We bought our DVD Player/Recorder RH387-M in October last year(2008). At first everything was working fine, but after 2 months we started to get some problems; the DVD player would not read anymore discs. We called the company about this, and they sent us an email about not being able to qualify for their services despite saying on the phone that this is a very common problem with this specific model.
So for two months we were able to record onto dvd's, but little did we know that these dvds would not be readable for any other type of dvd player, we tried at least 4 different brands.
Now, not even 1 year after buying the product, all the functions are off and the DVD, for almost $300, is garbage.
Never buy any products from LG - Life is Good only for LG and not for their customers.

I have this model for 3 + years now and never got this issue, the unit is running very hot so i was getting a lots of freezing in summer time, i got tire and i add a HDD dual fan to cool the unit, i made i square hole on top of the unit and hook up the fan through the HDD connector, since i did that the unit is running very cold and it fixed all problem, they didn`t think about adding a heat sink and a fan so in some heat condition the uniit can be very bad.

So if you ever see this consider adding a Hard drive dual fan it will solve all problem you may have, i am using my unit mostly to listen music in digital mode, but ounce in a while i load in a dvd or a avi file and still working fine here.

When you are frustrated by the lack of good customer service that each of us deserves when dealing with a warranty claim it is sometimes wise to play a bit of "hardball" with them after all else has failed. Does your local newspaper have a comments section? Have you contacted the BBB (Better Business Bureau) in your area? How about TV stations in your area? They quite often pick up on personal interest items like this. Get creative, its worth it. My point is this, let LG know that you are going to stir up one hell of a public relations hornets nest for them unless they honor the warranty TODAY!.

Purchased for $ 1, 173.18 An LG Refrigerator From HOME DEPOT 5/2008
This refrigerator has been nothing but a thorn in the flesh from six weeks after purchase. As far as that goes LG/Home Depot service came to my home and worked on it twice to no avail. Still broke
I have called LG direct eight times ! you gessed right (Still broke).

I will place this refrigerator in the bed of my truck with signs as to what I think about LG. Listed now, the word of God says we can anger but sin not. So with this in mind I will do some advertising for LG and reach every Christian, Family Member, CoWorker that I meet and let them know haw verry pleased I am with LG. By the way I will replace with a MayTag.
Your brother in Christ..

I too have had different problems with the LG washer. But I did read somewhere to leave the door open between loads so it can dry out. This might help, although if your washer isn't spinning enough...

I too will NEVER buy LG AGAIN! We purchased refrigerator and stove...stove top will not hold up to daily use, refrigerator..they were to come make changes to it to make it energy efficient...never happened. We were to get a check from LG to make up for electricity difference, we received one check and with that check a letter stating that if we cashed the check that we more or less released LG from any responsibility and NOW (Dec 2009) LG is suing the goverment for this. Refrige was freezing foods in vegetable bin, stove quality is CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP, can't bake 2 sheets of cookies evenly in the convection bake. Is there a company out there that cares about their quality any more?

Its absolutely inappropriate on your part to pass a casteist remarks. Passing of this kind of remarks weakens the society and the nation as your target caste develops hostility towards your caste as well. And then the entire ### that casteism is bad. Please respect all castes. So far as your complaint as customer is concerned, LG people must behave similarly in similar situations. The portion of your complaint which says that on an earlier occasion they sold you right from godown, seems to be an attempt on their part to escape excise and sales taxes.

I am having the same problem with an LG dryer. Spent over 1300 on a dryer. Its not even three month old and i already had 5 techs come to check it. Noisey operation with a very expensive dryer is unacceptable. I have been in contact with LG countless times with but whats the point their reps are clueless and they all memorize the same tape "we apologize...well don't apologize dude fix my dryer). Please do not buy LG products and spread the word out

My fridge is rusting thru from what I feel was improper preping of the steel before paintingh. I found out there is no one in my service area to look at this. 2 1/2 years ago when I purchased the refrigerator we also purchased a microwave and dishwasher. One week ago we bought lg washer and dryer steam top of the line. The only majoe appliance not lg is our range. Since speaking to Lewis and his manager Carla who basicly said they will do nothing about this since it is out of warranty. I feel that no appliance should rust at 2 1/2 years with no damage causing this. You'll be hearing from me more as I advertise your product. My friends, family and anyone that wants to listen on the net will be a more informed shopper.

I have bought LG RD3000 phone on 07/10/08.My phone now got hanged on 09/06/09.Since i've not used it for even one year and phone is facing problem, but the service center saying its out of warranty as LG phone warrranty starts from the date of manufacture.
Now tell me is it my fault that i trusted LG phone and bought it without warying about its warraty conditions.
If this is the case then LG should clearly mention to the customers abt the warranty condition before selling it to them.
Now please tell me who will respond to my complaint and solve my LG mobile fault.

I have purchased quite a number of LG products in Canada and found the products to be wonderful - so much so that I swapped out my 2 year old Whirlpool Duet washer and dryer for the new LG steam washer and dryer... absolutely fantastic. On the one occasion that I had to call service they were extremely helpful and very easy to deal with. They completely stand behind their products. I would say in Canada they are top tier! Based on the great products and great service all my future purchases will be LG

I had purchased a LG 278 VA fridge from Priya electronics, Pimpri Pune on 26th April. The packed piece of fridge was sent to my home. On opening it, we found that its base was damaged. I asked the delivery boys to replace it, they said its a minor fault and the guy who will come for Fridge demonstration with repair it.

After following up for almost a week, the demo guy came and said that the fridge base is damaged and it will have to replac it. I took the phone no. of Mr. Balaji, LG service center.I was fed up with calling LG service center & waiting for their Service Agents.

Since that day, everyday I had to make a no. of calls to Mr. Balaji for my BRAND NEW FRIDGE REPAIR. Each time, I was given a confirmation that fridge will be repaired in a day. And every other day, a sorry was said on phone and a new promise was made. On 9th may service guy called and said that he is on way and will reach our home at 2 O clock. We waited for whole day, but the guy didn't come. Mr. Balaji replied that the guy will come on 10th May after a usual "SORRY". The guy didn't turn up on 10th May either. Mr. Balaji again replied with a SORRY as he has forgotten that 10th May is a Sunday.

Finally when the guy came on 11th May, he brought base of a different model of LG fridge. Service center guy Mr. Kulkarni was in such a hurry that he didn't mind explaining the issue and went out of our home in flat 2 minutes. He said that there are 1000 kind of fridge bases and he can't remember which one to bring. I hope he has forgotten that its his job to remember that and not mine at least. They went back again and brought the proper base and repaired the fridge. But all this take a major part of our day as if we don't have office.

I have just started my family life and was thinking of purchasing TV, washing machine, Mobile and other items from LG. But I guess one experience of fridge was enough for me. Now I would never ever purchase any item of LG and won't suggest even my enemies to do so. If the company is giving such a bad service for repairing ( Not Replacing ) a new fridge, I do not know how are they going to treat me after a year or so when i might really need them for servicing etc. I dont want my weekdays, weekends dedicated towards calling LG Service center & following up with their service agents.

Thanks for such a bad service,
Now I exactly know what a bad service really meant.

We bought an LG 50 in Plasma and have had it just about a year. We came home from work turned the TV on and saw a line across the TV, also now a breakage under the glass. I have been going back and forth with the call center which by the way never has updated info, and never devulges the Supervisors name. This is increadibly frustrating. We sent pictures of this to them and have been waiting for over a week for a supervisor to respond. We then get that they feel it is physical damage? I asked to speak to the supv. So he/she can tell me this, and I was told " Well he said it Looks like it could be physical damage" Now, after a week again we get another call from a local repair center who again before coming out to see it says they believe it is physical damage. HOW? They must have a standard answer... This is the worst experience of my life. I will never buy another LG product and if they do not replace this TV I will sue them, and do all I can to blacklist this company. They are awful!

I am glad you were able to get your replacement unfortunately it cost you time and money on your part in order to have it resolved. I guess good business practice and integrity are out the door when LG is in question. LIFE IS NOT GOOD with LG!

I will never buy another LG product or buy anything from American Electronics Appliances. Tromm stream washer 2 1/2 years old has had 3 service calls in the last 5 months.
American Electrics Appliances will send a repair service out but,
they never have parts. It takes at least 2 weeks to have the machine repaired. The last scheduled appointed they called and cancelled due to service person on duty had a family emergency.
Needless going on weeks 3 after the first service call the machine sits here collecting dust. Worst appliance and service I have ever experienced.

My new LG Dishwasher doesn't work worth a crap. I complained to Home Depot over 6 times before a repairman was sent out. The repairmen came out, determined that some component was bad, so he ordered a replacement. After two weeks he came and replaced the part. The result was still the same. Finally, I was told to increase the tempperatue of my water heater, run the hot water untill it was scalding, and then start the dishwasher. No change." I now have to prewash my dishes, and then put them in the dishwasher for a final cleaning. LG dishwashers are the worst that I've ever used.

My LG Video and DVD Recorder RC 897T had a 25% failure rate making DVDs. Since then the picture on my TV would go black until I whacked the top. Today my LG recorder died.
And the problems started after the warrenty ended.
Imagine such a sleazy corporation that designs their products to fail after the warrenty expires.
Do not purchase LG products.
Type in LG Sucks into Google and marvel at the results.

I purchased an LG DVD recorder/Video Cassette Recorder Model RC700N. When I put a DVD in, it takes 5 to 20 times closing the tray before it reads. The visual quality is fair, it does not up-rez well.
When I called LG, they said they would send a label for repair. 3 weeks later I followed up - again no label was sent. On the 3rd call, they told me it was made by RCA and they didn't service it. It is currently listed as a product on the LG website. A request for repair on the website was ignored.

I won't buy anything made by LG again.

i have the same problem... and looking online for answers, I found this problem to be very common. It seems as though LG could care less or admit this problem exists. Seems like a total joke, and I would never purchase another LG product for as long as I live... They don't care about us consumers, and I think it's a shame... maybe even a crime!

I recently purchased an LG washer and dryer from a Best Buy here in Georgia. About 2 weeks after the purchase I started having issues with the dryer. It would cut on, begin a cycle (any given cycle) and after about two minutes, the machine would cut off for no apparent reason. I called LG customer service and had to wait several days for a technician to come to my house to service the dryer. After spending an entire afternoon running diagnostics and replacing parts nothing worked. The technician then put in a request for an exchange, as the only other part he could possibly try to replace was back ordered until the end of October. I called that evening to express my disappointment that no fix was possible and to confirm that the exchange would occur. I was told by the customer service rep that I would have to wait another 24-48 hours to hear back about the status of my case. I received no phone call. I again placed a call to customer service only to hear that I have to wait to hear from the exchange department which will take approximately one more week, with the entire exchange process taking anywhere from 2-4 additional weeks. It doesn't end here. I again called 4 days later for an update on the status of the request and to see if the process could be expedited in any way. The rep who answered my call was less than qualified for her position and had to forward me to a supervisor (evidently asking for and keying in a case number was beyond her). The supervisor proceeded to inform me that 'as soon as I fax my receipt of purchase they'll begin processing my request'. No one up until this time had told me that I needed to do ANYTHING. Of course I was livid and asked what would have happened if I had not called to inquire and stumbled upon this bit of information. The supervisor told me a proof of purchase letter would have been sent out (probably adding another 2 weeks to the process). I'm at a loss for what could possibly take people so long to process a request and why it is so difficult to get prompt customer service from this company. My case still stands open and I must say as a consumer, I find this very disappointing. I purchased LG products because they are top of the line. I have a 20 month old daughter and simply cannot be without a washer/dryer for more than a day or so, let alone 4+ weeks! Having spent $800+ on this defective machine only to have to wait for at least a month for a replacement is unacceptable.

Are you remembering to leave the door open after you use it?

I have a (Consumer Report rec'd) LG washer we got in June, and I haven't had this problem. The unit is also down in the basement. I have read about it from others in my research prior purchase, and they say this problem is common with all front loaders if you don't leave the door open. Also need to wipe down the inside of door and rubber seal with an old towel rag, if you want to make sure the excess moisture is removed.

But if you are doing that... then, I guess there must be a drainage problem happening somewhere in there.
