Shoprite Checkers review: Service, manager Lindsay Meyer was rude and unhelpful.

To Whom It May Concern,

I, Veronique Smith, was shopping at Checkers, The Junction Strand on the 03/02/2026, between 18:00 and 19:00. I did not initially intend to purchase coffee; however, while walking down the aisle, I noticed a promotional price that I found to be an excellent offer. I was sufficiently impressed that I took a photograph of the shelf price.

When I reached the till, the price charged did not match the price displayed on the shelf. The cashier went to investigate and subsequently called the manager. Upon inspection, they confirmed that the shelf price was incorrect.

When the manager Lindsay Meyer approached me, I explained that I was charged a different amount than what was displayed. While the situation itself could have been resolved with a simple apology for the inconvenience and acknowledgment of the store’s error, the manager instead implied that I had not read, or had read the pricing incorrectly. This comment was insulting and unprofessional. I am deeply disappointed by the manager’s attitude and the manner in which the situation was handled.

As a customer, I rely on the accuracy of shelf pricing. Customers are naturally drawn to promotions and specials, and it is the store’s responsibility to ensure that items are correctly priced and displayed. Incorrect pricing should not be attributed to customer error, particularly in a dismissive or disrespectful manner.

I would appreciate a formal apology from the manager for his conduct, as well as the opportunity to purchase the coffee at the price that was displayed on the shelf.
