install them. It is now the 22nd of August and still not a word from the area tech. I was told he would be here no the 22nd to complete the missing parts, but now I am told he will call which has not happened. I have no recourse but to write the CEO since customer service is a disaster. It is a shame since the windows that did arrive look great, expensive but great looking.

We replaced all of our windows with Anderson 400 series in [protected]. The outside frames (teratone color) are completely faded and have started to have cracks and gaps at the corners. I am disappointed in the quality and look of the windows that I thought would last a lifetime.
