Subject: Formal Complaint and Request for Immediate Refund of Unauthorized Charge ($1,116.00)
To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to formally dispute and request an immediate refund for an unauthorized charge of $1,116.00 that Wix debited from my account on December 14. At no point did I authorize this renewal, nor have I ever paid an amount anywhere near this in my entire history with Wix.
At the time of the charge, I was unable to access my Wix account due to the two‑step verification being linked to an old phone number. Because of this, I had no ability to review, approve, or decline any renewal. Despite this, Wix processed a charge of over a thousand dollars without my authorization.
After discovering the charge, I immediately filed a dispute with PayPal. Wix responded to PayPal claiming that I had authorized the payment, which is completely false. I also contacted Wix directly and spoke with a representative, informing her that the charge was unauthorized and requesting that the website be shut down and the payment refunded. Instead of issuing a refund, she only removed the auto‑renewal and instructed me to “let Wix handle it” rather than allowing PayPal to resolve the dispute. Following this, PayPal closed the case in Wix’s favor, leaving me financially responsible for a charge I never approved.
Wix has stated that there is a 14‑day refund policy, yet I was locked out of my account and therefore unable to take any action within that timeframe. I have since filed an appeal because the decision made was unjust and did not take into account the fact that I had no access to the account at the time of renewal.
This unauthorized charge has caused significant financial hardship, including insufficient funds fees, late fees on other accounts, and nearly causing my insurance to lapse. It has also prevented me from being able to make necessary payments through my PayPal account. This situation has been extremely stressful and entirely avoidable had proper authorization procedures been followed.
Given the circumstances, I am requesting the full refund of $1,116.00 without further delay. My payment history clearly shows that I have never paid such an excessive amount, and the charge was processed without my consent or access to my account.
I expect a prompt resolution to this matter. Please confirm receipt of this complaint and provide a timeline for when I can expect the refund to be issued.
