Invitation Homes review: Back charging for utilities that have already been paid

My recent monthly rent payment which I had set previously on autopay had extra utility, sewer and trash, for past months. This is important because if I didn't have autopay on, I would have seen these extra charges and disputed immediately. Anyways I called and they said it was a glitch in their system. Well, they would not refund the money only investigate and put it towards next month's payment. This is ILLEGAL to hold people's money for a month. It isn't a lot of money, mine was 97.12. Now you multiple that by hundreds or thousands of renters and Invitation homes has hundreds of thousands of $ in their account which isn't theirs to make interest or invest for a month. which when I called they acknowledged this happened to MANY people. Guess they didn't learn from the last FTC settlement for millions in march of 2026. Time for another!
