I have had my intoxalock device since May of 2023. In the beginning I didn't have any issues. I read all of the FAQ's, and troubleshooting to make sure I understood the device. The first issue I did have was I left out the area traveling for work and did not use my vehicle. That resulted in 5 days of not starting the vehicle. It resulted in a lock out, in which at that time intoxalock could remotely take off the lock out and they also resolved my the issue without me paying the $75.00 fee. It is not clear that you HAVE to start your car every other day, and for people that travel there is no information given how to work around not starting your vehicle except when you call and they "encourage" you to put the car in vehicle maintenance mode, BUT that isn't necessarily accurate becuase there is no maintenance being done. After that I had little to no issues. Fast foward to last week, right after Thanksgiving. I remembered that I had to start my car at least every other day, since I had learned that lesson. Unfortunately after starting it Thursday, then Saturday, I go to start it Monday morning for work and my car is dead (mind you my battery is only 2 years old). This resulted in me missing some work, buying a $110 dollar battery and getting charged for a lock out. Intoxalock did put my car in maintenance mode, and waived the fee as far as I can see on the bill, BUT I now have to go to the service center to get the lock out taken off, which costs $26 dollars each time (they count it as a calibration charge). After going through this hassle, I specifically called intoxalock to learn how to unplug my device or put it in safe mode as I live in Wisconsin and due to weather intoxalock "ensured" me that I could remove my device if I followed their directions. I called them and even repeated the instuctions back to ENSURE I would NOT receive another lock out as I would be gone overnight with my car parked in a park in ride in wintery December. Did exactly as intoxalock told me, you put your car in park, shut it off, wait for the 2 min countdown to finish then you can remove your device. I had a bad feeling, but this was the only way to ensure I wouldn't have a dead car upon returning from my trip. Of course upon returning to my car (I have a keyless car) so did not attempt to start my vehicle or anything, I plugged device in immediately and guess what showed up, the lock out. It said it was a violation 5. Talk about frustrating when you follow exactly what intoxalock tells you. Now I again have to go get my device unlocked at the service center and pay the $26 charge. This has caused much stress and time. I know I am not the only one that is having very similar issues. You either need to take this device off the market, or update the devices and the systems so that people that are following the rules and abiding by the contract they signed with intoxalock have a good experience as opposed to a poor one. I have not nor will I ever recommend this brand of device. Customer service is hard to understand and they can do little to help. I am well aware this is a consequence to my actions, but I am following the rules and abiding by the law. I am also not a naaive person and I ask a TON of questions, so why are there still so many issues with this device? The last few months have been nothing short of a nightmare to deal with.

Claimed loss: Refund/Credit on my account

Desired outcome: Refund/Credit of $162.00, for battery, and service fee charges to "unlock" device. Will provide charge receipts upon request.

Since September of 2023, I had same problems. Low battery lockout, I was credited the $75 but still the $42.50 calibration and 80 mile round trip to center. Yesterday morning it was -20 with wind chill, unit was fine - vehicle started. 4 hours later passed - start car - no click on starter so have to pay neighbor to make my appt. I have had 5 lockouts and like above, I removed unit per instructions due to cold, Unit worked said start vehicle and nothing it was frozen as it prevented starter from engaging. Waited 1 hour to remove it after as I had a lockout previously for only waiting till screen countdown went off. This morning plug it in - Level 5 lockout but guess what? It started right up.

Customer service useless! 15 minutes trying to make me pay $75 to unlock it, ILLEGAL in Wisconsin! Then on hold over 30 minutes, this female is rude, condescending and when asked about filing a complaint, blows me off 4 times then tells me she emailed service center and Intoxalock decides if lockout was valid.

This company has NO oversight! They are judge and jury and regardless - you pay! LEGAL MAFIA HERE!
