Approx. one week ago, on a Friday evening, we discovered a leak in the main drainage pipe in our basement. We immediately contacted a plumber who arrived the next day. He looked over the pipe in question and stated it would need to be replaced along with some other cooper pipes at a cost of $4000, Since we had to keep the water off and it was a weekend we agreed to have the work done the next day. After the work was completed we contacted CHOICE HOME WARRANTY, who we have a policy with, and the representative stated since we did not contact them before the work was done it was not covered, We explained the situation was an emergency and asked how long it would have taken for them to contact a plumber and have him respond and the answer was 24 to 48 hrs. It was explained that we either had to shut off the water or continue the leaking in the basement so we decided it needed to be fixed immediately and we were requesting reimbursement. The rep denied they could do anything. This was the second time we had an issue with this company the first being a submitted claim for a broken washing machine. The company did contact a repair man who said he could arrive in a week and then on the day of arrival he canceled and wanted a makeup date in another 7 days. we went out and purchased a new washing machine for $750 and Choice Home denied any reimbursement until we said we wanted to cancel our policy at which point a customer rep offered us $300.
