Shoppers Drug Mart review: Return policy for christmas gift

I went to return a Christmas gift I received, “Infiniti Pro Conair Curl Secret” but was told it was not refundable as I had opened the box.

I only opened it to read the information and how to use it. The product was not used in any way.

The person who gifted the item to me was not told or aware of this policy either.

I am disheartened, as we are a small community and are privileged to shop local. Learning about your policy for this product, seems inappropriate, as it was a Christmas gift and the person paid a considerable amount. $150

I would like to receive a full refund or credit at the most, as I do shop at this location
