Buyer Beware: Our Experience with MI Homes
Even though MI Homes may seem like a good deal—and I’m sure not every homeowner has had a bad experience—our community has faced serious issues that future buyers should be aware of.
The biggest problem? MI Homes is simply not responsive when it comes to warranty claims or fixing problems they caused during construction. Their lack of oversight has led to widespread issues in our 100-unit neighborhood, including:
Plumbing problems affecting multiple homes
Microwaves failing due to improper installation
Defective AC units and poor installation practices
Unfinished drainage systems and unleveled grounds
A promised pond fountain that was not installed
These aren’t just minor inconveniences—they’re costly problems that homeowners are left to deal with, often just a few years after moving in. Imagine facing thousands of dollars in repairs for an AC unit that’s barely three years old.
Once MI Homes hands over the property, their support becomes nearly nonexistent. Their lack of accountability is frustrating and unacceptable.
I’m not saying all builders are bad, but based on our experience, I would not recommend MI Homes to anyone—no matter how beautiful the homes may look. If you do choose them, be prepared to handle major issues on your own.
Recommendation: DO NOT BUY FROM MI HOMES
