Ross Dress for Less craming suits in a very small bag

I have gone to Ross several times a month and bought several suits, the store clerk folds up my suits and stuff them in a very small bag, several times I was so angry I left the store with my garments in my hand. On other occasions I asked for the manager. If I purchase a suite I don't want it balled up in a small plastic bag. We, the customer should not have to get into an argument with the clerk because I don't want my clothes balled up. Do you want your purchased balled up in a small bag. Purchase some suit covers(clear plastic). I am sure I am not the only one with this complaint.

Thanks Marie

do you realize that ross IS NOT MACYS! Ross is a DISCOUNT STORE that doesnt even always have suits, and the ones that you do buy your getting an amazing deal on them, correct? get your own danm suit bag and any cashier will gladly put it in there. or heres one why dont you just carry it out? oh no heaven forbid you don't get some friggin' plastic. get off your high horse and realize that ross is just a discount place and NOT A DEPARTMENT STORE! sheesh!

We aren't allowed to give hangers away so yes that means we have to take your clothes off the rack and fold them up and put them in a bag. Buy some hangers and we'd be happy to put them on your purchased hangers for you.

Quit ###. The clothes come balled up in a box when they come in anyways. Besides, who doesn't wash their stuff before wearing it? Sicko.

Ross Dress for Less customer service, cleanliness

Terrible customer service by a girl by the name of Sabrina or Sabrija. She refused to check a price for my little daughter, just because she thought she wouldn't buy the item, but I was the one paying for it! I don't know what their policy is regarding cleanliness, but this lady hadn't taken a shower / bath in like probably a year! Come on Ross! It's time to get rid of the crap!

I have a good experidress from Peridress. I'd like to share it with you. I ordered the wedding from Peridress mainly for the guaranteed quality and best prices. It is an online dress shop with seven years history, I just told myself I should do the choice in the seas of different styles and designs, whose price framework is 100$~500$. I received the package in 6 weeks afterwards the order was placed online. I was timely informed where the step was during the order procedure and dress manufacture. Everything went smooth.I tried on the dress to find what it looks like. Absolutely beautiful and perfect fits, especially of the costume jacket, I couldn’t cheat myself to say! The shopping experience shew me more trust in online dress shops! I will be back soon for another evening dress should be prepared in one month! Thank you, peridress.

Ross Dress for Less they lost several hundred dollars worth of sales from me

I have shopped at this store several times. Everytime I go there and go to the checkout, that is when all the problems begin. You never know which lane to get in, you wait for ever to get waited on. This particular day, I was sent to 2 different lanes. Then they took several people after me to the 1st lane I started with. When I asked why, they just started laughing. I waited in line for over 20 minutes to get summer clothing. Finally I asked the clerk, when she was going to check me out, she started laughting again and told me, when and if I feel like it! Several customers behind me said they are treated like this all the time also. I asked to talk with a Supervisor, they laughed again. So, I left my cart there with all my merchandise. When I started walking out the door, they called me a snob and started laughing again. I have talked with several people that have the same complaints at this store. The other Ross Stores, don't do this. They lost several hundred dollars worth of sales from me. I talk with lots of people and we all agree that this store needs all new workers!

Ross runs out of the bags because they are given expense each month, to buy certain items, from toilet paper to trash bags which is never enough for stockroom, and the new recycle . It's not because someone left a cart of clothes. Your manager needs to order more bags, or better than that watch what bag your using ?

Ross Dress for Less bad customer service

Today I was at the Ross store in Moscow, Idaho. I had my purchases and was heading for a quick check out when I ran my credit card through and it did go through. No problem with my card as was shown shortly after at a nearby store. The checker said run it again, which I did. After 3 more repeats of this and no action, the manager came and for another 10 minutes of waiting there was still no go with their system. I tried writing a check. The system would put it through either. I asked the clerk if the charges would go through and she said no, not if a receipt isn't issued. After waiting 15-20 minutes, we finally gave up, abandoned our merchandise and left the shore, assured that no charges would go through to VISA.

When we came home, I found 5 charges, all for the same amount on our VISA account. I called the store. The manager had left. The sales associate called him and he did call back on his way home. Nevertheless he refused to help me in any way until the morning, was still mad that we had walked out (after 20 min. of standing there and running our credit card 5 times for nothing!) without the merchandise. And he hung up on me when I said that we had been lied to that the charges would not go through. I have never received not just poor customer service but disrespectful lack of service with no regard whatsoever for the customer's time, convenience and account safety.

Buyer beware at Ross Stores

I got a good laugh reading all the employee complaints. I'm guessing most are pt employees by the management comments. But when it comes time to bash on a customer you're all FAST on speaking Ross policy. So in the 10 hours a week you work and lack of training, you're IT experts. FYI voice of reason, it is possible to charge a card that much, there was a huge mess over it. It happens when a cashier swipes a card over and over. Now a warning pops up because cashiers can't remember not to mess things up. Just like refunds can't go onto prepaid cards, that's been around for 5 years. So, yes Shannon it's the cashier`s fault. Jedi a manager can do whatever they want on the register, there's various security levels and they can make a discount card for anyone, I'm sure Mr.Cribb may have the authority.and wouldn't endorse this type of customer service. Read your handbook. I'm in no way promoting Ross, this company is corrupt when you dig, BTW my information comes from 8 years there. I was one of those managers who started as an associate. This was a good stepping stone, but I got tired of spending all day in the office fixing cashier screw ups

It's one thing to comment on the ignorance of someone who doesn't know your experience at Ross, but it's another thing when you're degrading someone's work, Shannon. My first job was in retail and I swore to myself I was never going to go back that road again. The pay never equals the work of labor (surprise surprise), and customers can be outrageously rude themselves. I can't imagine what the employees at Ross feel at the end of a long shift after cleaning up piles of clothes that customers throw around carelessly, so cut them some slack and maybe they wouldn't give the public such bad customer service.

wooowwwww shannon, you need to grow up. Seriously.

I've worked for Ross for 3 years and while we are a ### company who does shady things, I have never in all of these years, had a transaction where two swipes charged 10 times the amount of the purchase price. So while it may be entirely true, we find it hard to believe. Also, life time discount? Hahaha. Store managers don't have that power. The only discounts that cashiers are authorized to give are the 10% on tuesdays to the 55 and older crowd, and 10% off for /damaged/ merchandise.

Give us a break here. We're working with equipment that is 15 years old because the company won't update our registers. Our credit/debit pinpads are constantly going offline because it's too new to communicate with the dinosaur computer it's attached to. So if you want to complain about someone, how about the guys who work at corporate making the big bucks while we store associates get a 25 cents raise A YEAR.

One other thing Mr. Voice of reason.. Let me guess you are a college drop out who lives with mommy and daddy, who can't get a woman and who clings to cats for company...who enjoys spending lonely nights infront of his computer masterbating and getting off to consumer complaint boards because actual human interaction is just too much for you...guess porn isn't an option for you... You can't even handle online interactions on behalf of your company...or judging from your comments about stocking, the backroom and comments about the boxes..clearly Ross has had you at one time in the perfect company position...a place where you couldn't interact with people. Given all of the comments you have made on other posts.. I assume you work for ross and will never get promoted to a manager position because both the legal and illegal workers are more quailfied at using a price tagging gun, unloading boxes and merchandise, and have more skill at using a pos register than you have.Bravo! Excellent customer service Mr. Voice of Reason enjoy a life of minimum wage, long hours, no breaks and a future that is guaranteed to be miserable. Thank God not all Ross employees are as stupid as you are, otherwise Ross would be really hurting for customers.

Oh and one other thing "Mr. Voice of Reason" -If you work for Ross, and it appears you must since all of your comments are directed at customers who had a less than satisfying experience shopping there... well you should be ashamed of yourself. Ross is one of my favorite stores and yes I had a horrible experience shopping there Christmas Eve weekend. You sir are pathetic, and clearly are either hired by Ross to refute the comments on this message board, or are a store employee. Thank God I don't judge the entire company based off your ignorant opinions. For the record I shop at Ross all the time, even though their computers had a glitch and caused a problem for me over the holidays. Thanks for being a real dick online. Think I will mention it to the president of the company when he calls me about the certified letter I sent him about the companies handling of my issue at Christmas. Guess I could print off all your comments online to show that someone within the company is going out of their way to lose Ross customers and destroy the Ross brand. But then again, you must be a miserable person to have this attitude and work in RETAIL.

In response to Mr. Voice of Reason.. yes $ 500.00 was deducted from the gift card. It was so bad that the manager of the store has given me a lifetime discount at that particular store for the hassle Ross caused me during the Christmas holidays. I have all documentation proving my case, emails with the store manager to the corporate office, and the actual receipts. So smart @ss, yes my card was charged twice, and yes because it was a gift card, the clerk with the computer glitch did deduct the entire balance of $ 500. Once for a sale, and then once for a return… then it deducted the entire amount of 500. Either way sir, you are an idiot. And on the receipt it shows multiple transactions for the same amount... totaling 500. It got resolved by my local Ross store, and you sir need to get a life if all you do is get on these complaint boards and try to make fun of people and their shopping experiences. And if you work for Ross, shame on you.

Wow Shannon, your comment TOTALLY makes sense... NOT! It's not mathematically possible for a company to CHARGE you more than the total times it was rung! If it was swiped twice, the most you'd be out of (temporarily, mind you) is $80 - not this $500 you claim to be missing. I repeat - with a modern computer POS system, you CANNOT BE CHARGED MORE THAN WHAT IS ON THE SCREEN. I also particularly enjoyed the part where you initially stated your card was swiped twice but then was charged 10-12 times! This is a fun, fictional story!

I went to the Ross Store in Brickyard, Salt Lake City, Utah. I had the same experience, except I was paying with a $ 500 gift card from Wells Fargo. When the cashier said to swipe the card for the $ 40 purchase I made, it did not go through the first time, so we ran it a second time, the transaction went through for the amount of $ 40. However, when I went to go buy groceries later at Smith's, the gift card declined, it was so embarrassing. So, I called the gift card company through wells Fargo and they told me that Ross had the amount of $500 dollars and it was pending and they could do nothing until Ross reversed the charges. This is where my nightmare begins, because Ross charged the entire amount of $ 500 and I had no funds available, I had no gifts to put under the Xmas tree, I wasn't able to buy groceries, run errands I needed to before Christmas. I was late to pick up my mother by 30 minutes because the manager at the store could not get anyone at customer care to pick up the phone at 9pm. I then had to come back to Ross at 9 am and have the manager of Ross sit on the phone to try to get ahold of anyone who could reverse the charges, which she figured out they charged me 10- 12 times for one purchase, she sat waiting on the phone for 2 hours. So because of all this my Christmas has been ruined. Supposedly their was a glitch in the point of sale process, which caused this. This is unacceptable as this is not just a $ 50 dollar mistake. This was a $ 500 dollar disaster which caused my family a very unmerry Christmas. Ross has said they will reverse the charges but I have yet to see anything show up on my gift card. Thanks to Ross Dress for Less, this was not only a horrible shopping experience but a very sad Christmas weekend. ~ Shannon P- Utah

I was at a Ross store in the Houston area and had a similar experience. My card was run 3 times and finally the cashier said the card was declined. I called the credit card company and they said the card was run 3 times with the 3rd time resulting in a charge to my card. Ross says it was voided, but my credit card company said they didn't see any void. I called the customer service number given to me by the store where I sat on hold for 58 minutes before talking to someone who said it was a nationwide "banking problem" and they couldn't help me until today and for me to call back. I said I didn't want to wait on hold for another hour and she assured me they would have personnel in to handle the calls and I shouldn't have to wait. I have now been on hold another 59 minutes! My merchandise is supposed to be held in the store, but..come on, this is a Christmas present! Merry #@%* Christmas!

Ross Dress for Less bad customer service

Please consider correcting this problem. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of using the one bathroom that is available to customers at your Auburn, California Ross Store on Bell Road. I honestly felt like I needed to go directly home and take a shower. This is an ongoing problem. When you consider the amount of money that goes through that, (and all) Ross Stores, is it really too much trouble, or expense to invest a small amount of your profite to provide, at the very minimum a sanitary, bathroom for your customers? A bathroom that is even a bit clean, and is stocked with four basic needs, toilet seat covers, toilet paper, soap and paper towel. A clean toilet seat, walls and floor would also be appreciated. I would have to say that it is continually one of the absolute WORST restrooms that I've used. I'm quite sure that if any one of the possibly hundreds of Ross executives, or one of their family members was to enter that bathroom, they would be disgusted, would refuse to ever use it, refuse to acknowledge that they are in associated with Ross in any form or fashion, OR return to the store. I understand that Ross is not, or is it trying to be a Neiman Marcus, etc. I enjoy the discounts. However, not enough to JEOPARDIZE my health. I am once again truly disgusted! You have the means to solve this problem, so do the right thing and clean it up!

Eliza at lakewood won't give me my own 21.87 cents of shoes I returned, didn't wanna help, and was rude. I went to Ross on Meridian they gladly helped no problems. Thing is, if I could have taken off that damn elastic band I would have known I didn't want those shoes at the store, and wouldn't have to ask for my money back. I'm calling corporate because that Eliza lady is rude as hell and not helpful

Ross Dress for Less unpleasant employees

I went to Ross tonight to do some needed shopping. My complaint may not get reviewed, but my concerns are very important to me. I usually love shopping here because of the great bargains and items. The employees however I guess like any other person has their good and bad days. I never did anything to instigate any negativity towards anyone. I did get some really mean glares like I usually do get from the same employees each time I go. I didn't get their names but I believe one was a manager on duty and the other was a floor associate. The cashier was the only person there tonight that made my shopping experience not all a loss. I just wish I can shop without judgmental stares. I might have to stick with T.J Maxx from now on at least there everyone gets treated equally without the unpleasantness from the employees. Thank you for taking the time to read my concerns. Peace, love, and respect.

The first debit transaction didnt go through, so we swiped my card 2 more times. After the computer system failing I left my item and left. I made sure to ask the Ross Associate Sarah to ensure my bank account wouldnt incur the charges. She reassured me it didn't go through. But it did, and sure enough the money deducted posted.
I spoke with the manager - rude/impatient / assured me the charges were voided when I was there. I called Ross customer service the next day and was told this was a "nation wide" problem... totally inconvenient.

I was not issued a refund and accused of lying of use of product. The product was a pair of shoes I purchase for an interview. The lace broke when I tried to tie the item. When I tried to return the item within one week of purchase the clerk accused me of using the item and refused to accept the return.

The sole of the item was not perfect at the original point of sale yet the manager in more or less words accused me (the customer) of lying and told me I was being done a favor by issuing only a store credit.

There where no other shoes suitable for my interview unfortunately and I was very displeased at the accusation of not telling the truth when in fact I never used the defective merchandise, the sole was worn down yes but possibly in the store by other customers or a return from someone else.

The shoes at the time fit and where affordable and comfortable and to code for their use which was why I purchased and assured they would be usable unfortunately this was not the case. I would like a full refund still and will call visa to report the incident if not addressed by a dm.

The store was store # 251 Chantilly, VA. The Manager who refused to return is Celia Digil. The incident was frustrating and embarrassing to accuse my integrity.

My pocketbook was stolen out of my shoping cart in the store while I was shopping. I was then told later that it was found but it was put into a basket in the back of the store. But they told me they could'nt see who stole it but they did see me on the store surveilance. I think it was an inside job because the police also did'nt look at the tape. THe store is the one who called me and told me they found my pocketbook. I had to get new credit cards social security card and the whole nine!

I attempted to return several items that were Christmas Gifts or bought in the last few months. Ross refused to accept several items and would only give like 20 cents on the dollar for other items. However, consumers can still find like and identical items on the store's shelves today. If Ross believes there recent merchandise is so bad, why are they even selling it in the first place.

You didn't say where this took place at. If it was Smith's on Lakeside I am sure I know who you are talking about. Every time I have had this cashier ring me up she has been very cold. Not a smile or anything. I've tried to talk to her but she just ignores you.

Ross Dress for Less hate ross

Ross is the worse store to work for. The manager never care ### for employee. The only thing managers do is push employees to work faster and harder. Employee are time to do work. Stockroom people are timed to hang up clothes and markdown team are time to scan merchandises. The numbers that they have to scan is unreasonable. Think about it you have to size, do go back, scan, and re-ticketed items but have to reach the number which is 300 per hours for hardline and 500 for apparel. That mean you have to scan almost 4000 if you scan apparels when working 8 hours shift. We takes breaks and lunch so in 6.5 hours we have to scan almost 4000. We are not machine no one can scan with same speed in all 6.5 hours. When you don't meant the expectation they come to you and tell you to scan faster. You do not even have time to breath just work and work. Not only that bot also you get interrupted when the front call you for doing jewelry, roll in the fitting, do go backs. You would feel so much pressure because you suppose to scan merchandise but you are stuck in jewelry or register. Managers always tell you to work faster but when you do something wrong they tell you that you that you are going too fast and that the quality of your work suffer. They want fast but also right. Everyone know that if work fast then quality of work is not so good that is how life is. They want to push employee so hard that it would be stressful to go to work. Employee get all complaint with customers and manager just sit in room and look through camera and talking on the phone.

Ross Dress for Less treating employees bad

I have worked for Ross for 31/2 years always been a great employee. On 6/17/11 a man came down from another dept saying he was LP. He never showed me an id or had a name tag on to say that he was. My store manager had me go in to a office with him and this man B. Walker. They closed the door and it locked from the outside. At this time the man said he was from loss prevention. And that I had loss Ross money. He keep tell me that it occurred on June the 7, 2011. After many times telling me I need to tell him what happened on this date He was raising his voice at me and keep telling me if I didn’t tell him, He was going to call the police. I explained to him that I have never taken anything from the store he stated I did not steel any thing I lost the company money. He would yell over my shoulder telling my boss Greg to call the police dept. I keep asking him what it I did is and he keeps telling me I knew. I did not know and I was very scared not to mention how I felt being in the office with two men one standing behind me and the other sitting in front me drilling me like he was a police officer, and raising his voice at me trying to get me to admit I did something wrong. When I didn’t admit what he wanted me to he said I need to make restoration for the money I lost the company. Keep in mind all this time I keep asking him what I did and to show me the tape he keep talking about. Mr. Walker said I can’t show you the tape unless he calls the cops. By now I was scared because of the way these men were treating me. While one was raising his voice and my boss standing behind me, never saying a word. This man was so scary and so intimidating (def (in order to make them do what one wants) I could not understand why they would pull a female worker in a locked office with two men, or allow any one to be treated like this. AT this time Mr. Walker told me I need to make restitution for what I loss the company. There for I go get my purse and write a check out to the amount. Then Mr. Walker says you have to mail it in. at that time I look at my store manager and ask for a envelope. I put the check and a paper in the envelope. Then Mr. Walker showed me the tape. I was so unset and crying at this time. I did not feel I had did anything on purpose, the store was busy and I was trying to hurry. I still do not feel I owe any money to Ross because I never took anything. What I don’t understand is why I was treated like a criminal. By time I got home I called the district manager he told me to call a human recourse. I called her left a message she returned my called the next day we talk and she said she would call me back. She called me back ask me a few more question and she said she would call me back on 6/19/11. She never called me back and I called her on 6/20/11 left a message and she still has not called me back it is now 6/23/11. As of right now I don’t know if I still work for Ross. They never did anything about the way Mr. Walker treated me. They never even got back to me. I have a hard time believing how i was treated, how Ross would treat their employee, how they would disrespect me and there was a female supervisor on the floor. How can Ross treat any one like this? I called the store they said I was still employed but taken off the schedule. If anyone would of ask me was Ross a good place to work I would of said that they over look employees that are next in line for promotions. But other that yes I loved my job and the people I worked with. But now if someone was to ask me I would say they don’t stand beside there employees and don’t care how they intimidate you. But most of all they are not for the employees and do not return calls as they say they will.

I know it's a little late for it now, but the next time something like this happens you need to say "fine, i'll wait for the police".

and wait.

don't sign anything, don't pay anything, and certainly don't admit anything they can't prove (especially since you sincerely didn't do it). The police would have treated you with more respect than they did, management wouldn't have been able to do anything to you unless they proved to the police that you did it, and the police most likely would have sided with you. The store manager may even have gotten into trouble for calling the police for no reason, as well as the store getting into trouble when the company finds out how they treated you.

It's hard to think clearly in these unexpected situations, i understand that. Just learn from it. Now you'll know what to do if this ever happens again.

For starters Brenda is correct. Why would you allow someone to intimidate you to the point where you handed them a check. What was the reason for the check? What type of history do you have that you were approached in that manner? What was the amount? Why weren’t the Police called? Primarily what are you paying for? Are you a fulltime employee? Can you say that you’ve been given the respect as a person? You are not given the respect as employee or a person at this point so I believe you will need to show face & go to your employment. If that isn’t done you will not be given respect (You aren’t given respect it now) nor will you have a job. Wouldn’t you like to feel like a person that has respect from within 1st?

Ross Dress for Less harrassment

My husband & I decided to go shopping to get our minds relaxed after a long day of work. We went to Ross for less but insted of feeling relaxed we felt harrased by the security guy who was often behind my husband. We would see him everywhere just following us. Even my 9 year old daughter asked me why was the security guy looking at us soo much. At the end my shopping relaxment was just horrible, we hardly even shop for anything except for 3 items that we picked before we notice this guy following us. This is ridiculous, it doesn't make any sence at all. I wouldn't have complained if he was doing his job correctly but he wasn't he was just giving us hard time.

If a cart is needed to take merchandise out I have been instructed to go to Target and get a cart.

One time a client and I purchased 3 shopping carts full of merchandise at one purchase. We were told to go to Target and get carts to take the merchandise out of the store. We were not even allowed to take it out the front door to the curb to put the merchandise in the vehicle, approximately 25 feet.

This happened to me again this week when I purchased a metal table and two metal chairs. I was told to go to Target and get a shopping cart to take them out of the store.

I asked if Target knew they were doing that and was told probably not.

I totally understand the need for a security guard and theft prevention and I would have responded to something like this the same way acherop did, with little empathy, except in the past year, it has happened to me...when I hadn't yet even put anything in my cart or touched any merchandise. Granted, my experience was on an empty day in a Safeway, but same principle.

Getting stared at by the security guard, being the fixation of their gaze, or even being on the receiving end of a menacing look, is different from simply being observed. The fact that I'm a female made this especially uncomfortable... as my space was not just invaded, but by someone of the opposite sex who can use their job as an excuse to do so...after all, if we have a problem with him looking at us, it must be our guilty conscience, right? We must just not have an self-confidence? These are the responses you will get from people who aren't putting themselves in your shoes.

I think the most frustrating thing was that when I noticed I was being stared at, I turned to stare back, as I had been taught to do when met with this sort of thing. and he wouldn't budge. I was really angered, and had I not had a busy day ahead of me, might have said something.

I hate that in order to stand up for myself, I'd have had to say something like, "Excuse, I noticed you've been staring at me for longer than is appropriate. Is something the matter here?" and sacrifice the dignity afforded to people who come across as white, upper class, etc.

OH MY we had the same thing happen at a canadian giant tiger which we go to frequently
its disgusting as we go there and the guy knows we shop there...aand browse
i would think security would want to be a bit more sublte ...

and yes some people do browse for relaxation or to poke in on a sale
it is not harassment but go somewhere else ..and also tell the store manager if you are a frequent customer
he does not want to lose your business ..

Ross Dress for Less hired/fired without even working

I was hired by Ross early in May, the day I was supposed to start I got a call from the manager saying there was a computer problem and something wrong with my paperwork and not to come in. After many phone calls, they told me another Ross had hired me, even though I had only interview with their store. Apparently, the two stores cannot talk to each other and I had to call them back and forth trying to figure what was wrong. I never really got a clear answer. I finally got to talk to the woman who "hired" me at the other Ross and she pretty much said I never answered their calls (I never got any) and would talk to her manager and then hung up on me. The Ross I was supposed to work at told me HR was working on it. I waited two weeks, passed up three other job interviews, and was told today that my position had been filled. I am working on writing a complaint to the corporate office. I doubt much will come from it, seeing how unprofessional the whole business is.

Ross Dress for Less labor law violations

I am stationed in Afghanistan and my fiancee works at Ross Dress For Less in Lakeland, FL. She has been working there two years and passed over for a manager position by a girl who is 21 (my fiancee is 33) because of seniority. The manager's name is Charlene. My fiancee is Indian and she is being discriminated against. She called me today (in Afghanistan) to tell me that she worked 6 hours and her manager, Charlene, refused to give her a lunch break. Now I KNOW that according to the Fair Labor laws if you work over 6 hours you are supposed to get a lunch break. My girlfriend has a high metabolism and if she doesn't eat regularly she has migraines. She is also discriminated against by not being allowed to go get food on her 15 minute breaks (everyone else is), not being allowed to have any water under her cash register counter (everyone else is, she is supposed to work 6 hours without food OR water?) Also, she is supposed to get off at 5 and Charlene won't let her leave until the "line goes down." My fiancee also tells me that employees at the store make fun of her because she is Indian, so that right there is also discrimination going unchecked. My fiancee also told me that a new employee, on the first night, ran out crying because of Charlene's treatment to her.
Does ANYONE have the email or phone number to the District office for Ross Dress For Less in Florida or for Ross Dress For Less Corporate headquarters so my girlfriend and I can file a complaint? I looked up on the internet that the violation for violating a labor law is a fine of up to $5, 000, and Charlene obviously is violating labor laws by making my fiancee work 6 hours without a lunch break!

Does ANYONE have the email or phone number to the District office for Ross Dress For Less in Florida or for Ross Dress For Less Corporate headquarters so my girlfriend and I can file a complaint? If so PLEASE email me at [protected]@hotmail.com

Ross is probably the worst place to work for. This does not sound uncommon. I was an area supervisor at Ross for almost a year. I have added up all the breaks that I was legally entitled to take and it totals out to about 100 hours. They would force me to stay in the building on shift, because there wouldn't be any other person in the building who could cover me.

Ross Dress for Less customers should know this

Ross policies are tooooo lenient on the customers and too harsh on employees. I understand that because I work there, I'm being paid to provide a service to people, but COME ON! Don't treat me like a goddamn waitress, because you have to leave a tip for them and I don't see a tip jar at my register for "folding your clothes nicely (JUST LIKE SOME OF YOU REQUEST) before putting it in the bag." Seriously, I have no idea why you ask that in the first place, are you going to put it in your drawer when you get home? I hope you're going to wash it, sooo filthy! Another this would be, your ### fits when you don't get your way. I understand that you are supposedly right, even though majority of you are just talking ###, but COME ON! If you can't return and item, because it's obvious your put your filth on it, don't act like a child, it's bad enough we have to pick up after you when the store is closed. I can't believe you people expect to be treated with the best customer service, what makes you think you deserve it? Go to freaking macys and pay double, if you want to be treated like the king/queen of lazy land, and I don't get why you dont ruin their store when they charge waaayyy too much. We Ross employees work hard because of you goddamn animals, just because we don't smile at you, kiss your ###, doesn't me we provide services..

We RING UP YOUR ITEMS, WE BAG YOUR ITEMS, PICK UP AFTER GROWN ADULTS, ASSIST YOU WHEN YOU NEED HELP CARRYING YOUR BAGS TO YOUR CAR (because you're an idiot when you know the carts dont go outside, yet you still get more that you can handle), ASSIST YOU AT THE FITTING ROOM, BREAK OUT BACKS BECAUSE YOU LEAVE THE STORE A MESS WHEN IT HITS CLOSING TIME, LISTEN TO YOUR AWFUL REQUESTS, ECT.

BUT THAT ISN'T ENOUGH FOR YOU! YOU STILL NEED YOUR ### KISSED.

I say, "I'd rather kick a ross customer's ###, than kiss it. They deserve it."

Ross Dress for Less unfair work environment

So I worked for Ross about 5 and a half years I went from store associate to Assistant store manager realized what kind of company it was then dropped down to a part time associate again to go back to school. Well if you want to know something about Ross from someone who was high enough up to know how they operate, how they treat their employees and what corprate is really like this would be the complaint to read. Not only when the economy started to drop but basically every year they kept cutting and cutting hours for the store to use to staff the place properly (and thats why it is always so messy and the lines are backed up). Ross acts like it cares about its employees but thats a sham and is meaningless to anyone who has worked their long enough. Ill just start by saying that corprate MADE the store manager transfer to another store and bring that store manager to this one. Why you ask? Who knows maybe because they can and they know it or maybe they were hoping that person would quit. But anyways once this new manager came in the store went to hell and he manipulated every employee and even payroll to his advantage. He decided that since he was store manager he should be doing anything but sitting in the office creating the schedule or writing "important" emails. That manager didn't fool me one bit I use to run the schedule and it took about 2 hours MAX but insisted on working on it all week. Then comes to say to all the employees is there anything I can do for you, and when you ask he says ok ok but never does anything. And then at the so called "Rally Meetings" says all the time "I'm here to help you, and thats why you always see me helping you guys." thats when most employees look at each other and laugh then the manager wonders whats so funny. I recently quit because when they found out I was going back to school they didnt want me there even though I had been there for over 5 years and could do the managers job with ease. So my hours got cut to 4 (cause they dont fire or lay you off they just give you no hours so you quit.) You ask "Why?" well the manager there frowns upon people who are getting an education because that person is not dedicated to slave work the rest of their life.
So if you are thinking about working for Ross or already do and our hoping to get that open full time or managemnet position I sugest you really think about because Ill let you knwo right now as an Assistant manager for 2 years and been working there the previous 3 I was getting paid 13.75 and hour. Can you believe that assistant manager making what T-Mobile call station employees make after 6 months.
So is it worth it? Ill let you make the decision.

I am currently seeking a lawsuit against Ross. I have been written up when told by the DM she would NOT write me up, then hands me a final. Please not this happened after our stock lead got fired and 5 other people said they cuss and didn't receive a write up...just me. I was promised the stock lead position in 2 Weeks, 8 MONTHS AGO! We(stock lead and I, as i'm the back up or was) were lied to and told that they were taking out the position in only high volume stores...really? :-/ Our asst. manager was fired over taking the fall for the other asst. manager. Our new stock lead was "talked" to about me and now there is so much animosity in our back room, I can't even go to work and say anything to a fellow employee without the stock lead jumping in and thinking it's about her and giving me attitude. oh, also 2 people, have gone 2 years without a raise. One got the excuse you didn't receive your raise because you were on vacation...I'm Fed Up with that store! Anyone know of anyone who can help me on this?

I've been at Ross for a couple of years and I haven't sought a full time position, mainly because I like the hours of not working nights or weekends. But now I've had it so much with that place that I don't care about working nights or weekends, just as long as it's not there. My main goal is to get the heck out of there ASAP! I would never seek a full time position in that hellhole!

Ross Dress for Less - dont ever work here!!!

I worked at Ross for a little over 3 years. I started out as an store associate and then moved up to a higher postion once I finished college. I must say, I will NEVER subject ANYONE to working with this company. They make stupid choices about the way the stores should be ran. Often put the least important things first and throwing the things that matter...

Ross Dress for Less poor store policies, poor treatment of employees

Management at my store is wonderful, it's corporate I have a problem with. They make changes to the procedures that are inefficient, tedious, and half the time don't make any sense, and then expect people to follow their rules like they're gods even when it's screwing everything up. I've worked retail for years, and in my experience, if you do your job correctly, and you can find optimum ways of being efficient, then that's what matters. Especially when our store is a small store, so we don't often have the payroll to be keeping people past the hours that they're scheduled. But ross? Nope. They don't give a rats #. You bust your # for the company (And I for one take great pride in my work) and for what? Nothing. You don't follow their stupid new policy, and they threaten to fire you... Even though the new way makes you about 3 hours slower than the original procedures. That's odd, because in other jobs i've worked, they appreciate when you can be as fast as possible, as long as you're doing your job correctly. My bosses love me there, and yet they're forced to get on my # about something even they don't agree with because they're too busy kissing corporate's #. I do not recommend anyone working for this company, ever. You will bust your # for not enough pay and be completely under-appreciated unless you sell them your soul.

There are people there that have worked for more than 5 years and still cant move up. Its the worst paying job ever and they treat you like crap and belittle you. You bust your ### for min wage and so unappreciated Its pathetic! TAKE MY ADVISE DON'T WORK FOR THIS COMPANY! We cant even go outside on the sidewalk for our break for fresh air!

I work for RDL in So Calif. Same here. They are systematically getting rid of tenured and higher paid employees. Then when you go to unemployment hearings (they always deny claims) they have all the nit pikey evidence with no real merit and the EDD agrees, with them!. Yes they missed a highlight and 1 initial. The EDD is the 1% lapdog. The 99% is lost. Any Class Action Lawsuits out there post the on the WEB. Ross Dress for Less NEEDS A UNION! If there is any UNIONs out there, HELP!

I am currently an employee in a s. California Ross and all I can say is that the original comment is 100 o/o true in every way. I have been working at Ross for a little over a year and thought of as management worthy but I don't think I want it. I like the work, I work hard but I am under paid and there is too much "bull" crud in the way the store is managed at the corporate level. My 16 year old makes more then I do working fast food, and does not have to put up with any of the stuff I do.

Ross Dress for Less treated unfairly; among other things.

I've been working at Ross for a year now, I'm one "Full-Timer" of the 4 Full-Timers and I could tell you now everybody hates working there except one person, The front end supervisor, and if I worked 9-5 with weekends off and got better pay then the others, I would like to work at Ross to. The Management is so unfair and so unprofessional it makes me sick. The store manager has his head so far up his ### because he's getting a promotion as a District manager. They don't care about their employees, all they care about is profit. The par-timers are reusable we go through them like nothing and they are just there to fill up the empty spots that us full timers leave. There is a lead stockroom person thats been working there for a year, and has had that position for a year and she still gets paid 7.50. Not only does she have to lead a lazy stockroom that doesn't give a ### where things go, and the managers don't care neither. She also has to be in customer service, do go backs and occasionally do projects. The store manager is married and has asked her numerous times to go to lunch together. She has weekends off and she work from 5 am-1 p.m.. Then there is a full timer sales floor full timer, and that works from 1 p.m.-close every day, get paid 7.50, and NEVER has set days off. she has the biggest and most hardest department to take care of, but is always forced to do other things like cover lunches and breaks, run go backs, run the register, do projects, and at the time of closing have the department look perfect, and when it doesn't they go over it with her like she is a little kid. She has been working there a year also. Then there is the lead SPS. First, I would like to say the SPS don't do anything. They actually watch the customers walk right out the doors with stolen merchandise. Not because their lazy, it's because the SPS is there to watch the employees not the customers who steal from open to close. The store manager has actually said don't approach the "customers" when their stealing, don't stop them at the door, and don't ever show that you suspect them of anything, because he don't want to lose "customers". The SPS are only there to look like there is security there, when really there is 0. The lead SPS gets paid 9.00 but still it's not worth it. Then last but certainly not last, the front end supervisor. She doesn't do have the job. She doest nub or hard tag the clothes when they get returned, she rarely retickets the clothes, and she has the easiest. She works banker hours and lately has been having weekends off. she'll call in, and it's like no big deal she gets paid 8.50 . None of the full timers have got their yearly raise yet and they told us we wont get it till June or July! When everybody knew what others got paid the managers had a meeting with us and said if ANYTHING about raises or pay they get terminated. Because the two full timers who they call "supervisors" still get paid 7.50 while the others get paid more. The one thats screwed the most is the sales floor person, she closes every single night, she works the worst hours and gets used the most. I feel bad for her but just like all of us we need the job, the management know that and they use that against us!
This company is so F'd up, they have a lawsuit coming their way and they don't even realize it. Their treating their employees so badly they don't have any feeling, their like Ross robots. Don't buy things from here, the Store Manager finds old things and retickets them and sells them. They tell their employees don't give customers a hard time when returning items that aren't ours and that look badly used. If they could sell dust, they would! Don't work here and don't shop here!

I'm trying so hard to get out of there. When I find another job, I'm giving them an "effective immediately" notice. They don't deserve a two week notice. They've been on my butt about nothing. People have done worse things. Now they've been after me. According to them, I don't even do my job good enough. I should be doing more, for what, not for what I make. They are screwed up and I do hope they get sued over their treatment of employees. They treat their employees so bad that if all the employees had a case and they brought it to court, everyone can say bye bye Ross.

Ross Dress for Less employment of no english speaking staff

Please know that I am not a bigot, racal profiler, racist or ethnically biased.
I am American born citizen of immigrant people who came to this country, eager to learn & speak English and that English was the language of this country that has given them and their decedents a home in a land of free and equal people these many years.

With that said; I am greatly pained to send this letter of [major] complaint in reference to the hiring policy of above noted store in the West Kendall Miami suburban area.

My purpose and intent to visit the store was to return and replace an item purchased earlier in the week.

I was greeted in Spanish by Orfelina/ 714946 who proceeded to process the return by trained rote of the item and sales slip before her.
I was ready to pay for the exchange when she couldn't find the new item on the sales receipt.

I explained to her, in English that I was purchasing the item.

She had no idea of my words, intent or conversation.

It was at that time a co-manager stepped in an explained that Orfelina does not speak any English; And yet holds a speaking position, dealing with the public in an American owned corporate business in the United States of America, in a city that has a well above average unemployment rate, and further demands that every [American-Anglo] needs to be bi-lingual English-Spanish in order to secure any form of even the most menial, minimum wage employment here.

While I would never suggest that a job be denied to anyone who is seeking to work, none the less I do have to question that a non speaker of English is given a job dealing with the American public in an American owned company, over an out of work American citizen who may not be bi-lingual, and will not be considered for the same position.

As said, shame on you.

All Ross` employment documents and training videos are in both Spanish and English. So, they're endorsing it, but they can't refuse to train a select group of employees because of eeoc. Also policy requires cashier training. However, there's been incidents where foreign (non Spanish speaking) applicants
who spoke English, but couldn't read it didn't get hired because there were no forms in those languages. Had to pass up experienced workers because of this. Guess that's not discrimination.

Sorry, but the Citizenship test should come in only one language. If you want to live here, speak it.

It is ridiculous to expect the English speaking American to speak Spanish if the same condition for employment is not imposed on the non-English speaking Spanish potential employee. The policy should be for all--learn the language first, then we'll hire you. Our country is one of the few that feel it is somehow politically incorrect to expect the foreigner to learn our language. It's simply ridiculous!
