Today i received a recruiting phone call from ail, also going by american income life insurance saying they were responding to my submission of a resume to them, which took me off guard because i actually had submitted my resume to many different places and was not sure of all the jobs i had submitted for. So eager to find a job with a layoff 4 weeks away, and this being my first call back about an interview so far, i continued the conversation. It struck me as extremely strange how quickly the "hr rep" said his company's name and his own and moved right on to asking me a couple of "preliminary interview" questions about a supposid management position for this new office they had in central pa. I found it to be extremely weird that he was at all pleased about my rushed, taken off guard - type answers i gave him, and how quickley he said "great, we'd like to have a sit down interview with you tomorrow at 10:20 am". Eitherway i agreed, and came back to my desk in which i explained to my fellow co - worker what had happened, and he let me know that it was an insurance sales scam that he had gone through 9 years ago, and his story was exactly the same as all the other complaints you will read on this page. Also, some things to consider about positions like this are door to door sales jobs in which you are an independent contractor, meaning ail does not have to pay you benefits, and also that anythign they will pay you in the first year will be taken out of any income you produce on your own. I. E. You make nothing. All of the people i see on here defending the company are obviously working for the company to do just that, try to dispell the truths about the company on blog pages like this. If you are a salesman with this company and you actually think you are going to rake in the money and retire at 40 as i saw one person write. . . I would say that maybe you should comment on your status after you have been with the company for more than 2 months. . . "they sold you and you just haven't realized it yet!" these guys are wolves in sheeps clothing. I concluded my 1 / 2 hour long experience with this outfit by calling back the # provided to me to reference if i had any questions (Which of course went to a generic voicemail with no prompts) and let them know to lose my number and resume and that i didn't appreciate the phone call or misleading approach they took. I pray that someone responds to my voicemail by actually calling back so i can really sound off.

This is also going on in Ohio. I received 2 phone calls on 2 different days. The first day the guy called me and we did a phone interview. He said his name and the companies name-and I didn't quite catch it because he spoke so fast so I asked him to repeat it. Still couldn't make out his name but the company he said was "Surace Corporate Office". He said that I could be making 50 to 65 grand a yr.My eyes widened. I didn't think I answered the questions right. But he said he would give the info to his boss. There was a # on the caller ID so I saved it. The next day a lady called me from AIL Ohio, to set up an interview in the same city as the other place was. She said it was a customer service job. They had got my resume off a career website. I was really excited since I have been out of a Job since January, but I had questions and googled AIL and seen all the scams, and also the phone number from the day before was the same number to the place where I was going for the interview. Needless to say, I didn't show up for the interview and never called the. My question is, since this has been going on for yrs to people has anyone contacted the better business bureau on the?

Same thing here... was called by a "Lisa" at AIL in 720 Lisburn Road, Camp Hill, PA about a job working with Labor Unions benefits. I have a resume on Career Builders, which they stated I had applied to their position there. I'm so glad I read this scam-board before I followed through with an appointment. Thanks everyone! I also will NOT be going to this company for any reason.

Amazing! I have read page after page after page and each story is nearly exactly the same for over 3 years now. And to think I was good enough for a 3rd interview. LOL. I may go to the interview just to preach to the man at AIL that played the Jesus card on me. I'm a christian and he may be too, but i've been suckered by Christians before. If you want to consider a real company and one I spent WEEKS researching, try North American Power. go to www.napower.biz/153594. Forbes Magazine recognized them as #57 most promising company in 2011 and they are exploding!

I got a caqll today...same address, different phone number and same thing as all these other complaints...I came online to research the company and thank God I did, as I'd scheduled a 9:30 am interview for Thursday...yah what a waste of time that would have been! And I'd even said to the lady on the phone that if it was commision based or sales based, or direct sales, etc...that I would NOT be interested and that it would be a waste of both our time. She assured me I was what they were looking for and that they had a management job for me, which I would expect since I do have an huge ammount of management experience on lot's of different levels and all based in sales and customer service...so that didn't strike me as odd at all...what was throwing me was how when I spoke to her about my requirements she tip toed around and talked in circles...I'd even told her how months ago someone tried to recruit me for insurance sales/commision based and it was in fact when I researched it a sub-division of them...lol...OMG! People are so sick when it comes to this economy and the job/insurance/lending areas...I'm tempted at this point to run for office myself to make things like this illegal!

Wow, I am shocked at how many complaints there are out here on not one but two sites as soon as you google 702 Lisburn Road! I was actually preparing for the interview and came to google directions and WWOOOOOHHHHH! I will NOT BE ATTENDING THIS INTERVIEW. I can see it will a complete waste of my time. I should have known because Scott Smith called me and you could tell that he was reading from a script because he asked a question and I had no idea what said and responded, "I'm sorry I didn't hear you." he said "great with that said... we would like to bring you in for an interview." I was thinking to myself that he must be having a bad day because he was totally disengaged. I thought to attend the interview and be surprised if was something other than the Marketing Job I thought it was - But Wow! This is way too many complaints over many years! Oh and to update the number I was given [protected].

Thanks to all of you for this complaint site, After reading this me and my boyfriend have come discovers that he WILL NOT be attending his interview he has on Thursday at 10:30. He received a call today from a Leah a HR Manager from AIL saying they found his Resume on career builder and they were interested in him working for them. He has no experience in management at all so how the Hell does he qualify for this job.. We were curious as to what this company was so we googled it to our surprise we found nothing but complaint sites about them.. How are they getting away with this? Looks like its been going on for years its absolutely disgusting that they are still doing this.. It blows my mind that no one has STOPPED them yet.. Thank you so much all this site was very helpful...

Every time I go on here and see all these negative comments it makes me laugh. What this really boils down to is that all of you people are scared and pussies! If this were a scam don't you think that the company would be shut down? Here's an idea deadbeats. Get your lazy ### off the computer and go to the interview. Most of the people that blog here are ex agents who could'nt hack it. Which is ok not everybody is a salesman. However you should really reevaluate yourself because you just sold a bunch of other people out of an opportunity that really is unlimited. I'm gonna end by saying if everyone jumped off a bridge would you? It seems as though you have

Wow! A few minutes ago I received a call from Ryan at AIL in Camphill, PA on Lisburn Road. He pulled my resume off of the Career Builder's site where I have it posted. I've received numerous responses from insurance companies via email, which I do find a little annoying since I am CLEARLY looking for a position as a classroom teacher. Nonetheless, Ryan was very professional and asked a few seemingly pertinent questions. He did explain that AIL handles the benefits packages for labor unions across the country, and they are rapidly expanding. I too am very much in need of employment, so I hesitantly made the appointment for tomorrow morning. Thanks to these six pages of mostly negative blogs, I plan to cancel.

I keep getting calls from [protected]. They call me at least once a week. They got my info after I posted my resume on careerbuilder. I knew it was a scam right off because this happened to me several years ago. Another reason I knew it was a scam is that I am a healthcare provider, so why would someone want to hire me for office work? My name has some very significant credentials behind it which if someone were to actually read the resume would see right off that I'm not at all the person for this job. It's frustrating to no end and I would love to know how to make the phone calls stop.

Thanks to all of you for the posts about this scam, it saved me time. I received a call yesterday from [protected], but I didn't realize it until last night because I had left my cell phone in my bedroom with the ringer off so I never heard the call come in and only realized it did come in later that evening when I saw that I had a voicemail message. When I listened to the message it was this bizarre electronic voice telling me they liked my resume' and would like to schedule an appointment to meet this week for an interview. I was suspicious right away because, even though I do have my resume' out there with some companies, who the heck leaves a computerized message that doesn't even mention their company name for people they are allegedly interested in for a job? No one does. Like another poster mentioned, my call came a day after also being solicited by a commission based door-to-door sales company named Elle Communications here in Oklahoma City who never told me during their initial call that they were commission or door-to-door. They too had quickly offered me an interview after seeing my resume' on CareerBuilder.com, but a quick online look into them had me cancelling my interview hours before I was supposed to show up. I guess the moral of the story is that even if you are desperate for a job in these hard times do your homework on who is calling you back, before they waste your time, so you have more time available for real employers who may call you. Good luck everyone!

I got a similar call this morning. It was for an Atco office. A guy named Kevin called me asked me a few questions about if I had leadership experience and I said no but want to set me up for an interview anyway. He also gave me his personal cell phone number which tiped me off as being very odd. Im glad that I googled this because I didnt want to be sucked into a scam.

I just recieved a call from "Matt" and it went the same as the above complaints. He sped thru the name of the company and I had to ask him to repeat it twice. I am supposed to go to an "interview" on Thursday in Ebco Park in Erie, Pa at 10:00am (2333 Ebco Dr. Suite 320). I also got an email from a Roger Smith . Thats is what tipped me off to do an internet search which lead me to this site, I have been applying to jobs left and right and to finally get a response was encouraging. Deffinatly not going to show up for that interview. Thanks for the heads up everyone!

I just got a call from the same place but the number was [protected]. I knew this was a scam right away because I had already been to a company similar called Elle Communications here in Oklahoma City. It's just like a pyramid scheme. They said they only had 1 position open but there was 10 of us in line to interview. She called us all back for round 2 interviews which was pointless. Then tried to feed us a bunch of BS trying to make commission sound like a good investment. They take advantage of people looking for a job! So annoying!

I got a call from an "Ashley" with the one in CampHill(Liburn Road). It was weird because she blew past all my questions and asked the most basic of interview questions. She seemed hurried so i just blew it off and book an interview. I googled the company name and saw that there was a scam behind it. I am looking for a job and I think it's screwed up that people will do anything to screw other people over. Needless to say I am def canceling:D

I agree with all the posting re: AIL. It is all true. I used to work there. I hope that the Hoover vs. AIL results in Hoover decision. I regret that I trusted people there. but i do not regret my decision to work there and then leave there. I have finally believed that people can be very bad. At AIL they are the worst they can be. That is my opinion and my experience. Others like Garychambers had a good experience. So, in general, I believe that experience is subjective but the truth is that there are so many bad experiences, it makes you wonder.

I also received calls and emails from reps recruiting for AIL. I was curious to say the least and had made one appointment in which I could not make, since then I have been contacted again at least 3 or 4 times either via email or phone call. I did make an appointment for Thursday but something kept niggling at me so I, like you all, did some research and I am very glad that I did. Needless to say I will not be going to this "interview". It is sad that this is the reality of the world we live in! I pray that no one falls prey to this scam just because they are desperate for work. I thank all of you that took the time to educate me and others like me who may have fallen victim to this "marketing game". God bless all of you who are still looking for a job!

I have an idea: We should ALL schedule interviews with them and not show up. And waste their ^%%$ing time. How do these people sleep at night?!?!? It is hard enough to find a job and then you have to worry about this crap, too?!?

I was so impressed by their mission / vision statements, plus reading the background story of it's founder, Bernard Rapoport that I thought I finally found a great job that works for good causes.

But I felt I need to dig deeper...I'm glad I listened to that inner voice in me otherwise I wouldn't have found this blog ...this saved me time, effort, and gas money just to be scammed... This world is full of deception indeed...
Thanks for all your posts! I'm glad to have been warned. Good luck to all of us in finding new jobs...

My husband received the same call offering him a job as a manager, I sugested to him to find out more about the company because he is in the roofing field and thanks to all of you for your postings because it was going to be a waste of working time for him, also gas because we live pretty far from Camp Hill. Also be aware there is another insurance company in Lancaster, PA that do the same thing I went thru that scam.

I too got a call and even stated on the phone that I was surprised they came across my resume. I live in Nashville, TN and while it seems that all the other comments are from PA, it was the same odd call that was quick to change the time of my interview when I was not able to make it. I had looked at BBB and there was nothing, but I wanted to see if there were other job postings for this company and in looking, found this site...thank goodness. The one 'positive' post is from someone (alittlemoreinformed) that in one comment says they looked up the company, they are the 'parent' company, so do your research as they did before deciding...they are going on the interview to help pay OUR unemployment. In another comment, the same person states their husband works for the company and she can be a stay-at-home mom...now I am the one that is 'a little more informed'. SCAM for sure!

I got a call today at 8:00 o'clock in the morning from a "Stormy Norman" -ridiculous name, by the way.

Here's the voicemail she left me:

"Hi. Lindsey. My name is Strormy Norman. I'm calling from the Human Resourse department of AIL, and the reason for my call is to let you know that my managers had, um, pulled your resume offline and thought that you met qualifications to continue on with our process. So, if you're still looking for full-time employment, Lindsey, give me a call back. My phone number here is [protected]. Again, my name is Stormy Norman, and I look forward to speaking with you. Have a good day."

I, too, sent my resume to many companies, so I Google searched AIL in hopes of remembering exactly what job I had applied for.

I'm DEFINITELY not going to call back to schedule an interview, but I might call back to give them a piece of my mind! It's just plain wrong to get people's hopes up like that. I have a son to support, and I don't have time to waste on scammers like them.

Thanks to everyone who posted! You're all life savers. :)

There was a management position posted on CraigsList that claimed an entry level salary of 60, 000-80, 000. I was skeptical considering they didn't post a company name or mention a website. As a soon-to-be college grad, I am searching diligently for a an entry level position where I can begin my career. I have waded through my fair share of job scams thus far, and this one has all the red flags. I received a call back a few days later and the human resources manager left her name and number. I called A.S.A.P from work and she immediately began asking me some very rudimentary interview questions. After I explained that I was about to graduate with degrees in business and economics with a minor in international business, she invited me in for an interview for either Thursday or Tuesday morning. Admittedly, I was thrilled and immediately began to call friends and family. Though, as an after-thought I though it was strange thst she didn't ask me to research their company before coming in. Every substantial interview that I have had previously asked me to come in equipped with information about their company and to be prepared to answer questions about their business. There is no way a job offering 60-80 thousand in this economy wouldn't be more selective. So I googled the address, 1251 N plum Grove Suite 130 Schaumburg, and I found this blog site but no official website for the company. These scammers didn't even put forth the effort to snag a domain name and build a cheap website. Thank you for this blog post, you just saved me a lot of time and trouble. I was about to skip class and come into work late so I could go interview with these ###.

Been receiving phone calls from [protected]. I never picked up and the caller never left a voicemail. Today, I received the email below. I never contacted them regarding a management position or any position. I googled AIL and saw the information about possible employment scams.

Well it looks like they have moved into Utah. I was given the name of The Lawrence Group with whom I had applied. After I return their call and left a voice mail at [protected] I wen to the internet as the voice mail stated AIL as the company name. I found this website three minutes prior to a call back in which they again portrayed themselves as The Lawrence Group. I went ahead an listened, set up the interview for tomorrow, got the address, and then asked questions about who they really are. After my conversation I contacted The Lawrence Group who told me that I was the third call today asking the same questions. However, I was the only one with all the contact information and I hope they go after them. I also have my resume on CareerBuilder.com and mine clearly states that I am interested in a Human Resource Management Position. Thank you for this information as it saved my time and money!

Yea welcome to careerbuilder, a safe haven for spammers, phishers, and things that live under rocks. This is just one of many Insurance sales scams I've received since signing up two weeks ago. Ahh for the good old days when newspapers posted ads, at least they verified their subscribers. I think if you all check, careerbuilder is the common denominator.

Thank you all for posting! I just got a phone call from "Jane" at AIL. She asked me to come in for an interview tomorrow morning at 10:15am (Thursday, 3/3/2011), bring a copy of my resume, and dress in business attire. She also provided me the website about the company, www.ail-greer.com. I was a little put off with the constant "um...um..." during the brief conversation. After hanging up, I went to the website and as soon as I saw insurace I googled it, that's when I came across this website.
