1st time ever riding bus. I booked a trip from Ocala Fl to Pueblo CO. The price $287, 51 year old female with a disability. I did not use my disability when booking but that's not even my issue. I had to change busses in Atlanta GA to Dallas Tx, several on the bus including myself did not make our connecting busses to our destination. I had to stay in Dallas bus station from 1:30 pm until 7 am the next morning! My original time to get home was 6:20 am. Now with new bus leaving at 7 am I wasn't going to get home until 5:05 am , I left Thursday at 11:30 am , my new bus didn't leave til Saturday morning , so another whole day and night on the bus. Once I got on the road again to Oklahoma city , 4hrs into trip and arrived there to change bus to Albuquerque NM to arrive at 9 pm so I could catch my bus home to Pueblo at 10:45 pm, I had no bus to get on, a driver didn't report to work! So now I'm stuck at Oklahoma City bus station from 11:20 am til 5:30 pm, arrive at Albuquerque at 3:15 am with no connecting bus once I arrived to go home. I decided at this point to have family drive 8 hours one way to Oklahoma City to come get me! I had no idea what time a bus to pueblo was going to be once I arrived at Albuquerque and how much longer I was going to be stranded at yet another bus station and another day on the road! I understand [censored] happens but none of this was my fault as a paying passenger of why my trip and comfort level was beginning to be an absolute circus ride! Never mind the added expense for someone coming to get me and still 8 1/2 hours on the road home but at least I was safe,warm, could get food, could sleep, and knew I was going to get home for sure unless a fatal accident happened. The least Grayhound/Flix bus could do in situations like this, no fault of the passengers, provide us with a mat and hot meal! I had already been on the bus for 26 hours before getting stranded at Dallas bus station for 17 1/2 hours! That also was extra expense, having to find food, drinks etc I will say that the employees at both Dallas and Oklahoma bus stations were absolutely amazing with what little they could do for our situation, and so very thankful for the Security Guards as well, they are definitely needed in both places! Half the driver's I had were absolutely the most unkind,most unempathetic, impatient, and down right miserable to be on the bus with especially one that took us to Atlanta , first Name Carlos ! I understand all walks of life and dangers come with being a driver, their jobs are to protect passengers and keep us safe including driving but honestly I was very afraid to ride a bus as female by myself and the passengers on every single bus were absolutely my least of worries eventually, I met so many wonderful, kind, friendly, respectful people! The driver's and the delays were the real damn problem! I will never ever ever ever ever ride a bus with Grayhound again. I literally was in tears multiple times and so were many others! That's what kept me somewhat positive, knowing I wasn't the only one having to go through this, but 4 hrs into my next bus and it got delayed again, I had more than enough! My bus left at 5:30 pm from Oklahoma City but I stayed and waited for my family until 10:30 pm to guarantee I was gonna get home and not continue this miserable circus ride for who knows how much longer! I was hoping for a new and great experience by traveling a different way than I usually do...that definitely did not happen! Thanks Grayhound! For taking people's money, stranding them for hours and hours, with nothing to offer except misery and shrugged shoulders! I was very lucky to have family that was willing to go get me, very blessed for that but I'm sure they are aware of how many are traveling with very little money if any at all , so I seen so many hungry, stressed, thirsty ( not even water fountains available) extremely exhausted, cold, frustrated, elderly, non English speaking, etc I did my best to help with quite a few people, let's see I fed 5 people, gave hoodies away, bought drinks out vending machine for them...( Not looking for a pat on my back) I was fortunate enough to help with what I could because I'm not rich, I don't even have a job, but I do have a family that cares about me, that worried about me and made sure I was ok while stranded, and many of these people don't have that either or family that has no extra to give even though they were worried and frustrated for their loved ones...Like I said Grayhound will never be an option for me in the future! Do better Grayhound! Seats are not cheap on your busses! I could have flown for the price of my ticket and always will fly, your company will never even be an option or considered!;
Recommendation: If you can financially, use your hard earned money to fly or rent a car, if you have a short trip, it may be fine to consider but a rather lengthy trip, find another way!
