I am writing about a significant oil consumption issue with my 2022 Kia Sportage Nightfall Edition, purchased new in September 2021. The vehicle has about 56,000 miles and has always been well maintained. Recently, I noticed the engine burning an unusual amount of oil—three quarts needed to be added just three months after an oil change, despite limited use.
Thomas Kia of Highland requested records for every oil change since purchase before offering help. While I understand maintenance documentation is necessary, it’s unreasonable to expect complete records from multiple service locations over several years. A properly functioning engine should not consume this much oil so early, especially under warranty.
Many Kia owners have reported similar issues, suggesting this may be a broader concern rather than an isolated incident. I respectfully request Kia to review my case, advise on next steps, and assist with an oil consumption test or relevant engine inspection under warranty.
Please provide a case number for this complaint, and respond promptly regarding how Kia will address the situation. I hope for a satisfactory resolution but may reconsider my continued business if this matter is not resolved.
Thank you for your attention.
Sincerely,
Melanie Crump
