I keep receiving (so as my husband) a call from All State from this certain number 630-541-2036 and I happen to pick up the call by mistake and the agent asked me right away of my email is still the same so he can send a quote for car insurance. Two days after or so, my bank account was charged for $490.00.
To cut it short, this guy called again my husband's phone, and my husband finally picked up his annoying phone calls, informed the agent that we are very disappointed for a debit charge in my checking account after the agent emailed me a car insurance quote, and that we reported it as fraud. Sure enough, they had a reason to cover up their fraudulent charges.
I used to be an Allstate customer and recently stopped their services in October of 2024 since I sold my condo in Aurora, IL. I was told that they automatically charged me for non-payment as they were never informed of my condo cancellation and my payment for them was automated.
Wrong!
First of all - I don't pay my condo insurance via automated payment. I write check every year as I renew since I photocopy my check issued for the purpose of my condo taxation.
Second, my insurance payment last year was paid with my check# 5044 on September 19, 2024 with the amount of $242, and notified them of my cancellation via a phone call in October after I sold the condo which in fact, I was waiting for a refund since I did not finish the whole year.
Third, Allstate will send you a copy of the policy for the upcoming renewal and if you fail to take care of it, they won's stop calling you until you do so.
Fourth, telling me that they charged the $490 for non payment since last year. Go figure how.
Allstate claims however, it was never about the quote of car insurance they emailed, but its about the two year of non-payment for the condo insurance, last year and this year's since they apparently continue to claim that I never cancelled them.
And this is the kicker, it was just so easy for them to tell me that everything will be okay, nothing will be billed or charged as long as I say, "cancel it now" and it will resolve the problem.
See how tricky they can be, how they can easily "twist" the incident to make it appear, that after all, it's the customer's fault.
They can say whatever they want about my previous account, but they can no longer gain my trust and referral to others. This experience of mine will serve as a reminder to not trust Allstate at all!
Recommendation: Keep all the records of conversation with Allstate agents, better yet, an email of confirmation about any cancellation. And don't entertain any calls from Allstate if you are already under a different insurance.
