I am a huge fan of Chik-fil-a and how they do business. Friday, Feb. 14th at 7:00 pm I went to the Chik-fil-a in the smaller terminal at DTW airport. The line was fairly long but not too bad. As I waited to place my order the line continued to grow until it was going out into the walkway. Meanwhile the people working at the Chik-fil-a, while very kind, were working at a pace that included chatting with one another, it took two people to make a milkshake all the while chatting casually and the pace at which they moved from counter to gather items was like they had all the time in the world. I know it wasn't just my expectations as others were also talking about how long it was taking.
My thought was, "It's a good thing no has a plane to catch because they're likely to miss it waiting in this line." I could have moved much faster and taken care of all the customers in the time they were completing just a few. Quite frankly I was shocked Chik-fil-a would allow this to be the way they're doing business. I have been to the Chik-fil-a in the McNamera terminal several times and it was run as I would expect from this company.
Before leaving I spoke with the manager at the time. He was also kind depite my being stern. He apologized for my wait however, I don't think he had any idea how slow his employees were as he to moved without concern for the waiting customers as well.
My goal in writing this is to let Chik-fil-a know that this particular resturant is run in a manner not becoming to their good management skills.
