I attempted to purchase security software for my laptop. It was my first attempt in using the card on the internet, The purchase mentioned above was flagged and denied. I received a text asking me to call Capital One fraud office to verify the charges were approved. When I did, I spoke to three agents and their supervisor. I provided over the phone all the information correctly on my file and informed them that the charge was authorized by me. I was informed that was not the policy and they asked for a copy of my Driver's license or my Passport, three months of my bank statement, three months of utility bills to prove residence with my address on file, they also asked for three months of bank statements with the deposits and expenditures, further they asked for three months of employment paychecks all to prove I am who they already confirmed I was, and for a charge of $47 dollars I authorized. I refuse to send my personal financial, employment records, but am willing to send my proof of ID. Your supervisor said that was not good enough and I need to provide all the records requested if I wanted my card activated again. You can check my account and see I have repaid on my card, I do not have a very high limit on the card,. I feel this is one of the underhanded tatics to gain my private and personal information for other purposes than proof of Identity. This needs to be resolved to my benefit as quickly as possible. I have submitted this complaint to the BBB and will do so to other governing bodies.
