On or around December 21, 2024, I was in New York on vacation and I took a bike taxi from Cental Park to Times Square, when the ride was over the person stated the fee was $50 and I tapped my card on his phone but when I got back home and got a notification that I had insufficient funds I looked at my account and was charged $693.75 from POLATNYCPDKP Fairview NJ. I called the bank and was advised that my card was charged $550.00 and then they charged a tip for the rest. I was advised by the agent that she would submit my claim as fraud since I didn't authorize that amount so they credited back the money to my account. She said it could take a week or so before I hear anything. About a week later I view my account and they debited the money back from my account because they stated it wasn't enough information submitted to make a decision. They sent me notification to complete 7 questions and submit to them which I did and didn't hear anything back from them until I contacted them again in May on that status by that time all the messages that transpired was no longer on my dashboard as if I never filed a claim. May 30th 2025, I sent another message asking about the status, then they tell me I should have filed my claim as a dispute so that's what I did and then July 1, 2025 I get a message saying that NFCU was unable to recover payment, therefore this matter will be considered resolved. They suggested that I continue to seek resolution directly with the merchant. This is just unbelievable because any monies that is taken from my account without my permission should be covered under FDIC. How am I supposed to resolve this with the merchant when there wasn't any information given but the name POLATNYCPDKP, Fairview NJ. I did everything that was asked of me by NFCU, I don't have money to give to a merchant that stole money from my card.
Claimed loss: $693.75
