On 11 June 2025, at 3pm (LAX Airport) My wife and I followed the instructions given to pick up our prepaid rental car (PICK UP: Thank you for choosing Mex Rent a Car Los Angeles. Our office is conveniently located in the lobby of the Hyatt Regency hotel at 6225 W Century Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90045. Upon arrival please give us a call at +1(424)239-5099 for airport pick-up instructions. Our estimated pick-up time is between 15-30 minutes.) This phone number goes to a full voice mailbox. Another telephone number for contact was +52-33-4170-8243 which is a Mexico number with no answer. After some research, we found another telephone number 800-811-4672 which also goes to a full voice mailbox. We now decided to get our own transportation from the airport to the Hyatt Regency hotel to see if this rental car company exists. Once at the hotel lobby, we were directed to a small room with one desk and one employee. I was told my insurance (State Farm-full coverage) is not accepted and that I must purchase Mex rent a car insurance ($38/daily) and place a $2000 deposit. This was already paid in full with United vacation packages (Air/Hotel/Car) with credit card on 4 May 2025 for $2711.54 with Priceline Trip #799-980-385-18. Four other customers in the office were being told the same. This operation has all the warnings of SCAM and their was no way I would give $2000 deposit plus Mex insurance fees). My wife and I had to find a legit car rental agency and pay again for a car. We are asking for reimbursement of the Budget rental fee $386.38.
United Vacations say this is a Priceline.com issue since United went through Priceline.com and not United Vacations. MEX Rent a Car has stopped responding with my BBB complaint #ID: 23462122.

Claimed loss: $386.38

Desired outcome: We are requesting a refund for the Budget rental car fee since the MEX Rent a Car one man operation is obviously a scam.
