TurboTax review: Waste of time and money

I would rate this product in negative numbers if I could. I have been using turbotax since its inception. I was very disappointed with pricing changes and some interface issues last year, but the product itself wasn't a complete failure, so due to a lack of time to research additional products this past year, I decided to give it one more chance. This year, however, not only are they bilking customers anyway that they can, the product itself is complete trash. Every feature that assisted the customer to ensure that information was entered correctly is now less helpful, or just not correct. You have to guess where they want you to enter the information in many cases, even with the so called guided section. I wasted a lot of time and energy getting the information regarding my estimated state taxes into the system correctly. And the charitable donation section is infinitly less helpful and user friendly; all this hassle in addition to paying a ridiculous amount of money to get the extra forms and file the returns. It would have been faster to file in my own forms manually with a calculator. If the us post office was a more reliable source, they wouldn't have any costomers for their state tax return filings. Adding another state and filing costs more than the initial purchase of the product. At the very least, all costs associated with using this product should be printed on the packaging (in $), so that everyone has a realistic idea of what it will cost them to complete their return. They also need to make sure that they tell the people without a lot of cash, who want to pay for these services with their refund, that they will also incur a $40 fee to do so! All in all, a horrific waste of time and money, and anyone who doesn't actually have a really good idea of what their end numbers should be, or the tax laws currently in effect, will undoubtedly have a filing error with this product. Such a shame that whoever is running things now has ruined the product.
