In 2014, I went into a drive time. Desperate to get into a vehicle as I was biking 20 miles one way from work every day. I had bad credit, I was in my early 20s and I was told I'd be taken care of. I was sold - in 2014 - a 2004 gold Mercury grand marquis with 100,000+ miles for +$15000. The sale price was 9,000. my monthly costs for that car exceeded 314 and I was barely making rent. These people prey on

Desired outcome: I just feel like they need to experience some measure of accountability for their monstrous practices. I wound up having my car repo'd because I fully could not afford to have that and keep a roof under my head.

2014

I was taking 4 hours in my day taking transit and riding my bike the rest of the way to work and then riding my bike 21 miles from work. 5- 6 days a week. I was in the best shape of my life but I desperately needed a car. When I went to drive time and talked to them, they said they had the perfect vehicle for me. I knew truly nothing about cars, I just new I needed to upgrade to 4 wheels and an enclosure. I was shown and sold a 2004 gold mercury grand marquis with 100k+ miles on it, a $9k price tag on it. I walked out of there $15k+ debt after taxes and add ons were done. I was young and did not understand - they unfortunately were very well aware and saw a money making opportunity.
