Refused claim
Claim with AIA paid from January to May 2013 for wage continuance / income protection. AIA requested letter from specialist without my knowledge and closed claim as letter advised diagnosis of IBS and capability to return to work. Have since obtained second opinions from psychiatrist and gastroenterologist, both stating diagnosis of IBS is incorrect and confirns inability to return to work. Both have diagnosed depression and medication is being trialed. Also awaiting referral to neurologist. AIA still refuse to reopen claim. AIA have contacted psychiatrist and counsellor without my consent, and require to obtain my autborisation for this. AIA have not contacted me directly since September 2013. Financial Ombudsman has been involved for 4 months and will be referring complaint to court with lawyer if Ombudsman is not successful. Have not received benefits for 7 months. Facing serious financial hardship and situation is not assisting with my medical condition.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
