Safeway Horrible change - & it will be a disaster during the holidays.

I am all about change However I recently visited the Safeway I always shop at and saw possibly the worst decision money wasting and time consuming project Safeway stores have now embarked on - Changing the self check out area to be squared in like a cow pasture will create chaos and complete congestion and major disappointment on every customer that does use the self check out - Every single customer that was there today while I was checking out was angry and voicing their displeasure with the employees- it was so crowded with only a few customers- when the holidays come it will be chaotic at best -

Desired outcome: Re evaluate the design before it’s too late -

Safeway hires people whose mentality is very blue collar joe or joanna. These are just there for wages and benefits and so they are completely on a power trip over customers nowadays. The entire staff top to bottom are aligned only with what creates profit and that also includes all the soul wasted twisted perverted trans evilnania worldview. Dont shop at...

On Monday, February 21, 2022 approximately 3pm I went to Safeway near Pali Highway. As I was loading my items I noticed a man unconscious in his car. As I went back inside to inform someone I passed a mentally disabled employee. As I was passing the employee he was talking to someone and the manager (who I didn't know was the manager as I passed by him...

Safeway Wording

I work at a store in the same town, my store…a person came in and shot up the store, murdered my friend and colleague and almost killed another…this was the first time I’ve gone to a grocery store since needing to hide in place cuz I couldn’t run…I was almost done at self check out, then I hear on intercom “officer to customer service”, I looked, saw customer service, nothing at all happening, then perks says “Thankyou at customer service”…. honestly?!?! If you needed change or an over ride or something say supervisor or have a code-dont say officer-cuz people who just lived through a shooting-that’s the most horrible thing to say — change announcements on intercom-don't say officer if you don't actually need a police presence-your just triggering people to relive horrible experiences

Desired outcome: Change wording on announcements, hopefully something less triggering

Safeway Store In Oxon Hill Maryland and Safeway Headquarters

I experienced a bad experience from your store in Oxon Hill Md last week from the store manager, so I called the headquarters, and one of the customer service persons that answered the phones at HQ took my information and said that someone will contact me within 24-48 hours. It has now been 4 days and no one from the headquarters/ corporate office has tried to contact me regarding my complaint. This is very unprofessional and I guess that I don't matter as a customer. I am very upset about this. See you later Safway. I should send this to the news channels. Very upset customer.

Desired outcome: I would like an apology, refund, and to hear back from someone at the corporate level.

Safeway Enquirer, Globe, etc. magazines

I know this is really petty! I like these magazines for the crossword puzzles. Since 2 of the 3 main stores in Auburn, Wa. fly the Safeway name I would like to know if anyone knows or cares WHO is supposed to deliver these magazines to the Safeway stores. If you ask anyone at these stores I believe the employees has been given a pat answer to pacify customers that ask why they can't get these magazines. I have asked before and got the name of a distribution company that had no online address and wouldn't answer the phone. The latest story is that they changed distribution companies and? There must be someone somewhere that makes at least part of their income from the sale of these magazines. You would expect that SOMEONE would be interested in the reason these magazines are not making it to the magazine racks. Several years ago the produce manager at the original Safeway store in Auburn, Wa. had them socked away in the back of the store. The manager of the store at that time was made aware of this by me.

Desired outcome: I would like to purchase these magazines to work the crossword puzzles. It would be nice to hear from someone that cares. E-mail me at [protected]@comcast.net

Safeway phamacy in the Safeway store in fountain co, on Mesa ridge Pkwy

I have had a lot of issues since I started getting my medication at this pharmacy. Main one being they rarely answer the phone, and if they do they are rude most of the time.

Secondly, the Phamisist "Jamie", doesn't seem to know what is going on, with my scripts. In several instances she has told me something and an employee will say or do something differently. This is very difficult as I'm on a medicine that needs to be administered correctly.

I would appreciate it if someone could please call me as I have asked for management numbers and have gotten the run around every time.

Desired outcome: For the Phamisist Jamie, to learn her job, and for employees in the pharmacy not to undermine her position. This was only 2 out of many more issues I have with this pharmacy

BEWARE of Safeway located at 179 Branham Lane, San Jose and their lack of customer service or safety for their customers. I have been shopping at Safeway for over 30 years. Around 3 pm today on January 25, 2022 I was "pickpocketed" and I had a backpack purse on. My wallet was taken out of my purse that was on my back. The managers were two young men and...

I shop at the safeway in Newerg Oregon 3 or 4 times a week for my family. I shop there because of the amazing staffs. Recently there has been a woman with purple/pink hair that is in her 20s... working the self-checkout. She is aways rude to the customers, especially if they are elderly. She is always rude to me but I just figured maybe she is having a bad...

Safeway Cleanliness

There is no reason for your parking lot be filled with this much litter.

It's not a good look to associate trash and the place one goes to buy food. Please do something about this easy fix.

My suggestion is to hire local residents and dedicate there service to the community by keeping the outside clean. Thanks.

Desired outcome: Dedicate an employee

I went to the Safeway gas station located on Missouri Flat Rd in Placerville, CA; on 12/27/2021 about 8:50 pm. I had cash and needed to get gas in a couple of gas cans for my generator, because my electricity was out due to the recent snowstorm. The attendant in the gas station refused to take my cash for gas! She said "sorry, I'm not taking any more cash...

Safeway Customer Service

I used to love shopping at Safeway but lately the customer service has been absolutely horrendous! I have had issues in the past with employees trying to run me over to get wherever it was they needed to go. One male employee did it to me two times in just a couple of weeks. I was walking to the right and he walked straight at me and did not even try to move out of the way. If I hadn't moved, he would have run into me. I had another employee who was stocking shelves and he came straight at me with an empty cart and then told me...you need to move, I was walking that way. Uhmm..no...I am the customer, not you and if I am on the right side, you need to move over.

Today on 12/10/21, I had a self checkout "cashier" treat me like I was doing something wrong. I was standing behind the 2nd person in line and she said you are both in the way of other carts. You need to move over there. A simple please move over would have been much more appropriate. There was also plenty of room for 2 other carts to get through where we were standing so this really was not an issue. Then when I was getting ready to check out, I started to move toward the register while the lady was gathering up her groceries and the same "cashier" nastily told me you need to wait! Get back in line! I flat out told her and you don't need to be so rude although I don't think she even paid attention to what I was saying. Unfortunately, I do not have her name because she kept turning away every time I tried to see her name tag.

If this is going to keep up, as much as I don't like the other grocery stores in town, I will start going to them instead and Safeway will lose my business for good. You have a few really nice employees but they are getting harder and harder to find in your store.

Desired outcome: A written apology

Safeway Parfait Cups Tres Leches

November 21, 2021

Dear Safeway,

I'm not sure why you took one of your great cake slices and converted it into a "parfait." What used to be worth a 10-15 minute drive to satisfy a craving has now turned into an overwhelming vegetable oil-based dessert with a hint of cake. It's hard to digest this "cream cake" without feeling the urge regurgitate this sweet foam (not an insulate, simply stating the experience). I highly doubt that tres leches is about the whipped topping and less about the cake and milk it's meant to soak in. And to make matter's worse, customers are paying 3x more for less cake and more whipped topping and a dash of strawberry flavor.

Desired outcome: Please reconsider the original product and minimizing the really bad stuff that goes into the systems of your customers.

Safeway Dogs in Half Moon Bay Store

I was in the store in Half Moon Bay yesterday and saw the second dog in the store in one week. The dog was not a service dog, and it passed two employees as it walked down the aisle with its owner.

There's a thread about this on NextDoor right now, with numerous residents posting about the same thing. This is a health hazard and we're reporting to San Mateo County Health Department.

Please direct your staff to enforce rules regarding dogs in your stores.

Thank you,
Kris Lannin Liang

Desired outcome: Management should remove dogs and their owners from stores when dogs are not service dogs

Safeway I called Terrace BC Safeway to ask how there stock of food is.

The customer service was sarcastic towards me when I asked if they were low on groceries. I said I saw on social media alot of people said shelves were low in all the grocery stores. I have a fulltime job and only grocery shop 2x a month. I live 100 km outside of Terrace. I did not appreciate the sarcastic response I received. She said we are a grocery store we have food.

Desired outcome: Speak to the customer service staff that sarcasm is unacceptable when speaking to anyone on the phone.

Safeway Unfriendly to older population. Items ringing up higher than advertised. Not as advertised. Charging for bags. No cashiers!

A couple of weeks ago I received an email telling me that I could get a Honeysuckle White turkey for free if I spent $100 on groceries. My problem is first the digital coupons don't work and it is unfair to require people to have a cell phone to get an advertised offer. There are a lot of older Americans who don't have the kind of cell phone to be able to use the digital coupons. Even after we finlly found a store employee to apply the coupon; it didn't work. There were no cashiers! I am 67 and my husband is 69. We have some health issues that make it impossibe to shop at Safeway if we have to use the self check out. First there is no place to put anything. Second there is no place to put anything after it is scanned. Third the machine kept telling me that I wasn't putting the item in the bagging area (I was). The groceries were falling on the floor because we couldn't keep putting things in the bagging area when we had no room to put them there. The scanner kept reporting that the item was not in the bagging area. No, the stuff was falling on the floor. It was impossible to check out with the disruptions constantly happening. The scanner wouldn't work. Even with all this distraction I was aware that the prices that I was being charged were higher than the advertised prices. What kind of game is this? Finally, when I finished checking out with my $104.58 grocery order I was unable to ring in the free turkey. The store worker tried to tell me that was because I had a couple of dairy items and they don't count towads the total. What the heck? Also I was charged $7.98 for tax. I am not aware that I should be charged tax on grocery items. All I bought was food. Also the store in Frasier, CO charges $.30/bag for a bag that costs them a fraction of that. If people are really concerned about the environment then get the manufacturers to stop packaging everything in indestructable plastic. When I finally finished checking myself out I was given a choice of how much money I wanted to donate to feed someone else. $5, $10, $15, or $20. When I choose to donate I know where the money is being sent. Who knows where all the donations that I am constantly being asked for are really going. If a huge corporation like Safeway wants to help feed people they can make that donation and write it off in taxes. Every store that I go to is asking for donations. Is anyone policing what they are doing with all the money they collect. Who holds the store accountable for the overcharges that are happning? Something is fishy! I can't shop at Safeway! You shouldn't either! The only reason that I put myself through any of that is because I got an email from Safeway saying that I could get a Honeysuckle white turkey. I didn't even need it to be free. I just like that brand and go to Safeway every year to buy one. NO MORE! No cashiers! Wrong prices charged! Digital coupons that don't work! Charging for bags! Charging tax for food! It isn't worth the frustration! Are there any adults running this store and/or providing oversight of the operations?

Desired outcome: Stop the cheating and treat people fairly. Fix the problems.

Safeway Plastic bags scandal

Good morning.

I am writing to bring to your attention the issue that I have experienced in some (maybe all) of our local Safeway in the San Francisco bay area.

We moved from free plastic bags a few years ago to paper bags that we had to purchase for 25 cents. That was totally understandable since we were working at reducing plastic consumption and consequential plastic trash in our oceans.
My complaint is that now the stores (Belmont, San Mateo and who knows where else) is only offering plastic bags. WTH, not even a choice between paper or plastic. Only plastic. And thick plastic. That is just not acceptable and needs to be fixed!

I understand that I can bring my own bag but instead, until it gets resolved, I will take my grocery business elsewhere!

Desired outcome: Stop using Plastic bags at cashier lanes.
