I reserved a King sized room with a sleeper sofa at the Courtyard by Marriott South, Virginia Beach for 3 nights from 7/16-19/2026 using Booking.com for $1127.19, a reservation that I made a couple months ago, which was secured by my American Express card. However, when my family and I tried to check-in, we were told that we didn't have a reservation. Booking.com tried to resolve the issue but the best the Marriott could do was offer a room at the current price of $1900, which Booking.com said they'd only be able to cover $500 of the adjusted price. Not willing to pay more than what I was guaranteed by Booking.com when I made my reservation, I was forced to secure lodging at a hotel across the street from the courtyard by Marriott South Virginia Beach. Booking.com should've agreed to cover the difference and resolved the mishap with the Marriott later, but the company had very poor resolution skills or integrity! They wouldn't even allow me to speak to a supervisor even after requesting to speak to one twice! I am very frustrated with both Booking.com and the Marriott! And because of my experience, I cannot in good conscience recommend using Booking.com for your travel needs! They're good as long as nothing goes wrong but if there is an issue, you will unfortunately be at their mercy and they will not do you right! You would probably be better off using Expedia, Travelocity, or Agoda, for travel accommodations, which I plan to do moving forward. Word to the wise.
Recommendation: Use Expedia, Travelocity, or Agoda!
