Greetings all
Ive been a long time 3 line cell customer of T-Mobile. It hasn't always been great service, but I liked their customer service and simple billing plans that were the first to include all fees and taxes in the monthly per line cost, so you had no surprises which the other big cell companies now have joined up to copy. Recently there was an outage, and my Wi-Fi calling wasn't working. I went online to my account to see if there were notices of an outage as the call center, I was on hold with customer service which still had not picked up. While there and checking my recent activity I saw a item saying my new account was activated on July 25th at 12am. What new account? Something called Experience Signature w/55+ Savings. Oh no! was I hacked? I could find no other information on the account online. I waited for customer service. It turns out there was a nationwide outage on East coast and Midwest which had affected the Wi-Fi calling abilities. (Where I live in rural setting there is no actual cell service, so Wi fi calling is essential for me.) Ok Answer 1. It was being worked on.
As to the transition onto a new account plan, it turns out I didn't make the choice. Instead, T-Mobile was ending the longtime 55+plan and pushing customers onto the new plan with new terms and oh yes, it was more expensive. Remembering it was just about a year or so ago when T-Mobile sent out notices they were "reluctantly raising the line prices $5. When I reached the customer service rep and asked what was going on he explained no I had not been hacked, and no I had not made the choice for a new plan. When I asked why there was no notice, he said they had sent out notices via their marketing blasts, but because my marketing blasts were switched off, I had not seen anything. This is my chief complaint. A new plan and terms and the higher monthly bill is not a marketing blast. I certainly receive my billing statements and auto pay notifications. It smells to me of a back handed rate hike that they could cover up in glitter and perks under "marketing instead of a true notification to affected customers...Oh gee free Netflix or 7 eleven Slurpee in the Tuesday perks, but don't look at your new bill...My satisfaction and trust level with T-Mobile is in the dumper. Yes, I certainly understand everything is costing more, (especially as a retiree on SS.) I am aware of rising costs and that things such as price plans. But I do not respect the way T-Mobile is now doing business, and their lack of respect for longtime paying customers.
Recommendation: Shop around and compare. I will be doing that now and looking at what is available and affordable. I can no longer be a complaisant trusting customer
