unauthorized withdrawal of funds
I did a reverse phone lookup on line with peoplefinders.com to look for a stolen bicycle.
The peoplefinders set up an account using the credit card information I gave for the 99 cent cost of the original search.
They have fraudulently withdrawn 24.95 from my account across state lines, on 3/17 and 4/19/2010.
I called to ask for a refund and they said their policy is not to give refunds. Please help.
privacy / financial fraud
SAVINGSACE gets personal and credit card information from PEOPLEFINDERS.COM.
They do not mention any of this, they do not provide the information promised, and the next thing you know, SAVINGSACE.COM has all your information and you are a member and they will take money until you stop them.
PEOPLEFINDERS.COM is the real criminal entity in my case.
But criminals they are, both companies

There should be class action lawsuit against peoplefinders.com and other fraud services. Let’s end publishing by these scammers of any person information without the person factual consent.
If you can find an attorney willing to take on the case on a contingency basis, I will gladly join you.
Hi, just wondering how you found out about this info? Was it on your credit card bill? This is the second mention of Savingsace.com being related to PeopleFinders.com (side note-which i've read elsewhere is owned (ultimately) by Warren Buffet?)
Scams often are built on a thread of credibility so I'd like to unravel this one to see what's what. Any details you can provide is very helpful. Thank You.
total scam
I first needed a phone for a lady who I needed to settle a civil court case with. After paying for the service they provided a few numbers none of which were correct. I also was in need to do some other checks on employees of mine and decided that it might be worth giving them another chance and really put them to the test. I purchased a membership as well as a bankground check on myself. Of course you have to give them your name and address when you set up your account. Well after spending $39.95 for a "comprehensive background check" on myself guess what they gave me as my report. My name and address. Not even my phone number that I provided them when I set up the account. If I wanted to look at possible criminal charges it was another $17.95 which I paid. Guess what? Not one report was me. All reports of people with different birthdates. Mixed races just trash. I mean come on $39.95 to give me back part of the information that I gave them. What a joke. The employees of this company should be wearing masks when they go to work as they are straight up thieves. I would never do business with if I was you. I have called my CC holder and filed for the charges to be reversed and would advise others to do the same. Buyer be aware!

These Peoplefiners.com scammers must be shut down a.s.a.p. I just "joined" in the last 2 weeks, wanting to run a check on a realtor I thought might be shady- ends up he was legit but this "company" was a fraud. Thing is, I did some homework before chosing them, very aware frauds are run of the mill online.
I 'Googled' up reviews for the best investigative background search and PeopleFinders.com (scam) came up as the best one of the top 5.
It's very clear the reviews of PeopleFinders.com are a fraud and obviously planted to build up positive review opinions from supposedly unaffiliated third party reviewers. Hook, line and sinker- and I'm a skeptic who trusts no one.
After joining their 'sale' 3-for-1 membership, I got no access to anything special I couldn't find by looking elsewhere- furthermore, my credit card was hacked later in the day and luckily Visa froze the account due to suspicious charges. The security representative told me my PeopleFinders charge was the likely cause (he's seen this before) and they're doing deeper check into it and will file a report in a few days. I'm so angry I haven't called them yet to "cancel" my "membership" but will do so soon, I can't wait to hear what dribble comes from their lips...
So, as you can see I won't be happy until PeopleFinders.com fraudsters are SHUT DOWN.
If you can retrieve a search then you are one of the few lucky success stories. Peoplefinders Customer Service is unwilling to listen and understand the issues or the problems and refer you to their small print. Their customer service can't even look up what type of plan that you purchased, they will insist that you only purchased the 24hrs plan, when you were charged for a more expensive plan. You need to understand their terms of use upfront - it boils down to YOU GET NOTHING FOR YOUR MEMBERSHIP. peoplefinders believe that they provide a website and you sign up to get a login to the website for a membership fee - the advertised free trial searches are non-existant - you will be billed no matter what happens with your search attempts. Even if your login does not work and does not allow you to complete a search - too bad; if your search does not provide any information or inaccurate outdated information - too bad, if you keep getting popups that say you don't have a membership after you paid on your credit card - too bad.
ripoff - read the fine print
I subscribed to the $20 plan in hopes of finding an old friend. Upon paying the fee - I did a search and received information that was basically useless. They gave me a jumbled list of former addresses without dates for each location - so I had no idea what the current or latest address was. The same is true regarding the few phone numbers that was provided. There was absolutely no info provided regarding marriages or divorces.
After sending them an email notifying them of my issues and suggestions for improvement - I was simply given what appeared to be an auto-reply email describing their disclaimer (conveniently tucked away in a small 'Terms of Use' link at the bottom of the page), which states that they cannot guarantee information being provided, which also states that there are no refunds. They then had the nerve to contact me on the phone trying to get me to buy something else.
Bottom line: The info I received was basically useless. Their site uses misleading information to get you to purchase one of their plans while riddling you with options to buy additional services on top of the one you're already buying. The full disclaimer is tucked away at the bottom of their webpage, contained within a 'Terms of Use' link. Acceptance of these terms must be assumed, as you are not prompted with the option to accept or decline the Terms of Use. Do not expect a productive exchange with their customer service.
I should also add that I did a search on my own name. My last address I was at for the past 4 years wasn't even showing up in the information they provided.
Same problem as described by other people just looking to find someone. I paid $1.95 for the results of the search and thought that was the end of that. The information was outdated and I did not 'find' the person I was looking for.
I have been charged for three months of fees so I called to get a refund. I explained that I did not sign up for a membership. The customer service rep told me that I went thru 3 screens and on the third one I agreed to something. I wanted the refund for 3 months but they gave me a refund for 2 month. The customer service rep told me to call my bank and ask them to get the charges reversed.
Same thing happened to me, only they charged my credit card $39.95 and refuse to refund. Two calls to customer service have done nothing. I wish I would have read this before I tried it.
Similar issue, was scammed. Did a search for a phone number of a friend and received a advertisement that peoplefinders had the information. Paid for a membership to obtain the information and then found could not access the report with the phone number due to peoplefinders errors and because their databases are old and outdated. Tried for several hours to get the information - frustrating and stupid waste of time. AVOID THEM! THEY HAVE AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE! Directory Assistance is a less expensive and more user-friendly option for a phone number.
YOu dumb ### idiot... don't you get it? nobody wants to be your friend. Next time, instead of paying a fee, GOOGLE IT. FOR FREE.
bad information
Used them twice for two different names. First search came up with name only no address or phone number. Second name came up with four addresses and phone numbers, all were out of date at least six years.
Here is their response when I requested a refund:
Most of the products on the Site come with a limited guarantee. This means that if your search does not return any results, we will provide you with another search, at no additional cost to you. The service is provided "as is." You are paying for us to conduct a search on your behalf, not to return any particular result. Information is often obtained by third parties and the accuracy of the information cannot be guaranteed, per our Terms of Use. Please contact Customer Care at the number below if you would like assistance with your searches. We do not offer refunds as stated in our Terms of Use. Thank you.
BUYER BEWARE!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
The information is not current and is unreliable. Information is out of date by over one year. If another link indicated that peoplefinders has the information - this is an advertising scam - read the small print at the peoplefinders website. It is like buying a $20 lottery ticket to see if maybe you will get lucky and find the person or a phone number or even be able to get onto there search website because it has constant uptime issues. BUYER BEWARE - be sure you understand the fine print in their terms of service. You may get nothing, no access to search information, no usable data, and they will still bill you. Never seen anything like this scam.
Sounds like the person you are searching for is off the grid. Peoplefinders can probably only return data that exists and consumers should be aware of this before dropping cash. Just because it didn't return expected results doesn't mean a service wasn't provided.
beware
Beware if the "free" reverse look up search you get on a phone number has details such as 'unavailable'. peoplefinders.com won't be able to provide ANY additional information. Know this going into it.
You will be paying for the exact information you got for free.
When I requested a refund because of this the support person stated "can't per terms and conditions". She did offer me 24 hours of 'free' people searching.
That isn't what I wanted, but maybe I'll look up myself.
This is a lesson learned.
Please watch and beware of these scams going forward.

withdrew money for account
Paid 1.99 to search name all I got was name no info. Was only supposed to be a one time fee of 1.99. Checked bank account and found charge of 19.99 on account for services I never signed up for. I only signed up for 1 time search fee.The site never said anything about a reward program for joining or that you had to cancel the account within 7 days. Company is a scam and should be put out of business for credit card fraud and unauthorized withdraws on peoples bank account. Company Phone Number is [protected]

online scam
Same complaint as Nicolina81 of March 24, 2008. I purchased services from People Finders via credit card. A week later Privacy Matters billed my credit card in the amount of $19.95 - unauthorized. I consider it an illegal act since I had never heard of Privacy Matters before. Like Nicolina81, the information that I did get from People Finders was worthless.
I have contacted my credit card company to protest the charges. I am still awaiting replies from People Finders and Privacy Matters. I am not a lawyer but I wonder if the unauthorized charge to my credit card violated any laws.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Same thing happened to me. the fraud department for my credit card said there is nothing I can do about it - they contacted Privacy matters and they were quick to pull up their record that I clicked a pop-up which they claim "clearly" explained how I would be charged. Total BS.
I was scammed by Peoplefinders.com and PRIVACYM the same way
online scam
I just tried to sign up for information on an individual and I gave all my information, including e-mail, password and Credit card info. As I submitted the information, My computer just froze up, and I realized it might be a scam. When I tried to log in and retrieve my info, it told me my e-mail address and password were invalid. I am afraid they have my credit card info on hand and I will contact my bank immediately to report it as a scam. Beware of this company.

The same...can I be protected from credit card abuse? This website should be baned! How can we get help from fraud like this?
I can't get my membership canceled. How do I get out of peoplefinders?I canceled prior to the end of my free term, but still got charged.
unauthorized credit card charges
Don't fall for their "$10 Cash Back" offer when ordering search results. To get your $10 back, you have to buy into a membership service called "24 Protect Plus". I did, and I wish I never had. The Internet is full of complaints about this service - including complaints on this board. Most of the complaints have to do with them charging your credit card without permission. Now I'm worried that they will do the same thing to my card. When I tried to contact them to cancel everything, they said they had no record of my order! I wish I'd researched them before I ordered, or better yet, just used a reputable search company like intelius.com.
Withdrew $24.95 from checking account and provided no information
It's funny that I read this... I just dealt with 'Jennifer' also. Instead of fixing my problem she offered to cancel me and cut me off before I could even finish what I was saying. 'Jennifer' should be fired.
Nate, I am not impressed with your superficial response. I filed a BBB complaint today as a result of a VERY bad experience with a Jennifer (who claimed to be acting under a directive from Rob Miller). I received a report that did not include the person on the search list and I had to prove this before I even got an answer. Thinking I may have made a mistake, I searched and paid for the report twice. I DID manage to get a refund for the second report but had to argue to get the proper information I originally searched for. Then, Jennifer made it all fall apart by sending the ORIGINAL report after customer service and I had it all ironed out - she is a rude and condescending person! Because of her, I have NO use for PeopleFinders.com!
Hi, I'm sorry to see you had a bad experience with PeopleFinders.com. Did you receive a blank report, or did you not get the information you were looking for? Either way, please email me at pr@peoplefinders.com and I will do my best to help you.
Thanks,
Nate
the charge 3 payments for same order, no help getting info, no refund, hard to get in touch with.
I was scammed by peoplefinders. Their customer service is poor and unresponsive. They will say NO REFUNDs, look at the fine print! So what if you can't find a phone number, can't get into our system, can't retrieve any records - they don't care. Their customer service gets paid to refer you to their Terms of Use fine print. In fact, they don't care that you never we able to benefit from their service due to access issues or invalid or not-found information. Think you should get a refund - Forget it - there are NO REFUNDS. Peoplefinders Terms of Use includes: " YOU AGREE TO PAY ALL AMOUNTS DUE UPON OUR DEMAND." Disclaimer: 'WE DO NOT PROMISE THAT THE SITE WILL BE ERROR-FREE OR UNINTERRUPTED, THAT IT WILL PROVIDE SPECIFIC RESULTS FROM USE OF THE SITE OR ANY CONTENT, SEARCH, OR LINK ON IT, OR THAT THE INFORMATION ON THE SITE IS COMPLETE OR ACCURATE'
I used this site and ended up a member of "Valuemax", they charged me $19.95 a month for "membership" and when I called them to find our what it was, even the person on the phone did not even know what their services were. I never received one thing from them but that charge was there faithfully every month. I got them to remove two of the charges and reported them to the Attorney Generals office and the Justice Dept. and if they don't remove the rest of the charges I am going to call our local troubleshooter TV station and let them explain on National television exactly what they sell. I've never been able to find out.
I have used your website several times in the past but the last time I used the website not only was all the info totally outdated, but I wound up having charges on both of my listed credit cards/bank cards from its affiliates that i did not authorize. I wrote to complain after the 1st time but got no response.. now i just had to call and cancel another one and the rep stated it was authorized from your website too.
I find this very disconcerting and misleading. I will no longer be using your services and will be forwarding my complaint to the proper channels .
I thought that this is where I check to find out why I have not receved an E-mail reply regarding my search. I paid $2.95 or the search.
Please advise as to whom I should contact.
Thank you.
FWM
I PAID 39.95 ON MY CREDIT CARD FOR INFORMATION ABOUT MY BROTHER'S CURRENT ADDRESS. HIS NAME IS JAMES FORDE HE IS 62 YEARS OF AGE. HE LIVES IN PENNSYLVANIA. I HAVE NOT RECIEVED ANY RESULTS. I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR FROM YOU.
total scam - was sold outdated information
I paid $19.95 for their "1 Day Search Pass" - only to discover that all 99% of their results are either outdated or freely available at other sites like zabasearch.com and addresses.com! And then they make it very difficult to get a refund - I still haven't received mine. Don't waste your money with this site - they sell you information that is available for free. Total scam!
This company is quick to access your bank account even if you have asked that the account be cancelled within the time frame they offer. There seens to be very little recourse once this takes place. Their customer service reps are no help; they have a lot of "wiggle" room when it comes to you requesting your money back. DONOT USE THEIR SERVICES UNLESS YOU HAVE MONEY TO GIVE AWAY
Rip off! Do not use this company unless you want to be billed $24.95 monthly. Even though you only agree to paying 95 cents online, there is small print about receiving a free 3/1 member ship and as soon as you hit the continue button you will be charged.Rip off! Do not use this company unless you want to be billed $24.95 monthly. I used People Finders.com for one phone number and was charged .95. OK-fine. But, then a few days later they took it upon themselves to deduct $24.95 from my bank account for an auto renewal membership fee! I had no idea this was going to happen! I called the company and was not given any customer satisfaction what so ever. When I called and spoke with a service rep and asked for my account number/name, I don't have one! So how can I have a membership without an account? I have filed a formal complaint with the BBB and also posted a public warning on my FB account. I have warned everyone to BEWARE these bait and switch scams, and/or make sure you understand (hopefully) what services you're going to be charged for when giving your credit card number. And/or cancel anything and everything immediately after placing any on-line order!
I used White pages for a phone number and was routed to People Finders for charges. I approved a charge of $0.95 to my credit card and declined the so-called membership of $24.95 but was charged a couple of days later for same and was appraised of this by my credit card company. When I called the Peoples Number 800 number on file and spoke with an attendant, I was told that since I did not cancel within the allowed 3 day trial period, I could not cancel. I told them I tried to cancel as soon as I found about the unauthorized charge but could not as it was the weekend. Then I told them I would not approve the charge and they offered to cancel the automatic renewal charge which is also bogus so they offered a 50% reduction which I also refused to pay. I am awaiting a call from a supervisor but not holding my breath. PEOPLE FINDERS ARE EITHER CORRUPT, MIS-LEADING OR FRAUDULENT BUT SHOULD BE REPORTED AND AVOIDED IF POSSIBLE. Wayne T. Lake [protected]
Website provides inaccurate and inadequate information as well as charge credit cards unknowingly. Customer service is rude and not helpful at all starting from email to Supervisor Sarah at direct number [protected]. SCAM
This business is beyond shady. To be removed from their site, they require that you send them MORE information than is already there...Then they turn around and put that that information into their database. If you then want this information "permanently" removed from the web, you have to use their site, optout.com and pay to have them remove it! Call them and demand to speak to Mr. Miller or Mr. Lane!
People Finders is a scam. I paid .95 for a email. and then they started to charge me $24.95 a month for a service I never signed up for. I canceled the service but they refuse to credit me. STAY AWAY from People Finder.
you people have just scammed me big time. i do not appreciate it and will be canceling all charges made to my acount with my bank. you guys are fruds and should not be on cumputer access if you are not going to follow through with your records
People finders is a complete sham.
I just did a search on myself and found that they listed people as my relatives that no one in our family have ever heard of. Bill collectors are using this site to harrass people. I 5 to 6 calls a night from collectors looking for several of the people listed as my relatives. I have not clue who these people are and now as soon as the caller asked for one of them I hang up the phone. I have tried to explain to the collectors I don't know these people, doesn't work. I wish I could sue People finders so maybe they would at least try to put correct into on their site.
This may sound like a broken record but Peoplefinders said that automatic monthly renewals are disclosed in the on line subscription pages. If that's so they hid it well because I always look for that stuff. When I called to get a refund they told me not to "talk to them like that". No profanity, no insults, just a stern statement to either cancel the charge or deal with my credit card cocmpany. It's okay for them to scam you, but please don't be angry with them. RIGHT!
charge me twice for wrong information!
I subscribed through Reunion.com to locate Rita Milton of Youngstown Ohio and was routed to PeopleFinders.com to get information. When I entered the results of the search information for the person with the age that I entered I was processed through charges to my credit card and was sent information with the name sought but excluding the requested city and state while giving information for other cities and states. When I attempted to go back to get the right information the window was closed and I was directed to the location for being charged again for the information that I was supposed to get the first time. The charge was already attached to my credit card.
AND NOW I SEE THAT they WANT TO CHARGE ME TO!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
This website double charged me card when I had signed up it had said it was 95 cents but I just got charged two days ago $19.95 from my debit card this website is a total scam and I want my money back
i WANT TO CANCEL MY MEMERSHIP RIGHT AWAY.
MONDAY 1/9/2023 I SIGNED UP FOR A 7 day trial membership-
Need your help to cancel my 7 day membership. Thanks!
I was charged 24.95 when I already cancelled account it was useless
Interesting. Some scumbag stole my credit card number about 3 weeks ago which I caught instantaneously as I'm signed up for alerts should any charge go on my card. Today, PeopleFinders tried to charge the now-canceled card not once, but twice! Such ethics astound me, you thieves.
I have been continually charged for a service that I did not want. I asked for a search over a year back, and somehow got on a monthly charge. Please stop that charge and reimburse me for those many months that I did not use the service.

We were notified by our VISA bank that we had suspicious charges. These charges were $9.95 and two charges of .50 cents each. We had to cancel and now without a card for the holidays!
14.95 was taken off my card and i had already conceal my member ship. They took money with out my permission
Samething happened to me.. I was looking for one person I got an address and phone number when I typed in the phone number they charged me again.. when I called I was told I did a
Reverse look up all the info that I got was the same as I got without using people's finder.
I used people finders once and the next month they charged my credit card 24.95 twice. Please don't use this website. On top of that I did not get the information I was looking for. They told me they would refund my money but they never did. PLEASE RUN FROM THIS WEBSITE!
After using their service to try to find somebody, they signed me up for a monthly service of 24.95. Beware of the scam!
DON'T USE THIS SERVICE!

You will probably get nowhere with their customer service. They will continue to reiterate they have NO REFUNDS and point you to read their TERMS of SERVICE which states that they don't have to deliver any service to you. Doesn't matter to them if you were overbilled and didn't receive the service. They will continue to refer you to the NO REFUND Policy. I'm sorry that I didn't see your post before I gave them my credit card info. Regret ever using them
