Last week my dryer stopped heating. We put in a ticket to clean the vent. Maintenance came out and cleaned the vent and said that the dryer vent should be cleaned yearly because it is a fire hazard. The dryer still wouldn't heat because the blocked vent had already caused damage. Since it is my personal dryer we had to hire a tech to come out and repair the dryer. Invitation Homes is not compensating me for the repair bill because they came out and fixed the blocked vent and are completely forgetting the fact that my dryer doesn't work because of the previously blocked dryer vent. They told me that I should have contacted them when the dryer was having issues (which I did). I told them they have not been out to clean the dryer vent in 2.5 years of living here. They told me that they do not regularly inspect dryer vents and I should know that a dryer vent needs cleaned every year and the only way they would clean it is if I called them for a maintenance request. How can I know the dryer vent is clogged if it's in the wall and roof?
Claimed loss: $400 repair bill and a week and a half of no dryer to use
Desired outcome: reimbursement for the repair bill and an apology from their management
