I rented a car for 28 days and pre-paid, I took full insurance. My elderly parents had a car accident back in Spain so I had to rush back to Spain and managed to fly a day sooner on 5 September. I explained the exceptional circumstances to the customer representative when I handed over my car and he said it would not be an issue. After this, I got charged £572 and a day later £872! Avis made me exceed my credit limit even. I have emailed Avis customer services 11 times and received no response. I waited 40 mins on the phone to speak to a customer representative and they assured me they will put things right and refund me within 5 days. That was a month ago! I have been unfairly treated and my bank has not even asked for evidence of my complaint to Avis and charged me the £872 again! I paid over £1,300 for a month rental and just because I returned the car a day earlier due to an emergency Avis charged me £872!
Claimed loss: £872.82
Desired outcome: To get this additional amount which I did not approve or authorise (and I was not even made aware of when I dropped off the car) refunded.
