I booked a property via booking.com and was sent a separate message by the property asking for payment on a different site. After reaching out to booking.com, they confirmed it was a real property. However, upon arriving to the property, we learned it was a scam. As a result, we booked a new place. Booking.com then promised a to cover the cost difference between the original booking and the new one. After a number of emails and a call, I was finally able to receive a credit for the difference in the cost. However, during the call I was told that I would be able to transfer the credit to my bank account. I confirmed this was the case. When I went to transfer the credit, there was no option, so I reached back out to booking.com. After a number of messages, I was told that because I did not have the promise of being able to transfer to a bank in writing, I would not be able to do so. I was misled about the potential refund options and was stuck with credits that can only be used on booking.com.
Claimed loss: $320
Desired outcome: I would like either like the amount credited sent to my account, or I would like an increase in the amount provided as a credit.
