I’m filing this complaint against Electronic Arts Inc. for releasing a forced Sims 4 update on August 19, 2025, that broke core game functionality, disabled thousands of mods, and disrupted paid DLC content. EA gave no warning, no rollback option, and no support. I’ve spent over $600 across PC and Xbox platforms. This patch erased years of gameplay, legacy builds, and emotional investment. I’ve already filed a formal complaint with the FTC and am joining others in calling for accountability and consumer protection. EA’s negligence has harmed thousands of players and creators.

Claimed loss: I have spent approximately $600–$650 on The Sims 4 across PC and Xbox platforms. Most purchases were made during sales, but the total investment reflects years of engagement with the franchise.

Desired outcome: I want EA to acknowledge the damage, offer rollback tools, compensate affected players, and commit to transparency and modder coordination in future updates.

EA’s July 1st update (1.116) didn’t just break the game—it nuked it. Legacy saves? Corrupted. Mods? Shattered. Entire gameplay systems collapsed, and modders were left doing unpaid triage while EA ghosted the community.

I lost years of storytelling—families, rituals, emotional arcs—all gone because EA couldn’t be bothered to test their patch. And let’s be clear: this wasn’t a minor bug. It was a full-blown crisis. Players reported corrupted saves tied to outdated or broken mods, and EA offered zero rollback tools, no compensation, and no transparency2.

Modders like adeepindigo and lumpinou had to scramble to fix what EA broke, while players with 100GB+ of CC were told to “just clean it out.” Oh, and don’t forget the gaslighting—EA pretending everything’s fine while the forums exploded with bug reports and grief.

This isn’t just incompetence. It’s disrespect. EA profits off our passion, then guts the systems that make the game playable. If you’re not going to support the community that keeps your game alive, at least have the decency to own your mess.

Fix it. Or lose us.
