This store is very wrong for termination on of the best employees, that had been there for more then 2 years, I had been a customer
for about 5 years, when I went into the store other day, I asked what happened to that beautiful young black girl that use to work
here and some young guy, with two colors in his hair, burst out and stated she was terminated first of all that is not what he should of
stated, and that is against the company policy, that is the kind of people that does not need to be working, I am going on all web site

Sally Beauty Supply underwhelming customer service

I like to start off by saying; we are frequent shoppers of Sally Beauty Supply for years. However, I am thoroughly underwhelmed with the customer service we received tonight at your Exton location Store #00500. Upon entering the store, there was no one present. We stood in the front for quite some time. We could hear people laughing however did not see anyone. While shopping through the isles, we were never approached or greeted. It took time to find what we needed being as though we don't shop at this location often. Someone else came in the store because we heard the bell that goes off letting you know someone has entered and she as well was not acknowledged. Finally we found what we needed and headed to the front of the store. The two associates were closer to the register but still proceeded with their personal conversation. At this time we were at the register and they continue to have their conversation. We said, "Sorry for interrupting your conversation but we would like to get rung up". The associate (Tiffany) with orangey blonde straight extensions rolled her eyes and proceeded to ring up and yet still has not greeted us or asked if we found what we needed. The other associate was just lounging on the side of the counter giggling. At that moment I asked Tiffany if a manager was present and her response was "Huh" then I repeated myself and she just said "No" then I asked her managers name, her response once again was "Huh'' then after repeating myself once again, she just said "Melissa". I asked for her number and she said she didn't have it, which I found hard to believe so I said, "You have no number for your manager?" then she said, "Oh... it's in the back". I asked her if she could get it and she asked the other associate are they allowed to give it out. After that interaction it finalized why I needed to contact you about the poor display of customer service. I myself and who was with me are both Store Managers and we know how important customer service is in this industry. As you know poor customer service can ruin valuable business and a company’s reputation.

Those associates really need to be retrained on: greeting guest, discovering needs by asking open ended questions, offering solutions, recommending systems, telling what’s new, offering specials or promotions that are going on in your store, close the sale, offer store card or ask if already have one, Finally give a sincere thank you and invite client back. Most importantly the guest needs to feel welcomed and leave with a great experience.

I will be in touch with the store manager to follow up with this underwhelming experience. I sincerely hope some type of displinary action will be given to both associates. I believe if it happened to us, then how many more customers will be displeased as well the amount of money you are losing. I definitely would recommend watching the tape of their shifts and create an action plan. I truly hope this is a wake-up call for store #00500 because we will not be returning.

Sally Beauty Supply in store injury

These people literally didn't care that I was burned due to their direct incompetence and refused to even let me wash my burned hand. I had to run to another store for help, file a police report, and see a doctor for treatment. I was injured because of their employee and received nothing but an arrogant attitude. They lied and lied. This isn't over. I've found there are businesses that appreciate their customers and those that don't. Word of mouth goes a long way in the retail industry. If you want my advice, stay away from sally's. I'm out time and money... Never again!

Shirley of store 1155 has such a bad attitude that my friend and almost walked out. As were looking round she watched us as if we were thugs and we are both 55 years old. Went to the other sales girl and she was awesome but I forgot to get her name. This was around 4:30 on July 24th. I will not go back to that store. Shirley then sat on the floor while the great sales girl waited on us and 4 other young girls. Shirley shouldn't be a manager in my opinion. Horrible attitude and rude, I'm not a thug and I don't shop lift. OMG get rid of her.

Sally Beauty Supply uneducated staff

I used to shop at Sally's all the time. Even when we didn't have a store in my city I'd order online. We got a store in Medicine Hat. The sales associate knew nothing about hair. I tried to dye my blonde hair brown, and the girl sold me hair color with no developer. So what ended up happening was, it blew my cuticles wide open and thus wrecking my hair and my brand new 20 inch extension. My hair started breaking off halfway down the strand, and some even falling out at the roots. I had to cut off the majority of my hair and buy a partial wig. I contacted their customer service and all they said basically was that they were going to contact their manager. I sent my sister into the store about a month later to talk to the same woman, and the sales associate suggested the same product. I contacted the Sally's contact centre again, and they told me the same thing but this time offered me 20% off.  This whole experience  cost me around $525.. I'm sorry but 20% off isn't going to help my hair grow back, or get the money I've spent back. I used to buy lots of products from Sally's.. Needless to say, I don't anymore. The sales associate actually turned out to be the manager of the Sally's beauty supply store in medicine hat Alberta Canada. I'm not sure how to spell her name but her name Lorraine Rabbie. She needs to educate herself before she ruins more people's hair.

The sales associate read the instructions and told me that's all I needed, she even said how long to leave it on for. I'm not a stupid person, I figured the sales associate would know what she was talking about especially when she even read the package. She was fully aware that I did not have developer. You can make up as many scenarios as you want, it won't make my hair grow back any faster, and it's not going to make the Sally's staff anymore informed.  I have spent the money going to a salon as well. Coloring my hair BROWN shouldn't have led to such a horrible experience. I've been to a salon, I've spent the money. I was blonde for a long time, so obviously you have to spend the money to make it look nice. Coloring my hair brown should have been very easy, but it wasn't considering what happened. I voiced this incident so it wouldn't happen to others because I already know quite a few other people that have had similar in store experiences.  You can disagree with me til you're blue in the face, it doesn't change my horrible in store experience

This store seems to be a joke anymore. There are children always
hanging around and you have people hanging all out front of this
storefront. Can someone find out what is going on here? Customer
service is POOR!

First off, this story (and I say story because it is far from fact) is completely implausible. Color with no developer would do NOTHING to your hair except maybe stain it, the developer is the activator, it is what makes the color 'work' in simple terms. So, there is no way this caused you hair to break and fall out at the root, even bleach with 40 volume developer would take a significant amount of time past normal processing time in order to do damage to normal healthy hair. I know this, as I am a licenced hair stylist.
It sounds to me like you and the other person who commented (Chelsea) on this thread have something personal against this women, otherwise how would you know her last name, that is not something a staff member would or should give out to the public. In regards to Chelsea’s comment - Shocking that you would go in to the store when they are receiving stock and there would be boxes; you are an observant one huh?
To both of you, I would like to inform you of the two definitions, the first being - SLANDER: a malicious, false, and defamatory statement or report. (It’s a fancy legal term for lie.) The other is - TROLL: general Internet consensus defines a troll a 'one who makes comments simply to get a rise or cause conflict. This complaint and certain comments following, fall under both of these, so trolls go why not just go back under your bridge and let a new store and new staff have some time to learn and find the right people. Staffing is an issue that most businesses/managers in Medicine Hat have to deal, so I am sure this women has faced challenges in this area. Although, everytime I have been there the staff have been polite, freindly and helpful, so maybe the problem is with the trolls and not the manager and staff.

You wouldn't walk into a doctors office and know exactly what you need, because youve done your research on how chemicals effect your brain. Or into home depot for flooring without needing a sales associate to help you pick out everything you need. To sell a product you should know about the product, otherwise how are you going to sell it? I'm Guessing the people who disagree with you (the previous comments) are Sally's staff members or know someone that works there. If half my hair got fried off I'd be mad too. I was actually in Sally's the other day and they ignored me, I waited in line for 15 minutes to pay for my items and the girl decided to receive the stock and answer the phone before she helped the 4 customers waiting in line. Every time I go into the medicine hat Sally's, there are always boxes everywhere and staff that ignores me. I agree the staff is very ill informed, even the manager Lorraine Rabbe has no idea what she is talking about. And to whom made the complaint, I agree with you. And if it was your responsibility to know everything about the products, you would be working there, or you would have went to hair school. Dying your hair from blonde to brown, should have been simple. It's a little ridiculous they couldn't help you out. I hope your hair grows out and don't shop there anymore.

You need to do your research before dying your hair...especially if you just had extensions put in. Even people with salon experience don't always recommend the right products and Sally's is nothing but a store. You're not going to get salon professionals in there. Just like you wouldn't ask someone who works at Wal*Mart which foundation would be good for your skin or something.

Also, always read the instructions. All dyes state whether or not they require a developer, how much, etc. Perhaps the girl working there didn't know that you didn't have developer? After all, their products do state on the label that they should be used by professionals only.

They shouldn't be giving advice if they don't know anything about the products. And there shouldn't be a store like this if the sales associates have no idea what they are even talking about.

Sometimes people need to understand that THEY ARE NOT HAIRDRESSERS they give suggestions and your not paying for a service, so everything you purchase is at your best judgement and risk. another thing people need to learn how to read the instruction because clearly of you did or had read the instructions you wouldn't have messed up your hair, next time instead of asking and employee at Sally's u should go blow your 525$ at a salon were they are LISCENCED to do so,

Sally Beauty Supply Exchange in purchase denied

I went to Sally's and purchased this product above named. I requested fr an exchange item due to finding out from my landlord that within the shopping center we are located, there is an exclusive renters contract with one of the neighboring tenants who are a nail salon, that we are not allowed to perform nail services, per their contract with the landlord. I took the unopened package back to Sally's requesting an exchange of product, I was told an exchange could not take place unless I have my credit card which I purchased with. I had an issue with a theft of company checks that were stolen, the account the credit card was used, is now closed and there are no longer records available for my closed business account. I wasn't requesting a refund, I was requesting an exchange, but I was denied.

Sally Beauty Supply hair tools and product

I am a loyal Sallys customer for at least
15 yrs. I have shopped all over WA State
At a variety of Sallys. I have noticed there
product is getting made with less quality lately
I don't know if they are trying to save money
and not putting ingredients in or there lab people
are just getting lazy and not learning and
Keeping up with the times. My mom is a professional
And has been for 20 years, it took me a while
to convince her and other pros to shop at Sallys
You have come so far to get a bad name now.
Maybe less brand names; Beyond the Zone, ion, tresemme.
Concentrate on quality not quantity.
I wanted to add one more thing hopefully
Sallys lab is not making that generic (blk&wht)
because it does nothing but put build up
On your hair all the same feel to your hair
no matter which generic product and they
Make styling tools now that don't work either

Sally Beauty Supply manager

I walked in s
Sally's approached a girl who happened to be at register talking with another employee.
I said could you help me find a product that I can go platinum ?
she picked out an ash blonde. then told me to get a frosting kit? she said get the cap pull it through.
I wondered if she misunderstood me ?I said to color roots again this is ash color she said yes use it.
I end up having my hair turn grey, green, blonde dark, and it was terrible experience I wanted to color roots not go back darker.
So salon I went to in told me they messed up my hair to do a correct coloring and she used it to bring it out.
They charged me 160.00 to bring it out where Sally employee would told me in first place I would never had to go through this problem. Grant you I like Sally's I just had wrong store with wrong type people lower class..
Tonight I asked for manager told her my problem?
She threw me out her store she couldn't explain to me why hair turned Grey.Green, she said I don't know what happened please leave.
Yes I was angry and I said how you get a job as a manager you know nothing about hair..
She was rude and it's been known several people have been complaining about that one store.
How can you work their and know nothing about hair?

Usuallyif you have blonde color/ bleach in your hair already you are at risk for the green grey look with ash. I think the first advise you got wasn't too bad. I am not a stylist but a "kitchen beautician" - I monkey around with my own hair. I am a stay at home Mom so if I mess up it's not too big a deal. The ash blonde on natural hair should have lightened it an all over color and then the highlights would have given young nice dimensional look - you could have did a full head treatment to look really blonde. Just don't try to bleach your whole head, especially if you have long hair or dark hair. I just did that and got really yellow hair. Some sites said to re bleach others said noway would cause lots of damage. One site said try ash blonde color some said would turn my hair grey but at that point I would have rather had grey hair so I trie a strand test and it toned down the yello a lot so I did my whole head and it was no longer yellow but the classic bleached blonde! Yay, right? Wrong- turns out I look horrible as a bleached blonde so I colored over that with a golden brown and now I have a nice light brown color with some highlights shining thru. Surprisingly my hair is not damaged but it is short and that helps. I think I wil need to re color before too long as bleached hair does not hold color well but it has been 2 weeks and tho lighter I am still happy.

let the buyer beware by the way i have a sister with brownish hair that also went green with ash blonde yet mine never does, how are they supposed to know if your hair will react to the color that is what the color strand test is for

Sally Beauty Supply I will not shop here ever for a second time

I am a DOG groomer for shelters. I have a fantastic set of Wahl Clippers. I sent my husband into this store to buy replacement blades. He called me as soon as he got there I let them know I need blades for this specific model. YOU would thinkg Sales associates working these stores would know how to sale you the right item considering the only way of getting the blades is from the sales associate at the counter. Since they refuse to give customer satisfaction on items that sales reps should have knowledge of the consumer pays the price. When my husband returned with the bag yes I had bag balm on my hands yes it got on the OUTSIDE of the package and well anyone that has delt with DOGs knows DOG hair gets on everything. so ok yes I admit The ink on the back of the package was smeared and ok so maybe a DOG hair or 2 was on my hand but the package wasn't opened even after me calling them after pulling the package out of the bag and telling the associate that this is the incorrect one she sold us I was told well they are the same size and they changed them a bit. Well I could tell by looking thru the clear package without opening it that I have 3 screw holes that need to bolt the blade on not 2. So since I had to wait 2 days for a manager to call who insisted she would lose her JOB if anyone found out but since the package wasn't opened she would do exchange for the right ones. So sent my husband in to exchange them and due to me wiping the oil off the outside of package causing the smear on the upc code she refused to exchange. So I called the corporate office who then called the store to have the store manager LIE to them saying I was trying to get CASH back on blades that had been used and was covered in hair. I questioned them how that could be when the package was never opened there was no way hair got inside and it was impossible for me to even use them since I don't have a set of clippers that even takes that blade. I was then told by the corporate office that one can use blades without a set of clippers. I said yes of course I should of tried that maybe i can comb the blades thru the DOGs hair and cause them to vibrate opposed to each other to get the JOB done thanks for your help. Since this incident and talking to a hairdresser that has her own shop in the zone to find out she won't even give this store any business since they refuse to ever exchange items that don't even work even items bought 2 hours prior to returning to the store. Maybe the store remembers the blowdryer that cost well over $100.00 that shorted out and nearly burnt her hand. Sally stores sell supplies and I know they can't control if they get a faulty item but they should return it and send it back to this company itself but seems it doesn't matter if it's an item that has malfunctioned or a sales rep that is incompetent but my take on it is I know the economy is in a crisis even chain stores have had their share of problems but you shouldn't rip off your customers especially when you need customers that are satisfied to keep your business going. Overall I believe the sales rep sold the incorrect item on purpose this set of blades cost more then the set I needed and they need sales and afterall the sale is final even on unopened packages doesn't matter if they have hired incompetent workers that have NO knowledge of blades you would reckon the workers would at least know how to read the paper to match the blades for your model. I will not shop here ever for a second time for anything and well I know a hairdresser that suggests the same.

I was browsing the aisle for products and as I was walking from one aisle to the next I noticed a young woman whom works as an sales associate was following me from one aisle to the next. I approached her and made her aware that I felt uncomfortable and would be reporting this incident. I shall never shop at a Sally's Beauty shop again!

This is the truth so help me god. I was a manager at Sallys and it didnt take long to understand how poorly managed this company is. The top concern of this company is how cheap can we hire for the most work. Managers are expected to work 45-80 hours a week depending on staffing issues. And there are always staffing issues. Sally Beauty Supply horrible management and district manager!

Working for Sally Beauty Supply is absolutely ridiculous! The manager at Simpsonville, South Carolina Sally's is a complete joke! She is such a two faced manager to her employee's and even her district manager! Although Bonnie knows nothing about how she talks about her.. Even Mandy at woodruff road has no idea how much she gets talked about. I can warn you now, if you try to work there you wont like it, nor will you like the customer service from the manager, shes a complete ______. Yeah. They will short you in hours, screw you out of your vacation time, sick time, etc.. Also, if you get sick, you cant call out even with a doctor's note it's not "acceptable"... TRUST ME, SIMPSONVILLE SALLY BEAUTY SUPPLY is a JOKE to shop at and even WORK at! Good luck people!

I just had a similar horrible experience at Sally Beauty Supply in East Stroudsburg, PA. Almost every time I go to the store the manager and the employees are rude to me. I just asked one of the employees about a product that I have ordered in the past from Sally and unbeknownst to me, the packaging on this product changed in color. So when I was describing it to her, she was looking at me like I had 10 heads, and practically rolled her eyes. Just what type of standards does this company establish when hiring new employees. Do they require them to take a course on how to be a complete rude [censored] to customers? I felt like I was back in highschool for a moment. And not for nothing, but if these employees act like hots**t and think they are, then why are they working for Sallys? As an employee isn't it ones job to serve the customer to the best of your ability with respect and courtesy? I guess, NOT at Sally Beauty. OK, I love the products. Rant over! However, whenever I get those coupons through email I will order online because I just CANNOT STAND SHOPPING IN THIS UNPROFESSIONAL STORE. I hope that someone from Sally Beauty sees this because they need to see my comments as well as the other comments on this board. Shame on Sally for allowing this type of crappy atmosphere!

Sally Beauty Supply worst place to work

This is the WORST Company in the world to work for. They do not care about their employees-"we can be replaced" Their words. The pay is the absoloute worst. The Co always brags about how much money THEIR making but pay the employees who make that money for them crap, which is why they have a constant turnover in employees. You can't get all your vacation pay when you FINALLY do get to take a vacation. your job is threatened everyday if you can't sell their stupid items of the month. which by the way are the same tired crap every month, or their beauty club cards which are not worth the money the customer has to pay cuz they can only save UP to 10%. They expect you to freeze in the winter-thermostat not above 68 and sweat in the summer-thermostat not below 78. You can't get sick-it's not allowed, you're expected to be at their beck & call even on your days off and heaven help you if you already have plans, or are not at home when they call. The district manager is a ### who never does anything but cause problems, i sure have never seen her solve any. The VP is Rude and talks to associates like they are peices of crap beneath his feet. Employees are constantly accused of stealing with no proof. As far as raises, forget it, you will NEVER get a decent raise in this Company-maybe if you're lucky you might get 10 cent. And you get all this for $7.25 an hr-starting pay. It will take you yrs to ever reach $8.00. They say they offer great benefits-another lie-they only hire pt and you get NO benefits. If you work over your allotted hrs for the week the manager will go into payroll & change your time, which is illegal but is done all the time. Their products are 2nd rate knockoffs and they are constantly upping their prices because they feel the customer has no other beauty supply store to frequent. They put used products back on the shelf to be resold. they offer you scratch off cards to win, which are a ripoff as the prizes are not worth what they add to your income for-so how is that winning anything? The Manager reaps all the rewards, the trips, prizes ect while the employees that won those things for the manager get NOTHING. People realy should boycott this company and teach them a lesson.

I'm currently an employee with Sallys beauty. I find my reason for writing on here is because I feel I can not say anything to anyone higher such as district manager because it seems that she's more friends with managers then a serious one. Anyway I'm on here because everything that that person said about Sallys is so on point. My issue is though my manager is constantly put me down and sometimes the other employees I'm 31 years old and get talked to like I'm 10 there's never ANYTHING nice that comes out of my manager mouth . Everything and I mean everything is negative the smallest thing turns into something huge . She's NEVER wrong and if she is she will NEVER take responsibility for it. I have NEVERA BEEN Trained for anything I have taught myself everything I know and I also have learned from other stores I would help out sometime . I love working for Sallys don't get me wrong but this manager is seriously pushing some depression on me and how I'm not a good assistant manager and she regrets even promoting me. I don't know what else to do with out having to lose my job I'm just writing here maybe because I'm just tired of holding Things in now. Been with the company 4years and I'm tired now but I need a job and the money just sucks that you really don't have anyone that has your back and we work hard at Sallys and yes the managers get all the credit while we get points that we can redeem after three months for prizes but we get taxed on so we still bought them ourselfs. Anyway I'm done venting now

I am truly sorry these things that has happen and you guy have experience. I just started there and still in training everything I have read on these comments has really open my eyes while I am in training, what I have learn was a lot about the situation that has happen to you guys. See I take my train serious because I want to know what I am getting myself into. I wish you guys the best in everything you do. I also want to tell you not every job we get is for us nor were happy with and we have to fine and do what make us happy not just work to work, but to work and be happy with what every we decide to work in. I'm going to tell you that my manager is not only a chief she is also a Indian as well she also open and closes stocks shelf swept and mops. Let get back to the training it speak of the counter items as promotion that need to be sold and sally card there just products yea but really look at it the company makes money and you get an incentive as well, that not so hard when your customer is happy and you feel awesome to help someone that needed your help. Well the pay its about how much experience or knowledge you have in hair or nail. For example if you a cosmetology of coarse your going to get paid more. If you just starting with no knowledge your going to get paid STATE MIN WAGE how can you expect more. I believe it unfair to expect more if you don't have the experiences or knowledge. Camera are put in our store and they turn on automatic for our safety and to prevent theft you all know that. The best way to avoid issue with miss understood camera viewing is to always be in clear view at all time. Remember no matter how much training we receive there's not enough to learn. What I see is a lot more greed and pointing fingers than excepting what is really our anger about not getting our way, so you guys have felt it easier blame the company and bagger the company. Instead of realizing that what you guy choose as a career was your bad choose because your not happy in working there. Iam just a neutral person not here to judge nor tell anyone what to do. What I do know is if we treat people the way we want to be treat we will be treat in the same way even though we come across some people that like to treat us like crap. Don't get me wrong I don't like to be treat like that either, its that we have to try hard with them because we don't know if they have been treated like crap all there lives and see that is normal way of life for them.

Sallys is AWFUL to work for! I have worked here for just over a year now and it is amazing to me at the bull I have witnessed! Only reason I am still with the company is because I need the money while I finish school. Once I graduate I am out! My co-workers are amazing so if I was just basing this review on them and the store I work at I would say I love it! We have great customers. But it isn't like that is it? No it's not! Upper management is pure evil! Our District Managers (we have 2 of them) are shady lazy liars! I swear they lick each other on the side because they are just the best of friends lol. But on a serious note they lie a lot. When the president comes in and the other big wigs our DM is always rite there making sure no one is saying anything bad to them about her (guilty conscious much?) She also lies and says she does all this and that for us when she doesn't. Example: Day the president and ups came in and she came in and started cleaning the store and back stocking. Something she NEVER does. I just looked at my co-worker like what is she doing? She mouthed to me "Helping?" After 2 minutes of that she stopped and I realized holy crap this lady is a piece of work. Acting like she does all this extra for us... It was really pathetic. So they lie and take credit for work we do which is beyond messed up. They lie and say they do all this and that and never do! They cause major drama between employees, gossip about employees and threaten employees. Our DM reamed this one lady a good one because she went above her to get an answer for something. She told the employee there is a chain of commands and what she says is final. That they are supposed to trust everything she says! I was like screw that...knew rite there she was shady. They constantly accuse employees of stealing when they aren't, yet won't take decent action when customers actually do steal. We have 18 mirrors in our store and you think they would just install a damn camera in there. We are not aloud to call out a customer we knew stole because we didn't "actually" see them do it, but you know when you know someone stole...yet when they think an employee is stealing they make managers empty purses before an employee leaves. That has got to be illegal as hell! We get NO compensation when we work way over our hours. If a boss is out on a lengthy leave we have to work the open to close shifts which are 8:15am-9pm at 8 bucks an hour. Maybe if we are lucky get 1 day off...how is that even rite? To the manager that commented above (probably a DM lol) yes we do get free products a month, but what is funny they are not always "full sized". Also many times the employee free code doesn't work. Those scratch off tickets are a joke and part time employees get NO health benefits or vacation time for a very very long time. So there are no exceptional perks of working there. I would gladly trade in stupid IMO points for some actual commission. Sure they may offer T.V.s but you know how many points it takes to get one of those? Instead of working my ### off for months to get a toaster for 20, 000 points I think I will go to Walmart and whip out a $20 for it -_- Give me a break! Something needs done about this company and how it treats employees for sure! Something needs done about these shady DM's...we should take a stand and get these pieces fired!

I have worked for this company for about 14 yrs. this company is a disaster to its employees. I was a DIst manager and manager. Finally went down to a PT employee. I have seen this company cover up sexual harassment time and again. I have seen employees being tricked into saying they were stealing goods. I have seen district managers, VP's and Teritory managers, engage in not such good side manners. Human Resources is a joke as well. They cover up so much stuff it's not funny! They have an employee concern line that's supposed to be private...but nothing is confidential with this company. Once you complain they are the hunt to get rid of you. DMs pad their store inventories by putting stolen merchandise in the damages. They also take damages, and give them to their favorite employees. They steel time from the company! When I was in DM training in Tucson the DM would leave me to read to take her daughter to get her hair done, shop for school, etc. One DM is pathetic (think of xmas) She is a miserable cow who thrives in causing greef to her employees. They threaten, manipulate, take advantage of, and just are a bunch a pathetic ingrates! They all belong at the dollar store! Sally is the KMart of beauty suppliers! They

I've been at Sally Beauty for almost a year now. This complaint is accurate. I applied for the assistant manager position, there was a sign posted on the window asking for managers. I had about 3 years supervisory experience and overall 13 in retail. I'm pretty qualified. I was hired and left my job of 8 1/2 years for the opportunity to be an assistant manager at this store. Assuming since I wrote the position I applied for "assistant manager" on my application where asked what I was seeking and was then promptly hired, wouldn't one assume they were the new assistant manager? Wrong. I applied for the chance to maybe become the assistant manager. Nowhere on their posted sign did it say such things. So off the bat, I have a bad taste in my mouth. Regardless, I play ball and stay thinking they'll "train" me for a supposed manager program...I was there 3 months with no word on that mentioned. As months went by, I realized this just wasn't happening. I regret ever applying to this company. They are unethical. Nepotism is acceptable there as well apparently. My ex SL left for another store while her best friend became my new SL and my old SL's daughter was hired very soon after. New SL promises to "treat her like anyone else"...yea right. DM clearly dislikes certain employees. And as of April, decided she didn't like me and cut my hours from 35 to 15...which is devastating especially since the pay is so God awful. As of now, I'm 10 hours a week but still in system as 35. The KPI nonsense is just that...nonsense. If you're a good employee who is on time, in her uniform, always helpful to customers, willing to do whatever is asked to best of her ability and unloads trucks better than anyone and comes in on her day off because she was asked to on many occasions by a manager who just wanted th night off...she shouldn't have her job threatened because she didn't sell enough packets of bad conditioner. That doesn't make her a bad employee. Maybe I'm nuts.

I can't believe I didn't find this board sooner. I ABSOLUTELY agree with the complaint. I was an assistant manager for Sally's for 3 years and these all sound pretty accurate. I have so much to say, I don't even know where to begin or if I'll even feel like writing it all. I'll try to summarize. I sued Sallys when I quit and won my case because I was able to prove all of my accusations. ALWAYS have a paper trail (document everything)! It's the best way to go against these kinds of companies.

Ok I'm rambling, so basically my first year with the company I had a descent manager. Our DM at the time was childish and it took me to inform my manager that they were about to let her go. Yes, I had to tell my manager she was being fired. How did I know? Because the childish DM came in telling us all about it instead of being professional and addressing the person she should've addressed.

Anywho, the following 2 years we got a new manager that was exactly what the company wanted. EVIL, PURE EVIL. Not only was she rude to us, she was sooo rude to customers. I was constantly apologizing to customers for her bad attitude. She would make up rules as she talked. Would deny valid customer returns because she didn't want our numbers to look bad. She would talk about race, religion and politics on the sales floor and to all of us. She played GOSPEL music in the store on numerous occasions. She would always make me adjust her time, schedule was always late, told me "I don't work Sunday's, that's the Lords day!" I'm guessing Saturday's were too being that she never did weekends. Lied on other employees, no raises, high turnover. Employees would call me on my day off to ask questions that they were afraid to ask her how to do. List goes on and on.

Her and the DM were best friends before the DM even became the DM so there was that. I contacted the DM by phone and email to voice my concerns and she would run back and tell her everything I told her. Because the second I would get back to work, my manager would ask me about it which made working together uncomfortable. Finally after lots of emotional stress and no upper management to listen, I quit. But not before cashing all my IOM points I accumulated. But oh, of course they cheated me out of my earnings. They took over a month to fulfill my order and told me I wasn't entitled to them since I no longer worked for the company. Even though I cashed them in a week before I put in my 2 weeks notice. Smh

Anyway I sued them for all of my missed breaks/lunches, and stress they put on me for 3 years. I encourage you all to get familiar with your state labor laws. The rest of my co workers left the following weeks. And I finally heard they let the manager go because once we all left the numbers went way down. And demoted the DM after our entire staff proved our accusations. Checkmate.

This complaint sounds legitimate. I've been dealing with the same issues for the past three months! It's the most uncomfortable and stressful situation. I've been having problems with my manager too. It's just as stated above about getting getting in trouble, gossiping behind your back, constant threats of being fired. It's ridiculous! I've never in my life worked for a company that cares so little for their employees. There no one you can turn to for help. It's just frustrating. I'm planning to leave and seek employment elsewhere because it's not worth it. Horrible horrible company!

To Erin85...YOU may be a great manager, but they are few and far between. Please do not insinuate that I feel "entitled" to anything because I am complaining, or that it's "humorous" because I consider myself a good employee. I am a conscientious employee who shows up for work and does my job. Read my comment below yours...do you want to defend that policy? Free full sized products and accumulating points for prizes does not take the place of a secure working environment. No one who has not abused sick days and has an injury that only requires a week or two of home rest or a damn COLD for that matter should lose their jobs, or worry about losing one.

The person who wrote that there must be a reason why people were fired, and insinuated they are liars or thieves must be a CEO lol...Sally's is the absolute WORST company to work for. One girl I worked with had an injury to her ankle that required her to be off of her feet for two weeks. She was told she could not get leave because she didn't give 30 days notice lol. She was told by the store manager "we don't do that, so come to work or we have to let you go". Nice company. Girls go to work sick and infect their fellow employees and customers alike for fear of losing their jobs. This company is a disgrace.

Right prior to mother's day, I stop into one of my favorite stores to pick up a few items. Instead, I walk out empty handed because of the pure lack of customer service. Not only did I encounter the absolute loudest and rudest person in the store, but later found out that she was able to be rude and loud along with not providing any sort of customer...

Sally Beauty Supply poor customer service

I recently placed an order with the website. They claimed to have no record that I placed an order and assured me that it would be fine and I would not be charged (so I went and purchased the products elsewhere in the meantime.) Six days later I received an email confirmation for the order and got charged. I tried to dispute this and the customer service rep (after being on hold for 2.5 hours) YELLED at me. She did not offer ANY sort of apology. Really disgusting customer service and I won't be shopping with this company again!

Sally Beauty Supply horrible employee practices

I have been a long time customer of Sallys Beauty Supply at their Bayonet Point, Fl store...but will no longer do business with that store and am informing everyone I know to avoid doing business with that store.
The employee ethical practices in that store are deplorable. Never in all my years in this business have I heard an employee discuss other professionals personal business in such a disgusting manner nor have I ever heard an employee of a beauty supply business makes threats against businesses that have done business with Sallys the way it is happening in this store.
As a professional, I expect professional behavior from those who represent our occupation...this is NOT being done in this particular store.
Sallys has lost a very good customer and will continue to lose more with the employee behavior at such a deplorable low.

Sally Beauty Supply holiday return's

Bought a christmas gift for husband. He received the same gift from another relative. Unable to find receipt. Just wanted to exchange or store credit. The store manager was very rude and pointed to a sign hidden in a corner about no exchanes or refunds for electrical purchases. I explained the sealed package had not been tampered with or opened. She said that sometimes corporate will allow exchanges and refunds after the holidays but this christmas 2010 they haven't released the ok to do so. Sally's is not customer service friendly. If you shop there know when you walk out the door that's it! I work hard for my money. If i'm buying a gift and that person wants to exchange they should be able to. I'll never shop there again!

I totally agree, Sallys has very bad customer service! I went in there to buy hair extensions, asked specifically for "clip ins" and the lady handed me the wrong one which i purchased! I came home only to be disappointed that i would have to drive all the way back. I ended up getting there and they told me they cannot be returned after they are open. I understand this but the lady was the one who showed me which ones they were and told me they were the ones i was looking for! if it weren't for her i would have walked away with the right product rather than wasting $90. The lady honest to god looked as if it made her day to watch me walk away in such disappointment. It shouldn't be the fact that they can re-sell to get money, but rather the customer service!
