Awful
Amerigas is really good at setting up the account but if you ever need to contact them again you are screwed. You will stay on the line for at least 45-60 min. I moved and told them to not make a delivery (twice I called to tell them) since we were closing a few days later. They delivered it anyway and wanted me to pay for it even though I didn't own the house when they made the delivery. Turns out their contract requires you to keep it open for three years regardless of the fact you don't live there anymore. Even moving out of state. I didn't read the fine print and they were trying to charge me a termination fee of $168.00 because my current contract didn't expire until 11/2025. They didn't care that someone else was signing up with them to continue the service. I finally reopened the account (this is really stupid) so they removed the termination fee. Why they want you to keep an account open for the duration of the contract knowing full well you don't live there anymore is pathetically stupid.
There is a reason most of these reviews are 1 star. Find a local company to serve you and not this one. I wish I had a receipt handy so I could verify that I was an actual customer but not available.
Recommendation: Run, Don't walk away and go to a local dealer
Ditch these losers
AmeriGas is not a local company, they do not have local branches and you are relegated to doing business with them via their call centers in Africa, Charlotte, NC or Cleveland, OH. When I called the local number, [protected], to set up service they sure acted local. Now that they have rescheduled my delivery 5 times in the dead of winter and I’m down below 10%, no one is local and no one can tell me what is going on. They just reschedule the delivery which is subsequently cancelled. Do yourself a favor and find a local company with a local office you can speak to who gives a crap. These guys tank will be on my curb shortly for them to pick up and be out of my life. Terrible customer service. BTW, the local location, is locked with the following message, “Out of concern for the safety and health of our employees, customers and community, we have continued to restrict walk-in traffic at this location.” But, this stuff is safe to pump into my home, or they’ve had way to many people come in fired up because of their awful business model.
Recommendation: Find a company who has local employees who will take good care of you.
Zero stars
While I have experienced bad service and support in the past as I am sure everyone has, I have never been impacted by the lack of service support and overall lack of competence experienced with Amerigas. I will lie awake tonight wondering how they are even in business. Spent a total of 3 hours on hold to to find out that a delivery scheduled 11 days out was not going to happen. Then when confirmed with a supervisor that a delivery was on the way, it never showed up. To make matters worse it appears that when you call customer service, you are calling a third world country as everyone could bare speak english. Avoid doing business with this company at all costs...
Recommendation: Run away as far and fast as possible....
lack of service and professionalism.
Poor customer service, all phone calls are sent to overseas call centers that have no knowledge of gas service. Could not provide the service I needed yet the call center said yes yes to everything. Truck shows up to the address unequipped because the call center can't relay the message properly. On hold for 45 minutes then get hung up on by rude person on phone when they realized they had no argument.
Worse company, you will regret going with them!!!
If I can give 0 stars I would, it use to be good, I have been with them for over 10 years and I was able to talk to the local office with any issues, now you get people from China, Philippines, India, Vietnam who knows where, but most of them does not speak English! They all promise that you won't get charged to get you off the phone but at the end everything you talked to them about is non existence, The end of March I called to get my Auto delivery canceled because we only use propane for our gas stove which we are no longer going to be using, well the next week I received a delivery and they filled my tank! This is their error so I should not get charged for any of the hazard fees ect... but they charged me anyways, I got charged over $80 then I got charged $199.99 for them to pick up their own tank, plus $99.99 for dispatch fees, what the hell is that? so this is for a 30 gallon tank, unbelievable, they said the only way the charge would be taken off is to talk to my local office, really? they do this on purpose, you can not talk to your local office because they do not have a phone number!. or even exist anymore. What a bunch of Crooks!
Recommendation: DO NOT RECOMMEND
No one is allowed to make their own decision because the company is too large
I’m a property manager who signed his client up for autopay 6 days before the current invoice was due. I’ve never missed a payment and when I asked if they could put the current bill into autopay I was told I’d get a late notice but it would roll into auto payments. I received a $30.00 fee for a bounced check I wasn’t expecting and was told that they couldn’t do anything about it. I switched to a local gas company. Amerigas is difficult to communicate with and their office has a sign in the window saying no entry use the internet. They left the tank on my clients lawn for a month or so before picking it up.
Recommendation: Go with a local company, they actually care about not having a bad reputation.
Fraudulent Liars
Absolutely nothing has changed and the Attorney General's Office still doesn't do [censored] about it. Our tank has shown empty for months in their system and nobody has come to fill our tank. We called and requested a refill and once again nobody ever shows up. They force you into "emergency" status by not filling your tank when promised. By being in emergency status they charge an additional $200! There is no local number to call. You are directed to a call center in Indonesia where they barely speak English and don't do a damn thing for you. AmeriGas is a fraudulent company that does not care at all about it's customers. As long as the fat cats at the top keep making huge profits us little people can sit and freeze to death.
If I could give negative stars I would.
I have needed my old, used propane tank picked up for over TWO YEARS and they won't come and get the tank. I need a construction project to start on my property but cannot begin until the propane tank is removed. I left Amerigas due to its over high pricing, poor service and running out of propane too many times to count... even though I was on an auto refill program. This is the worst propane provider in the Bay Area! Good luck talking with someone at the office.. it won't happen. There is no customer service! I've called over 5 times regarding this problem over months and months and still, the old propane tank sits in my yard. You talk to a service rep who will "fill out a report", and then... NOTHING! Each time they tell me they have 30 days to rectify the problem and then 30 days later, it isn't rectified. They are too big to pay attention to residential customers. They won't help and there is nothing you can do.
Recommendation: Don't trust Amerigas

Lying about propane delivery
Ordered propane in web portal. Propane delivery was from April 7 -10. On April 7 received text there was no delivery because tank was full. Checked tank not full. Now below 10 percent. Called support about text, the said it would be delivered within window. Now April 12 and no propane. Order is now removed from web portal. I pay monthly and order when needed. But now can't get them to deliver. Ordered again from web interface but am not hopeful I'll get any propane. I guess it's time to shop somewhere else.
Desired outcome: Not sure at this point. This company has lost my trust.

$340 bill and tank still not connected!
I have been an Amerigas customer since 2006.
I have been trying for over a year to have the Amerigas tank moved 10 feet and hooked up to our new home on same lot.
I started with website feedback. This was never answered, apparently no one is checking the website feedback.
I called the number on the website and was connected to their overseas call center and was told that they didn't have anyone who could do the hookup. I opted to try again later, I had filled the tank right before the new home was completed and didn't want to lose several hundred dollars' worth of propane.
I tried again on a second occasion and was told again that they didn't have anyone who could hook the tank up. At that point we had just been through a storm which had 100 mph straight line winds, and wanted to keep the tank for a generator we were purchasing.
We installed the generator and purchased a new tank locally due to Amerigas's lack of response.
The new tank is further from the house, so I decided to try one last time to get it hooked up or cancel my service.
To my surprise, I was able to get an appointment in February this year.
The tech arrived without trencher, so the service call could not be completed.
After rescheduling and several delays due to weather, I got a second tech on-site last week. He called ahead and I told him that I thought the ground was too soft, but he wanted to come out to see the area for himself. He was not given proper instructions with the order, and didn't know when he arrived that he needed to move a tank and trench for a line. Apparently the first tech had made no notes on the call.
We checked the area where the tank is located felt that the ground is too soft for the job, so he left me his number so that I could call him directly now that he understands the job and can bring the proper equipment. I do not know if he brought a trencher.
Tonight I checked my email and found a bill for $340.11.
The tank is still not connected, and I've had two technicians visit with nothing changed.
This is the worst customer service I have ever received from a company.
Claimed loss: Full tank of propane sitting just outside my house I can't use. Paying tank lease for over a year for unusable tank.
Desired outcome: I need to speak to someone who can help resolve the issue or arrange to pick up the tank and compensate me for the propane in it.

Self serve propane exchange tank dispenser
On 12/07/24 at 1207am i uses a cash card to purchase 2 exchange tanks in 2 transactions from dispensers at walmart in sevierville tn the first exchange with perfectly but the second exchange dispensed an empty tank which was also apparent with the lack of blue cap the exchanges have to veeify they are filled. The customer servive number is not available at the time of transaction and walmart closed after 11pm. So im stuck with just one tank for heat and/or im out almost $22 with current freezing temperatures at night.

Payment not resolved
I ordered a specific amount to be delivered to my propane. The driver filled up and put more than double my request. I complained to Amerigas and on January 25th they gave me a $100 credit. On February 8, 2024 I contracted their customer service who were less than helpful and would not give me a timeframe as to when the credit would be applied. I asked...

Good morning,
I would like to speak to someone who can actually assist me with my account. I have been trying to get service for my house since 11/21/23. I have been transferred, account has been closed no one can give me any correct information. I have been scheduled for service twice and only once has the technician come out. I had an appointment schedule back in December I received no call no email from Amerigas informing me that the technician was unable to fix my tank due to the part no coming in. My appt was never rescheduled no calls no emails nothing. I receive a letter in Feb showing no balance duh no balance owed. I received a voucher for energy assistance of 400. I called Amerigas numerous times this morning I spoke to 2 representatives who hung up on me . I then spoke to another representative who told me she was unable to assist with my account because it was showing my account was still closed. But I did call on Tuesday 2/20/24 and had my account reopened. The representative gave me a number to call to speak to sales at [protected]. The sales representative told me my account was active and provided me with my account number. She than transferred me to another representative who couldn’t assist me either. I have went all winter without service and every representative just apologizes but it seems like this issue is not being resolved or even taken seriously.
I am frustrated with this company and this has been a very bad experience.
Claimed loss: I was issued a voucher for assistance

Accounting issues with billing department
Our company Account [protected] issued a check and mailed from GA to CA. The check cleared our bank account December 5th but AmeriGas did not post to our gas account until the 8th per their "customer service" department. On 12/11/23 we received a letter that they had not received our payment. We thought that the check had been lost in the mail and as it is cold in Utah where our service site was we initiated an ACH payment to make sure that service was not interrupted. The ACH however did not go through due to an automatic limit set thru our bank. Their accounting department voided our check that had cleared instead of the ACH that was generated and applied NSF and late fees to us. We have reached out to them several times in the past couple of months trying to get this settled. Each time the person in customer service says they will transfer me to their supervisor and then they say they will escalate our case and put in notes to call us. Accounting did call once during our lunch hour and their call was missed. They left a message and the number to their customer service department. We have continued to pay our current bill, we sent copies of the cleared check to their customer care e-mail and left several messages with the customer service department who can do nothing to help but take a message and say they will put in for a follow up to the follow up when I put in a follow up call. They can not even transfer us to billing to talk to someone as this is clearly a billing issue not a service issue. They have since put us on delivery hold and did not deliver gas to us yesterday. We are hoping that it is due to the fact that yesterday was a holiday. We need someone to contact so that we may get this issue resolved and our account back in good standing.
Desired outcome: For someone in the accounting department to contact us and get this corrected.

Propane delivery
Today is 16 days since I requested a delivery of propane to to my home in Westcliffe, Colorado. For the past two and a half weeks, I have been lied to, ignored, and ripped off. On Feb 1, just like every other of the 10 plus conversations I have had with the call center in India I have requested a 24-48 hour heads up when the delivery was to take place because of the snowfall in the area. Since I never received the heads up, your contracted provider in the area went to my house finding my driveway inaccessible due to the snow. After the first notice of “undeliverable”, I had the driveway plowed; I was told the driver would be there in 24-48 hours. The driver did not show up in 24-48 hours, and it snowed quite a bit so when eventually they showed up I received the second “undeliverable” message, but no “heads up”.
This past Tuesday the 13th I was guaranteed by a supervisor in the call center that an emergency delivery would occur within 24 hours, so having a window of a couple of nice weather days (no snow) I had on Wednesday morning the driveway plowed againfor the third time. As of today the 17th, I have not received a delivery; the last liar told me he sees it scheduled for th 19th…and guess what, it snowing again as I type this email.
Every tim I have the driveway plowed, It cost between $150 and $250 (depending on how high the snow is, and how much of it is ice. When I first called for a delivery my tank was at just under 20%, when the man plowed the second time, he told me it was below 10%. If I run completely out, and there is no heat in my house, we will have broken pipes, and an even bigger problem.
I’m pretty sure this will be the last time I buy propane from Amerigas. I will also tell everybody I know about my experience, not to mention put it all over the internet and the Better Business Bureau

Case #8710849
To whom it may concern,
Near the end of Dec 2023 my property (located at 103799 S. 4225 loop Vian Oklahoma 74962) incurred damages by an Amerigas fuel truck. When the driver, (after filling the propane tank at 103711 S. 4525 loop Vian Ok. 74962) while attempting to back up, backed into my ditch & yard and was unable to free the vehicle. The driver was required to contact a wrecker. My property sustained damages from the occurrence, this totally re-routed the ditch and causing the water not to drain properly. I contacted customer service on several instances over the last few months to try to get the damages repaired, each time having been promised to someone from the local dept. would be contacting me with-in 48 hours. Each time no one has contacted me. I have requested that I be given the phone number of the local office, so to contact them myself, to which I was refused. I am reaching out once again hoping we can resolve this issue without involving the legal system. Please contact me at [protected] or my husband John at [protected] as quickly as possible. Thank you, Shelly Baker

The America’s delivery man backed into our handicap ramp and damaged it.
On December 26, we were at our residence when the delivery man delivered propane. Whe leaving the driver backed into our handicap ramp breaking a support post from the landing and breaking the railing. Driver was apologetic and indicated he called in to the company to make a report and that we should hear from an insurance adjuster that would come [censored] the damage. We waited two weeks. No follow up. I called the company and was on the phone for over an hour and was passed around to different technicians. The call was then dropped. Call number two lasted 30 minutes and I finally learned from a technician that the driver needed to submit a written report to start the process and this had not yet occurred. So we lost two weeks to learn nothing had happened to get some type of action. We were assured that the reports was made that day and we should hear from an insurance adjuster within 5 to 7 business days. Since that time on two other occasions I’ve spent nearly an hour each time trying to get someone to review the notes to determine progress, was given assurance that something was soon happen. It’s been over a month and two weeks and we’ve heard nothing.
Claimed loss: We have not repaired the deck so we are just now looking into a quote because we wrongly believed the company would follow through. We are expecting several hundred to repair.
Desired outcome: Our desire as been that the company would resolve covering cost for damages they did and that would communicate.

Propane - abandoned tank with 200+gallons of product
To whom it may concern,
I am writing this letter to request you take responsibility for the abandoned 1000 gallon propane tank you have left on my property since September 2022 when we cancelled our propane subscription with Amerigas due to lack of/poor local service. In addition, I have not been compensated for the 200+ gallons of product that remains in the abandoned tank.
I am very frustrated with the lack of response or responsibility shown by AMERIGAS for this situation as I have been requesting the tanks removal and compensation for the remaining product in the tank since September 2022 .
When I call and make a request I am told that there is an outstanding work order, but there is never any follow-up. I see Amerigas vehicles regularly delivering propane in our area, so am very frustrated that you are gladly servicing customers with propane, but unwilling to take responsibility for the 1000 gallon tank with 200+ gallons of propane abandoned on my property since September 2022.
If I do not receive a response and action to this letter within 60 days, I will consider the tank abandoned property and have it hauled off for scrap and send you the bill for your negligence in dealing with this situation.
Please be responsible for your propane service by picking up your abandoned 1000 gallon propane tank and compensating me for the remaining product in the tank as soon as possible as it has been over 16 months since you abandoned the tank and your responsibility to me as a former customer.

Amerigas delivery
With amerigas, they don't want you to order gas until your tank is 30% or less... So you watch it closely and when I got to about the 30% mark, I ordered and prepaid for 100 gallons - which would bring the tank to the 80% mark and you cannot have more than 80% in the tank due to expansion of gas, etc. So, I ordered ahead of the cold weather and the email from amerigas said it would be delivered in 7-10 days. In the meantime, the weather got below freezing and my gas was dwindling. The delivery date went and passed without any delivery. I called and called and only to get people in the philippines as an answering service - not customer service. Any # that you call goes there and it's hard to understand what anyone is saying. When I would talk to them, no one could tell me when the gas was going to be delivered - not even a window of time and they refused to call dispatch to get a schedule because they said they could not call anyone to find out! I eventually had to go without heat and use up all my firewood to keep at least one room in the house warm - and the gas is used in my home for heat, for cooking, for hot water... Etc. Something similar happened a year ago and so this year, I wanted to make sure that I ordered the gas ahead of any cold - but as you can tell, what good did it do. Last year, when the guy finally came out - he said that amerigas had been bought out and the way that they would make his route was all over the map, from north to south and then back north again - waste of time. It was much better when it was local! Last year, by the time he got here, I was down to 5% and so he filled it to capacity. This time, though, the guy must have come in the middle of the night and did not fill it to capacity but only filled it to 50%! What a waste of time because now he will have to come back again! So fed up with amerigas!
Claimed loss: LOSS of work due to not being able to work in the cold as I work from home.
Desired outcome: CREDIT ON ACCOUNT to fill up the rest of my tank to the 80% level !

Home propane tank
To Whom it may concern,
Hello, I Ida Adams am contacting you on the be half of a long term Customer Raby Rankin phone number [protected] unfortunately I do not have the account number on hand.
On January, 18th 2024 Raby Rankin my 87 year old grandfather at 11:15am called to inform me that he did not have any heat inside of his home. Not uncommon in freezing temperatures or the inside of a home to feel cooler than normal. On further investigation into his heating problem, we discover that his 250-propane tank is registering on the meter at 5% with the inside temperature at 50 degrees. This was a major problem considering this residence and account had already been scheduled for a delivery for January 15th, 2024 before the snow, ice, and extreme temperatures. You see where my frustrations are. We are understanding of weather conditions and did give some leeway on the late delivery. We then called the customer service line and the lady we spoke to advised it would be 1-2 days before we could get a delivery. The was just unacceptable, then this same lady advised there would be an extra $300 dollar charge for an expedited delivery even after the scheduled delivery was not completed. This was unacceptable. Raby Rankin the resident and account holder was refusing to leave home, said "I will stay here and freeze to death the funeral home will take me out." I then called the emergency hotline listed on the website, I was hung up on not only by 1 representative but 3 in total. On my 4th call i was able to get in touch with Angela a supposed manger/supervisor and this person gave me a guarantee of a delivery by the end of the day on January 18th, 2024 and this person was to call me as soon as a driver was enroute to the 612 Massengill Rd Blountville,TN 37617 residence. AT 2:00 pm (1400) I still had not received a phone call. My Husband and I then proceed to drive to the fill location in Johnson City, TN at this time i realize there isn't a public walk in office. I then waited for a transport unit to arrive at the facility to see if i could speak to a person about our situation. Here I was greeted by a driver on light duty as he called it explained what was needing to be done this person was Tim unfortunately I did not catch his last name. He was very professional and extremely helpful he allowed both my husband and I inside of the building then proceeded to make as many phone calls as needed. I am unsure of who he spoke to but this is when I learned that the 612 Massengill Rd address was not on the books for the next 2 days. After being guarantied a delivery by the end of day. Some other drivers had come to the facility and Tim introduced Tommy and Robert. These gentlemen were also very pleasant and understanding of my frustrations after explaining the situation. Noting less than exceptional. Tim had stayed on the phone trying to forulate a plan for my grandfather. From my understanding there was a lovey women by the name of Genny/Jenny that volunteered to take on a extra delivery to help us out. I did not meet her, but from what i was told by my Grandfather she was also very pleasant and professional. The ladies and Gentleman that are driving the road and performing the job are great I have no issue with them. I have issue that somewhere somebody dropped the preverbal ball and with freezing temperatures and a missed prescheduled delivery my Grandfather had to suffer. He is an 87 and in 2 weeks 88 year old United States disabled Army Veteran. He did not need all the unnecessary stress and emotional damages by this Company. In is email I do have certain expectations. First and foremost Time and Genny/Jeny deserve recognition for going above and beyond what was required of them. Secondary I expect this to never happen again to any account holders, and our situation should be taken care of. By however means you see fit whether is be a discounted rate for the fill or a full comp considering the emotional damages put forth on my family by this company. Not to mention the electric heaters that needed to the plugged in to get the residence temperature up to a habitual standard. At this time, we are considering a different company for all our propane services.
Regretfully,
Ida Adams

Bill!!!
Im being charged for a guy to come out and remove a lock on the gas, which should never have been put on in the first place, only reason, was because I was never called or notified that gas was on the way, which I told them atleast 5 times in the 9 days I was without gas and since I wasnt home, you locked it! They were well aware there was not a leak, just had to lock since I wasnt home! I had to call and request lock off so I could use gas! This is all after going without gas for 9 days, my entire home is gas and I have small kids in the home and pets! Im being charged $500 for something I should not be! I have also written a formal complaint to the agriculture/ consumer protection as well! I feel im being billed as a scam! Even the guy who came to unlock was well aware of the issue and said other clients were suggesting the same!
Claimed loss: $450 for hotel room, since a baby in the home, needed heat and hot water and cook in the home!!!!
Desired outcome: I want this Bill for $500 removed, im falsly being charged!!! and I want gas on auto deliver

Pre-buy contract price not being honored.
I'm having the exact issue as GK posted in December. I signed up for the AmeriGas Pre-Buy program that was offered ($2.589) and paid for 500 gallons. My first delivery was charged at a much higher rate of $3.159. All I've been able to get from the customer "support" agents is the same "contract is pending" wording.
The three most basic requirements of a contract are (1) an offer is made, (2) offer is accepted, and (3) consideration is paid. AmeriGas is violating their contracts, and evidently this is not an isolated case.
Desired outcome: Honor your contracts, and charge the rate that was pre-paid under the contract.

Amerigas Service and filling
Our propane tank was just recently filled by Amerigas 12/11/23. Their billing said that 91.4 gallons was filled in a 120 gallon tank. What is weird is that the propane tank is only used for a fireplace and a generator that runs 5 minutes every other week. The Amerigas employee said the gauge was wrong at the last fill-up in 2/2023 and was over 65% full, Amerigas sent out a tech a month or so later to replace the gauge but couldn't and a few months later put in a wireless router. Now how can two people use up so much propane in 10 months through the summer and mild winter so far. There is no leak to the tank. I called to ask that question and the customer service person hung up on me. I think this is price gouging to inflate the amount filled.
Desired outcome: I don't think even half was really filled as the invoice claims.

I had exactly the same issue. The invoice show 100gl were delivered, and the gauge is only showing 50gl or so. Truck driver said I'd need to wait a couple of days until the gauge updates. Today, gauge is showing even lower percentage.
Call center is a disaster when you try to address that over the phone!
Price lock and delivery
I signed up for a price lock in July at $1.99/gallon. I gave them my money and thought all was fine until I ordered in September. Following that delivery, they told me that my price lock was still pending and I would need to pay market price. We were finally able to find some sort of resolution as they offered me the $1.99/gallon price for that delivery with a price lock offer of $2.55/gallon lock for future deliveries through May 31, 2024. However, I just placed another full order and they are charging me $2.88/gallon (market price). In addition, it has been over a week since I ordered the refill (which was promised by 12/18, and it has not arrived yet. As a result, my tank will be below 20% and I fear they will require me to have a pressure test. I am unable to speak with anyone who can help me. They either hang up, “lose” my call, or pass me around until I can’t take it any longer. It is well into winter and they have me over a barrel. I can’t go anywhere else and get a lock at this point, and even if I changed companies, I need tge tank changed out and the ground is frozen until spring. Please help!
Claimed loss: Money paid for price lock at $1.99/gallon
Desired outcome: I would settle for a price lock at $1.99/gallon or coverage of my costs to switch providers and refund of my remaining balance.
