I should have taken jail time.

They tried to scam me out of two $75 lockout fees while I had the device (car was being serviced both times, and Intoxalock had been properly notified). Now, over 3 weeks after the removal of the device and the closure of my account, Intoxalock is still charging me a "Roadside Assistance Fee". I find this criminal, given that they never provided me with any assistance whatsoever, roadside or otherwise, nor did I ever request any such assistance from Intoxalock. Buyer beware. I do not recommend. If you have any other option to using Intoxalock whatsoever, even if the non-Intoxalock option includes jail time, take the non-Intoxalock option. By the way, their idea of "Roadside Assistance" is telling you to pay for a tow and pay any charges from a service center and telling you to trust Intoxalock to reimburse you for the charges.

Update: Intoxalock account is still showing these unauthorized charges quite faithfully every 2 weeks — over a month after an Intoxalock representative promised in writing that there would be no more charges. At this point, it's irrelevant, since I've had my credit card company place a vendor block on Intoxalock, and I've changed the credit card which Intoxalock has on file to a dead card.

Desired outcome: Cease and desist all attempted charges, and cancel any remaining active "services" which are causing said attempts.

My experience is way too long to write it all here, so here's the short version -

I am super tired of speaking to people that are rude and don't know how to speak proper English. Just avoid this 'company'. You will end up paying twice the amount they originally quote (which will include numerous fees and services you didn't ask for).

I had Smart Start for two years and was never once hit with any unexpected fees and I never spent hours on the phone with uneducated people from a third world country (this will happen to you, I 100% guarantee it if you choose Intoxalock). - Just avoid at all costs (even if you have to drive further to service you will still end up with more money and time).

Were you ever charged a $1.06 for a sleeve lease fee? The only way I noticed this was even a thing was by going on the actual website (NOT the app that they encourage everyone to use) & saw this $1.06 charge popping up on my every other week statement. When I finally was able to reach a real person at Intoxalock, they said it is a sleeve that protects the device in extreme weather (hot and/or cold) BUT I had never heard of this until then, had NOT received any such item AND I’ve been searching high & low for an actual picture/image of this supposed “sleeve” but have yet to find that this is even a real thing. The only thing it says on their website is that you can “disguise” your device in a cup (like a travel mug or a large fast food soda cup) so their actual website doesn’t even show what said sleeve looks like!?! So many more fraudulent charges than just this & what you had mentioned above but these are the 1’s coming to mind at this moment.

I had the Intoxalock device installed in my car and had my wife drive home, because I did not have my license yet. Upon entering the garage it started beeping and later we found out it was a retest. I called and explained I couldn’t drive yet and the added 79.00 charge for a violation. They are obviously a company only driven by greed. I tried to call back to speak to them and after 15 minutes of waiting was put on eternal hold. Do not use this company, they are not interested in providing a good service.

I experience the same issues. long story short; I had a failed business. Lost most my money. Intoxilock is just one of the companies I have to pay monthly. I call them several times to explain my hardship in financial distresses. Each time we come to an agreement. I explain to them that I can only pay so much right now till I get back on a job and earn an income. I sign up with my states reduced pay plan. It was approved just had to go get it at DMV and submit numbers to intoxilock. Meanwhile: gets super freezing cold here in winter. I could not start my car and I missed calibration. Device is locked. 45$ everytime they need to reset. Got them to reset it but car still didn't start too cold! My car wasn't 100%. was missing a sensor in engine. On the third attempt they tell me that device cannot get reset and I have to tow. Glad I read the towing issues cuss now I'm thinking I dont want it towed. So, today they took 380$ from my bran new credit card that has a 500$ limit. This after I told them s many times of my situation. Few days earlier we came to an agreement that I can pay 100$ and be able to get it calibrated. Thats over 450$. 350 of that was unauthorized by me. I used that card to pay 100$ that's it. I got other expenses to pay and was counting on that card to help me get by. So emagin how I felt when I first discovered the money they took! I need a lawyer. This is bullshttt! They got me so heated I got a headache. So now I was unable to do all the chitt I was supposed to do. Instead I spend hours and hours fighting to them to give me my money back. I wanna go rip that device out and jam it right down their...

I am also still being charged for roadside assistance after paying $258 for ending lease early plus the cost of removal from the ship about $120. The lease agreement is way longer than a year, read the fine print! Most of the time when charged a person isn’t even required a iid for over a year! Worst iid company I’ve dealt with, I prefer lifesafer. As let’s not even get into the device itself, it sucks!

Same here, intoxalock is still charging me fee's of roadside assistance after 3 weeks of removal. This is pathetic and they want me to email some Adment roadside assistance, so they won't charge me. UGH!

My law firm has been investigating Intoxalock for potentially fraudulent "roadside assistance" charges that they continue to charge consumers after the device has been removed from the consumer's vehicle. If you would like to discuss the issue, please contact McMorrow Law, P.C. at [protected], or contact us using this form: http://mcmorrow-law.com/index.php/contact-us. My husband will be contacting your law firm with proof of fraudulent charges from Intoxalock. He has email interactions between himself & a supposed manager for the company & would greatly appreciate any help/advice on how to move forward with all of this.

Oh by the way if you pay out of pocket for towing . Read the fine print. They only will pay up to fifty dollars for the reimbursement from towing. Where can anyone get there car towed for fifty bucks?
