my husband and I have been customers of lens crafters for years. For the first time in december 2020 I made an apt with the optometrist there because with optometrist of 20 years had retired. I was not impressed with the appt which lasted less than 15 mins and my eyes were not even dialeted.
dr recommended I get new glasses for distance and reading combined but I explained they make me dizzy so I decided to get the distance with transition from sun to inside. I chose these nice ray ban's and my insurance covered most of it but to y surprise I still had to pay over $250 I think also because of the extra warranty. it was a rushed purchase atogether and when I went to pick up the glasses they were ok did feel strange but I figure takes getting used to distance since I never had issue with distance before,
I have a few nice brands of glasses in my house and I take extreme care of them, only clean them with cleaner from the store and the soft cloth to clean as well and never ever leave in the car.
in january I notice a change on the lenses where they were blurry and looked as if they had dirt and smudges that won't come off. also looks as if there's a film on them. I called the store and was told I have a one year warrant and to bring them when ever I get a chance. I explained I was not able because my mom was diagnosed with dementia and my sister with cancer and I had become their caretaker so as soon as I could I would go.
I had a few hours available last week, Thursday and I went to the store in Pompano City center where I got my glasses
the store was empty and there was a gentleman sitting in a station typing on his iPad. never looked up to greet me, I walked around looking for help but no-one was there so I walked over to him and asked him for help.
he didn't even offer me a seat but I sat down and explained my situation.
he asked my Date of birth (never introduced himself nor did he ask my name or used my name in our conversation) I figured it will be an easy fix but it was not a fix at all. all I could see on his name tag was the name of team lead but could not read the name on the tag. he was so confused first telling me I have a 1 year warranty then he changed it to say 1 month warranty and that there's nothing he can do because there's no way for the company to know why this happened, although he agreed the glasses were not wearable because I could not see thru them with all the film coming off and smudges,
I asked if he could help me escalate this since it seems there is a manufacturing issue? clearly the lenses were not made correctly? he replied NO. just like that and when I expressed frustration he then said he could give me new lenses just for there sun but they will cost me $235 and that's with a 50% discount! I was in such shock I didn't even know what to say. I could buy a nice brand new pair of sun glasses for less than that.
This guy seemed annoyed as if I interrupted him, it was rather strange,
No one was in that store in the 15 minutes I was in there.
I told him I will escalate this myself and he told me to go ahead
I would like my lenses switched please even if it is to just plain sunglasses at no cost to me
thanks
