To whoever is listening: I called 6 weeks ago and made an appointment for the first pick-up date available, today Wednesday, July 30, 2025. I made sure that everything being donated is in pristine condition and useful: appliances new or lightly used, new shoes, quality clothing, kitchen and office items, school supplies.
I packed all of it with care into transparent 33 gallon 2 ml garbage bags to make it easier for your people to carry and make it clear that i am not unloading my trash on the Salvation Army.
I called yesterday, Tuesday, July 29th, to confirm the appointment and was assured that it was in place. By 6:30am this morning, I finished stacking the bags in the hallway outside my apartment for pick-up. This took a great deal of effort as I am 79 years old with an injured hip from a car accident. However, it was satisfying to have it done.
Imagine my panic and anger this morning when I got a call from you all telling me that there was no driver available and that the next available appointment is September 23rd! He stated that they have been fully scheduled for several weeks. Well, yes. I am one of those people who scheduled 6 weeks ago. Why am I not at the top of the list for pick-up by the drivers who are working? What do I do with 8 full bags for which I have no room in my apartment? What are my options at this moment? The garbage? The man who called had no suggestions and just wanted to get off the phone.
This situation is infuriating and unacceptable. What happened to the reliability of your organization?
So angry.
Recommendation: I don't know what they do at this point, but do not rely on the Salvation Army.
He wanted to get off the phone because you were angry. No one wants to deal with anger.
