I bought a used car, a Nissan Rogue, on January 24, and after about six days, I started hearing some cracking sounds coming from the rear of the car, especially when I held the brakes.
I went to Drivetime in Mesa, where I bought the car on January 10, 2026, and was told I should take it to any repair facility that is under SilverRock.
I took the car to PEP Boys on Broadway, where they inspected it and sent some images to Silverrock.
Later, the repair facility called me to inform me that Silverrock would only accept the bare minimum for the repair, even though the facility had suggested otherwise.
I called Silverrock and asked for information pertaining to the claim, and they told me that they could do part of the repair but not everything listed because of some failed tests.
I returned to Drivetime Mesa, and they informed me that, if possible, I could take the car to Meinken, as they do not work well with Pep Boys
I then went to PEP Boys, and they told me that they can't repair it, partly because the standard is that when they repair the brakes, they have to do a full repair so i should take my car if Silverrock can't pay for the full repair.
I then took my car home, as I couldn't find a transport to take me to the repair shop.
On Saturday, February 14, 2026, I took the car to Meinke Scottsdale, and I'm praying that they are able to diagnose the problem and also get funds to pay for the repairs.
My concerns now are
1-Does Drivetime sell a car without checking if the brakes are functional?
In my case, i think this is serious negligence, which can lead to the loss of human lives.
2-Does this mean that if Drivetime sells you a car, they don't care what happens next? I've been up and down, and they haven't been able to talk to the service providers.
3-Could you please clarify why Silverrock is unwilling to cover the full repairs as listed by the facility? is it because they just want to make money and not consider the impact of part repairs?
4- I am now on the fifth day without using the car, and I do not know if I will be reimbursed for the costs I have incurred in trying to get the car fixed.
Already im starting to regret the purchase, especially if the service providers do not want to own up yet i will be making payments for the car.
I hope I have positive feedback tomorrow, as Meinke is going to contact Silverrock about the car.
Desired outcome: I desire the full repair of the outlined problems and if possible, give me another car that is better than this one.
