I was in Malta and decided to rent a car from Hertz. I paid, but they asked me for my credit card. I gave it to them. After my vacation, they charged me 10 euros (apparently to check if I was using it). I didn't notice because I don't use it very often. Then 20 euros, then 50, then 100, then 200. After that, I noticed and blocked the card, but I had 500 euros charged on Google Ads.
Why? To advertise their scam? Or is there a loophole in Google? Like, "Oh, sorry, we don't need advertising anymore. Can you return the money, but we have a different credit card?"
Most likely, it's not the company's fault, but the employees', or someone hacked Hertz, which is unlikely. I hope this helped you.
If you've encountered this, let me know in the comments. Thank you.
Recommendation: Never visit Hertz in Malta
