Long John Silver's bad service/wrong order

On Wed. Sept. 10th at about 5 pm
I drove to Long John Silvers at 55 Honey Creek Parkway for a $4.99
coupon special, 2 pieces of fish, 2 sides and 2 hush puppies. Since I did not get a receipt I cannot tell you the store number.
I repeated my order several times before she got it right. I pulled
around to the take-out window and waited, there were no cars behind me,
and very few people inside. I waited 10 or 15 minutes, by which time
there were 2 cars behind me. I gave the attendant my coupon and $5 and
some change. I knew the baked potato would cost an extra $.50. She
told me it would cost more than $7, so I asked her if my order was
filled correctly. She called a manager over and they put their heads
together a minute, them she accepted my $5.87 for the meal. She handed
me the sack and when I pulled around the corner I checked to make sure
the slaw was in the sack, too many times it has been left out. When
I got home I started to unpack the food to put it on a plate when I saw
the fish was small and there were 3 pieces. I realized it must be
chicken. I was hungry so I ate 2 and threw the last one away then called
the store and asked for the manager. A woman answered very loudly,
speaking so fast it was barely recognizable English. She said she was
the manager. I explained the situation and she told me next time I came
to Long John's to tell the attendant I had 2 pieces of free fish coming
to me.I
believe the manager and the girl at the window knew they were giving me
the wrong order, but by that time things were getting busy and they
decided to just pass it off. The so-called manager answered the phone
unlike any manager I've ever heard. Then to tell me I can come back and
get 2 pieces of fish, without offering me a meal is offensive. Good
management skills, correct customer service and a polite apology go a
long way to soothing a customers ruffled feathers. This one had none of
the qualifications.And the Corporate Offices...well, what fun it is to try to contact that bunch. Perhaps you should consider training the managers and publishing your e-mail address for the public. I await your polite reply with bated breath...Janice Garey

We were looking forward to eating at Long John Silver's at LaGrange Kentucky since that is the closest one to us. We stopped in after going to our grandson`s football game. The service was horrible, the food was warm but not hot like it was just cooked. The girl that took our order was barely audible, and she didn't even ask if we wanted to order drinks. I guess she thought we would just choke our food down. I finally said I wanted a small coffee so she handed me a cup to serve myself. I got my coffee from the coffee thermos...it was cold so I told her I wanted hot coffee. She took it and heated it in the microwave. My husband said he didn't get a cup for his drink. I went back up to get it and the other lady asked me what size he ordered. I said I didn't know. She goes back to look at the order and said he didn't order one. I said she didn't ask if we wanted drinks. I told her wanted a small drink and she rang it up for the drink. I told her she shouldn't even charge for it. No apologies for messing up our order..no emotions or smiles whatsoever. This place needs new management. Probably not going back there. I'll go to Captain Dees.

Long John Silver's disgusting food & horrible serice

First, the cashier brought us our food, but said she would be back with the shrimp. No customer wants to receive half of what they ordered. The food is overly breaded, super greasy, and well it just tasted horrible. The containers for sauces were too tiny to dip the overly breaded fish/shrimp into as well. My husband & I took a couple bites of every thing & basically boxed it up & fed it to our dog. Worst quality of 'fast food' seafood ever! You guys seriously need a new recipe or order your frozen foods elsewhere! I want my money back. This was not worth $23.22 for a couple bites. We couldn't stomach the rest. I spent most of my time trying to peel off the breaded crap on the shrimp, just to try to eat it. I was starving because I hadn't ate in 2 days from pure exhaustion from working overtime at my job, so you would think a person would eat just about anything when they are hungry!

We stopped at LJS last friday, [protected], for a family pack to go, of fish and fries. When we got it home which took about 5 minutes, We found an oily mess of fish. The hush puppies were excellent, the slaw was great & the fries were ok. I couldn't eat the soggy oil soaked fish, even after patting the oil with a paper towel, which soaked the paper towel. The last time we ordered this was about a month earlier and it was about the same, way to oily. Anyone who knows anything about cooking fish knows that it must be cooked at a correct temperature and if it is it will not be greasy. Long John Silvers has changed something in the past year or so, but it is for the worse. It will take me awhile to try it again in the future.

Long John Silver's nasty food

We have went to the Clintwood Virginia Long John Silvers 3 times since they have "remodeled". First trip it was a nice clean newly done Long Johns but the manager was really rude and snippy, 2ND time the Chicken was dripping grease the 3rd time the fries looked and tasted re dropped and the Hush puppies were so greasy we took a paper towel and squeezed and it was soaked in it. Everyone knows it is 30 bucks for the 12 piece meal we were unable to eat.They were not even busy! i was the only one there. We will not go back and we want our money back too!

Long John Silver's dirty-needs remodeled-building old

This Long Johns restaurant has been at the Moundsville, W V location for many years and seems to do a good business. I do not understand why the company has let this place get so dirty and rundown that it is very hard to eat a meal inside because of its condition. It is so dirty from ceiling to floor that I am surprised the health department doesn't shut it down. Sometimes the fish is so greasy that I use napkins to blot up the grease and that tells me that the equipment in there is old, too. There is no reason for this.
I hope that this complaint gets into the right hands and that they clean up/or remodel the place. Thank You

Long John Silver's surcharge to debit/credit

Surcharge applied to your credit card - for debit. My card has both debit and credit features I was not given a choice like many other legitimate business asks and was assessed.39 cents service charge. When I asked about the situation the young lady behind counter said sorry it just charges it I dont have way to change it.

Also trying to get on line at long john silvers website - impossible and reading from many complaints I can see why they dont want you to be able to access their website.

This seems like a prime opportunity for a class action lawsuit - any takers?

Long John Silver's poor management/front line

Waited on out food for over 20 minutes while several other customer's orders were completed. Part of order was sitting out while they were cooking onion rings. We were given 2 biscuits for our lengthy wait - hardly worth it. We paid $17.64 for our order & expected a little more than what we received in the Customer Service dept. We were not given a receipt, so when I asked for one they gave me a blank piece of register tape with sweepstakes phone number on the back. When I called that number for complaint it asked me for transaction number, so I asked again for a duplicate receipt & they said they did not know how to do it. I approached front line workers 6 times because of no utinsils, no plates, no condiments, & no receipt. Finally someone from back line came up (asst mgr?) & dug receipt out of trash & told me that there were no onion rings made all day & that's what took so long. This was at 6pm. No apology, no discount, no referral number to complain to. They did not know how to print a duplicate receipt & had no drive to ask anyone how. By the time we finally got our food I was so upset I couldn't even enjoy it. Very disappointed in our service & will NEVER go back to this location. If this guy was the Asst Mgr he should not have been hiding out-he should have addressed the problem from the start & reolved it.

Long John Silver's very unhappy customer at this point

At the Drive-Thru I ordered a Super Sampler, asked that it not be cooked too crispy! At window food was ready as soon as I paid! I knew that wasn't right #1! As I drove off I reached in sack and yes...my Food was near cold! Fries do not get cold that fast for 1! Nor the rest! If I had not gotten so mad at that point I would have turned around and let them KNOWN about it! But I do not re-order food for the purpose of trust! I feel that the food was pre-cooked for the end of the night ! It was NOT cooked specifically as I ordered...FOR SURE! Very Unhappy customer at this point! I think you're right. When I order food at 10:29 and the restaurant is closing at 10:30 I still feel my food should be as fresh as if I ordered when the restaurant first opened. You have a valid complaint and hope that you get your money back.But ALWAYS check for mucus !

Long John Silver's poor drive-thru time/poor food quality

Went to ljs on 11/02/2012, during lunch hour. (Time on ticket is 12:28 pm) overly-long wait in drive-thru. I have worked fast food during lunch... We would get yelled at if we let a customer sit in drive-thru that long. I could hear on the speaker the employee being rude to the people in the car ahead of me. They were happy to take my money at the window, took another 5 minutes to get my food after paying. Got home and my chicken plank-coating wasn't all cooked. Very unappetizing to have to scrape that off in order to eat the rest of it. It will be a long time before I visit that ljs again. I won't hold this against the other locations... Unless I need to.

Long John Silver's short changed

after i sat at my table i was putting my money back in my purse and noticed she didn't give me enough money back. i told her about it and she said they would have to count the money in the register. they took it to the back and then came out and told me the register wasn't over so i didn't give the amount i said i did. my receipt said i gave them correct change but if i did why would they give me 3.00 back and why would i complain about that. i asked to speak to manager and she said i was, i asked if there was anyone else i could talk to and she said the district manager was there so she got rude and said i wasn't getting any money back. if she was who she said she was then why did she look so unprofessional? she was nasty. i didn't get my money back but i will never eat there again so in the long run they will lose more money than i did because i ate there several times a week and i have a big family. your loss ljs!

Long John Silver's lack of service

On 7-25-12 at 1:41pm I walked into the Long John Silvers in Canonsburg. I was on my way back to my office after a meeting. I thought it would be nice to bring lunch back to my office. It took until 1:46 to be waited on. There was no cashier at the register, but you could hear people laughing in the back of the store. I placed my order with Danielle who then proceeded to yell into the back someone else had better come out and wait on customers because there were several in line behind me. I then had to sit down due to the extremely long wait time for my order. I waited over 20 minutes and no one still gave me my paid for order. Upon inquiring the young lady in the kitchen window she stated "my order has been sitting in the window for over 10 minutes and someone needs to give it to me because she could not because she was cooking. This young lady was not professional. After finding out that my order sat in an open box in their window with employees breathing into it I cx'd my order. It was at this time the manager finally came out. His name was Angelo. I had to ask him for a refund due to the in-actions of his staff. He refunded my order and I left. Keep in mind it is now after 2pm and I did not have a lunch after all of this. I will never nor do I suggest to anyone who lives in the Peters/Canonsburg area to eat at this business. The staff is very unhappy and does not want to even wait on their paying customers. Such a shame

Long John Silver's very dissappointed!

Used to go to Long John silvers all the time. Finally went back when I seen the commercial for the thick cut. Couldn't wait to try! Got there they wouldn't except any coupons for the thick cut, even though it said any variety platter! Needless to say our bill was $22.05 for two people! Broccoli bites, chicken plank & crab cake was very good for the money. Should have got regular fish platter than the thick cut. I could have put two halves of a regular piece of fish on top of each other & got a bigger piece of fish! Only got two bites out of each thick cut piece of fish & cost 8.99 for the dinner each and only had 6 french fries & slaw bowl felt empty, not even filled! I believe in cutting back back that was a total rip off, and were still hungry! Not only that, I just can't believe it, but in our favor, kept my mouth shut. Their signs all over said $8.99 for dinner (new Special) & $1.49 for the lemonade strawberry freeze drink. Needless to say she rings up .99 for the freeze and $16.98 for two dinners. They can't even get their prices to match the computer register! OMG they are idiots. Will never ever go there again and will surely spread the news via email, facebook, twitter, and etc. if they don't make this right for me and my fiance! Store#31164

Long John Silver's thick cod basket

The pieces of fish were very small. No cole slaw was included. We had to buy the cole slaw as an extra item. We ended up paying a lot more than the $5.99 per basket. Was really disappointed! Everything in the basket was smaller than on a normal fish dinner.

No where on their site says the coleslaw was included. Sure, the picture from the site has coleslaw and hushpuppies in it but their baskets says that they include Basket Combos include Natural-Cut Fries and a Medium fountain drink. Coleslaw and hushpuppies are listed on the sides page. Also, the cod looks small on the site but are thick.

I just purchased three of their newer thicker fish dinners, two baskets and one platter. I had one of these about two weeks ago

And it was delicious so i was looking forward to it. As my daughter took a bite of fish she brought her plate back and said it had

On Thurs.4/12/12 my mother and were at our restaurant in Bryan, TX. Store # 31294. We got there at 12:42, ordered and the ONLY table empty was DIRTY, for lack of better word. Drink was spilled on the floor in the isle, on table, under table. I had to go and get someone and tell them about the floor before someone slipped. The man did come clean up the floor. Never looked at the table OR the seat full of drink. I cleaned it up myself. It was not BUSY. There were people straggling in a few at a time. BUT NO MEANS A RUSH of crowd. Maybe now I know why. The floor was dirty ALL over the store, which I checked out after we sat down to finally eat. The attendants working were LOUD talking among themselves. Even my 82 yr. old mother, who is hard of hearing made a comment about how loud they were. Long John Silvers you get a BIG FAT "F" marymakers@gmail.com

Long John Silver's service and business practice

Carry out order was incomplete and when I called to complain was told to come back and get the item. I told the person on the phone that it was a 25 mile round trip for me and that I would not be coming back to get it today. She said the next time I was in town to stop by and they would give me the piece of chicken that was short in the order. I told her that I did not get the senior discount and she told me I have to ask for it - they don't post a sign that one is offered and their employees do not ask of you are eligible for one so --- HOW IS THE CUSTOMER TO KNOW THAT ONE IS AVAILABLE! THIS RESTAURANT CHANGE NEEDS MAJOR MAJOR REVAMPING!

Long John Silver's poor quality of food

We happened to go to Long John Silvers, City square mall branch, Singapore on the 12th of Jan, 2012 and I have no qualms about saying that I was astounded by the poor quality of the food served to us. We had ordered "fresh grilled salmon" and "crispy fried shrimp". The salmon was by no means "fresh" and tasted bland. The "crispy" prawn were limp and looked as well as tasted like it was made yesterday! We would never again visit nor recommend it to anyone. Ever!

Long John Silver's pass the sauce bar test ljs!

This week I had an opportunity to visit your loction on Walzem Road in San Antonio, TX. When I walked in I noticed something new. You have the Sauce Bar. It was great! I liked the new tartar sauce, its a great change from the usual stuff. When I was talking to one of your employees and how much I liked all the choices, she told me that it was only a test and that it would be taken out of the resturant! A test? Well I hope its one that has passed! The look is a much cleaner and a more sanitary option then what I usually see in LJS's. I hope you continue to offer the Sauce Bar and extend it to all locations.

I was a bit disapointed however in the over all condition of this store. It has not been re-modeled like the one that I normaly go to on West Ave @ Blanco Rd also in San Antonio. I think the Walzem store is in need of an update. I want to thank you for having such nice employees and good food. I have always loved Long John's Silver's and will continue to visit you.

I would really like it if the Sauce Bar continues to be a feature at all your stores.

Long John Silver's poor service, rude employee

On Sunday 9/25/2011 at 1pm my husband and child bought our food and when I called them to find out how much it was and if they were on the way back home they told me the total and it was wrong. We ordered (3) family packs that were $10.00 a piece but the cost was $42.79 so I called them and told them there was an error and that my husband was on his way back, the manager Haley said that the error was caused by a new girl working the register. Approximately 45 minutes later my husband walked back out to the car after they finally got the receipt *corrected* to our waiting food and drove home, where they reached our house with now soggy luke warm food and upon inspection of receipt I found that it was still in error. We had as I said ordered (3) family packs but were charged for extra orders of corn and coleslaw which we did not order. When I called to complain I talked to the manager Haley who said that we received the extra corn and coleslaw so the charges on the ticket should stand, and I said, "no, I did not order extra corn and coleslaw and it is not right because of your error that I pay for food that was not ordered, we ordered (3) family packs which come with eight pieces of fish, hushpuppies and one side a piece, just because you put in extra food in our sack does not mean we pay for your error and that I wanted it corrected." She refused. The manager Haley told me that she would do no such thing and that I should call back tomorrow, and I said, no I wanted this corrected today as my family is on a budget and this was a special treat for us but I could not afford to pay extra due to incompetence. She got mad and said that she would do nothing and that she was calling her boss, I asked for the district managers and corporates phone number she said that a district manager or corporate office does not exist and refused to give it to me. I was stunned that the error was completely on their part and LJS MANAGER simply refused to give me my money back when they make an error. I thought it best that I let her talk to her boss and told her that I would call back in a half an hour where I expected to be righted for her error. The manager Haley said that her boss would not give us a refund but would only give us ONE family pack as compensation, I said no this was not good enough and I wanted a full refund as the food was now bacteria ridden trying to right their error which has taken over two hours to correct and I would not feed it to my family and an eleven year old and she said that it was my fault then and refused to give me money back. I told her I would bring all the food back (because she said we probably ate it already, basically calling me a liar when I had said that I would not feed the food to my family) and I wanted a refund, she said she would have her boss call me so I gave her my phone number and I received no call back as of yet. So I paid $34.60 to be treated with poor service, bad attitude and disdain because LJS employee and manager.

I want to thank complaintboard.com for removing the offensive remarks from the bogus name person and I commend them on seeking to make this website as it was intended. I cannot imagine how hard it must be to monitor a whole website to be sure that there are valid complaints and valid commenters; It shouldn’t be their job to monitor that others are behaving appropriately but they took my concern and addressed it and for that I am appreciative.

I came back to this website to do one thing (in case anyone else should be helped by my comments/complaint in the future) and that is to update that my complaint against Long John Silver’s has concluded in that I took all the uneaten food back and was given a refund. I leave this situation feeling that a customer should not have to jump through hoops when an employee (and especially a manager) treats a customer poorly when they themselves created the situation because they do not train properly as was evidence when the trainee was left at the register unattended and then when the manager herself in trying to correct the situation charged me for food that I did not order. I’m disappointed with the service and attitude of Long John Silver’s and will never go there again.

As for the other comments here that I see do not stop… I feel very valid in my original complaint and I feel saddened that this website that I feel mainly is populated by adults with a joint effort to help one another has a few immature and hateful people that only goal is to take hours of their day to make many fake names and fill other’s comment page with belittling, defamatory and hate-filled remarks that are not constructive nor helpful. Hopefully the admin on this website will remove all these vile comments here but if not then I choose not to waste my time further. There are more important things to do in life than harass and hurt others; I hope that one day you recognize that fact.

Well this too will pass. I am not going to fight your, the bogus name person or this company further. I feel I was treated poorly and I feel for other customers and thought my comments would benefit someone down the road. It is too bad that it has been less helpful here and more about silly people playing silly games. I do thank Pennygone for being the one person here with some constructive advice.

I sent an email that I found on bottom of page. I know that it does sound suspicious but I am assuming that the admin on website can see that it is two different IPs. I am sorry you feel the way you do but there is little I can do or say to change your mind, hopefully the admin can assist.

Long John Silver's poor service/customer service/cleanliness

Dear Long John Silvers,

I am writing to you about my recent visit, and experience that my boyfriend and I think you should be aware of. On Friday, April 15, 2011, after a long day, we were both starved. We drove by 2 other restaurants, and then decided to go into your store location #31691 located at 4916 Airway Rd in Dayton, Oh.

Upon entering, we were immediately greeted and asked for our order. I told the cashier that I’d like a second. This was no problem. I placed an order for 2 shrimp dinners, and then decided to order 3 extra pieces of fish to go with the order. The fish were ringed up separately. We paid for the orders, and proceeded to sit at one of the round top tables and wait for our order. About 2 minutes later a girl came to the counter and told us the fish were done. I explained that they went with the 2 shrimp dinners. She gave me a snarled look, threw the fish on the counter and shoved it back. Then, she walked away with a sour face.

While this was taking place, my boyfriend went to use the rest room. Upon entering, he says, he was overcome from the urine smell, urine all around the urinal, No paper towels, but trash and paper towels all over the floor, the trash can was over filled. We both saw a large female black girl mopping the rear dining area. As we both have worked in restaurants, we know how closing can be. But we both agree that the girl mopping probably should have swept the floor first. Because as she was slinging the mop, the food on the floor was going everywhere. The tables in the front of the store didn’t look like they had been cleaned for some time. The store looked like it really needed some cleaning. EVERYWHERE.

When we got home, the fish was cold, but the shrimp warm. We both had NO coleslaw with our shrimp dinners. And I was not able to contact anyone at the store as they were now closed.

I have thought about calling the Health Department, but thought that I should just write a letter to you about the locations need for a good cleaning. Kinda glad I didn’t see the kitchen….. I LOVE Long John Silver’s and they’ve been around since I was young. I can remember the first one in my neighborhood. We would like to visit again. But are Leary of this location. There isn’t another one around for miles.

I hope that this helps your manager at this store realize that people want what they pay for. And how important it is for a restaurant to be clean and the associates to be pleasant. Even if they don’t want to be there.

Long John Silver's employer employee relations

I am writing this complaint because I want every person to beware how rgt management treats their employees. My husband had worked for the long john silvers branch of rgt for over a year and the store he took over had been in the postive since he has been there. Yesterday he was told with no warning what so ever that his location was going to be closed due to lack of profitabilty the following day. He was then assured that he would still have a job because they were opening 4 other locations and he was not made to give back his keys or anything else normally involved when someone is terminated. He was then informed that he needed to call a meeting of his entire staff to let his boss the dm decide who would be kept and who would be let go. In no way was his presence requested or demanded at said meeting. he however decided to attend the meeting to support his staff during this difficult time. When he arrived at the meeting his dm sat down with each of the employees and kept none of them completely against what was told to him about the employees and their positions. He was then sat down by the dm and told that his services were no longer needed, which was a complete and utter suprise to my husband since he had been assured that his job was safe. He then asked for his final paycheck which is required of employers in the state of missouri and they told him he would have to wait for final payroll to be closed out at the end of the week. I want to make it very clear that rgt management is a deplorable business with despicable business practices. They lie, have no problem breaking state laws and do very shady underhanded deals and then say the ends justify the means. I understand business is business but there comes a time when that is taken too far and in my opion this is one of those times.

Long John Silver's rude manager

My wife and I went out to eat at he east 47th St south Long John Silvers. We had been there many times over the years, but this time we went in for her birthday meal. When we came up to the counter the manager took our order, and we called his attention to a hair on the counter by the register, and that is when he went off on us a told us if we did not like it we could leave. So we asked for our money back and left.
We are following this up with many complaints this is unheard of anywhere. We have turned this into the Wichita Health Dept nad will take it as high as we can to get satisfaction. Be aware of people who work for you that have no business working anywhere.
We told him the customer is always right, and he told us not here. He was unbelievably rude and hateful. I am 72 years old and have never been treated in such a horrible manner. Kids these days have no respect for their elders.
By the way I love LJS food it is a shame you are represented by such awful help. My hope is that you will correct this. Please let us know so we can again attend your fine fast food place.

We had same issue with Long John Silver in South Mall @ Smoky Hills & Main in Aurora Colorado. We ordered carry out four Fish tacos and got only three. When we called them first they refused to admit and once they agreed upon they said we are not going to credit your card, you have to be hear in the store to get another taco.. Very Rude Customer Service...Very Rude Manager if she was a manager (TOA REE.) May be she didn't like us becuase we were non -whites.
