Home Depot Appliances false advertising and more

Today, 05/26/2023, at 8:30am, my husband and I went to Home Depot, Store #6975, 2508 Skyline Blvd, Cape Coral, FL, 33914, to purchase a Freestanding GE Electric Range.

Rebecca (I believe this is her name and we much later found out she was the manage for the Appliances) met with us in appliances, we picked out a GE Range that was on sale for 40% off MSRP as per the store printed sign. Rebecca tried to enter the 40% discount and was not able to complete this action. She informed us that the person who is scheduled to work at 9am would be able to handle this. She also told us we couldn't take the Range with us, as per the sign, that we would have to have the Range delivered for a fee. When questioned further, due to the signage, she was unable to answer our questions. My husband said, "maybe we should go to Lowe's" to which she replied, "yes, you should go to Lowe's." At this point there was no issues, we left to run errands and returned after 9am.

At this time we met with Stephanie, who tried to be helpful. She informed us we would have to take the "display" model, to which we agreed. My husband I loaded the GE Range onto a flat cart while Stephanie tried to enter the information into the computer with the 40% discount. She was not able to enter the discount so Rebecca came to help. Rebecca then went to the office to get a bar code to scan for the 40% discount. At this time an older guy from appliances stopped by and informed Stephanie that she could not sell the floor display model, the Range would have to come from stock and in a box. The computer showed 2 of this specific model available, but no one could find any boxed Ranges.

Three hours have now passed and we requested to talk with the store manager, Jocelyn, but she was too busy to meet with us. After another 30 minutes, A Manager named Pamela met with us and she advised that the price listed was already a 40% discount off the MSRP. She told us the original Home Depot price of $1099 was not the MSRP. We inquired what the MSRP amount was and she told us that was proprietary information and we could not have that information. She basically told us we would have to take her word for it and make the purchase of $798, that "Corporate" had told her this was the discounted price and that "Corporate" had created the signs, also telling her that the MSRP was proprietary information and we could not have it. Although other store employees could not locate the advertised GE Range they would not allow us to take the floor display.

This appears to us, as well as other associates of Home Depot of deception. We were ready to purchase the GE Range for 40% off of the listed price of $1099, since the Range was called a "duplicate display".

3 1/2 hours later we left without the Range you advertised.

After 30 years of shopping at Home Depot, we are very disappointed with this store, as well as the store management.

Attached is a photo of the Range, the original sales sticker and the store printed 40% off sign.

Desired outcome: We would like the GE Range at the advertised price of $659.40, which is 40% off $1099.00. Contact me: Jani Haffeman, [protected] or email: [protected]@hotmail.com

Home Depot Veterans discount

Today, 05/26/2023 I purchased several items at the local store in Prescott and requested my military discount. The cashier entered my phone number, as usual, but said that it was not authorized. When I got home I called the customer service number (and after being cut off several times) I finally got a hold of a representative. I was then informed that the phone number was only for authorizing on-line purchases and would need a "smart phone" with some sort of ID number to obtain my discount at the store.

I served my country and, when I applied, I was NEVER told that this was necessary! I am 78 years old and the last thing I need is a SMART PHONE to do business. There has to be some other way of authorizing this discount when purchasing items at the local store! Many purchases are "impulse purchases" that you do NOT purchase on line!

I would appreciate being contacted ASAP so I do not have to take my business elsewhere as this Home Depot store is located conveniently to my home. Thank You, in advance, for your attention to this matter

Regards,

James Eberhart

eberhart. [protected]@gmail.com

[protected] (This phone does not accept robo calls so it would have to be a real person who calls)

Desired outcome: A solution for purchasing in store without a "smart phone".

Home Depot Garage door installation

We bought a garage door and garage door opener and paid for installation back in March. We were notified that the garage door had come in about 3 week ago. They FINALLY showed up to install it today (they were late every time they came here - always some excuse.) The [censored] that installed it stole all of the paperwork that came with the garage door and the opener. We called and asked for it to be returned. He was extremely rude and ended up cussing and hanging up on me. I want EVERYTHING he stole returned.

Desired outcome: I want everything he stole returned.

Home Depot Home delivery

I ordered 5 items to be delivered on 5/24/23 at 1:30 from the HP in No. Arlington. I chose free delivery (which ended up being $8.95). I was given the day it was to be delivered 5/24 and a window 6:00am-8:00pm. At 5:30, I get an email that the delivery was cancelled. The email said I would be contacted. With no call being received, I called the 800 number to find out what the problem was. I get a person on line after 15 minutes and she looks up the order #. She couldn't help and switched the call to the No. Arlington store. They could'nt explain why the 8:00pm window was closed at 5:30. The agent said I would be scheduled for 3/25. This morining when I checked the tracking, it said the delivery was in progress @ 8:27am. The 'Roadie" was driving a compact SUV which would limit the number of stops he could make. At 11:00, I called again to get info on the delivery and could get no help as to when the delivery might take place. This is not a satisfactory experience and will play a role in further orders with HD.

Desired outcome: I'd appreciate a response.

Home Depot Defective lumber received order #wb45670416

5/13/23 received a shipment of lumber, many defective.

I called the same day and advised exact number of pieces of Lumber were defective. I was advised someone from the Store would contact me. Nobody ever did.

Had to place 5 calls, and talked to 6 different people, through their Customer Care Support line. I tried calling Store directly but 'on hold' over 30 minutes. There own Customer Service Agent also got put 'on hold' over 30 minutes. Neither of us could talk to anyone.

Customer Service sent an Email to 6 different Store Members and advised I would be contacted within 24-48 hrs. No contact. I called the Store again and actually got ahold of someone. 5/20: Rose arranged for a delivery of new product and pickup of defective. On 5/23/23, 10 days from first delivery, a driver delivered replacement. He stated he was not picking up the old. I called C.Service and Store was suppose to contact me. 5/25/23. No contact. Plus, 6 replacement items are defective.

I tried to call your Corporate number but their A.I. program didn't seem to understand anything I was stating.

I am not complaining but I will hold you accountable. Is the term 'Customer Service' simply words written, or spoken, or does it represent 'action taken'?

My driveway is still blocked by a bundled stack of defective lumber. Yes, I had to haul it all back out from behind my house, restack it, and I strapped it.

Please keep in mind, I Live Chatted with a representative prior to placing this Order and having it delivered. I asked if I would only receive quality lumber that was not bowed or have numerous knots. I advised I was rebuilding my Screen Room that was destroyed by Hurricane IAN. He assured me they only send out quality Lumber. I normally would have come directly to Store and picked out but I am recovering from major abdominal surgery from 2/6/23, and limited to what I can do.

I believe you can understand why I perplexed this issue not only occurred, but it has not been resolved 12 days later. What is the sense of having a Store, or Corporate, phone number, if nobody will answer it? What sense does it make that the Customer has to be the one to constantly call the Store to get a problem resolved that the Store created?

The ball is once again in your hands. I do not want to 'escalate' this issue to the Media, but I will, based upon your response, or lack of it.

Respectfully Submitted.

Desired outcome: Immediately pick up defective goods blocking may Driveway, and redeliver 6 more 4x4x10 posts that have 4 straight complete edges. I will haul the 2nd batch of defective posts out to place with the others as well.

Home Depot Appliance purchase

I was going to buy a refrigerator at HD today. Had everything all picked out, gave the person my 15% coupon. They shuttled me from appliances to the checkout twice because they didn't know how to make the coupon work. After I had been there over an hour, they sent me to customer service who said they couldn't give me the coupon because my account was inactive. I cancelled the whole order and wasted an hour of my time. Today: May 24, 2023

Home Depot Installation of a patio door.

In June of 2021, Home Depot installed a patio door on my house. During the installation, the installer noticed the screen panel was damaged and while I was there, he called in the defect and another screen was on order. Through most of this ordeal I have been in contact with Tony at the Jacksonville location. It took over a year to get the screen replaced because of covid, at least that is the reason I was given.

However my problem was not resolved after getting the screen because the building permit had long ago expired. I last heard from Tony on 4/4/23 and he said he reapplied for the permit and he would get the inspection taken care of.

I called Tony numerous times at this phone number: [protected]. Most of the time no one answers and I leave a message for Tony to call me back. There was one time when a lady named Sharon answered and said Tony was on vacation and she would leave a note for him to call me when he gets back. Since April 4th I'v called numerous times and Sharon was the only one who answered.

It is now two years since the door was installed and when I call Jacksonville and leave a message, no one calls me back.

My contact info:

John McGinty

5415 Merritt Brown Rd, Panama City, Florida

[protected]@yahoo.com

[protected]

Desired outcome: I would like to have the permit and final inspection resolved.

Home Depot Quartz countertop

I am writing in regards to the installation of our quartz kitchen counter tops. The kitchen countertops were installed in June 2022 by Valley Countertops. We were thrilled with our quartz countertops that we had purchased through Home Depot, we sat down with a Home Depot representative and she spent a generous amount of time with us explaining the durability, longevity and overall quality of the quartz that Home Depot supplies. My wife and I did our due diligence and shopped around for other quotes, some came in lower, but at the end of the day we both agreed that Home Depot offered the better product and the most transparency while purchasing.

During the purchasing of this product/installation, both the Home Depot rep and installation team from Valley Countertops reiterated the durability of this product, stating that it is durable enough to withstand a cast iron pan being dropped on it without any damage resulting (obviously we did not partake and took their word for it). We have not abused this countertop in anyway, we have cleaned said counter top with strictly soap and water (as recommended by Valley Countertops). Not a single dish has been broken whilst washing in the sink. Unfortunately I am very upset to report that our brand new quartz countertop has 3 significant chips around the sink area (pictures attached). My wife and I are both very upset, everyday we wonder how much worse this will get over the years, and quite frankly, we feel lied to.

I would also like to state that we had our tile backsplash professionally installed once our countertops were put in. We need this problem rectified as this is our forever home and we cannot stand the thought of constant chipping of our countertops. Please respond to me via email.

Thank you,

Eric & Stefanie Folkard

Desired outcome: Replacement of countertop & tile backsplash/compensation.

Home Depot No return quote 10 days later?

On May 2nd @ 7:47 pm I placed a call to Home Depot looking for a quote on a deck. I spoke with Mohammad who told me it would be better to come in and sit down with him to get a quote. On May 4th @ approximately 3pm I went into our only store and sat down with Mohammad to discuss what I was looking for. After about a half hour he told me that he would email me @ [protected]@hotmail.com with a quote that evening. I never received a quote and yes I checked my junk mail.

On May 8th I called customer service @ 5:30 pm and explained the situation. The lady told me that she was going to escalate this to the manager of Home Depot here in SJ and I should be hearing from them promptly. Again even after calling customer service I still have not heard back from store and I still don't have my quote. Now two weekends have gone by and I could have had my deck started because no one has the decency to respond back.

I can understand that perhaps Mohammad was too busy or forgot but it is in no way acceptable to leave a customer waiting this long! Perhaps it's because I am not a big company; thus not a big job which would bring a big purchase for Home Depot I simply am at a loss as to why I can't get my quote? Perhaps someone else would have simply gone elsewhere but I choose the materials I wanted @ Home Depot.

Sincerely,

Wanda Griffith

Desired outcome: To get the quote I was told I would receive on May 4th, 2023 in a timely manner.

Home Depot Customer discrimination

Dear Home Depot Headquarters,

I am writing to report a disturbing incident that occurred at your Passaic, NJ store #0950 on May 6th. As an African American business owner, along with my Hispanic electrical contractor, we were targeted, harassed, and discriminated against by a self-checkout area employee. While in the process of checking out, the employee approached us and demanded to see our receipt before we left, not just once, but twice. When I asked why, he responded, "I am doing my job," and he stood tall, waiting for us to finish, while customers on both sides of the aisle looked on. We were the only minorities in the area, and I immediately felt targeted, uncomfortable and embarrassed.

This treatment made us feel uncomfortable and embarrassed, and I reported the incident to the manager, Daniel. I suggested that the company use this example to train client-facing employees so that incidents like this do not reoccur. However, the manager justified the employee's behavior and suggested that they check everyone's receipts to ensure that customers get what they came for. This level of service is provided by the floor attendants and not at checkout.

After contacting the store on May 7th and speaking with Caris, who promised to call me back by the end of the day on Monday, I received no response. When I called again on Wednesday and requested to speak to Caris, the person who answered the phone was hesitant and hung up when they saw my caller ID. Finally, when I spoke to Daniel, he informed me that the employee had been addressed and the situation rectified, but he failed to provide any information on the resolution.

I am deeply disappointed in how this situation was handled. As a 50-year-old female minority, I have never experienced this kind of discrimination and no one should be made to feel the way I did that day. This kind of behavior is unacceptable, and I request that immediate action be taken to address this employee and prevent such incidents from happening in the future. If necessary, I will be forced to take legal action and involve the media.

I expect a prompt response from your company on how this matter will be addressed. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Sincerely,

Carla Percy Otte

Home Depot Bad information from your customer service regarding the use of a coupon

I received a $20.00 coupon good off any $100.00 HD credit card purchase. Barcode [protected] 9392 50. On 5/5/23 I spoke to Customer service to clarify a question. I wanted to use a $ 75.00 gift card and charge the balance of almost $ 200.00. I was told that as long as I met the min. $ 100.00 HD credit card purchase, I could definitely combine and use the gift card and the coupon. When I went to the store on 5/6/23, they refused the coupon and stated I had to charge the entire purchase on the HD credit card. Since your customer service associate verified that I could indeed use the coupon and gift card meeting the min HD charge amount, I want to know why the store did not honor the coupon?

Please clarify why the discrepancy in your policy. I feel I met your requirements for the coupon purchase.

Desired outcome: I would appreciate a response and perhaps a $ 20.00 gift card.

Home Depot message regarding service that has been paid for and not fully received

I paid to have new countertop and backsplash installed in my kitchen in February. I was told it would be somewhere between the second week of March. I finally got my countertop a week ago after many failed attempts and no call back about the situation. I finally received a phone call from the regional manager Jimmy Lewis. He told me the situation would get handled within the week and I would get compensated. I finally got my countertop, new sink and faucet a week ago but nothing on the backsplash. I've contacted and left messages for Mr. Lewis a no response whatsoever.

Desired outcome: I would like an update, compensation for this and apology for this whole situation. This has been less than professional and I recommended you to friends, which I want do anymore.

Home Depot Washer delivery

The delivery was on May 11, 2023, a washing machine. Three guys measured stuff, stood around and said they couldn't do it. As we're discussing the problems, one guy calls his supervisor and starts talking about how crazy I am in Spanish. I get pissed and they start filming me. It's just gross. I'll never buy from them again. I'm going local business only that wants to actually treat me with respect. If you want to feel inconsequential and crappy, invite Home Depot over.

Desired outcome: an apology for the ridiculously awful behavior of their employees.

Home Depot Home delivery of vinyl flooring

My home delivery of my vinyl flooring was scheduled on 5/6/2023 between the hours of 10:30 AM - 2:30 PM CST. The purchase was made online at a home representative had come out to obtain measurement information and quote. The store located at 4159 Fm 1960 Rd W, Houston, TX 77068 is where the delivery company (the company that Home Depot contracts with), was to pick-up my items. At 12:03 PM, I contacted the store to get a status update of when I should expect the delivery. According to my cellphone log, the call lasted 12 minutes and 4 seconds, mainly on hold and the call dropped. I called back at 12:15, and this call lasted 7 minutes and 35 seconds. I was provided the window delivery time as listed above. I called back to the store at 1:39 PM, and this call lasted 7 minutes and 1 second. I did not get the person's name but told them that I have been waiting but had not received a call or text indicating that they would be on their way. I was told that the system showed that things were on schedule and on time. I called the store again at 2:52 PM, since it was after 2:30 PM but wanted to give a little extra time in case they were running a little late. At this time, I spoke to Mark, and he told me that they were probably running behind schedule and that he didn't want to promise me anything in case my delivery didn't come. He told me that deliveries are not made on Sunday but in the system, it showed that there was one more delivery and that perhaps I was the last one. He suggested that I give it until 3:30 PM This called lasted 14 minutes and 22 seconds. I called the store for the last time at 4:22 PM and spoke to Malik. I told him that I have been waiting all day for my delivery and that I've not heard from anyone nor received a text message, so zero communication of the status of my delivery. He told me that he was just clocking in to work and would look into it. This call lasted 37 minutes and 17 seconds. Once Malik returned to the phone, he discovered that my order was still at the store and that it was never placed on truck for delivery. I apologized to him in advance for him getting the wrath of my anger of hearing this information. I told him that I lived 1 hour away from the area as this was for my rental property. He had spoken to the manager and was trying to relay information and I told him that the manger needs to be the one talking to me at this point. He placed me on hold and the store is about 10 minutes from my rental home. So, while still on hold, I drove to the store and asked the lady at customer service to speak to the manger. Lola from appliance came to the phone (my on-hold call), and I told her that I was now in the store. She said that she would meet me in customer service, and we ended the call. Lola and I went to the flooring department where she had my order information pulled up on the computer. She didn't know why my order was still at the store. She said that Terry, associate manager was with another customer. I told her that my situation was unacceptable and an epic failure on their part. It makes them look incompetent and that the left-hand didn't know what the right hand was doing. She agreed and apologized for the incident. She went to speak with Terry and then Terry came over to apologize as well. He didn't know why the delivery company didn't pick-up my order and that he wasn't able to contact them until Monday. I told him that wasn't going to work because the installation company is scheduled to install the floors on Tuesday and that I needed to have the flooring in the house to get acclimated to the area. In addition, should I have to cancel, I'm not sure how soon I would be on the schedule, plus I have an open house scheduled for next weekend.

Terry recognized the level of miscommunication and lack of communication in this matter and sought to find a solution of getting the flooring to my location. He along with 3 other employees followed me to the rental property and unloaded the forty-eight stacks of flooring. The long accessories (i.e., molding) would have been too long to place on the back of the truck, so I agreed that we could have them delivered later. We ended up leaving the rental property about 6 PM.

I must say that I've been a Home Depot customer for decades and this has been the worst experience ever. It goes without saying that I'm very upset and disappointed in the lack of consideration, professionalism, and accountability of all involved in this mishap. I'm baffled that after my order wasn't placed on the truck that nobody thought that the customer should be notified that we have an issue. To make matters worse, the multiple times that I called the store, it took a person on the next shift to think of looking to see if my order was still in the store. Today's delivery was pivotal and although I was told that I would be contacted at least 30-minutes prior to the driver on its way, I didn't want to chance it, so I was at the rental home at 10 AM. So, I waited for over 6 hours for a delivery that would have never happened. I can't recall, but during one of the calls someone told me that deliveries are from 8 AM - 8 PM, so I could have waited until 8 PM for delivery that was still at the store. I think it's important that Home Depot revenue their processes and procedures as it relates to my situation and determine what things that could have been done differently to prevent this epic Failure form happening to anyone else.

Disappointed,

Melvin H

Desired outcome: If I were the owner/president of Home Depot and read this complaint, I would be embarrassed and provide compensation for this epic oversight failure.

Home Depot Consumer Credit Service

My card went to collections before I was even made aware it was doing so. When I tried to call and get my address changed so they could send me a bill and take care of the issue, I could not do so over the phone. I spoke with 6 different people to try to pay my card. No wonder they send it to collections. Its easier for them to do so than to accept payment. What a joke. I get a bad credit rating because they have a bad system in place.

Desired outcome: Take off my debt and call it paid in full. I paid online on May 1, 2023 at 11:30. Remove the black mark on my credit rating and give the hour and 1/2 of my life back.

Home Depot Window installation

In August of 2022 I contracted Home Depot to replace some 17 windows in my home. The original estimated date of installation was before Thanksgiving, however, due to manufacturing delay the windows, the installation was postponed to December 20th but that also was rescheduled to for Mid-January. It took the installer team 2 day to start work but when they started, they installed 14 windows within 2 days. One of the windows which was a 4' by 10' was not installed because they needed to do extra work on fitting the window and they left the window in my living room and left. Two other windows for one of the rooms were wrong size, therefore, they had to reorder those windows. We were left with a huge window sitting in our living room. Finally, after numerous complaints, they eventually agreed to come back early March, and install the big window and free up the space in our living room. Following that we patiently waited for the job to be completed. I never understood why the wrong windows were ordered in the first place, that definitely was Home Depot's fault. Finally, they scheduled installation for April 26th between 1 and 4 PM. The installer never showed up., around 5 PM I got a call from the installers, and they said they would come first thing in the morning on 27th. Around 10:30 AM they showed up and inspected the job site and said they did not have all the necessary equipment, they left the windows in our living room and left to come back next the day. They did not show up on 27th or 28th and when I called Home Depot installation after several try finally, I was told that the installers won't come back until May 3rd. Since January we have not been able to remove the stickers from the windows until after inspection, and as a result we have not been able to put up any window coverings. This was not what I expected from Home Depot, I would never recommend them for any big installation jobs. They are disorganized and seem not to care about their customers.

Home Depot Military discount

My name is Frances G. Roberts and my husband is Mark D. Cain. Mark has been approved and is on your military discount program. The problem is the WIFI in the store does not always work. Now we are told he just needs to enter his phone number [protected] that does not work either. His phone number is on his military discount, but doesn't link the discount.

I have work with Customer service at the store for a good 15 minutes but they could not figure out the problem and gave me a number to call. Today I have called the following numbers with no help at all, just give me another number to call:

The [protected] sent me to an email address [protected]@sheer id.com.

This is stupid. We both have credit cards with you and spend thousands of dollars a year. What is the problem with your customer service? Please have someone fix this. Do not send me another customer service number to call. I need a person in management who can take care of this problem. You may call me at [protected] or just get this fixed. Sorry to have to go directly to you, but no one else seems to get the problem fixed. I have spent way too much time on this.

Frances Roberts

Desired outcome: Fix the problelm
