I am filing this complaint regarding my Carnival Horizon cruise from August 23–29, 2026. I paid approximately $3,000 for a Cloud 9 Spa Suite, which was supposed to provide an upgraded experience, including priority boarding. Unfortunately, the trip did not meet those expectations.
Upon arrival, the priority boarding line took approximately two hours, while passengers in the general boarding line appeared to move through much faster. This defeated the purpose of paying for priority benefits.
Once onboard, the air conditioning was not functioning properly in several important common areas of the ship. Because we were sailing in the Caribbean, these areas became extremely hot and uncomfortable. Although my cabin had air conditioning, I did not pay approximately $3,000 for a cruise vacation to remain inside my room simply to stay comfortable.
The most serious issue involved a passenger in a neighboring cabin. She repeatedly watched me when I entered or exited my cabin and made complaints about me. I later received a written notice from Carnival alleging marijuana smoking. I completely dispute this allegation. I was not shown or provided any evidence that I had been smoking marijuana.
I understand Carnival must investigate potential policy violations; however, an unsupported accusation should not result in a guest feeling accused or targeted without evidence. The situation became so uncomfortable that during the final days of my cruise, I avoided spending time in and around my own cabin and balcony because I did not want to be subjected to additional complaints or accusations. This substantially interfered with my ability to enjoy the premium suite and balcony I paid for.
I am also concerned about whether this unsubstantiated allegation was placed on my Carnival guest record. I want Carnival to review the incident and ensure my record does not improperly reflect an allegation that was never proven.
Additionally, entertainment and nightlife options were limited. There appeared to be only one primary nightclub, leaving passengers of widely different ages with essentially one nightlife option.
While there were portions of the vacation I enjoyed, the priority boarding delay, air-conditioning problems, limited entertainment, and especially the unsupported marijuana allegation and resulting discomfort using my own cabin significantly diminished my vacation.
I am requesting that Carnival review these circumstances and provide appropriate compensation for the diminished experience and loss of enjoyment of my premium accommodations.
Claimed loss: $1,500
Desired outcome: I am requesting $1,500 in compensation through a partial refund and/or future cruise credit, along with written confirmation that the unsubstantiated marijuana allegation will not negatively affect my Carnival guest record.
